A friend of mine has his 12C ceramic coated. We drove it home from an auto show in Omaha, NE in January. The roads were slushy and covered with that gross, grey/black snow that anyone in the Midwest will recognize. Got it home, basically the bottom half of the car from bumper-to-bumper was filthy. We watched as the snow began to run off the car while it sat in the driveway. After about 30 minutes, the car looked almost 100% clean again. That experience made me a believer.
I got my wife’s new truck ceramic coated with Beeds from my friends detail shop. Best thing I ever did to that truck. It cleans up like new every wash. I love it when the water and dirt just roll off.
Ed's the type of friend you need when you trying to get a job and the employer wants to ( Check references ) " Hello there, Ed speaking, CEO and Founder of Fortune 500 Precision Rocket Science Global Specialties Inc. Elroy was an Outstanding Chief Engineer over Product Research & Development "
It is true that prep work makes a huge difference, a lot of dealers completely skip the "cleaner" and "polishing" stages, they power wash them, wax them and touch it up a bit, that's not detailing, it could barely be called "washing a car".
i really like the conversational, less structured, sort of ad-hoc tone these videos have taken lately. I feel more engaged as your audience, instead of the distant observer. Not sure if it's been on purpose, it's been a subtle change, but either way, I think it's good.
I’ve seen this on various other channels and much like you just passed over it. I will be getting this for my truck. Absolutely the best review I’ve seen.
beat me to it... Speaking of beating, my late second grade teacher used to take disrespectful students into the hallway to "beat them with a wet noodle". The people who experienced it never spoke a word about what it was but years later we saw her in the hallway giving a student a pat on the head with an inflated brown paper lunch bag, haha.
Great and honest review of the product. I have done it on my classic car and noticed the same thing, I don’t even need to use any products washing the car. The water does the job and the car comes out super clean.
I'm an avid detailer who tries to think of any possible way to minimize detailing maintenance. If I put 5 hours of work into my car one weekend, I don't want to spend 3 hours the following weekend pulling brake dust off, etc. I've thought of ceramic coatings as an equivalent to wax until now. I used to believe that paint protection film was the only way to protect paint against abrasives, but I think I'll give Avalon Ceramic Coatings a try. Love your videos, Ed, thanks for the awesome content
The coatings aren't snake oil, but the product he mentions is actually manufactured by Lixin Industrial (Shenzhen) in China, and you can find the equivalent product for a third of the price on sites like Amazon. Bought in bulk through Alibaba, these actually cost $6-$8 to retailers. I used AvalonKing and found it's a good coating, but only lasts two years (with proper prep and pH-balanced washes). Where it really surprised me is in how it improved plastic trim to look like new and, after more than two years, the trim still looks quite good, although it could probably use a touch-up before winter. However...it's a good $20-$25 coating, not a $70 coating. If that were the case, I'd get the Gtechniq or other brands out there for $70 that would probably outlast the Lixin product (which is also sold under names such as Nano Bond, Autokcan, etc.). Still, 18+ months on a coating, vs. maybe 3-4 weeks for typical carnauba waxes, is a win in my book. Here's the source: ua-cam.com/video/IhzMeysvesU/v-deo.html . (Also watch his other videos--he does long-term tests of dozens of ceramic coatings. Very informative!)
So what you're saying is.....you don't have to pay a detailer $2k to apply 12.7 coats of ceramicpro....you can just do it yourself (after a good detail) with little-to-no experience? Heresy.
I used to detail cars at a private place ,people pay ridculous money for nothing. Prep is easy, just use clay for sticky stuff, some paint thinner for other shit, bam prep done...im sure there are totorials on youtube, havent looked.
So... knowing first off this was going to be an ad for your new sponsor, I opened it... and sure enough, it was... an eight and a half minute long ad for your new sponsor... and I still watched it.
I was happy to see this post. After being a professional detailer and owning my own place for a few years, I have come to swear by coatings. I've never used the one used in this video but plenty of others. They work. It's all about the prep work though. Do it right and you'll have a great shine for years that beads water like a ducks back. Glad you like it. Too anyone thinking of getting a coating... do it! Saves so much time when washing. The only downside is the thousands of dollars in wax sitting in my garage... they won't stick to the coating.
Used this kit on my old cop car, it looks about as nice as a maaco paint job on a massive vehicle can get, dust is the only thing to settle on it and everything else just runs off. 10/10 would recommend the Avalonking kit
That’s one weird looking dog. Not gonna lie that’s one cool snake, very relaxed and all. I wonder if that’s Ed’s personal snake. That’s a Boa, right? I forget the different species of snakes.
Purchased a very nice new snap on tool box the other day. Spent sunday waxing it to help keep grease off of it. Now gonna spend next sunday ceramic coating it. Thanks ed
It works...i used it on all my cars and the stuff is really awesome. ALTHOUGH, there are some OVERSTATED things made by ignorant companies or people even. It's NOT scratch resistant (mild...and i do mean very mild perhaps) AND IT DOES NOT prevent DIRT on your car It's NOT permanent (although it's very tough and lasts a LONG LONG time) I did my Camaro first (BLACK) very difficult to do it right on that color takes time and effort but was worth it! After that i did my white 1988 s10 truck, again great, then my 2018 impala LT (ALSO BLACK i know! Never again) I spend days doing it, but it's worth it total cost costed me about 20usd on coating, applicators, microfiber towels. I will never go back to waxes and other shit anymore, deep "wet" black shine and when dirty it's so easy to clean! Dirt hardly sticks to it.
ED is an inspiration. very buisness savy very confident and he seems very calm like everything is what it is and however it goes it goes he seems to just understand the world haha
Andrew Zboray I’m not sold on this guy. This is his channel promoting himself and products that are paying him. Its a marketing method for his dealership and whoever is willing to pay to have products featured
Makr D'Angelo i totally respect that opinion and i can see why you would think and why it could be true who am i to say who this guy is ive never met him or talked to him, all i have to say is he doesnt have a dealership, he doesnt work for a dealership anymore and ive been waiting for his video about this stuff and was pleasently surprised that he actually waited until he tried it for real and who and am i to tell him how to make his money he deserves it he entertains and educates hundreds of thousands of people
So keeping in mind that this is the results after only a few days, ceramic coating is 60$, about 2-3 times the price of a good wax. Id Certainly love a product to work 3-5 years, but wax claims up to 1 year and usually lasts 2 months. SO PLEASE KEEP US UPDATED ED.
Ceramic coat dont cost that much. You can even get cheap chinese product for $10. It's the prep work that cost hundreds of dollars(paint correction/touch ups etc).
@@vanquish421 nu finish is nothing but a sealant and imo its not really that good. There are way better stuff like powerlock, collinite 845 and fusso coat.
Man, I have always LOVED taking care of my cars. A wash & wax, using horse hair bristled brushes to clean the vents {even though they are always clean already}, cleaning the windows, scrubbing the wheels, once in awhile cutting the wax, then re-waxing, you name it, and I like it! Other than buffing..... I leave that to the pros. To each his own, we all worship in our own unique ways :)
I got pretty pissed off at you for trying to make that car dirty, but then i saw the pic at 5:48. That. Looks. Awesome. (Just looks awesome. Nothing more.)
I bought this product probably a month, month and a half ago, and I can also say that this product is well worth the money. It took me a whole day to prep my car. Wash, clay bar, wipe down, wipe down again, and ANOTHER wipe down on every panel before I coated it. Total time I think was 12-18 hours. It was long but I can assure you it's worth it. When the car is clean it feels soft, it's a little weird. Not only do they make a great product, but their customer service, and shipping times are phenomenal. As a car enthusiast, I can say without a doubt, I recommend it.
Had my Abarth ceramic coated with Getechniq (with another hyrodophobic coating over the top of that), it's fantastic but not magic. Still needs washing and drying correctly but really locks in the polished shine and repels dirt very well. Will be getting my Porsche done as well.
No but I work in advertising and have worked with multiple agencies that do these types of deals with youtubers. I approve every single video before it goes out. If they aren't approving it they're taking way too much risk. I would def approve this, you want things to feel pretty organic so this is ideal type of endorsement as it is in brand with his channel.
We had our Subaru done with a ceramic coating when we bought it 5 years ago as it was offered as part of the package from the dealer and the paint looks as good today 5 years on as it did the day it came out of the factory. It also makes it extremely easy to clean, just a pressure wash when it get's really dirty and the paint is back to perfect again.
taking time detailing and doing it right does make a difference. This is why my friends that have purchased new cars have driven them right to my house to have me detail them, Jaguar's, Audi's, Aston's, and more and there is a difference.
I had my truck (which is black) professionally ceramic coated shortly after I bought it 2 years ago. When clean it looks amazing. It does get dirty over time and as in the video, rinsing it does get a lot of the dirt and grime off. The biggest issue with it is the water quality where I live. It is rather hard and the minerals etched the coating so after the first year, the sides of the truck bed had to be completely redone from etched water spots. Got a water deionizer and have been good since
A buddy of mine got his 2015 Mustang GT ceramic coated right after he bought it. I stopped by his house a few days later and he was about to wash it. He had some bird poop on the hood. When he simply passed the hose water over the hood, not even with any real pressure, the bird poop slid off! It had nothing to stick to since the ceramic coating was like glass. I've since ceramic coated my car as well. It's like magic!
I HATE getting vehicles with off-brand tires on trade, and here's Ed with a Porsche and Sumitomo's on it... That said, Ceramic Coating is 100% worth it!
Hoovie should have put some of this stuff on his Ferrari. If it's as good as they claim that thar fire never woulda burnt it down. But in all seriousness, Tempted to get my parents car a professional detail then have them put this stuff on as a gift, they're always complaining that their car gets dirty too easily (It's a black Dodge Journey) Might seem silly to put this sort of product on a 'cheaper' car but hey if it works it's worth it, especially for people who plan on having their car for a long while. Will def look into this stuff.
I just bought my first black car early this a year, a Lexus LS430 UL, and I have discovered how hard it is to keep a black car looking clean. I'm totally going to put this on my car when I have it detailed.
I was wondering for the longest time why my Range Rover wasn't getting as dirty as my other cars especially here in NY with all the snow and salt in the winter. Only when I dug up the sales paperwork did I realize when I got the car I had one of these "ceramics coating" jobs done. Go figure. I think after five years now, it still starting to become like the other cars perhaps I'll get it done again.
Haha yea there was some charge on the bill for a preowned we got at a dealer for some kinda "paint sealer". It's her daily ,I don't think I've washed it more than 4-5 times a year. I've had the car almost 3 now and yes it needs a wash but it still has a shine. Haha now I know what that stuff was , well worth it and now I'm thinking I need it for my old rides.
I love polymer and ceramic coatings. The color pops out more, the shine and reflection from paint makes it look like new. You get to wash your car at least 2-3 times less. When it rains most of the dirt comes off. Washing it is a lot easier and you get a lot less marring (small scratches) on paint because you don't have to rub sticky dirt anymore. 3-5 years longevity of coating is a bit optimistic, i'd say more like 1-1.5 years, but it's totally worth it. You don't absolutely have to polish the paint before the coating application. Wash the car, put some latex gloves on hands then scrub it well and gently with Nanoskin AS-018 (clay substitute) while spraying Optimum NR2010Q (1 cap for 0.5L water) as a lubricant. Wash it again, dry it with Meguiar's X2000. Apply Sonax 223300 (good for 2 cars) with Sonax 417300 (cut it in half and use just one part) and wipe it with some ebay 10x microfiber towels . All for ~$90 and about 5 hours of work. I agree about the shiny tires looking bad, better use Poorboy's World Bold 'N Bright Tire Dressing Gel, it's a polymer coating for tires that make them look dark and natural, it lasts 1-2 months.
The first 3 minutes sounds just like me . I love my black car ..... but , I live off of a dirt road. So only time I see my poor car black is in the driveway ! Looks like we may be getting ourselves an early Christmas present ! Thanks Ed !! Oh and don't for a second think my white truck does any better ! Maybe I should just get dirt color .. or move .....🤔 hmm.
nothing beats a clean black car... I lost patience many times myself before, wax used to help but sometimes you just can't keep waxing it, like in the winter... early Christmas it is I guess for me as well :D
I bought some of this stuff a little while ago thinking it was a gimmick, hearing more positive reviews of it makes me feel better about it. So far I've only used it on polycarbonate lenses (headlights, taillights, etc) and it does work. I think I'll finally try it on some paint after this video now that some cooler weather is here. My biggest worry is removal, if I get a dent and have to repair how much of a pain is it going to be to refinish. Given that's what I do for a living just makes me worry about it. Properly applied and allowed to cure, this stuff is hard as a rock.

Got it home, basically the bottom half of the car from bumper-to-bumper was filthy. We watched as the snow began to run off the car while it sat in the driveway. After about 30 minutes, the car looked almost 100% clean again.
That experience made me a believer.
Soooo Ed, are you even aware of the fact that there is a giant yellow snake wrapped around you? haha!
What?
Eds worked with so many shred negotiators, he's used to snakes
Nathan Fung Best comment I’ve seen in a long time!
TennesseeMatt bro i was driving behind you on kingston pike the other day lol
TennesseeMatt
Albino snake-Reticulated Python, good pets.
This is exactly the video I was looking for on ceramic coatings. Finally. Thank you.
Nice... I gotta say, this is one of the first videos I actually trust for an honest review... Good job.
Ceramic Coating is AWESOME and I will never own another vehicle without having the coating on it! I find that Gtechniq is the best
I’ve seen this on various other channels and much like you just passed over it.
I will be getting this for my truck. Absolutely the best review I’ve seen.
10/10 use of the Snake.
Also I love his name.
That's a nice noodle you got there
beat me to it...
That’s what she said?
Snek
Great and honest review of the product. I have done it on my classic car and noticed the same thing, I don’t even need to use any products washing the car. The water does the job and the car comes out super clean.
My man has a snake slithering around his body, flicking its tongue. And he's casually telling a story. This guy has 100 Lb balls of steel
It's a relatively harmless snake. Very docile and casual.
It's a snake and it's scary. Enough said. =)
Ha! She is a very friendly snake.
@@EdBolian snakes are awesome I have a ball python.
snakes like that are generally harmless as pets, as long as you keep them fed properly. Unless you have a snake phobia, this is no big deal.
"Sunny the Lamboa" - I'm ded. XD
That snake is absolutely gorgeous and has such a wonderfully calm disposition.
Heresy.
Prep work is where the $$$ comes from.Anyone can throw a coating on,but if your paint isnt flat and defect free, you ve just wasted your time
@@Hillzy_Eighty7 not really. It'll still have all the ceramic coated properties, but just look like crap.
@@tvang464 Which is exactly what im saying
Its the same as painting a car,it ll look shit if you dont do all the prep work first
Right, but properly paint-correcting and polishing a car in order to apply the ceramic coating doesn't usually and shouldn't cost $1k.
I used to detail cars at a private place ,people pay ridculous money for nothing. Prep is easy, just use clay for sticky stuff, some paint thinner for other shit, bam prep done...im sure there are totorials on youtube, havent looked.
I had my 2019 Scat Pack wide body (black) Challenger coated back in December and it looks amazing! Just rinse dry and go.
How's that holding up now?
Talks about snake oil while holding a snake, brilliant! 😂
In the thumb nail i thought it was a shamwow
Thats the joke
I have never enjoyed car stories the way I do with what gets put up on here, it's funny, interesting and some very good pointers too
Armor shield knew how to get an A+ salesman on their side.
So... knowing first off this was going to be an ad for your new sponsor, I opened it... and sure enough, it was... an eight and a half minute long ad for your new sponsor... and I still watched it.
Thanks Ed. A skeptical opinion and honest review is always appreciated.
Muahahaha! The best video I have seen in a very long time. The snake on your back is nothing short of perfect!!!!!!!!
Used this kit on my old cop car, it looks about as nice as a maaco paint job on a massive vehicle can get, dust is the only thing to settle on it and everything else just runs off.
10/10 would recommend the Avalonking kit
Look at Ed, casually flaunting his enormous snake!
You bastard! I just watched that ENTIRE commercial, I mean video, no wonder you went into sales, you kept my attention the whole time. Good job sir.
That’s one weird looking dog.
Not gonna lie that’s one cool snake, very relaxed and all. I wonder if that’s Ed’s personal snake. That’s a Boa, right? I forget the different species of snakes.
Yes. She is a sunglow albino red tailed boa constrictor. She is 6 and a little over 8 feet long. Very friendly.
VINwiki she looks very friendly and adorable! XD that constant tongue flicking.
This is a product placement ad done right unlike most other UA-camrs out there with their exotic car channels. Great job Ed.
As someone who keeps their car outside its nearly impossible to keep my shit clean
im sold. ed seems like a results driven guy, and this review seems like hes blown away
I thought it was fake until a tongue came out!
Ed is anything but fake! ;)
I know, right? And then I saw the snake ...
That's what she said
Purchased a very nice new snap on tool box the other day. Spent sunday waxing it to help keep grease off of it. Now gonna spend next sunday ceramic coating it. Thanks ed
Get yourself a cheap electric leaf blower. Pressure wash, blow dry. Super easy with any type of coating on the car.
Best video so far, definitely purchasing myself... you can't beat Ed vouching for something
hah, thought the snake was fake, almost jumped when I saw the tongue slither... that Porsche looks amazing coated holy hell!!!
It works...i used it on all my cars and the stuff is really awesome. ALTHOUGH, there are some OVERSTATED things made by ignorant companies or people even.
It's NOT scratch resistant (mild...and i do mean very mild perhaps)
AND IT DOES NOT prevent DIRT on your car
It's NOT permanent (although it's very tough and lasts a LONG LONG time)
I did my Camaro first (BLACK) very difficult to do it right on that color takes time and effort but was worth it!
After that i did my white 1988 s10 truck, again great, then my 2018 impala LT (ALSO BLACK i know! Never again)
I spend days doing it, but it's worth it total cost costed me about 20usd on coating, applicators, microfiber towels.
Makr D'Angelo i totally respect that opinion and i can see why you would think and why it could be true who am i to say who this guy is ive never met him or talked to him, all i have to say is he doesnt have a dealership, he doesnt work for a dealership anymore and ive been waiting for his video about this stuff and was pleasently surprised that he actually waited until he tried it for real and who and am i to tell him how to make his money he deserves it he entertains and educates hundreds of thousands of people
he has a vibe of a used car salesman.
I thought he owned Switchcars
Just ordered for my 19 fiesta 5 speed black car. Discount was nice through your link well I will give it a real Diy try out
Results of a real DIY tryout?
So keeping in mind that this is the results after only a few days, ceramic coating is 60$, about 2-3 times the price of a good wax. Id Certainly love a product to work 3-5 years, but wax claims up to 1 year and usually lasts 2 months.
SO PLEASE KEEP US UPDATED ED.
Ceramic coat dont cost that much. You can even get cheap chinese product for $10. It's the prep work that cost hundreds of dollars(paint correction/touch ups etc).
Nu Finish. Cheap and better than wax, but not as good as ceramic. It's a good compromise.
That vinwiki sticker on the hood, right on the paint. Makes me cringe and smile because of how subtle and awesome it is, at the same time.
Had my Abarth ceramic coated with Getechniq (with another hyrodophobic coating over the top of that), it's fantastic but not magic. Still needs washing and drying correctly but really locks in the polished shine and repels dirt very well. Will be getting my Porsche done as well.
Ed probably made a deal with the snake like a shrewd negotiator.
I agree with your tire shine statement it's pure fact
Same. I feel that same about dash shine products as well (makes the dash sticky/greasy and I am not a fan of the wet look).
I wonder if this was the type of video Avalon King had in mind...
I doubt a snake was what they had in mind, but in true Ed fashion he pulls it off...
I can guarantee they approved the video before it went out, that's how these deals work
Are you Ed's manager or something since you can guarantee it? =D
That makes sense, Devon. Thank you for clarifying. I agree too it's a great video. =)
i feel like wax works just as good. Also i'm skiddish bout using a pressure washer on my cars; seen it take clear coat right off if your too close
Ed and rabbit my two favourite guys to listen too
We had our Subaru done with a ceramic coating when we bought it 5 years ago as it was offered as part of the package from the dealer and the paint looks as good today 5 years on as it did the day it came out of the factory. It also makes it extremely easy to clean, just a pressure wash when it get's really dirty and the paint is back to perfect again.
Is Engineering Explained your brother?
Right lmaoooo
taking time detailing and doing it right does make a difference. This is why my friends that have purchased new cars have driven them right to my house to have me detail them, Jaguar's, Audi's, Aston's, and more and there is a difference.
Last time I was this early..."Your Volvo is junk" -New Jersey, 2018
honestly thought it was about headers. still watched it. great speaking habilities paired with experience and knowledge. kudos
Well that was an unexpected surprise
I had my truck (which is black) professionally ceramic coated shortly after I bought it 2 years ago. When clean it looks amazing. It does get dirty over time and as in the video, rinsing it does get a lot of the dirt and grime off. The biggest issue with it is the water quality where I live. It is rather hard and the minerals etched the coating so after the first year, the sides of the truck bed had to be completely redone from etched water spots. Got a water deionizer and have been good since
saw this on legitstreetcars ages back and its amazing
I restored my headlights watching that video, good one
Yea that guy is awesome
@LegitStreetCars lol... you are pretty good indeed, keep up the good work
A buddy of mine got his 2015 Mustang GT ceramic coated right after he bought it.
At first I was like, that’s a pretty realistic prop. And then, and then, and then, and then...😳🤯
I HATE getting vehicles with off-brand tires on trade, and here's Ed with a Porsche and Sumitomo's on it...
I love how the snake is just chilling there the entire time
Freaking Ed Bolian, he flogs cleaning products for 10 minutes and I still watch him. That's a special power mate.
That's why he's Eddie B.
I love my black car ..... but ,
I live off of a dirt road.
