MT09's love to get it up! And spin the rear at the same time in my experience... Between two cars when the idiot in his box on my right tried to push me out the way!
@@teapotone Just out of curiosity, do they ever bother you about your content? Try to get you back for choosing your passion over them? If it's personal or don't want to talk about it, I understand.
Hope this helps. You bike isn't made of glass. People lay their bikes +100 mph at track days every weekend. You probably already plan on changing parts out for aftermarket parts. Before you do that go ahead and learn to be the be the best rider you can on your bike before you fix it up.
Did a wheelie school some years ago. Biggest take aways for me were quick flick on the clutch (or simple power up wheelies), but mostly, more than anything, was sitting your arse back. That makes all the difference
Oh man I have been doing it all wrong. I have been holding the clutch all the way in. Reving it up 2 or 3 times then dropping the clutch when it peaks in RPM. These guys are just hitting the clutch in and out for only a second
I’m 30 and have been terrified for the last 3 years to wheelie because I’ve been riding alone. This video motivated me to get up , get out and wheelie something 😅 thank you for this 🎉
This is the video ive needed. Seeing a new person attempting wheelies with professionals. I tried doing some today and i see exactly what i was doing wrong. Will try again tomorrow to see if i can get it
Never been interested in doing wheelies but I do love it on the odd back roads when you get that front end lift without trying as you come up over little brows hard on the throttle.
For your 1st serious go at 2nd gear clutch up’’s you did well matey. Unfortunately will take a bit of practice 😉. Biggest struggle for me was overcoming not enough throttle. Think about catching just enough torque from the clutch to get the wheel ~3 foot in the air, then roll into it. Helps with 1st gear power wheelies too 🙂 Easier method consists of one step: Step#1 - Buy Superduke 1290r 😁
It’s not every day that you’ll find a guy watching other guys try to get it up 😂 but honestly I wish there were a school like this near me! Great stuff!
This video made me smile and frustrated at the same time. I've tried to teach this technique to lots of people with poor results. A few people get it but most don't. I learned on my own when I had my first bike and slowly progressed to where I'm at today. I've wheelied just about every bike I've ridden. Usually only takes one or two tries on a new bike. I'm also able to shift gears while on one. It's such a cool feeling once you can hold it for a while. Keep on trying people and don't crash !
What a fantastic video, thank you! I think besides the inherent fear of looping the bike that you mentioned, one thing that's holding me back is that if I _do_ wreck, I've lost my primary mode of transportation, at least until it's repaired.
Looks like this is the best wheelievideo out there. Proper explanation and a demonstration that it takes more than a few tries and that that is normal.
Great Video Bruce! i did the Yamaha Wheelie School and that was the same and taught me the basics, but instead of using the clutch they focused on the balance aspect... I went away from that and started practicing on "private land" & the BIGGEST & HARDEST part to nailing it is telling your hand not to drop the throttle when the front lifts... you tell yourself everytime and then your hand does it on its own... once that connection is made you can focus on the balance!
Hats off to you Bruce, top draw for having a go and I can relate to it being an unattractive feeling; wheelies just feels odd and yes, I call myself a biker even though I’ve not wheelies for a couple of decades!!!👍🤣👌
i just got mt-09, plenty torque and 2nd gear just pull handlebar and twist throttle at the same time,so smooth, baning clutch for me is pointlees, powerwheelie the best and safe :)
Great vid man! This is reality.. takes A Lot of practice to just get a smooth power wheelie. At the start of every season it feels like two steps forward and one step back, i have to re-learn my wheelie comfort zone
You're doing well for just a day of training. It took me couple of months doing power wheelies and on one of the afternoon i lift it a lot higher and managed to shift gears. The hardest part for me was the clutchups, it took about three weeks of frustration then got the timing right. Now I'm one wheel most of the time 😂
Loved it! Watching that brought back the laughs we had on the day. Even got Mrs Yox doing the "Nashnulls" whilst filming. You could definitely see your progress through the day Bruce and on your second visit you'll already be at the starting blocks for some extra length.....oooosh,
