You guys asked for it, so here it is! How to wheelie (Jon's Moto Garage Edition). I've only been in the wheelie game for about four months, so take ALL of this with a grain of salt. But here are my tips, tricks, and suggestions for learning how to wheelie in a safe and controlled manner.
    Gear I Use:
Lapel Mic w/GoPro Hero5 Connection (everything you need for audio setup): amzn.to/2Wzw6W1
    Simpson Bandit Ghost Helmet: amzn.to/2Go1RLI
    GoPro Hero 4: amzn.to/2t38USf
    Fox Gloves: amzn.to/2D30OOj
    #howtowheelie #howtowheeliemotorcycle #howtowheeliehondagrom #howtowheeliesupermoto #wheelietips
I recommend starting out on a pit bike or grom if possible, but these techniques apply to all motorcycles.
    1. Cover Rear Brake
    2. Clutch Up
    3. Cover Rear Brake!
    4. Adjust throttle, revs, body position, etc.
Hope you find this helpful! Ride safe and wheelie on!

Ive only been wheeling for about 3 months, and ive only ever crashed/looped once, and it was because i didnt use the back brake. i thought i could get away without using it, nah. you can only do it for so long before something bad happens, so cover the back brake, it has your back, quite literally.

    You had me at "2 people ... dag-namit that's enough" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Seriously though ... there's soooooooo much practical advice in here. It's about "thinking slow to act fast" ... too many people want to just "rip, shit and bust" but it's a far less expensive, painful and frustrating experience if you can be more patient up front and work through ALL of the unexpected feedback you're going to get from the bike. It's amazing how a 20 metre stretch can look like MILES until you're on the bike running out of space and forgetting to let go of the throttle / pump the rear brake / tank-slapping / slipping off the rear of the bike! Shit happens REAL quick until your brain is used to it and able to process things in slow-mo. Repetition. Repetition. Repetition.
Great video, man. And I love that 5 years later, it's still adding value 👍

I learned how to wheelie today with this video. And like with anything, I decided to do an extra run on the way back home and crashed. Thank goodness I had gear on. I didn't realize that I slid and hit my head until I got home saw my gear. A bunch of things on my bike broke and had to push the bike all the way to the garage. From now on only learning on a dirt bike on grass. Fuck that. P.s. body is all banged up.

I find that on a smaller engine (mines a 125cc), you're gonna need high revs and might even need to clutch up from being sat stationary due to the small engine size

    • @BigEvy
      @BigEvy 3 роки тому

On my xt 250 , you could get it to go up with the clutch , or on a steeper hill with the power.
My 500 wants to go up wherever if you throttle hard. Very different.
I’d say as you go up in bike torque , the easier it is to get the front up , but the trickier it is to do things gently .

Very good tutorial brotha. Thanks for putting cover rear break first. When I get my bike im going to practice behind my house on dirt for alil bit. Hard packed dirt. Ohh.. and I'm not getting the fz07... i really want to get that bike.. but all I could find for now is used 4,500..
But I am thinking of starting up my own channel and want to do a bike reveal when I get it and practice more. I seen in one of your vids you talk about moto jitsu.. that is exactly what I'm going to do for awhile.

However, just recently looped one! Strangely, did not feel like I was that far past 12 O'clock to tap the rear. Did you have similar feeling? My other friends who can ride wheelies for days tell me "looping is part of the process." I don't want to be discouraged, and once my subframe and subfender are replaced, I will be back to practicing!

Soon imma start practicing on the same Zx6r you had.should I drop the pressure on the rear tire?My rear brake feels like I have to press hard to engage!pads are brand new.fluid is low!that’s how I bought it.I’m gone add more fluid and try to bleed it and see if that works.great video bro makes me really want to practice.

Nice video bro! I think you explained it well. I can’t stand when ppl tell you to covet the brake. No you have to learn to use rear brake when its time other wise you will loop if you don’t have muscle memory. I learned the hard way by looping many time.
