Nepo vs Hari | The heated finish | World Blitz 2022
Вставка
- Опубліковано 2 січ 2023
- Harikrishna was the highest finishing Indian at the World Blitz Championships 2022. He scored 13 out of 21 and also gained some rating. His finest performances came against some of the best players in the world. He beat Caruana and drew against MVL and Anish Giri. In this game he was pitted against the World Championship contender and one of the strongest players in the world Ian Nepomniachtchi. The game is very exciting with Sicilian being played and Black king stuck in the center. The end of the game is also quite heated with both players down to their last few seconds before the game was decided.

Nepo a little out of line to call Hari dirty when he only knocked the piece over once and it was clearly accidental. Seemed like out of frustration more than anything. Also, great defense by Hari with little time
yeh big effort by hari there at the end... well done i say
What did he say at the end 5 in a row or something ?
@@Raikage2332 Hari said the piece slipped so Nepo said 5 slips in a row. That's not what happened though
A little ? He was way out of the line. What an asshole.

If you have an issue, call the ref. Dont harrass your opponent. Very disrespectful and disappointing behavior
yeah for sure, in the last 4 seconds...
@@blackdeath1970 YOU can stop the clock and call the arbiter
The reason i enjoyed WCC 2022, 2023 most...
It wasnt like 1 move that was the issue, Nepo forgave him for the little mistakes but its the aggregated amount of slips that happened throughout the match that was frustrating.
@@missionpupabruuhh he just got furious coz Hari converted a losing position into a winning one ..and the piece fall only once !.. he didn't have time to place it back in his own time .. a human brain's mechanism... He has no rights to be this rude
Firstly Hari is not a dirty player. Clearly Nepo was both very upset and frustrated with himself that he could not convert what looked like a crushing attack but Hari defended brilliantly. The incident happened at 7.59 and I genuinely believe it was just an honest mistake as by the time Hari had processed what had happened he’d already pressed the clock and then when realising what he’d done apologised immediately.
Chess is basically a war game and in war they have an expression ‘the fog of war’ - I would put this incident down to ‘the fog of blitz’:))
Wonderful, Julian.
Что с того что он извинился? Цена упавший флаг или поправления за время соперника. Кому в такой ситуации нужны эти извинения????
@@user-rg3po5eq1f Could have reacted immediately and chose to not call a ref.
why he says 5 times in a row mr Hodgson?
Yap. But it is a matter of character how to deal with frustration even in this fog. Hard to imagine, a decent man like Hari would ever blame another player for his own disappointment or even get kind of physical like Nepo did with that "handshake"
Hari is a superb player. Not only a top GM but also a very nice human being. It was indeed absolutely unintentional that he, under pressure, dropped the piece and put it back having pressed the clock first. The guy looked shocked after the short conversation at the end of the game. Both are magnificent players. Great game of chess but a forgettable ending.
How do you know it was intentional? He dropped the pieces and kicked the clock stopping his time. Then he started to adjust his pieces. What's that? A dirty trick. Nepo should call arbiter although to prevent Hari do it next time
@@kazimirmalevich6712 he said unintentional...
Hari even moves his piece during nepos time
Where he is now...
Poor Hari... You can tell he was genuinely surprised.
That's the typical face of someone who is guilty of the accusation.
Be careful in your life, you are easily deceived.
@@tomasseeber care to explain how he is guilty of slipping 5 times in a row?
@@sportonjob6110 no, sorry. If you don't have the mental ability to see it yourself, you will believe everything was unintentional, because you think like a regular person, and not like a chess Grand Master. You may pick up a piece, knock another piece down, and only notice it after you pressd the clock; but a speed specialist has time to think about it and make a decision. Another Grand Master knows this, and will tell a Grand Master he's being dirty. If you do the same thing against Super Grand Master Nepomniachtchi, he will only smile, because he knows you don't have the mental speed.
So this is about the most obvious one. Another one you can see, near the end, Harikrishna picks up his queen before his opponent pressed the clock. If you watch the video in normal speed you won't notice it, but again, Grand Masters know the difference between grabbing your queen on your turn and grabbing it on their turn. This is very hard to notice, but a correct player always moves away from that blurry line, into their on time. Becauase after all, we try to make chess an elegant respectful game; which we should try to maintain even in those momens of rush.
In lower levels, some players do all this repeatedly, but after 10 years at the top of world chess, Super Grand Master Nepomniachtchi is used to more respect of the limits.
That's two. But if Super Grand Master Nepomniachtchi says 5, and you only see 1, you did well by asking; but I wasn't paying enough attention to see other "slips".
@@sportonjob6110 Furthermore, he only slipped once when he pressed the clock before readjusting the pieces. It was a slick move, because the clock was close to timeout, but the rules are clear. If you don't call the ref it means you accepted your opponent's play.
For those who did not understand what happened :
Nepo : "Play more dirty next time"
Hari : I did not play dirty, its sliped.
Nepo : "No"
Just editted my answer ( My Reply If I was Hari) : Yes, will play more dirty and thats none of your business.
Context : Hari knocked the piece at 7:55 (accidently) and nepo got disturbed. From what I observed was queen d2 was a brilliant move since it closed the attacking area for white queen and this totally changed the game for Hari (his attacks starts from there).
It shouldn't go unmentioned that if Hari had fixed the bishop before pressing the clock, as he's supposed to do, he would've lost on time. As it was, he pressed the clock with one second left. Whether it was intentional or not, I don't know, but nonetheless Nepo would've won on time if Hari had played according to the rules. That said, there was no need for Nepo to exaggerate/lie. The pieces didn't fall five moves in a row. It was twice, and it wasn't in a row.
@@mmdurante1616 Yes, exactly, I didn't understand why Nepo didn't call an arbiter but maybe that's because he wanted to finish the job faster :( Anyway Nepo should understand that he is still challenger and he should be more calm even If his opponent does something incorrect imao
@@mmdurante1616 I thought Hari does not get punished but nepo gets 2 min more according to FIDE rules?

Ah man, Hari is a super nice guy, def wasnt intentional. I kinda feel Ian's frustration, because technically you can't press the clock if you've knocked over pieces. If you check out the Kovelov vs Artem game, Kovelov insisted on the one hand rule to grab the win.

Quite a leap to call Hari playing dirty over a single incident of a piece getting knocked over in a blitz game 😀 and to follow up with 'happened 5 times in a row',is unprofessional
Hari even moves his piece during nepos time
Also it was not "single incident". Harikrishna knocked over his piece(s) at least three times. He could have at least apologise to Nepo after they finished instead of asking "What?"
Hari moved his pieces in nepos time. He is not wrong

I believe nepo was mad because of the sloppy play on low time, in particular at 7:55 - you have to adjust the fallen pieces on your own time but this is quite common and hari apologized immediately. Also if im not wrong this only happened once so im not sure why he said it slipped 5 times, i think nepo was just upset his position was winning at some point but couldnt convert

Nepo just couldn't resist calling him a dirty hari 😂
Hari would have the comeback of a lifetime if he said, "Do you feel lucky, punk?"
Dude you can tell, that hurt Pentala. Look at how caught off guard Hari is. Hari is literally speechless. Ian could've just called an arbiter. We ALL know Nepo wouldn't have cared if he figured out how to convert his winning position. He was stuck on auto when he was winning and then Hari actually took time to calculate wtf was going on and how to get out of it. Magnus either would have called an arbiter immediately, or let it go. Anish would have laughed at the end of the draw. Ding would have remained silent with full understanding that it was unintentional. Naka would roll his eyes and call that arbiter IMMEDIATELY. Dubov wouldve mentioned it in a snarky way if asked about it, but he wouldve been more upset at himself for not converting. Ian is the only person that would neglect to call the arbiter; continue to play bc he knows he has a sizeable advantage; fail to convert the position; and then accuse the other guy of playing "DIRTY" immediately after he realizes its a draw 🤣 We're all rooting for DING now 👍🏾

Actually, if we are going to go by the rules, Nepo clearly “punched” the clock near the end, hitting it hard enough to move it, which goes against the rules (yes there’s a rule about that.)
I think he go frustrated that he couldn’t win, but he should have maintained his calm. His opponent did adjust the piece during his time, which is not correct, though it was clearly an accident. Nepo is right to find fault with that, but to call it dirty is stretching it.

Not to talk about hari knocking pieces down and also using 2 hands when adjusting. All aren't allowed. A player at his caliber should know all of that its indeed dirty play for his level
@@binor1666 Then why didn’t he stopped the clock and called the arbiter in the first place considering what’s done was illegal? That’s the reason why they have arbiters in the first place, to correct what should be corrected in a professional match. Nepo should’ve called the arbiter right after the illegal move instead of calling it a “dirty” play.
@@karlanthonygallano6053 calling arbiter or not doesn’t change that he played dirty
Hari understands the frustration.
I'm sitting here even more annoyed than Harikrishna is merely on his behalf..thank you Chessbase India!
lol dude was salty from the draw. That's not dirty play it's just moving a little to fast when your low on time and knocking over a piece.
Rooting for ding now!

Why does nepo always cry when he doesn't win? On a moral level he is one of the worst chess players I have ever seen.
You slips 5 times in a row ????
i only saw i onces
Wht did he skip?
That is just 1 time. Nepo said it hapnd 5 times, wonder wat was he smoking..
@@sammohanty5507 he mean slips
generally i like nepo however he's just being a bitch here. of course i get the frustration but hari is not dirty at all. also he sincerely apologized right after he knocks the piece down. plus nepo does the same thing when he notices he's running out. whatever happens on board should stay on board unless unethical stuff happens. always admired indian players' respectful behaviour. loves from Turkey
Ian: "you should play more dirty next time"
Several times in the game hari accidently knocked over a piece, but immediately fixed them. Yes thats not ideal but ian overreacted, if ian thought it was a problem he should've called the arbiter.
Disappointing that Nepo couldn't take the draw with grace, conveniently forgetting he literally threw a pawn on the floor when playing against Dubov. Hari deserved to be respected for the draw, not given that treatment. I hope they catchup afterwards and Nepo has an opportunity to apologise, and they can talk about it.
Please add subtitles
Hari
1. Knocks pieces over after he presses his clock
2.moves before nepo has pressed his clock
3. Presses clock with different hand he plays move with.
I’m sorry but a 12 year old has better chess etiquette than that. I’m Indian and Nepo has every right to get angry. Those saying that he should of called an arbiter and not taken it out on hari; Nepo was being nice by NOT calling an arbiter and had every right to call Hari out. You’re a super GM hari, do better.
Lmao
There is a movie called dirty Hari as well funnily enough
Nepo is one of the most saltiest players to play chess. Zero professionalism like a pampered child. Had a winning position ended in a draw.
why not Queen takes bishop b7??
I just lost my total respect for Nepo! (I even rooted for him last year against Carlsen)
A person's true character comes through when they're angry and frustrated.
He should have accepted the draw with good sportsmanship and vent alone. We all have games where our opponent is cornered but we fail to clinch the win because of time pressure, very frustrating indeed. However to smear your opponent as a dirty trickster when there is absolutely no evidence of it, especially on to an honorable player is contemptible!
I hope he apologizes & soon ❕
Shut up, easy to say when you are not cheated by the opponent and your good will. Nepo is frustrated with his opponent and himself for not using the rules to just win.
Is this a draw or win for Hari?
Draw
@@sportsupdate1462 how many points are there for a win, draw and lose
It's Nepo who touches his pieces even before Hari has hit the clock, and surprisingly he's the one crying about it.
that's why I hate to play blitz over the board pieces flying, online is easier. Imagine them playing in the future classical
Slipped 5 times in a row? 😂 Nepo needs to get an eye checkup done ASAP 😅 But yes, Hari did slip twice and just once on Nepo's time for which he apologized immediately. This happens in Blitz OTB. That exchange at the end though was uncalled for. Guess at the end Nepo was just salty that he could not make his crushing attack work. 😅 Well done by Hari to keep calm 👍
Let's go Ding!
That's why I'm glad Nepo didn't become the WCC. 😂
It's good that Ian isn't world champion. Wouldn't want him to be one. Ding is far more deserving
there should be bigger penalties for players who knock over pieces & for players that fail to place pieces properly on squares…. Hari had two knock overs, not the worst i’ve seen certainly, at least he replaced them on his own clock - some adjust after their move, even at this level
