    M.Night Shama - I can't even spell that-, he is such a good story teller.
    I think people tend to pigeon hole him as being horror when I think it's more like Hitchcock. He like psychology and that good storytelling element that keeps you on the edge of your seat- being creeper out by what might be going bump in the night. The right mix of funny, real/relatable, and unsettling.
    I bet he tells his kids great bedtime stories.
    Forgive the typos. I am too lazy to go inside for my glasses.

      I’ve typed his name 10 times during this process, and I’ve had to look it up 10 times. 😁 And YES! I definitely agree with you on the Hitchcock comparison, 100%. Marc is a great example of someone who does NOT like horror, but really enjoys the M Night films. The only movie of his I’ve seen that I remember not liking as much was The Happening. But I should probably revisit it sometime.

      U could be so right about him telling his kids bedtime stories cause his daughter recently made her own directorial debut & I believe had a hand in the writing. It's in the horror genre, & I've been hearing got good reviews.

      God. Yes. That’s before I knew who she was- I don’t think I’d seen Muriel’s Wedding yet- but I remember very specifically thinking she was amazing. One thing I really love about her career is that she plays such a variety of roles, from comedy to horror to drama, and she’s consistently good.

    Wait, there's more! I should have said: First watch Sutton Foster perform the number with the Broadway cast. Find it online as, Anything Goes - 65th Annual Tony Awards. 🌈 I had never seen an actress in that role (Reno Sweeney) take that active a part in the dance number, usually she sings a few bars and falls back and lets the dance ensemble do their thing and then joins in near the end to belt out the finish. Sutton stays dances thru the number and still belts out the finally. What stamina and lung power.

      I will definitely have to watch. My first experience with her was watching the show Bunheads, and I thought she was great. Then I found out she was a Broadway powerhouse, and so I learned more about her great performances. Haven't seen this one though, so thanks!

    Not to be crass, but this movie fuuuucked me up! Woof.
    BUT I HAVE TRIVIA!!!! So this movie is set just outside Philadelphia, in NEW JERSEY! My hooome! The cabin is deep in the woods of the Pine Barrens off of route 70 which goes east-west across central NJ (and is where the Jersey Devil is said to live). When the dad and Wen pull out and drive towards Philly at the end, 1, you cannot see the Philly skyline from there, at all lol, and 2, they stop at The Dairy Bar! I have driven that road to and from Philly hundreds of times in my life so even though the movie messed me up I got so excited to see that landmark featured in the film. But I do want to stress you absolutely can’t see the Philadelphia skyline from there, lol

    • @DavidvsFilm
      @DavidvsFilm  12 днів тому

      Hahaha definitely noted that you CAN NOT see the skyline ;) You KNOW how much I love trivia though, so thank you!! I love folklore creatures like the Jersey Devil, btw. I always thought those kind of stories are so great. Did you ever see Mothman Prophecies?

    • @saraann3281
      @saraann3281 12 днів тому

      @@DavidvsFilm YES and it scares me more than the Jersey Devil LOL "... chaaaaappppstiiickkkk" And when I first saw it I was fairly young and had grown up with a neighboring town named Point Pleasant, too, so I kind of thought he could come our way. I've always had a vivid imagination ;) I was always more afraid of encountering the Mothman than the JD when driving route 70 at night though, because it's 1 lane each way, NO lights, just surrounded by trees. Scariest that ever happened was just a deer leaping across the road haha.

    I did read the book first but I still really liked the movie even with the changes they made. The movie ended with hope, where the book did.. not really and was even more ambiguous. I may or may not have thrown it across the room at one point lol and never could decide if I loved or hated it. It sure sat with me for days though. Loved your guys’ reaction to the film, made me tear up! Did you react to Signs on the channel, or you’ve just seen it before? I think that one might be my personal M Knight favorite, although, yeah, sixth sense is also way up there.

      I LOVE when books can have that effect!! You have no idea who much I wish we had not already seen Signs, Sixth Sense, and other M. Night movies, but alas.. If we watched them now, they'd be just for fun/commentary, and while I think that's great for certain movies like comedies, the ones like his that rely on a plot twist kind of suck for non-first-time viewing. But if you think I'm wrong, let me know because I would LOVE to re-watch those movies with my UA-cam friends ;)

A lot of people were not a fan of this movie, but since I hadn't read the book first, I liked it. I can understand why those who did read it first were unsatisfied since the ending was changed a bit, but hey. Ignorance is bliss! Haha. Also good job Marc, with the early horsemen prediction!

    • @DavidvsFilm

      Hey Frank!! Not at all! Marc didn’t know squat about the movie whatsoever until I told him, and all I knew (before looking it up recently) was that some reactors did it about a year ago, and that it was a Dave Bautista horror movie. So I had actually earmarked it as a possible Halloween season watch one day. But then a couple of people on Patreon recommended it to me for this month, and that’s when I read it was M Night Shyamalan. We both know Jonathan Groff (but we didn’t know he was in this), and I am just now meeting this Ben Aldridge! I definitely want to see more with him 😁 Oh and I also read after the movie that he’s British! He does one of the best, most natural-sounding American accents I’ve ever heard. Happy Pride!
