    Audi has expanded its plug-in hybrid range with the arrival of the Q5 plug-in hybrid. Two versions are available: the entry-level 50 TFSI e, and the more powerful 55 TFSI e. Both models deliver up to 26 miles of electric-only range from a 14.1kWh battery, but how does the Q5 PHEV stack up against the competition? Step forth, Vicky Parrott…

    @DrivingElectric All of the Volvo T8's also have such 'smart' feature that uses the SatNAV and by adding a 'waypoint'. The system knows the road and will divide all of the battery capacity over the complete journey to keep fuel usage low. It works very consistently but the car needs to be 'connected' via its 4G modem. Plus I consistently get 40km in hybrid and 45km in Pure ( with a V60) with a smaller battery 10.4kWh compared to this Audi's 14.1kWh.

    That price is way too high though. 2hr charge for 38 km sounds terrible.
    Anyway, great video like always Vicky. Thank you.

    • @maxnewts

      Roll Cam 🎥 most things should be hybrids, there’s no point these days having things be completely reliant on engines not just because their not clean but because they aren’t great for efficiency if their solely diesel or petrol. And it’s not like they’re not cheap, you can pick a Zoe up for less than £6,000 these days, and even those get good mileage

    • @maxnewts
      @maxnewts 4 роки тому

      Realist 1801 it’s not a diesel it’s a 2.0t petrol

      Max Newton yes but here in the states from what I’ve seen the maintenance on the hybrids can be costly.

      Lidet yilkal I didn’t get one installed. It is ok to use chargers I your local area. Google where your nearest charging points are.

  • @chitpaul

    In a few years time then, when we have better infrastructure and all have access to our own home charging point... we don’t all have access to a home charger or even a work charger as many work places are heading to public transport access, going green. I’ll stick to buying a full hybrid at half the cost from Lexus or Toyota then. Maybe in the future this will work for me.

      Blauberti Build Quality of a Tesla is NOWHERE near that of an Audi or BMW. Have you seen the stitching on the seats in a Tesla? The huge gaps between the dashboard and the doors? It looks like a child as put it together. I agree Tesla’s have amazing tech, but their interiors are nowhere near the level of the Germans, or Volvo.

      Why PHEV over EV? Mostly because of range and charging infrastructure. You still have to plan for long road trips with an EV and it will take more time to charge. That may change eventually. In the meantime many people cover their EV range in town during the week, and no worries if you want a longer road trip. In terms of cost you'd be better off with a Prius PHEV if course but that's a different class.

    By the time this is finished, it's a 70K car. Too much for 22 real world miles. The Ford escape (granted not as plush) will offer 30 miles and more rear room for 25K less.

    • @shanjanusman9974
      @shanjanusman9974 4 роки тому

      It's expensive

    • @luc7976
      @luc7976 4 роки тому

      And note 30 miles is according to EPA which is typically 20-25% lower than European estimates. That will be more efficient and better value but very different car class. In this class it would be more like a Tiguan PHEV if that one is coming?

    Plugging Hybrid is waste of time & money anway, considering 55k price tag, is it twice better than EV cars??
    The answer is definitely NOT....

    • @erikrusso9808
      @erikrusso9808 4 роки тому +5

      Not really, I can go to and from work with full electric, but on longer trips or if I'm driving fast I can have the petrol engine as well. And there are great tax cuts on plug-ins so if you lease them they are cheaper than the regular version, plus all the money you save on gas
