Ive owned my pair for just over a year now. Using them with a Schiit modi/Magni Heresy. Paired with a ModMic USB. Love them. So glad I got them, have been a great choice for gaming headphones. Not sure why UA-cam showed me your channel, but great review.
Driving these with a jds labs atom/dac stack. These really shine with immersive single player games, as they have a relatively intimate soundstage and are really really detailed like you mentioned. These are an amazing pair for the price, I don’t feel like I need to upgrade they’re that good
As someone who isn't an audiophile, this is a great review. I'm currently using Astro A50s but am constantly being told to get rid of them because a pair of real audiophile headphones will blow me away. So have you definitely seen an improvement in competitive games? I'm currently struggling to hear footsteps on my A50s.
a50s straight up suck for gaming. a40s were leaps better. that being said, sennheiser isn't really a good choice for competitive gaming either. they have bad soundstage depth and height and not great imaging.
@@pokrog I agree. I have the 6xx and they’re my favourite headphones but I never use them for gaming, even just casually. Mostly because of the frequency response rather than the soundstage. I use shp9500s for that, for which I paid less than a third of what I paid for the sennheisers lol
those look like great headphones! being a popular twitch warzone streamer like my self, hearing footsteps is HUGE! Do you know if anyone of the major warzone streamers use these? I feel I hear footsteps decent with my Razor Man-o-War headphones, but sometimes I dont hear them until im being shot. In your opinion would they be what a pro gamer like the Doc or Nick would use?
There are better "audiophile" headphones for gaming compared to the HD6XX/HD58X. The sound of those headphones is mids focused and relaxed which means they don't have that much detail and clarity on the higher end, where most audio cues in games lie. It also has a very narrow soundstage compared to other open-backs. For extreme competitive gaming headphones, I can recommend Beyerdynamic DT990 Pros which are about the same price as these. You can also pick the HIFIMAN HE400i 2020 for neutral and detailed sound.
Hd560s is much better for pinpointing precision of enemies (footsteps, shooting, everything). Also easier to drive, easily delete the sennheiser lock mechanism for the 3.5 (single sided also!) to get an 3.5 to 2.5mm jack adapter in, to use it with vmoda boom pro. I use it this way for pc and ps4 (with creative g3 sound dac) Check fresh reviews for it who's reviewing headphones and inears for gaming and explains everything. It blows my hyper x gaming headset out of the water, and is also really better than my senheiser pc38x for gaming (that already many users described as a good gaming headphone)

Thanks lad. Great critique! Just bought a set of the 6XX. Bloody great price right now at Drop - $169.00. On Amazon, 500 bucks. Crazy.

Would these be bad to use if I could only plug them into a controller
I have no idea how much a controller can push headphones. If I had to guess I'd say they would probably sound OK, not great.
@@JByteTXthanks!
Can you plug a mic into these?
no you can't. you can attach a mic and plug it it separately
Nice video
6xx or the h6pro?
those are the hd6xx, sold exclusively on massdrop
