Dude thanks for actually teaching me something, over 90% of the videos out there are titled stuff like "How to catch ______ fish tips & tricks" and then it's just a 7 minute pov video with them telling you what they use for bait. Literally does nothing for new people like me, thanks for taking the time to make this right and actually telling me something that will help me catch a fish! Bravo man thumbs up
This is has be one of the best video I have seen explaining a relatively basic and simple idea in a very clear way. Thanks For taking the time to do this video
BTW was hoping to find more guides on your channel and was bummed to see this was the only one, you should really think about doing a series of the beginner, as I said the offerings out there for how to fishing videos are not the best too many of them assume you know too much and you have a great teaching style would love you to put what you know into a series
Thanks JD! DO you have a video of " backfootin" , with the bait casting setup...definitely a favorite of mine and will out produce other methods in some situations. ..
Don Patton We did shoot some backfootin for my upcoming video course if memory serves. I’ll take a look in the vault and see if I have any that I can release. Thanks.
Jim J Jim, it’s OK to go either way… I like bait caster reel’s for bobber fishing because it is really easy to get an extended drift by simply pushing the button and feathering the line with my thumb in freespool.
@@taliesinangling3564 In the lake Erie tribs, fly fishermen use a half dozen split shots, a bobber, heavy bead nymph and then pitch it all into a river seam...and that's fly fishing. Not for me !

What is the advantage using bait casting tackle vs spinning ?
Jim J Jim, it’s OK to go either way… I like bait caster reel’s for bobber fishing because it is really easy to get an extended drift by simply pushing the button and feathering the line with my thumb in freespool.
Jim J The advantage is that they both can be sold to buy a fly rod.

Don Patton No, that is not the definition of fly fishing. In fast water it is one of rge only ways to nymph that is why they do it.
@@taliesinangling3564 Exactly and that is no more elite than fishing small cranks or spoons..just saying. ..
Am I good to use a 8lb test line for river fishing
Depends on where you are fishing but you can get away with it in some cases.
What rod and reel are you using?
What kind of flies do you recommend when not fishing for bass in a trout stream?
What's that dry pack?!?
What is the name of your rod
What kind of reel is that
In that video I was using a Pfluger Supreme (I think)
fishwithjd shimano core
The seam is where the poop floats from the sewage pipes.
Ugh where the heck do you fish? Haha
What's that bait
Best place to get Steelhead is at the INDIAN RESERVATION.
Eddie's?
Line, seam, ? Do you mean Eddie?
