They wanted to do a third movie, but after Raul Julia died Angelica Huston said she couldn't play Morticia Addams without Raul Julia being Gomez. It wouldn't have been the same. There's a video on UA-cam with some of the cast getting together on stage years later, talking about the movies, answering questions ,etc.
I feel like we are spoiled now a days fir child stars and forget at this time that child actors generally were not great. But Christina Ricci is a stand out among many great child actors.
So according to the original comics, the Addams fortune grew to the huge level it is now through Gomez making investment choices that would seem crazy to most investors, and then they pay off big. The Fact Fiend channel once calculated it to be the wealthiest person in all of the comics. Richer than Richie Rich. Richer than Bruce Wayne. Richer than Tony Stark. They're just insanely filthy rich.
THANK YOU SO MUCH! I will be sure to tell Marc this too. So that makes more sense as to why there was such a diverse portfolio of his that Debbie (DEBORAH!) was going through.
Debbie totally dropped the ball on this one. The Addams Family was fully ready to accept her, psychopathic tendencies and all. You could totally envision Debbie and Morticia having tea on a Tuesday, talking about the next way she'd try to kill Fester.
you have to give Raul Julia credit, his health wasn't great during filming, in fact it was getting worse but he pulled through to finish filming, sadly he died the year after this came out
Yes!!! And thank you for commenting this because I felt HORRIBLE that I didn't call him out by name in the post-movie chat. I think he was incredible in this role. Such a talent. RIP
This one is my favorite in The Addams Family movies. Wednesday is awesome when she took over the play. I would love to be a kid to help burn down the play.
You're so right! I had just completely forgotten about her being in this movie. My love for her came mostly from Grosse Point Blank and Working Girl, and then School of Rock, but this was a whole other level. Excellent performance!
But also, back in the very early 20th century and for a long time before, all babies and toddlers of any sex were dressed like that. The Addamses are just very old-fashioned.
My favourite boys reacting to my favourite Addams Family movie! It should come as no surprise that this was written by the amazing Paul Rudnick. His many credits also include Jeffrey, In & Out, and Sister Act. Happy Belated Thanksgiving, and many hugs, from Toronto. XOXO
Thank you!! Haha like I say, I can't spell favourite without "u"! wakka wakka. I didn't know he was the scribe behind those!! That's awesome. I haven't seen Jeffrey in forever, but at least 3 times a year Olympia Dukakis and the way she said, "It's coming right off!" goes through my head lol.
@DavidvsFilm HA!! Am on a crowded streetcar and just burst out laughing. Because I absolutely heard Olympia Dukakis's (R.I.P.!) voice in my head when I read that. 🤣
I am with you! The sequel is rarely better than the original but in this case I like this movie better. Joan Cusack is always great. Another comedy that she played a big role in was “In & Out”. That movie is right up your alley! I am laughing already thinking of your reaction to it! It has a great cast too!
Oh that's right!! Thank you! I forgot that she was in that too. In & Out is one of those movies that I have absolutely no reason to have missed, and yet it's one that neither of us has seen. I don't know if it was timing when it came out, or that I haven't always been a huge Kevin Kline fan, but it's on my list to watch for the channel at some point :)
Glad I grew up watching these kind of movies. The Adam’s Family I grew up and Angelina Houston is FABULOUS, such elegance of death….so dark. Love her in The Witches also.
5:22 they play the French national anthem in the backgroung, they set up a guillotine which was invented during the French Revolution. And the baby is dressed up as ... ANNE BOLEYN 😂😂😂🤦♂ You should just eat cake!
Incidentally, Amanda's mom is Harriet Sanson Harris, a marvelous, wonderful, theatrical presence who struck a chord as a recurring character, Bebe the agent in the tv show "Frasier". Here's a hint of what she could have contributed to this already extremely wonderful movie: ua-cam.com/video/qm3qBSHkoow/v-deo.html.
@@elizabethstrong6057 Oh, my goodness, thanks for that! And here's another pairing: Peter MacNicholl, who plays Gary the camp Shakespeare, was a main supporting player in "Numbers", a tv series which had, as its second lead, David Krumholz, who plays Wednesday's crush, Joel.
Thank you!! Oh, trust that we LOVE her!! In the full unedited version of our reaction, within 3 seconds we were like, "Christine Baranski, Peter MacNichol, FELICIA TILLMAN!!!" lol. I absolutely love her as Bebe, but she will always be the amazing Felicia Tillman from Desperate Housewives to us :) We haven't had the pleasure of seeing her on stage, but I would imagine she's phenomenal.

Their house is different than the first one. At the top of the entrance steps there isn't a door to a ballroom anymore. They replaced the grandmother with Carol Kane. She's better than the first one. Fester's bedroom is different.
Happy Movie Sunday, David and Marc! Hope that you both had a great Thanksgiving. 😊 It's time for some more Addams Family fun! I already know that I'm going to love this reaction. This is one of my all-time favorite movie sequels. Looking forward to the next reaction. 😊

Hahahaha. Yeah that nursery was amazing and definitely apropos for a baby Addams. Yeah, great point about Wednesday. I'm very curious to see where they go with Season 2, both in storyline and possible humor tone changes like you mentioned.
The Addams are old money rich. The money they make recently is from things like IRAs, investments etc. But they technically don't need to work because they are THAT wealthy.
Such a great reaction to a great movie. Have y'all watched In & Out with Joan Cusack, Kevin Kline Tom Selleck and a host of other stars?? It's really good and so funny! Luv ya guys. 🤗

How long have they been married? Much of the Addams Family lore was established by the TV series, and in the second season Gomez and Morticia celebrated their 13th anniversary by telling the kids how they met and got married. Clearly "13" was picked as a superstitious number, so maybe they've always been married for 13 years. The marriage was initially arranged by Grandmama and her friend Hester Frump, who wanted to marry off her springtime fairy-like daughter Ophelia to bachelor Gomez (who wanted to stay a bachelor). Instead, Gomez fell in love with Ophelia's macabre sister, Morticia, who at the time dressed like Wednesday and had her pet lion and headless doll in tow. The elder Frump was played by Margaret Hamilton (of Wicked Witch fame) while Ophelia and Morticia were a dual role for Carolyn Jones. Morticia's sister Ophelia actually appears in both Addams films. In the first, she can be seen briefly in the ballroom celebration dancing with a candle.
I love how the lesson Fester learned was that he was unhappy when he was trying to be someone he wasn't. And that Morticia, even though little Pubert's transformation was something alien to her, still read him some Dr Seuss because it made him happy.
