"Snif city royal hotel pool" is used in exactly one room that you walk through for about 10 seconds in a normal playthrough, there's just a random shy guy riding a toad as a surfboard on top of a water fountain
The most underrated song (imo) is actually in the first area, when you give the seed to grandsappy it plays a song, that you probably know, but after that there’s a BANGER that plays until you leave the room, which takes about 3 seconds, and it’s in the first area of the game so why would you go back there? Good thing you can return at anytime to hear it💫
I would just like to mention that Dual Bladed Duelist is a rock song that plays in the background of a fight between a paper version of Mario and a pair of scissors. Rock, Paper, Scissors.
So, a bit of context: The bosses of this game, AKA "The Legion of Stationery" all have their own small splash screen before their fights with their names and their self-given titles Colored Pencils - "The Missile Maestro" Rubber Band - "The Elastic Entertainer" Hole Puncher - "The Disco Devil" Tape - "The Shifty Sticker" Scissors - "The Dual-bladed Duelist" Stapler - "The Fanged Fastener" Their titles are the names of their respective boss themes. There's also a midboss theme that's just called "Boss Battle"
Would have been neat to have different fonts in their titles to match their feel. For example, the Godfather font was used on Tape for a video thumbnail by Juno Songs.
20:24 fun fact, no Nintendo game has ever won best music at the current game awards. And the only RPG’s that’ve won best music are Final Fantasy and Nier
It's a travesty to see TOK not win any awards or nominations in the Game Awards, nor the BAFTA or DICE awards. Sure, there were controversial game design choices, but music and art direction were at LEAST nomination material.
Were I a _paranoid_ man, I'd think that the exclusivity of Best Music nominations going to Square Enix games was more than just _coincidence._ (Were I _spiteful_ as well, I'd note that the games _clearly_ weren't being nominated based on _merit._ They've been re-releasing the same OST for the same game since 1997, barely changing any of the beats or innovating on the formula -- playing it safe to keep the investors happy, which resulted in a decade and a half of overhyped, _boring_ games that blur together after a while.)
Origami King not even being nominated at the Game Awards for Best Soundtrack, was the biggest robbery I've seen at the show :P Glad to see/hear the best Autumn theme aside from maybe Maple Treeway from Mario Kart^-^
Agreed its one of the better ones (I know people are not a fan of the battle system of Origami King but who cares about that when you have music like this!)
@@QuagBT422 I do think it's fair to not like Origami King, because having a battle system that doesn't feel rewarding can spill the whole mood for the playthrough. Also it is valid to be disappointed by partners or the plot. However, ignoring that banger OST might be a war crime, the vibes in this game are sooo awesome and the boss battles might honestly be the best of the series^-^
I wonder if you be checking out “paper Mario the thousand year door” when the remake drops. The soundtrack is definitely following this games footsteps
I'd say there are a few more to take a listen to for a theoretical part 3. Autumn Mountain Battle is probably the best variation of the normal battle theme. Purple Streamer is close behind. Thrills at Night and M-A-X Power are great non-battle songs. Happy & Sappy, Go with the Flow and Hearts a Burnin' are sleeper hit sing-alongs. As for bosses, Shifty Sticker, Middle Boss and Missile Maestro are bops. edit: Dread in the Temple of Shrooms 2 is movie quality of a creepy atmosphere
The Final Battle is phase 3 of the Origami King where he’s had enough. You have to fix special attack in under a minute or you die from poison, you also have to dodge attacks that Olly attempts to make in his giant form. When you fix the attack, you essentially smack him the face with a giant hammer repeatedly
The boss themes in this game are phenomenal, and while they're all rock, they each fit thematically and have little flourishes that fit with who you're fighting. The Fanged Fastener has Electric Guitar dog woofs, which is incredible. The speedy synths at the beginning of Dual Bladed Dualist remind me of scissor snips-- in fact, I fought the boss for the first time with low volume, and I thought they WERE scissors snips. It's my favorite boss theme btw
SO GLAD YOU CHECKED THIS OUT! highly recommend checking out the paper mario origami king line them up virtual concert in your spare time or on the channel. Its a virtual concert made during covid with over 100 musicians, amazing editing and videography, and with incredible music choices from paper mario as well!
the autumn mountain battle theme is probably the best battle theme in the game. But man, pretty much all the battle themes are top notch in this game anyways
You were actually quite accurate with Toad Town. The reason it says "Green Streamer Removal" is because it's a song that builds as you complete more of the game, and this is the final version after you've done everything except the final dungeon.
The fanged Fastener is one of my all time favorites. Such a banger for a stapler of all things. It’s so funny that a stapler wit the personality of a dog gets such a bop.
One song you gotta check out if you come back to this ahain is the Autumn Mountain Battle Theme! It goes so hard when it has no right to! Another one is called Middle Boss Battle, whicj is alsp a freaking banger. But yet, every song in this game is a banger so its very hard to choose a favorite 😂
i hope you revisit the soundtrack again at some point in the future, the game still has so many incredible songs its insane, one of the best videogame soundtracks i've ever heard
Honestly, if you ever make a part 3, you NEED to listen to the credits lol. They're like the feel-good, end of the game vibes of the green streamer song in this video mixed with melancholy. I grew up with a lot of video games, but they're some of my favorite credits
It took a while to notice, but Final Battle has 3/4 time, which very neat for a more emotional kind of ending with more personal villain (rather than a plain force of evil).
If a third video on this is ever done, you should 100% check out Middle Boss Battle. Elastic Entertainer, Shifty Sticker, Bowser's Encouragement and Hotfoot Crater are also personal favourites. Ones I like a bit less but still do like are Paper Mistake Buzzy Beetle and Missile Maestro. Mega Bowser Transformation and Olivia's Final Magic Circle are a bit short but really good as well.
The Legion of Stationary: The Missile Maestro, Colored Pencils - The boss guarding the red streamer on Overlook Tower who can use their dozen of colored pencils as missiles. Talented, but not as talented as he thinks. The Elastic Entertainer, Rubber Band - The boss guarding the blue streamer at the Big Sho’ Theater, this rubbery thespian can use its multitude of rubber bands to push you around the battle ring, and they seriously know how to STRETCH a death scene. The Disco Devil, Hole Punch - The boss guarding the yellow streamer in the Temple of Shrooms, a bit of a reclusive member who only does two things. Party down and punch faces. The Shifty Sticker, Tape - The boss guarding the purple streamer at the top of the Sea Tower. A mob boss who’s proud of its purple dispenser and fights real dirty. P.S. Do not call him tacky. The Dual-Bladed Duelist, Scissors - The boss guarding the green streamer in Bowser’s Castle. The bane of paper everywhere and King Olly’s top lieutenant. The Fanged Fastener, Stapler - The boss guarding King Olly’s throne room. This rabid dog is the reason why Olly’s army of Folded Soldiers can’t unfold themselves.
Part 3 🥹 I am thinking Middle boss battle Sensor Lab (One of my personal favorites) Exploring Shogun Studios The Great Sea The Princess Peach (Restoration Party) Thrills at Night (PLEASE) Also great video 👍❤
Dare we hope that this second look at the music of _Origami King_ is laying the groundwork for a look at the music of _Thousand-Year Door_ in a few weeks?
You don't have to watch it, but I think it's clear you enjoy this soundtrack, and I recommend you watch the lyrical package of this game's boss themes made by Juno Songs! It's really long, but in my opinion it's worth your time. The video is titled "The Legion of Stationery WITH LYRICS [FULL PACKAGE] - Paper Mario: The Origami King Cover"
"Snif city royal hotel pool" is used in exactly one room that you walk through for about 10 seconds in a normal playthrough, there's just a random shy guy riding a toad as a surfboard on top of a water fountain
Yeah I'm surprised she was able to guess that it was a song you only hear for a few seconds.
@@OrbitalLizardStudiosOne might say she sniffed it out 😂
Just pray and hope you got the toad on the surfboard before it disappeared forever!
Edit: Oh wait, they patched it out. Cool!

I would just like to mention that Dual Bladed Duelist is a rock song that plays in the background of a fight between a paper version of Mario and a pair of scissors. Rock, Paper, Scissors.
The irony that the theme for Scissors is rock and that they lost to paper will never not be funny to me
That distant thud you just heard was my forehead striking my desk. _How_ did I _never _*_notice_*_ that?_
WAIT THAT’S SO CLEVER I LOVE THAT
Funny thing is that it happens RIGHT after a boss that you have to play rock paper scissors against in order to win
So, a bit of context:

Bruh you as a piece of PAPER are fighting SCISSORS whilst the boss has a ROCK song.
Not only do these games not win awards for their soundtracks, they rarely get nominated for them either.
Yeah this one definitely by far has the best ost out of all 6 in the series
The Fanged Fastener is a Stapler that’s Canine-like. The finishing move of this boss you literally snap its jaw
Btw the instrument you hear in autumn mountain is an erhu which is like a Chinese violin and I think I hear a shamisen as well

@@Huy_YT Fair. Fair.
But I feel like people should just judge music, graphics, story etc, not gameplay-
But I digress.

The duel bladed duelist is a paper man 📃...fighting scissors ✂️...with rock music 🪨

What happens during Fanged Fastener? Oh, nothing special, Mario just BREAKS A DOGS JAW IN HALF!!! (Don't worry, it was an evil dog)
It's still actually so messed up, the way Mario kills all of the Legion of Stationary is brutal 😭😭
I shit you not, I’ve never been more scared from a pair of scissors until this game
Anything that can one shot you has a little extra terror especially when it slightly mixes up it's attacks so you have to change your timing
I’m very glad you continued to listen to this ost. So many good vibes and bangers.
Tysm for listening to this game’s OST again. This game has a special place in my heart for being my first console video game :)
You know that the composer cares about this, when a f***ing stapler has an incredible boss fight OST

What can I say? This OST rules
Just like Ollie tried to
SO Happy this OST gets more Love here
It makes me so happy to see others heavily appreciate this game's soundtrack. I feel less insane

The Final Battle is my favorite song ever in any Mario game, I'm really glad you love it!
Being someone who only barely remembers playing Color Splash back on Wii U, most of the non-battle themes caught me off guard.
The dual bladed duelist has the famous circus music in it if you listen closely or at least it sounds like it

Where’s middle boss 😭 it’s the best theme in the game
