After forcing the queen’s trade and Hikaru basically resigned, Artemiev in an act of chivalry offered a draw and put both kings on e4 and e5! He knew that Hikaru was fighting for the top spots. However, Hikaru very politely declined the offer, as he knew that objectively speaking with two pawns down he was lost against a player of the class of Artemiev. He said: « No it’s fine you won the game ». That is also very classy on Hikaru’s part. Many other GMs would have accepted the draw.
Congrats to both player for their excellent spirit.

when you accidentally drop a piece while playing, You're supposed to rearrange it before pressing the clock. He accidentally drops his King twice and pressed the clock without fixing the pieces. In this case, the opponent can complain to the arbiter. But since he didn't, Hikaru resigned after the second mistake.
That's why the opponent says "It's Fine" because it was just a mistake and he wouldn't mind keep playing. But Hikaru gave him the win.

for those of you who didn't get it, Hikaru knocked two of his pieces before pressing the clock, in the rules you have to fix the piece you knocked before you press your clock, in this game Hikaru did it twice so that's why he resigned, although Artemiev is already winning here, Hikaru could've continued playing the game still but resigned because he broke the rules twice, thats why Artemiev said, "its fine" like he wouldnt tell the arbiter about it.

i fell into this chess rabbithole and was rather excited to see distinguished folks being brilliantly professional but then ran into so many controversies and tantrums, finally found what i was expecting 😂(can somebody explain how black won, i thought it was a draw)

Hikaru violate the rule twice. In FIDE rule you need to re-adjust fallen pieces before you hit the clock, but hikaru hit the clock before fixing his king. In this case the opponent could complain to arbiter but artemiev choose not to do so. So hikaru resign out of his honor.
