    Dubov has been one of the only current top players to give me hope that there is still something to be found for the case of romantic chess. Enough with the boring theoretical lines that are 20+ moves deep... just look at this! Look at the use of raw intuition and sacrificing a pawn not even 10 moves into the game for active piece play. Truly a modern day, living inspiration for attacking and creative minds over the 64 squares.

      Go see Wei Yi and Mamedyarov 's games. They're not as solid as Magnus, but at least the games they win are not boring rook endgames with slight advantage

    • @iamh95
      @iamh95 5 місяців тому +1

      True, however it takes more than romantic chess to beat Carlsen and the future champions ahead of him.

    • @SeiferHartmann
      @SeiferHartmann 5 місяців тому +3

      @iamh95 Not according to Alpha Zero. Now if we as humans can just tap into that knowledge, if our understanding of the game can deepen to that level, then hopefully we won't have to sit through such dry stuff at the top. Don't get me wrong, Magnus is undoubtedly the strongest player we've ever had in history, but it's unfortunate that the bulk of that strength is only seen in grinding out meticulous endings, instead of getting a beautiful show in the middlegame instead. Of course, there are beautiful things to see in the ending as well, but it just doesn't compare to stuff like this.

      @kntbaden Місяць тому

      @@iamh95 true, however for some top end players (i categorize @Witty_Alien here too), to maintain an interest and to still enjoy and love the game, like dubov, they've realized they can sacrifice overall perfection and mix in aesthetics, and either make enough money or be happy enough, because face it, not everyone CAN be magnus carlsen.

      they also place their kings in the center of a board after that, you can see how did the game end by looking at colors of squares that kings are on, if they are on white/black - white/black won, accordingly, if one is on black and other is on white - it is draw

    The way Dubov would make quick moves like he is playing a 2000 is very interesting!

    Daniil was hoping Nihal would castle into a death trap. He is covering his eyes hoping Nihal doesn't read him
