now you can use that insane badge to beat the game instead of getting it at the end when there's no further peaks to climb
It’s a shame it’s not even that good. It doesn’t work against any of the late game bosses except 1 move from bowser and gloomtail each. The only chapter bosses it’s good against is smorg and Grubbs and they’re already trivial anyway.
@EmmyEntropy2000 still its a shame that you can't play with it through out the game in a normal playthrough as you're intended to get it after beating everything else, it would be fun as heck to use if gotten early enough
@@castlehair I agree. At its power level they could have placed it about halfway through the game to let people at least use it on enemies.
@EmmyEntropy2000 I'd say best place to put it would be after the glitzpit so it doesn't cheese the iron clefts... which is like early mid game
@@EmmyEntropy2000 Return postage doesn't work on smorg either
I can see it now
Hooktail hits you
Her attack is half-reflected back
Hooktail: "Oh dear Neptune."

@@tessaPMpro Well, at least you still get to get stomped by Hooktail's glorious feet

@@chompythebeast Lmao I see what you did there.
The Floor 100 Chest contains the Return Postage Badge, which causes attackers to take 50% of the damage they inflicted.
Thanks for telling me that! I was super ultra curious about what lied inside that mysterious chest…
My savior, was about to make a comment about why they didn't show what was in the last chest.
Thank you!

The unique approach of starting out at such low level and having a different way of progressing through the pit made me think how fun and cool it would be to make a roguelike mod out of ttyd's pit.
You're in luck because there's actually one. It's called Infinite Pit.
@@theicycharmander3324 the ttyd community never disappoints, thanks for the info!
The SNES game Lufia 2 has an "Ancient Cave" mode that's like this. There are 99 randomly generated floors, and you build up your characters from level 1, finding all equipment and skills from chests. There's some hacks for Final Fantasy 5 and 6 that do something similar. Would be sick to see something like that for this game
@@duckfistoh man I loved that challenge. Lufia II was such a good game, and had a pretty emotional story for such an early title. I never managed to defeat the King Slime the right way but it was a ton of fun getting there!
@duckfist there are already plenty of mods like that for this game. As someone else mentioned there is Infinite Pit, and there is also Shufflised Pit, and Randomised Pit. There is also a pit mod for the first Paper Mario as well called Black Pit which even has different modes like roguelike and classic.
That time when Mario got a bunch of gold bars, broke the time space continuum to turn into thin paper form, gambled all his money with the mob, waited almost a whole year in a dirty town for a single badge from a con artist, and warped time and space again to teleport onto a box - and the whole time without saving Peach.

fun fact: in the original japanese release, there's a bug that permanently removes the sack if you get it before chapter 2
edit: the bug occurs at a specific story event in chapter 2
as in it removes it from your character? And since there's only one place you could get it from you can't get it again since that's the one that was removed from you...
@@Nicholas_Steel yeah
I think it unlocks the blue cage with the Strange Sack. Likely an off-by-one error.
I'd hate to have my sack removed
@@accuratejaney8140 Sounds like a shared ID.
Ironically this challenge actually sets up probably the best use for bump attack. All the levels you got will let you skip fighting enemies for a while in the story, and you still have the entire story to play.
I can't stress enough how much this challenge fills a Stryder7x-shaped hole in my heart. Wondrous cheese I didn't think was possible out of this wondrous game. Also, subscribed for your other challenge trials.
I miss stryder a lot I always end up rewatching his videos
Now thats a Name i havent heard in years...
Now im sad.
You read my mind :(
Would be funny to see you beat the game after beating the pit.
Defeating the Pit and then going on to chapter 1 is a hilarious thought. "OH NO! Hooktail!" Mario: "I fought your cousin and won, you fucking noob."
POV there is an exit pipe every ten levels in the Pit of 100 Trials, however, you have to restart at the first level should you exit

TTYD is my favorite game of all time but there's no way I could even come close to achieving this. I'm immensely impressed not only at the fact that you pulled it off, but also at how damn good this video is
Love this video so much! Great format and really fun concept.
No fans of yours got this in their algorithm and also read the comments?? Guess I’m the first one. Haha
How fast can you beat the pit of 100 trials with a Geodude?
I did a Super Paper Mario run where I did the Flopside pit as early as possible (as soon as you get boomer). It was actually pretty easy, as I played defensively with boomer instead of acting wreckless, I took very little damage, and because my level was so low, I leveled up fairly often, giving a full heal every time that happened.
Tbh though, I wasn’t doing it for the challenge, I was doing it because I wanted to see what it was like to use Dashell on the hamster wheel things in the mansion.
That breaking bad bit with Mario was fantastic editing. Well done
I’m sure all the people who haven’t seen breaking bad and got spoiled are thinking the exact same thing

I remember spending countless hours trying to beat this challenge. When I finally defeated BoneTail, it was the most relieving feeling in my life. I have never had my willpower tested so hard in my life. This will forever be one of my favorite Mario games.
Fire Drive is my favorite badge, I always do Pit just to get that badge and then if I get another with Ice Power, I just love it's lethality.
The hardest challenge of the game is actually getting a copy of it for a good price
There’s going to be a Switch port sometime this year. If the glitches aren’t patched you can try it on that.
Edit: Nintendo’s website, which I would assume to be a reliable source, puts it at 22 March so it’s pretty close. I’d link it, but UA-cam doesn’t play nice with those.
I never thought I’d see new content regarding my favorite game of all time. This is truly a blessing.
def one of my fave games of all time, if you didn't know its remaster got announced the other day for the switch won't be till 2024 tho sadly

This is insane. I barely managed the 100 floors at endgame levels of strength, let alone starting strength!
ive never played this game before but the way you laid out all the info made this video super digestible you really deserve more viewers
How on EARTH did I end up watching this right before the announcement...
fantastic video, ofc
I’ve never played Paper Mario, but this video was very interesting to watch! You did very well describing the strategies you used and I appreciated your use of footage to demonstrate each enemies different attacks. Great video!

I remember trying this when I was a kid. Except I didn't do any glitches, so I went in after chapter 1. Think the furthest I ever made it was 40, maybe 50. All I know is it was insane
Hope you did make it to 50, and wondering when I should try to get there myself on my current run. The strange sack seems a lot more useful the earlier on you get it.
I could get down to 40 in chapter 1 but any deeper than that I never dared to try
Love this! This is my favorite game of all time and its clear you’re really knowledgeable about it. Feel free to branch out but more TTYD content is awesome too!
Dude, I can't even beat it normally. This is amazing, great job man!
This is godly badass content beating the pit of 100 trials in the prologue. I didn’t think it was possible.
It has been possible since 2017.

@@kr1me2000*is on the video*
@@kr1me2000me when I lie
I made it twice in the past, I can say that is "the longest" for sure, "the hardest" a little bit, is harder tracking down every enemy in the encyclopedia
Great video! I like that you gave clear deacriptions of each enemy, since I've never actually played ttyd and knowing what was actually going on made the challenge level much more understandable
This is quite impressive. Due to being able to prepare helped out a lot, but according to these rules it could have honestly been not nearly as difficult as you had it.
If you are letting yourself have everything at your disposal in the prologue section, you could theoretically farm star points until you are at max level. You even said yourself you earned a Pretty Lucky from fighting a Spinia. Because of this, the prologue challenge really only limits your crystal star, items, and badges, which I will say is still rather impressive.
However, I think a minimal challenge, one that does not collect anything beforehand, would be the ultimate test in skill for the trials. Because according to those rules, you wouldn't be able to rely on boosting levels. You'd still have access to Charlieton (whenever he'd appear, at least) as well as all the coins, items, badges, and star points you earn on your way, but would it be enough? I'd think so, especially if it's tool-assisted, but even in regular play, I think a true Paper Mario expert could do it, although it would probably take quite a few number of tries!
Great job on the challenge!
On my replays I always beeline to the pit to nab the Strange Sack. Beat Bonetail before Hooktail once just to see what it'd be like. Great game.
I’m in stitches from the references XD Hectors explosion was hilarious
I saw on a forum in 2008 that someone had claimed they beat pre-hooktail pit of 100 trials. (different than prologue a bit). That's impressive too.
Thank you kind sir. Love watching these kinds of paper mario vids, even more when its explained as well as this. ❤
This was a masterpiece of a video keep of the great work. Your editing is so satisfying!
Wow ! What an amazing video. Very good explanation and description of enemies on the floors. I really enjoyed watching the video ⚡
This would be interesting to see if it is still possible in the remake
This was really impressive - have played the game many times casually I had no idea how you were going to tackle this, great job!
Well done! I don't even plan on playing this title, much less taking on this particular challenge -but I still watched it until the end regardless. You did a great job balancing explanation with straightforward instruction, so it didn't feel meandering or tangental -and you did a great job showing and giving solid advice about fight mechanics.
Dude love your content and the drive you have at making these videos entertaining with multiple visuals you made yourself depicting the battle segments, and your very well done meme placements in editing. I see your hard work and love for your content, as well as your dedication to being an expert at the game, you deserve to be a very popular UA-camr and I'm proud of your growth. I just liked and Subscribed to your video.
the earliest i ever beat the pit was right after I got bobbery as a partner, and that was pretty tough. But an advantage of beating it earlier rather than later is you level up much more the earlier you beat it, so you don't need to stock up on super shrooms or FP items, rather you can stock up on attack items.
Imagining needing hp items, couldn’t be me (danger strats OP)
@@theguythatasked6400 danger strats are for noobs, if by danger strats you mean lowering Mario's HP to 5 and equipping more than 2 Power Rushes.
@@tessaPMpro yeah that shits literal baby mode lol
Super great video for being one of your first ones man! Keep up the solid work!
This is such great content. I believe if you keep it up and you'll have a huge viewer base in no time!
In Super Paper Mario, I've once beaten the Flopside Pit of 100 Trials as soon as it was unlockable as a kid. I completed the first time without dying, screwed up the second time and did it again, only to lose to Shadoo in the third time, and having to complete it in a fourth time. I've spent a fricking weekend on this; I could've studied for my math test.
Side note: after beating it, Bowser got so overpowered that the gameplay has gotten really boring from that point onwards.
I've completed this challenge many a time, albiet it was just pre-finishing chapter 1 because I never knew about the paper mode glitch. I also of course used partner mega rush from petalburg. I loved getting all of those satisfying super defends. Then going through the rest of the game is a breeze. Loved this breakdown.
Seeing your stats climb like crazy from the small stats at the start to the very high ones by the end really cements that this wasn't really intended be tackled until after the final boss or just before it.
I like this strategy video, since it's clear, pretty concise, and admits to the use of exploits of better prep (and tells you how to do it). Some of the existing Prologue Pit run videos mention this too, but most don't go as in-depth during the prep phase while being concise.
If the target audience is reasonably experienced PM TTYD players who are thinking about trying this challenge, he hit the nail on the head perfectly.
I don't recall if he mentioned level-up healing as a strategy, but it can be. Don't waste healing items. When it's more important, you might get FP level high enough that it alone will last to the next level up, or 1-2 Sweet Treats. But maybe he assumed the audience knew about this strategy anyway.
Spiked Parabuzzies are annoying without Flurrie, true. But he didn't mention to equip Zap Tap. If you miss a Superguard, that will cause them damage anyway.
Goombella's Tattle can be used, even on a previously tattled enemy, with Stylish to generate more audience cheer than Appeal by itself can.
Not enough FP for a battle? Sweet Treat and run.
I do however, wish he suggested times or Pit Levels where you might wish to focus your level ups in certain categories. For example, I haven't found FP to be super important until the 40s, so maybe load up on BP or HP until then. Things like that.
The pit is the best way to level up, by far. 90-99 are make or break as a player
I make it up to floor 90 after chapter 4 and continue on with the game from there
man I remember attempting this challenge myself a few times but with *much* less prep than you did. The furthest I ever made it was somewhere in the 80s.
Lovely video! I love seeing people do challenges of this game!
The funny thing is I just recorded the pit in a Danger Mario run and I beat Bonetail in 4 jumps. I love pushing Danger Mario to a point where I can do that. Took me only around an hour 30 to beat it this time. Long live Danger Mario!
Danger Mario is so much fun! I do it with each file I make on ttyd and the original.
@@Zonefire15 It's why I was recording it for a lets play. To show off how nutty it gets.
Danger Mario is the lamest strat there is, if you can even call it a strat with how mindless it is.
@@tessaPMproIt's fun who cares
@sairentoeko how is mindlessly killing everything in one hit fun? Games are fun when they're made harder, not easier.
i love this video cuz this was something i always thought about as a kid when playing, i tried many times but thought it was too strong for me. So cool to see its actually possible, in the prologue segment no less
I make two trips to the pit: once after the Twilight Town chapter to get the Strange Sack, and again before entering The Palace Of Shadow to complete the entire pit.
17:30-17:41 The editing for this bit is immaculate
IKR, I was cracking up so hard at that point
super paper mario has 2 pits of 100 trials
I still remember the agony to this date of doing both of them
I see bonetail on lists and just reviews of the fight itself, never about what to expect on your way to the actual fight which is harder than bonetail's fight at the end. That deserves props that you reviewed every aspect of the normal fights.
Holy crap. 60 SUBSCRIBERS (At the moment)?!?!?!????!!! I thought you would have 50k+ fom the quality of this video alone. Keep it up! Even if i haven't played ttyd this left me pretty engaged and was easy for me to understand
technically every floor with Para enemies also has their normal version because if you jump on Para enemies, they lose their wings.
Immediately I'm thinking you're going to super guard everything. But I'm entering with an open mind. I'll come back and edit this later if I remember to.
Solid video my guy hope you make more cool challenge videos
You’re telling me that I COULD beat Bonetail this early!? I was an idiot and decided to attempt the pit after getting the 1st Crystal Star, but couldn’t defeat Bonetail (I thought it could heal unlimited times, but turns out it can only do it twice, as you said in the video). I ended up going back to my last save as I thought it was impossible in my current state, and losing 2-3 days worth of progress (yes, it took me a while to get to this point). And now I found out I could have done it all this time.
This seems more like a tutorial than a "is it possible" or "how I did this"
Omg I loved this video, 10/10. Keep creating more TTYD content please! PD: I tried once to beat the pit with only the firsts 3 parteners but i've only reached floor 99, it was impossible to me to kill the final boss
you are making this seem so easy... i need to play again, i miss this game so much! thank you for this great video, brings back so many memories

this is amazing
could have never guessed this was your first video, it was amazingly done!
Wdym? They have loads of other videos on their channel
@@CurlyChop they said somewhere near the end of the video something like "this is my first real video"
Floors 11-20: You don’t need to Superguard the balls from the Piders, because you can’t damage the enemy when you Superguard the projectile. Just do a regular Guard for a looser timing window.
The balls deal 2 damage sometimes, and normal guards only reduce the damage by 1.
If they change anything in the remake, I hope they change the jackpot to where it doesn’t take an entire year or skipping to get a single badge.
this guy just casually get the lucky lotto jackpot for the prologue. I would never bother to set this up so kuddos to you! great video with a really fun premise!
Cant wait to relive this in the remaster next year

AWESOME VIDEO! What a first attempt! I’m so impressed!!!
Thanks (for once) UA-cam for the new rec. Very good video.
I sometimes like to cheese the bonetale fight using the baby yoshi, some trial stew and some of the badges that increase attack when in danger and or peril... It literally allows you to with the battle in one turn if done correctly...
This is actually insane. Good job man!
This was very informative, interesting, and cool that you can beat the pit this early.
I had to go back and rewatch the time stop part multiple times because it was so good, and I had to double check what was going on LOL
Probably going to be buried, but my girlfriend who is playing through TTYD for the first time just took on the pit at the end of chapter 6, after a GAUNTLET for a beginner she made it to bonetail fresh off a level up but no life shrooms.
She was nearly dead with all starpower gone and she pulled a bingo on shine sprites, we POPPED OFF and that gave her the momentum to finish the pit. I dont think ive ever been so proud!

Incredible video! Woulda been cool if you documented each time you failed and had to start all over. I was under the impression while watching that you were using save states, since this is crazy hard. In the end you implied that you weren't using save states; if I had known that, and the vid was presented with more of a linear storyline, then it would have been even cooler.
