- In this video, I show you what is, in my opinion, the best way to approach 3-note per string scales. This is a very short summary of a guitar hack I am teaching my Skype students and they are seeing great results. To find out more, book a lesson with me by emailing me camcooperguitar@gmail.com or DM me on Instagram @guitarmancam

A totally unsolicited response here. I can totally vouch for Cameron's lessons they not only transformed my playing but gave me confidence to play more difficult music. I can't recommend Cameron to any guitarist whatever your level. Commit & you'll get the rewards.
Thanks so much Don! It's my privilege and pleasure to teach you. You've come a long way! I hope all is well with you and take care.
This is a very underrated lesson. Helped me a lot with using 3nps scales for more melodic lines
True story! Cameron Cooper can give Tom Hanks a run for his money on being the nicest person in the world
Tom hanks is creepy af
But Cameron is dope! 😂
Watch Hanks in the movie Perdition....not so nice 😏
This is awesome , opening doors faster than I can walk through them , love this 2 finger per 3 note , very cool and so helpful to merge around neck more , thanks Cameron
Your vids are always worth the time. Hope the teaching is going great for you.
I always felt trapped in the scales. About to go out and teach a guitar lesson on 3-note per string scales and this has helped massively.
You're welcome! Credit me for the knowledge ;)
@@CameronCooper I’ll embed the video in the lesson notes!
Great lesson, thanks very much. You just forgot to mancan it is in drop tuning ❤
3 notes per string? I’m your man!
Awesome, simple and eye opening video Cameron. I can't wait to close the bar and get home tonight to try this out. Thanks, bro 😀
I guess you closed the bar for since then... and you guitar playing went up the roof! viva el lockdown - good for guitar progression!! im on guitar everyday . all best mate
Now I want to learn to play that intro 0:24
I know this is a late comment but this is helping me a lot with the crazy petrucci stuff i've been trying to learn lately
Awesome stuff man
Amazing playing! I have learned a lot from your videos.
Thanks Cam great tips, breaking the scale postions into 2 strings and playing them across the fretboard seems to unlock more user friendly patterns
Excillent lesson...I acully teach the same thing to students..."find your notes
To the scale u want all over the guitar."
Wen u get used to it you get more creative...and see how it all goes back to major scales wen connected.
Then u can even make your own scales wen u get it down... Again as Always KILLER PLAYING and great lesson... I just got an orange sunburst charvel pro with the baked fretboard mostly from watching you play it
And you again are rite
OFF THE HOOK.
thanks bro
Damn I dig that blue Charvel you're rocking! I thought I was jelly about that orange one.. aswell as its' grey brother there - which I am! - but that blue one just hits everything I'm looking for in an S type. Minus the contoured heel, though, by the look...
I'm buying shell pink 3rd brother to the grey and orange this week. Sigh...my last colour choice, but so long as it shreds, right?!
Your teaching is really good. I like it so much. Please slowly teach
Amazing !!

So this was very interesting...I have been trapped in the box. This really got me sounding...wait...got me Feeling the music. Thanks............... Anthony
Wow ! What a cool idea
Your unreal man, can you do some improv lessons
That's really kind of you man! Thanks so much!
How did you comment on this video 23 hours ago when the video hasn't even been up for 23 hours?
My right wrist: *don't even think about it*
Modes*
?
@Cameron Cooper he’s saying they’re called modes cause modes have 3 notes per string
A Cam Jam!!!...🤙😎🤘
Is it best to use your index, middle and pinky always for 3 note per string? Do ever use your ring finger the higher you move up the neck?
The best way is what's most natural for you to achieve the result you want. Anyone who says there's a specific way that should be done is bs. Really important to try new things out and discover what feels right for you. I use all my fingers and the little finger comes out a lot a well because there are certain finger combinations that feel perfect with little finger involved.
Great lesson take the known and make music with it
Thank u bro !
I’m gonna slow this down to 1/4 speed now so I can try and understand what your doing…😂😂😂
The notes you tabbed into the vid are a scale? If so what's his name?
Or more two scales combined?
This blue super strat sounds fine!
Thank you
Have a nice day ✌
🙋
It's the g major scale. I didn't tab, I just stole a diagram from Google
Hey Cameron, how do you get your strings so low on the fretboard without all the buzz ? I lowered my strings like that before and I was playing licks I had never been able to play before, too much buzz
You promised and delivered great lesson but i have one question what is that gorgeous looking brown guitar
Evh wolfgang wg ziricote top ... a 2019 model
So are you basically saying to use your index finger as a base and use the ring and middle finger to fret notes?
No... or I would've said that
If I'm not halucinating, you're using 3 fingers instead of two most of the time. So what's this 2 finger mantra about?
I am using different fingers throughout the lesson. The main point is breaking up 3 note per string scales by using the same fingers you'd typically play a pentatonic scale with, whatever they may be in your case.
Your sound / tone is just fantastic sounding , and I have very average at best speakers on my sub $300 dollar Laptop !! I know you use the Yamaha THR 10 C or X which I had the 10-X model but just couldn't find yours or any tones I was happy with . I got a Blackstar ID:Core 10 - V2 and other then not getting as much Gain as I would like its been a much better fit for me personally . I know those 2 get compared a lot and I would advise anyone Beginner to Captain Shred to go try before you buy !! They both have their good and less good parts lol Thanks Cameron !!
I like your maroon shirt. I am also wearing a maroon shirt.
Show 👏👏👏👏👏🙌
May i ask what pedal you use to get that tone?
I don't. This was a Yamaha THR10X at the time
Great sound.
Which amp did you use?
A Yamaha THR30II
🤘🤘🤘
What is the Skype email. Thk
Did u used compressor?
Nope
@@CameronCooper don't lie
@@MikeLalneoDon't bite back when you're the one looking for help. I gave you an honest answer. You're the one watching How To videos and asking questions in comments, I could have just ignored you. No, I don't use a compressor.
@@CameronCooper ufff very rude. Never did how to videos. Shame
@@MikeLalneo You accused me of lying when I helped you out. Who's being rude? Go and figure things out for yourself Mike if you don't trust the information other people can offer you.
Do you have any openings?
Hi Larry yes I do. Please drop me an email camcooperguitar@gmail.com
Great instruction thank you! On a side note, you are like the British version of Cooper Carter or he is the American version of you lol. The similarities are uncanny: You both have "Cooper" in your names, you both are phenomenal guitarists, and you both have YT channels lol
What string gauge do you use Cam?
@ElixirStrings Optiweb 9-42
what guitar is that?
Japanese made Charvel San Dimas
Cam blows eddie van Halen out of the water....dude you kick ass...dam..makes me want to smash my guitars
Na, eddie is the og
That's very kind of you to say that man! Thank you!
Another kid on an ego trip. Just explain the lesson.
If you actually listened to the video instead of having your head in the comments section complaining I explained myself clearly. The idea is that you play 3 note per string scales in a pentatonic fashion so you can make use of some of the more expressive techniques like bending, vibrato but it also gives you the scope to create new phrases. It's a concept to try out rather than a set of specific licks to practice. As for the ego remark, if I was ego-driven I would not care enough about other guitarists enough to set aside the time to make video lessons.
This guy sounds like he's had too much coffee. Way too fast. Not very good.
You mean my playing or the way I talk. I understand the talking part, but my playing isn't that fast come on now.
