- Farideh is back in her family’s home kitchen in Maryland and is making not one, but two versions of her beloved crab soup: a traditional, tomato-based Maryland crab soup, and a rich and indulgent cream of crab soup. Both recipes incorporate generous amounts of jumbo lump crab, and Farideh shouts out her big sister Amanda, who shares Farideh’s love of “half-and-half,” a combination of the two soups. Made the Maryland crab stew tonight. It has forever changed my household for the better. Dear God, woman. So good.
*Soup I'm from Baltimore and the only critique I have is to add some beef cubes. It adds some heartiness. I don't know where they got that mix from, they would be chased out of the Chesapeake Bay area talking that blasphemy.
Never have I been more happy to see a munchies video, need more area focused recipes, DMV specifically

I'm in Riva, in my early 50s, and I've gone to Pirates Cove on and off since my early teens. Their cream of crab soup was a MUST order when going.......always the best.

You know you’re a true Marylander when you say “a little Old Bay” and then use a bunch of Old Bay lol My in law from TX was horrified when I dumped a bunch of Old Bay on my ketchup for my fries after I said “I just like to add a bit of Old Bay in there”
Watching you made me homesick for my family and memories of "picking crabs." Grew up in Talbot County and ran barefoot over those crab shell driveways! You know what I'm talking about. Thanks for the video.
If your still in the lower 48 check out crabplace.com the large female hard crab is the best deal. I get a few dozen a year.

I’m born n raised in Baltimore 25 years so we know our crab I was pullin crab pots at 7 , and a lot of people kno the soups separate rarely u see them mixed I kno Restaurants tht do but not being from here did a bangin job making it specially winter time best thing ever !!!

Nice to see your take on this. I must have made MD crab soup more than a hundred times, usually in 60 gallon kettle or a big tilt skillet, but definitely prefer cream of crab soup. Thanks to Covid it will probably be a while before the next batch.

Young lady this was more than normally enjoyable. Dad,Mom even Sis. And wow,not one but two great crab soups. And your sis definitely deserves credit on mixing the two. The red soup placed into the white, it was like adding a red sauce to the soup. Add a couple of basil leaves and you have the colors of both Italian and Iranian flags, a special nod to your parents. I'm planning on making these soups sometime this winter. I'll head down to the Washington coast and do some crabbing for fresh Dungeness crab 🦀, hmmmm. It was one of a bunch of new colors that Le Creuset created recently, part of their Heritage collection. I think it is called Provence, but I could be wrong. They’ve got gorgeous products, but I only own a few pieces because they are so expensive. They’ll last forever, though, as long as you take care of them.

It's nice to see people repping their actual town in Maryland. Most people would say "Baltimore" or "Annapolis" because nobody's heard of Davidsonville.

Holly’s just off Route 50 near the bay bridge had the best cream of crab. I miss it so much
I went to school with some of the grandkids of that family! Loved everything there, it was a great spot. Glad they were able to close up when it was right for them. I miss it for sure.
