This film was actually really good. The pacing, the setup, the exposition, leading into the climax and Night still has it with his directorial leadership. The camerawork was crisp and just hit all the notes. But the reason why people disliked this film is the same reason that made it so good. Shyamalan opted to keep the skeleton of the story inside of the cabin, exposition being delivered in flashbacks or in the Cinematic disasters, you feel like the hostages. Watching as spectators, but not fully enveloped in the danger. It made the atmosphere more eery and claustrophobic, but we couldn't feel the tension like it was happening to us. Then you have the fact that everyone built their hopes up for a major twist, when M. Night Shyamalan played it straight, everyone's hopes were dashed. Normally I'm on the side of the audience, since films are made to be watched, but this time I'm backing Shyamalan. This film was a good film, people just had their hopes up too much and that isn't Shyamalans fault.
Or people could of disliked this movie because they are sick and tired of the old "people bash gays!" troupe that just isn't true. @@British_Dragon-4K-Simulations opps, I should've clarified what I was speaking about. I was speaking about the catastrophes that were happening that didn't directly influence what the main characters were feeling or their decision making. One innocent child, one dead set to deny the happenings and one true believer. Due to a lot of the happenings being fought against by the non believer, it didn't feel personal and you couldn't really feel the weight of their decisions until the climax. Which by that point, the tension was already stale because we the audience, already know it's true. Sorry for not clarifying, but don't insult my intelligence with a comment with the wit of a seven year old.
@That Canadian Vaper Guy My comment was not intended to be insulting at all. It was a genuine question. Thanks for insulting me for no reason though. Wow.
We were able to see this movie yesterday, had no idea what it was about, just two guys married with a child at a cabin in the woods. We thoroughly enjoyed this movie! Now, watching this video, we plan on watching it again when it comes to streaming. Thanks for this video!!
I just watched this movie last night, I have to say it was very well done and worth a view. Bautista, truly surprised me with his acting, I suspected what the other said, though when Leonard said that they weren't necessarily there to hurt them nor held any hate towards them I believed it....honestly all these actors did a great job. And while the ending upset me due to how this family was broken down, when the first horseman (Redmond) died and I saw how Eric reacted, I could tell that at the end he was going to make the suffice. In the movie, I could understand why they made the decision as they did have to think of their daughter Wen's future...but in case of the book where Wen had died, I can not see them doing it. I don't feel that in the movie that if Eric hadn't pleaded with Andrew and telling him how that him and their daughter would grow up and be ok that Andrew would have been ok with making a decision...afterall why would he make a decision to save a world where he had no one, him losing his daughter, him losing his love. Why would he care about the world when the world took everything he held close to him?
It would be a great ending if the family managed to escape and kill the 4 then once they got out of that forest the world was ending right before their eyes.
Farcry 5 did something similar, the ending makes you wonder... was the cult right all along? Then Farcry New Dawn happened which kind of says... yes the cult was right.
Kinda reminds of that 2009 movie The Box based on a short story where they too are faced with a moral dilemma not knowing if it's true or not and the consequences weigh heavy on them.
M. Night has definitely had some stinkers. But he also has the talent for brilliance! And with this one, he actually improved upon the book imo. The resolution that the 4 Horsemen were legitimate. Along with Eric's noble sacrifice for to save his daughters future. Makes the film's conclusion more powerful.
Liked this one. Felt refreshing to be a more straightforward story than something convoluted. Though was freaky how not too long after the movie was released, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit Syria and Turkey.
Please dive into the film The One starring Jet Li. The movie is about the multiverse and how killing yourself in a different universe makes you and your remaining selves in other universes stronger. This would be an interesting one to look into.
I always wondered if your others we just dying do you get power ups? Or do you have to do the deed? It's a great movie an it's been a while since I watched it, but when I did I watched it 10+ times an it didn't disappoint any time.

hearing an actor say something along the lines of this movies themes fit with the time we live in today ALWAYS takes off points for me, what does that even mean? lol
Eric and Andrew just wouldn't listen at all. They thinking it's all about them. Mane told them what they had to do but they thinking it's a hate crime or something. Good movie and good video 👍🏿
When I hear a bunch of people with British accents, lol. So many British people seem to nail the American accent. Had no clue a few of the actors were English
I had red through the revelations chapters covering the 4 horseman and 7 seals just a couple days before seeing this movie. But as soon as I saw the one last in the pale shirt with the tool that has a hanging hammer head I knew they where the horsemen.
Just saw this film today and was intrigued the moment it started. When Boogie Shoes was on at the end, man was that a gut punch. 😢 Ps: Being a Philly PA girl, it’s nice seeing films being made in areas that I grew up in.
Why I like the ambiguity of the book I fell the movie's ending is great because it makes the question more solid; "Could you sacrifice your beloved to save the world?" Seems so simple to say yes and the saddest part is the familly is picked because their love is pure. If I had someone I loved and there might be fights but never a thought of leaving them. Being able to picture myself growing old with this person never doubting the relationship? I might say fuck it and lets walk the burnt world together too. I do have more faith in humanity even though it can suck at times but if I had someone like that it'd be a real tough choice. I'd probably offer to be the sacrifice if only because a life without them would seem shitty and seeing the world continue to suck might send me into a spiral of depression knowing what I gave up for it. Granted having a child I loved might help me through it but still, it'd be rough.
When M. Night nails it, he really nails it. I haven't seen this one but I'll be looking for it. He's a great story teller, no question. Thanks for the vid; good work.
In my opinion Both Dave Bautista and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson have both transitioned and successfully made the change as actors unlike some other wrestlers that have tried to do the same.

The only thing I don't hear people talking about is how the family is the holy trinity. You really get that sense when the two fathers start to argue you have a clear angry "god" who is sick of humanity and a willing martyr "Jesus" that still sees hope in humanity. The child is the holy spirit the thing that gives you faith and purpose again so the father lived through you - hence her turning their favorite song back on at the end. Hence her being so pure, innocent and good. She is the holy spirit Also the song was "resurrection" of Jesus. Uniting the trinity again "always together"
Watched this movie randomly, and was very good. I wish the ending was different and explored, but M Knight has been getting f'd by Hollywood for unknown reasons, even though he constantly (bar two) produces great thinking, movies.
I’ve subscribed to the War, Famine, Pestilence and Death horsemen. I’ve not read the source book, so I’m going all off the film. As such, I always saw Sabrina, as a healer/nurse as the opposite of Pestilence. Leonard as a gentle giant, and elementary school teacher, and the final horseman, he’s forced to finish off Sabrina, as well himself. To me, he’s been Death all along. Thank you for another great vid!
I feel the grasshopper had a much more deeper meaning at the beginning of the film because it represents what was need to stop the end of the world. In many cultures the grasshopper is a representation of a need to take a leap of faith, which they did indeed have to take to end the apocalypse.
Did they though? They were able to literally see the world starting to end around them, so it doesn’t really seem like much faith was involved. More like a necessity.
It’s been a while since a video about a virus. The depth of research you go into is extremely fascinating to listen too in my off time. Is it alright that you do the Freaker Virus from “Days Gone”?
Remember in the early 2000s when memes weren’t called memes just yet and “What a twist?!?” Was the joke about M.Knight.Shamamalan movies? This movie was straight forward, IMO, it had no signature twist per usual. That said it is a great movie and definitely worth a watch.
The trailer and the title of the movie seems like a prequel for Cabin in the woods. Both of theme have end of the world prophecies and need a human sacrifice.
I wanted the dark ending ngl. It would have them walking out of the cabin after all the horsemen were sacrificed. Only to walk out into a ruined or burnt forest. The camera would then move up to cover a view of the large scale land mass being having been destroyed. Then there’s a montage of civilized places on earth all having been destroyed with eerie music playing like this video had. The credits continue on for a minute with the montage showing that even the wild places of nature have also been destroyed. It all concludes with a black screen. (I did like the ending as I found it was cathartic) It was a brutal message but still gave a warming feel.
So, It Comes At End + Mother! with a different take? You never see what "it" is but the setting is always tense it seems. Night imo has been chasing the success of Signs with it's layers but they keep falling short. I like personified calamities, that's different to me. Kind of a deeper and morally challenging The Strangers now that I think about more too
First time ever seeing Dave Bautista as a professional wrestler, never in my wildest dreams would have figured he'd be a bigger star than Dwayne Johnson
They did say they’re not going to do this by force also don’t have a choice, and they said they need to sacrifice someone in that family before the impending catastrophe events of the apocalypse happens.
So 4 strangers see visions of the world ending and have to find and sacrifice a very specific person to save the world? This sounds sus to me. Why didn't god just speak to the man that needed to sacrifice himself and save all of the pain and torment everyone went through? Why doe's god need a sacrifice to stop the end of the world? Why does god need one of those 2 men when there's billions of people on the planet? What if the man who sacrificed himself was meant to break the cycle? So the devil sent 4 weak minded people under his control to put a stop to his future threat? Sounds more like the work of the devil using deception, as the devil can't command anyone to do something, they can only deceive.

@@specialnewb9821 this is very true. the Rock only plays "the Rock"
The Rock is gay though. No kids at his age? Yeah "the Rock" is basically a pebble.
Batista made this movie what it was
@@docholiday5119 lmao what? not everyone wants to have kids. its not related to sexuality.
Hollywood protrays yet more lies big media pushes in that 1: white man bad/unreliable/weak. 2: people hate gays 3: religion is evil/bad/spooky/not to be trusted.
I'm so sick of all this Hollywood crap, where's the good movies at?!
"but we couldn't feel the tension like it was happening to us."
Did you watch all of the film after the credits?
@That Canadian Vaper Guy
My comment was not intended to be insulting at all. It was a genuine question. Thanks for insulting me for no reason though. Wow.
I even liked your first comment as well. You really see the worst in people?
Read the book. Very different ending.
@@ThisValiantAdventure wait, is that actually what happened?
Oh wow Bautista did a really good job in this I really hope he continues to get good rolls so we can see more of his ability
Dave batista has more depth as an actor than dwayne johnson
Farcry 5 did something similar, the ending makes you wonder... was the cult right all along?
Then Farcry New Dawn happened which kind of says... yes the cult was right.

Kinda reminds of that 2009 movie The Box based on a short story where they too are faced with a moral dilemma not knowing if it's true or not and the consequences weigh heavy on them.
YES!!!! It’s so creepy!!
Sham traded in his plot twists for starting natural disasters
In the same way. One after another.
Get ready. New research suggests climate change actually makes earthquakes worse.
A 7.8 isn't uncommon, though. If it's biblical, shouldn't it be something incredibly massive?
@@Hawk7886 20k died. What more do you want?
Please dive into the film The One starring Jet Li. The movie is about the multiverse and how killing yourself in a different universe makes you and your remaining selves in other universes stronger. This would be an interesting one to look into.
I always wondered if your others we just dying do you get power ups?
Or do you have to do the deed?
It's a great movie an it's been a while since I watched it, but when I did I watched it 10+ times an it didn't disappoint any time.
@@mrillis9259 even if you don't kill them, you get the power-up, also it's kinda implied that the multiverse it's in fact a finite number, even if each one it's infinite on his own.
It's hard to see Ron Weasley as the horseman of war.
You should watch Vince vaughn in the movie "Step dad" that will really flip your view on his acting skills.
Great video. Keep up the great work.

Thanks for another fantastic video to enjoy!🙂👍
I’ll have to come back to this video once I watch the movie. Looking forward to it :)
Can we please get The Belko Experiment next? That movie is right up the alley of the channel
hearing an actor say something along the lines of this movies themes fit with the time we live in today ALWAYS takes off points for me, what does that even mean?
Guy who played Rick from "the walking dead" REALLY had me fooled.
I got that Four Horseman connection from the teaser. The moment I saw their shirts, I thought, 'this movie's about the end of the world.'
I hadn't even heard of this film until now gotta check it out.
Ps: Being a Philly PA girl, it’s nice seeing films being made in areas that I grew up in.
Gotta pay the algorithm gods!
Great video btw 👌
You released this so fast I didn't even know the movie was out yet
When M. Night nails it, he really nails it. I haven't seen this one but I'll be looking for it. He's a great story teller, no question. Thanks for the vid; good work.
Saw it tonight, it’s a great film
Good movie. Good video 😊
He definitely did weird and unexplainable with the last airbender
In my opinion Both Dave Bautista and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson have both transitioned and successfully made the change as actors unlike some other wrestlers that have tried to do the same.
This was a great movie. Not overly complex but keeps you uneasy and on edge constantly.
Dave is by far the best actor to come out of the WWE. 100000x better than the rock and 100x better than John cena lmao

John Cena is an actor? Weird, I’ve never seen him… 🥁

I think I'm going to have to watch this movie. I always appreciate your videos. I get to learn about movies that I haven't had the time to watch because I work 7 days a week.
I’ve always loved M. Night’s work and I’m so happy this one is great. I don’t understand why people hate on him
Ahhh thank you for explaining the end because I kept asking so what is the conclusion of the movie? What did it all mean?
I’m definitely gonna watch it again with a new perspective
The only thing I don't hear people talking about is how the family is the holy trinity. You really get that sense when the two fathers start to argue you have a clear angry "god" who is sick of humanity and a willing martyr "Jesus" that still sees hope in humanity.
The child is the holy spirit the thing that gives you faith and purpose again so the father lived through you - hence her turning their favorite song back on at the end. Hence her being so pure, innocent and good. She is the holy spirit
Also the song was "resurrection" of Jesus. Uniting the trinity again "always together"
Fucking badass, man! I like that detail.
Watched this movie randomly, and was very good. I wish the ending was different and explored, but M Knight has been getting f'd by Hollywood for unknown reasons, even though he constantly (bar two) produces great thinking, movies.
genre: cosmic horror. the story should continue and humans found a way to interact with whatever is "in control" of what happened and destroy it.
I just watched this and Dave acting is A+! This show was so good it made me cry. Maybe because i have a daughter and feel what Eric felt.

The horns at the start of Boogie Shoes will now and forever remind me of the start of the apocalypse.
Interesting movie. I’ll definitely have to check it out.
I wouldn't but they should. Maybe twenty years ago, but absolutely not now or ever. They're "better" than me so they should for us.
Saw this movie recently and I loved it.
@@kevinac4397 the grasshopper only served as a metaphor
In which cultures is the grasshopper a metaphor of a need to take a leap of faith?
M. Nights one of those directors that instantly turns me off a movie. I might check this one out.

I really loved the movie. Hope as a ending theme will always resonate with me.
Yup, that degree from hogwarts did nothing for Ron 🤣🤣
It’s been a while since a video about a virus. The depth of research you go into is extremely fascinating to listen too in my off time. Is it alright that you do the Freaker Virus from “Days Gone”?

Remember in the early 2000s when memes weren’t called memes just yet and “What a twist?!?” Was the joke about M.Knight.Shamamalan movies?
This movie was straight forward, IMO, it had no signature twist per usual. That said it is a great movie and definitely worth a watch.
Thanks for the fantastic video can you do The Devil in Me and the Blight from ZombiU
The trailer and the title of the movie seems like a prequel for Cabin in the woods. Both of theme have end of the world prophecies and need a human sacrifice.
The end of the book sounds so much better than the one in the movie.
Just watch the movie. I agree dark ending always is better
So, It Comes At End + Mother! with a different take? You never see what "it" is but the setting is always tense it seems. Night imo has been chasing the success of Signs with it's layers but they keep falling short. I like personified calamities, that's different to me. Kind of a deeper and morally challenging The Strangers now that I think about more too
This movie is pretty good thanks for your review on it.
First time ever seeing Dave Bautista as a professional wrestler, never in my wildest dreams would have figured he'd be a bigger star than Dwayne Johnson
Dave Batista continues to impress me. Fantastic actor and (for me) carried/guided this story from start to end.
I was hoping it would prove to be just a bunch of crazies only revealed after one was convinced to kill the other ...as a twist .
They did say they’re not going to do this by force also don’t have a choice, and they said they need to sacrifice someone in that family before the impending catastrophe events of the apocalypse happens.
The four horsemen background at 10:00 is so dope. How can I get it? Great video and huge fan btw
why are you stuttering in your comment
What a twist!
I watched the movie finally last night. I feel it kept the spirit of the book pretty well with how ambiguous everything felt tbh
That author looks a lot like John Paul Tremblay - Julian from Trailer Park Boys. Same last name and a strong family resemblance. They were born in very different areas, so I doubt they are related, but it is a strange coincidence.
