I had a direct abdominal hernia pop out about 8 months ago. Strained my abs while losing my balance on a squat….. luckily it wasn’t in my inguinal canal. Old man at the gym said “that ain’t nothing I’ve healed 3 of them”. So I started pushing it in and holding it in every night. I’d reduce it in the morning, pack it with cotton ballls, and duct tape it. I then started pushing it in and planking while activating my abs holding it in. Started fasting to reduce abdominal girth and inflammation. Kept doing it and kept doing it. I can’t even tell where it was now. Everyone swore it couldn’t be done. I didn’t think it could be either. Well it happened. I went from a golf ball sized protrusion during 4th of July this year to nothing. I am no strong man, but I still lift very heavy with 315 squats, 405 dead’s and 120lb db play. I don’t hold back at all anymore and the more I train my core the better it’s getting. Had my inguinal canal been involved I would have gotten the surgery more than likely. Good luck sir!
Thanks for your story. And Keep Moving...Mine is in my inguinal canal. I don't have a "golf ball" poking out buy a lot of fatty tissue that has come out and spread like a flat mushroom. In order for me to continue with Strongman to get the numbers I need I have to have surgery but they type of surgery I am having will be easy peasy with a short recovery time. Just listen to your body and keep doing your thing.
Good luck with the procedure and recovery, bro. You'll be lifting in no time.
About 6 weeks and I will be back at it.
