- The cheap Cadillac Escalade engine swap is one of the most requested videos I've ever had. Everyday there are comments asking when it will be back, and here it is. We had to setup a new shop just to get this knocked out, all new lighting, tools, tool boxes... a lot had to happen to make this happen and now we're ready! The cheap 2011 Cadillac Escalade and its new L94 engine are ready to go, all that's left to do is take out some bolts and put them back in.

I've just cut the O2 off above the "nut" and then used a 3/4" breaker bar and socket. Then I'll run an O2 tap through to make sure the threads are good.
Good for you, I almost never took a vacation and man it's so nice when you just do whatever with friends and family 👍 Escalade should be getting really close now...
I used to drive taxi in Anchorage, Alaska. I met many people that did the cruises, most said the should have rented an RV and drove around Alaska at your own pace, instead of look here, look there and were moving. Miss Alaska, don't really miss the snow anymore. A bear eating blueberries on the side of the road and a police officer sitting there so people wont get out to take pictures and become part of the food chain.
You should get a shop like this with a lift. Perfect. Or like VGG. Nothing too huge, just enough to keep warm in the winter and cool in the summer without a $10k power bill
If you have the oxygen sensor red hot, you are heating the wrong thing!! Heat the nut it screws into, come on John.

Same here. I enjoyed the wildlife and seas, but one port town is the same as the next, plus the port excursions are over priced. I did like the Juno museum, botanical gardens and salmon hatchery.

Buncha entitled whiners here, you deserve a break, JR. You're absolutely right, 4 years of almost non-stop videos and HOW DARE YOU take a cruise!? Get over yourselves, people. JR is one of the hardest working automotive UA-camrs on the platform as far as I'm concerned. Go watch others that never finish projects or take weeks/months between videos if that's more your speed.
Oh you can definitely do that oil pressure sender with the intake on, and it absolutely SUCKS. The sensor itself isn't bad. Blindly unclipping that plug is a nightmare.

And the fiberglass firewall makes for fun itchy spots on your arm for a day or two
Easier to pull the intake. Good time to also torque the vlom plate bolts.

I did it on my 5.3 Avalanche and besides being scared of dropping the darn thing somewhere never to be found again, the itchy ground up knuckles made it fun for a few days after. But overall, you are spot on, it can be done no problem, but the itchy factor is a real thing!

Take an old kettle and use the metal element as a bolt heater, it would work as youlll control the heat and power.
Even an old coffee maker.

R134 is expensive but R1234YF is insanely expensive.
The oil pressure sensor replacement with the intake on is not that bad i pulled the oil screen out of mine when having issues with dod before i deleated it completely

I've always just used a propane torch and a little 8" pipe wrench to remove O2 sensors from rusty vehicles in Minnesota and I've never had any trouble.
Hi JR, I have been missing you but you deserve any time off you want to take, you are one of the hardest working guys on UA-cam. Glad you took a little vacation, sorry it didn't go good, but hopefully wasn't as bad as I'm thinking it was. I can't wait for the video on it. Glad you are back and somewhat rested. JR their are two kinds of people: Those who love cruises and those who don't. You and I are firmly in the latter.
Self care and taking time to recharge is very important. You work insanely hard, JR, and deserve more than just a few days off every few years. Don't forget to pamper yourself too! :)

I'm not usually the safety Nazi, but you need to block those tires in case one of the jacks lets go. A few blocks of wood could avert a serious accident. (I actually had it happen to a good friend of mine. It crushed his head. Yuck!)

I did a 10 day transatlantic cruise on the Celebrity Edge and folks...
It was like spending 10 days in an assisted living facility! I swear the average age on this boat was in the mid 70's! Now I don't mind being around older people, but for christs sake~! Half the people on board literally had mobility issues. While it was a nice cruise overall, there was NO partying worth mentioning.
Any cruise longer than a week gets seriously geriatric, and Celebrity is a bit staid overall....

JR I went through this on my Ls1 motor recently and had to do it the hard way by oulling the tc after the crank bolt came loose. I was so lucky that I had a set of my dad's old craftsman narrow wrenches that allowed me to get up in there and take the flex plate bolts off. I always though those wrenches were silly to have around but amazingly they saved the day, lol.
Another reason I prefer workin on Toyotas and Hondas lol 😂 my 4Runner and my Camry are a breeze compared to big chungus here.

I went on an 8 day to the Bahamas last year. I gained 10-15 lbs with all you could eat and drink! We also were trying to figure out how we could live on a cruise ship without our 3 kids. 😂

JR, my wife bought me an inductive bolt heater for Christmas a couple years ago. Came with a nice selection of coils, it was nowhere near $600 from Amazon. Definitely a timesaver!
So is the house shop search on the back , back burner now!??
I know this takes more time but remove the head and oil pan and pull the cylinder and rod

If you think 4-500$ is bad for a bottle of r134a, over here I Norway it’s 1500$ for the same bottle. 300$for the gas and 1200$ in environment fees… if you got it over there its a new compatible gas that’s way cheaper. It’s called r456a.

Jr., I lived in Alaska for 16 years, next time just fly to Anchorage and rent a vehicle and see Alaska the best way. You can see Denali Park , Kenai, Seward, Homer, Fairbanks, Glanallen, Valdez, Fairbanks, and much more. Some People take the Ferry from Seattle to Whittier then travel to Anchorage. You can also hire a bush pilot from Lake Spenard or Merril Field and fly over the state. The crusies are a great way to support everyone but Alaskans.

Hey I got the $175 1200w induction coil off amazon and it works great. I ordered the 10pc coil kit also which is $40 but I haven't even bent up the ones that came with it yet. The $600 inductor might be more compact but it does the same thing. oh and the 10pc coil kit is $200 for it. (they look the same as the $40 ones) lol

There’s a corded inductor for less than $200.
Also, cut the o2 sensor wire and put a box end wrench on it and just replace the sensor.
Try impacting the exhaust bolts/nuts IN before backing them out.
can you access the manifold bolts through the fender well?

@@WatchJRGo I get why you can't tell people because there's crazies out there and even with a Ring doorbell and a security system there's still nothing like being around your house for security. Many people fail to use the best security system their house has --- parking in your garage. Most my neighbors have no idea if I'm home or not because I always park my car in the garage.
