This is a brilliant demo. I tend to love Dimarzio pickups generally. Think I would like this.

I have been contemplating trying one of these in a standard tuned guitar for thrash metal. I think your demo just sealed the deal for me and I appreciate you for that. Now to find an alder body guitar with a Floyd. 🤘🏻

how were you recording these? like mic’d amp or cab sim setup etc?

I dropped this in the bridge of my Epi Les Paul Studio after the original pickups went bad (installed an Air Norton in the neck, inverted installation). Works very well for metal, blues, and jazz. I figured Les Pauls have a rich, darker tone anyways and wanted to play with pushing that range instead of trying to make it sound like a Strat.

nice vid tho, someone said carcass recorded heartwork with these. How I found this. Been deciding between now these, x2n and super distortion

@@BuddhaBKFL might’ve miss it, got this pickup and tried it on my strat and just couldn’t vibe with it, it sounds awesome on Phil Collens signature though, maybe its meant for basswood guitar.

Thanks for making this. I can only find this pickup being used in classic rock applications. I was hoping it would have more sustain in fast palm mutes like the Super Distortion except tighter but perhaps that looseness is what gives it sustain.

I'd say the EQ feels a lot like an EMG on the bottom 3 strings. On the higher strings it opens up a bit more. I am a huge fan of Kill Em All and Peace Sells by megadeth so my amp settings kind of match that. Tight bass, boosted treble with a rolled off high end. I think if you were to run this through a mesa or something else you could easily get a lot more sustain on the low end, but the Super Distortion is definitely fatter in the low end. I thought it was too fat honestly. It would take up frequencies used by a bass guitar.

@@loydthabartender5794 It can definitely handle the tone on Kill 'Em All and Peace Sells. Both bands were using Super Distortions at the time.

The Super 3 is plenty tight. I play death metal and hardcore with it and it’s great for those applications. It chugs on palm mutes as much as you want it to.

    It sounds like Duncan Distortion

Not at all. I've owned a number of both and it's darker than a Duncan Distortion. I prefer it to the Duncan. You can pump a lot more gain into it without it falling apart. It retains more clarity. It also has much better high end. The Duncan cheeses out on the high end. The Super 3 is a much better pickup for metal.
