The year is 2009, Sunday morning. You wake up at 8, and go upstairs to the home computer while everyone else is still asleep. The summer sun shines in the room through the blinds. You boot up Roller Coaster Tycoon 3, it takes a while to load. You create a new park, and zoom out to listen to this. Life is simple, life is good.
I will NEVER forget seeing that Main Menu for the first time, seeing the pictures of the park, hearing the button clicking sounds and hearing this music all at once. It will never leave my memory.
This song goes out to my Grandpa William, who watched me spend countless hours playing this game on his old computer (whenever he wasn't busy on it), whenever we visited him. He even laughed at how I was pretending to ride long roller coasters or build other unique rides, throughout the sandbox. I must've played this at least a few times, when he was around. Listening to this piece was one of my nostalgic memories with RCT3, and him, as well. Those were the days. Grandpa William, I love you, and I still miss you.
It really is! I've always liked it since childhood, but just now I am hearing every little sound and really appreciating how well-put together it all is.
@Pablo Hernandez out of nowhere I remembered that there was one special song in this game, with this particular guitar... And here I am 10 years after I played the game for the last time. Chills.
It's an honor knowing that this mesmerizing melody used to be a part of my weekend mornings. A nice sunny day, mom yelling that breakfast is ready, meeting up with friends a few hours later to play football... and with just enough time to kill till then. I click the RCT3 icon, wait for a few minutes for my park to load, and the first thing I do is zoom out and start daydreaming to this unforgettable summer beat. Made my troublesome teen years a tad easier to bear.
It's 2005 or 2006. My windowsill is to my left. The warm 5 PM glow permeates through the open blinds, lighting up the front room. I live right across from a school, and see parents picking up their children from aftercare. Their school days have just ended. But I've been home awhile. I run home at 2:30, itchy-eyed from all the spring allergies. I throw off my itchy, stifling sweater uniform, and do all of my homework in record time, under the cool May A/C. I'm eating cheap cup noodles, enjoying the pockets of powdery, salty ramen broth that the water didn't fully soak. I'm devouring them as I boot up Rollercoaster Tycoon 3, which loads slowly on the family PC. The sun's glare makes it hard to see through the tiny, dusty monitor. But that doesn't matter. I enter my sandbox world, fresh ideas in my head. I design a special rollercoaster, colored black and red, to put in the 'evil' part of my park. I'm adding nature on the main road, and hiring janitors to clean up the vomit from my crazy "Empire Expresso" ride, made to scare the hell out of parkgoers. I adjust all of my prices to keep my park economical, even though I never actually played with limited money. I am the king of creation, and this park is under my dominion. But that was 18 years ago. I'm sitting in the same house, in the opposite side of the house, at midnight. I'm overwhelming my senses with random UA-cam videos in an effort to distract myself from debt, from job searches, from maintaining unhealthy relationships, from the cruel cold dullness of life, from the misty veils of too many traumas. I'm playing games to tire myself out. I've not eaten since noon. I bought some cup noodles during a recent road trip, but never got around to eating them. I pour in the boiling water, wait, and then sit down to eat them. These are the cheapest noodles I've had in years. The hot broth scalds my tongue. The noodles are barely cooked. The vegetables haven't softened. And yet, it brought me right back here. The theme is still in my head, resonant and steady and true. I don't remember every part of it, but the guitar strums welcome me with all the warmth of a childhood friend. I'm too numb to cry right now. But some part of me is happy to have listened to this just once more, with cup noodles in my hands. I consider myself lucky to live in a time where I'm able to rediscover some link to my childhood, to that one spring day I spent trying to set up firework displays. I remember zooming out of the map during ingame sunrise to hear this song play. The world felt so grand then.
This reminds of Summer 2006. The school year just ended and my mom figured I was finally old enough to be left home alone. We just got a new computer. It had windows XP. My mom was dating this guy, and as a gift for doing good on my report card, he bought me this game. I remember booting up the game every morning, and playing it non-stop until 2-3am. I would open the window beside me and let the warm breeze hit my face as my mom made grilled cheese sandwiches and lemonade. I remember my mom even making a park onetime. When she figured out you didn’t need to complete a coaster to open it.. well, she was thrilled and made “xtreme parks” as she called them. Sadly, those times are gone, as with my mother, too. These are the days that I will cherish for the rest of my life.
Words cannot express the feelings and emotions I experience when I hear this song again. Summer of 2010, no responsibilities, no stress, and no worries just coaster and park building until 1am. Good times.
As soon as this starts I immediately picture that fresh menu screen with the girl holding the balloon. Even now I can almost feel that excitement I had, knowing I was about to have at least an hour of pure innocent fun. Where did those days go? 😥
@@lampree Hmm that's possible... who knows what UA-cam will be like in the future. I can see myself missing these days if my life doesn't get any better.
This is SO Nostalgic, especially at 1:36. Zooming in and hearing the music get quiet and hearing the peeps talking was cool. Whenever I go to an amusement park or a fair this song would be playing in my head.
@@5MadMovieMakers I am fairly sure there's no ceiling. There's a cheat code that lets you extend the build height limit to infinite (rename a guest to the name of a developer, don't remember which). had this game at around 6 and when i listen to this shit i just want to kill myself my sister says she remembers of her final exam (the 12th grade one at the end of school) when she listens to this
So this is what memories sound like. I remember listening to this while looking at an endless plain of green after doing the last of my grade school homework.
2008. School is over, summer vacation calls. Outside the sun is shining while sitting inside, playing RCT3 with an cold cola and the feeling of unlimited time for spending in building ur dream.
This game made my childhood up. It just brings me back to those days, back when nobody heard of TikTok, or Instagram. Back when Club Penguin was the best game. I remember it being the beginning of summer break, go downstairs, and hop on the computer, and load this up. You hear the birds chirping outside, and your mom's in the kitchen making breakfast. Your dad's watching ESPN on the TV, and life was good! All the parents would go to the pool together, and have a pool party! And then you and a friend come back to your house, and play RCT3, making your dream park, all night long. I would kill to go back to those days, but they are far from gone now. I'm so lucky I got to have those days.
I can very easily hear this song as a representation of summer vacation as a kid. 0:00 School's out and summer has begun. Your whole vacation is ahead of you. You might start it off relaxed. 0:48: A week or 2 has passed and you're in the swing of enjoying the time off. 1:35 The big trip of the summer! (perhaps an amusement park) 2:24 The trip is over and it fades into memory. But there's still plenty of summer left to enjoy. 3:37 Only a week left. The entire summer is just a memory now.
You miss what? Being a child and having no responsibilities, no positive impact on others or the world, and no control over your own destiny? You know you can still behave that way, it’s just not a good life. You should be nostalgic about good times and memories, yes, but there’s nothing virtuous about living in a child’s world.
This brings me back to my grandparents computer room from 2006-2009. All the nights I’d stay over their house and stay up way past my bedtime building crazy parks in sandbox mode and eating licorice. I’m nearly 25 now and I miss those days (and my grandparents) so much lol. Music really is the closest thing we will ever get to a Time Machine.
Reminds me of the good ol days….Coming back home from a day outside with friends, finally sit down to play, mom and dad ordered pizza, house smells like clean laundry, so ready to spend hours building…ugh 😢 love this song so much.
First time I played this game, I was probably around 6 or 7 years old, and this song really reminds me of my brothers. They were the ones who introduced it to me. The song has a summer vibe to it, which adds to the nostalgia. The guitar drop hits me hard, bringing back memories that rush before my eyes. It's difficult to listen to this song because it reminds me that my life hasn't been the same since then. I miss the good old days so much, and it's overwhelming. It's been 9 years since I last listened to this song. I don't want to taint it with newer memories. Whenever I recall this song, I want it to be associated with the good old days, not the stress I'm feeling right now.
Definitely Remember This. Summer of 2005, Sunny outside, I was 11 years old.I was the first one up. Went to my computer to play this. Even made a family with little twin daughters. I did this my WHOLE summer💙🥰
When first getting this game at 7 years old, I had no idea that it would turn me into the rollercoaster enthusiast i am today. I would have spent hours of everyday designing huge mega parks- now at 19. I still play it to this day on my laptop
Ah the memories… playing this in the spring time and then leading into summer. The smell of blossom in the air and the relaxed feeling I had playing this, nothing will compare. I miss those days.
2 years ago I started from the beginning and completed the entire game including the expansions. I broke my hand at work, so I needed a game I could play with 1 hand :)
Thank you to my step grandma for getting me this at the book fair when I was 6, I'm 23 now and I still love this game. It changed my life forever, I love theme parks so much. I still play this game on my switch since I can't on PC. I'm gonna beat all of the levels again
Over 16 years later, and now the entire game is finally released for the Nintendo Switch. I was 5 years old when this game first came out back in 2004, and it was one of the few games I’d play for countless hours on end on the computer well throughout the 2000’s before those machines got more expensive and inaccessible. (The only other games I can remember playing on it being Toontown Online and U.B. Funkeys) Ever since PC’s have started to become less of the norm though in favor of mobile devices, I’ve never really been able to play any of those games ever again. Sure there’s the iOS port of RCT3, but that’s just the base game with no expansions attached to it, or ability to share custom creations like with RCT Classic, at least as far as I can tell... Now though it’s being released on a console for the first time ever, and even better, a portable one. With newly optimized controls and everything, while still remaining more faithful to the original than even the iOS version did. Words cannot describe how happy I am to see the Rollercoaster Tycoon game that I grew up with the most back in its most proper form, and better than ever before. :) Sure you probably can’t share creations and make custom/modded content for it like with RCT Classic, (even the mobile version of it can do that) but it’s still more than worth it I’d say. The fact that I get to experience it in full glory on a portable system and TV is enough for me. Now all we need is Planet Coaster on the Switch, and we’re all set, which I imagine isn’t too far off from now since it’s on the PS4, Xbox One, PS5 and Xbox Series X.
Someone who can relate! This game meant the world to me. It was my escape from the harsh reality of life growing up. I teared up when I started it up on my Nintendo Switch after all these years.
In 2008, this was my favorite pc game next to Sims 2... I remember hanging out at my high school bf's house back then.. Just resting on the long cushioned window seat as he played this game in his dated wood paneled room. This song would come on & I would just get lost in my imagination relaxing.. The windows open behind me, welcoming in a soft spring breeze.. It always lulled me into a deep trance of relaxation when it came on...Such a peaceful song .. & that guitar .. mmmm yes...♡❤
Just found my old rc3 cd and had to download this game again! I was 7 years old when i played this game first time and now i'm 21. This brings back memories!
I love zooming out slowly and hearing this song faintly in the background with everything else going on. It was such a nice aesthetic...god I miss being a kid :/
I always used to play this and my siblings did as well, such a good game, also the people look funny! I still have the game and I played it recently. It will never get old!
+Judeale8 me too, I think it's one of the few games that me and my siblings all played (with the Sims 3 as well). And I still have it too, although I'm not sure it would still be able to run on my PC. It's worth a try.
OMG too much memory, I remember that I started playing RCT3 at 8 years old in 2004! This music reminds me of the thousands of parks I made until the planet coaster release.

my sister says she remembers of her final exam (the 12th grade one at the end of school) when she listens to this
The Platinum Edition disk has been in my disk drive for years now.
Aren't we all in love?
Same here man. 2004 was such a cherished year!
Summer air... what a beautiful title. It just sounds like it.
I was at a theme park the other day and this song played on the park speakers, i legit jumped up in excitement haha
Fake and and No one cares, delete your account

@@saulgoodman9278 Walibi Holland, they had some sort of videogame event which might be why
@@justGoron Oh cool
This hit me like a truck.. been years waiting to hear this again and took me way back
and it just went on sale for switch.. might have to do it!
That atari logo boot up is stuck in my head. Seeing that logo always meant I'm going to have a chill weekend playing RCT 3
What this takes me back. Just now realizing as a musician this music is actually fire!
(perhaps an amusement park)
2:24 The trip is over and it fades into memory. But there's still plenty of summer left to enjoy.
3:37 Only a week left. The entire summer is just a memory now.
Damn, nicely put!
This actually makes me feel kinda sad, but also good job!
At 2:00 onwards it feels like floating magical ascension to the warm embrace of nostalgia and carefree summers... I miss it man
You miss what? Being a child and having no responsibilities, no positive impact on others or the world, and no control over your own destiny? You know you can still behave that way, it’s just not a good life. You should be nostalgic about good times and memories, yes, but there’s nothing virtuous about living in a child’s world.
Memories of being 9 years old haha, now 15 and still love this game to date :D, soundtrack brings so much times back
Nostalgia is practically shooting through my skull right now!
Murdering people to this calm music was the best omg! SO many memories
Stormy Surge Oh man! If this game was a hybrid between Roller Coaster Tycoon 1 and 3, then it might as well carry the name "Death Trap Tycoon 2015."
I'm 18 and still love it.
Friend of mine is 21 and also loves it.
I'm glad I won't be alone, i'll probably end up still playing this when im about your age lol
Still my favorite PC game of all time! RCT3 ftw!
Memories charging $20 to use the restroom and making everyone vomit.
Reminds me of the good ol days….Coming back home from a day outside with friends, finally sit down to play, mom and dad ordered pizza, house smells like clean laundry, so ready to spend hours building…ugh 😢 love this song so much.
And this is how childhood sounds like
Couldnt have said it better myself past me
First time I played this game, I was probably around 6 or 7 years old, and this song really reminds me of my brothers.
This is what Summer Break sounds like
I used to play the original game back in the early 2000s.
i have all of them
“The great guitar solo in the skyyyyyy”
THE NOSTALGIA IS INTENSE.
I loved Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 :)
Remember playing this classic while still in the womb (I'm 10,586 now). The nostalgia is too strong! Almost brought me to tears
this game will always mean so much to me :)
Wow. The nostalgia hit me like a train.... been so long, RCT3. This song and game was a source of peace throughout my childhood years.
Definitely Remember This. Summer of 2005, Sunny outside, I was 11 years old.I was the first one up. Went to my computer to play this. Even made a family with little twin daughters. I did this my WHOLE summer💙🥰
I've never felt this much nostalgia for a song before, damn this was such a fun game.
This has to be the most memorable track in the game
When first getting this game at 7 years old, I had no idea that it would turn me into the rollercoaster enthusiast i am today. I would have spent hours of everyday designing huge mega parks- now at 19. I still play it to this day on my laptop
this music is just as good as i remember it being.
Even without nostalgia this would still be a banger
Ah the memories… playing this in the spring time and then leading into summer. The smell of blossom in the air and the relaxed feeling I had playing this, nothing will compare. I miss those days.
This comment thread really does prove that we didn’t realize that we were making memories… we were just having fun :(
This song makes me want to tell the people in my life I love them before it’s too late
This song gets me right in the feels
Nostalgia attack oh god...oh god its getting stronger i dont think i can handle this anymore *head implodes*
Hi random person scrollnig down in the comments, dont you think this song is just amazing?
Update: Still here wont leave.
Yes... and too nostalgic that I feel depressed 😭
@@NostalgiCrazy ;( feel you
@@notrllyfunny Thanks bro 😭
Yup. That guitar riff is just beautiful. I still play it as a warmup every time I pick up my guitar.
you ain't shit quiet dude
*RCT3 desperately needs the same type of treatment and respect that OpenRCT2 is doing…*
2 years ago I started from the beginning and completed the entire game including the expansions. I broke my hand at work, so I needed a game I could play with 1 hand :)
o0L4nc3r0o Permanently?
Bill Nye The Russian Spy Hehe, off course not :)
Feels like my hearts starts leaking as soon as this song starts, damn that's some strong nostalgia
Thank you to my step grandma for getting me this at the book fair when I was 6, I'm 23 now and I still love this game. It changed my life forever, I love theme parks so much. I still play this game on my switch since I can't on PC. I'm gonna beat all of the levels again
Best game ever made in my eyes. Absolute gem. Planet coaster is the closest thing we got now
Over 16 years later, and now the entire game is finally released for the Nintendo Switch.
One of the greatest pieces of music ever composed. This shit is timeless.
How are these songs not on spotify. I will constantly put it on repeat😪 missing these days
This brings back memories!
who’s here after they just released the remastered collection on epic for free nostalgia hit me like a truck ready to dive back into this awesome game
I just bought RCT3 on Switch and it runs like a dream ❤️ highly recommend if you have one
You remember this when you played this game and just got chilled af and now today its Nostalgia pur
I love zooming out slowly and hearing this song faintly in the background with everything else going on. It was such a nice aesthetic...god I miss being a kid :/
This right here is the best rct game track of all time.
This is actually really, really nice mixing.
Wow I've never felt nostalgia like this
It only grows stronger as you get older
Many childhood hours were spent in that sandbox
The memories...
This song and main menu are a core memory. Any time I need a little bit of serotonin I just listen to this song.
Remember playing this game when I was 8 (now 19). You true It's a BIG
Nostalgia !!!! :) But Still on the PC and player yet lol
Same as me
I always used to play this and my siblings did as well, such a good game, also the people look funny! I still have the game and I played it recently. It will never get old!
+Judeale8 me too, I think it's one of the few games that me and my siblings all played (with the Sims 3 as well). And I still have it too, although I'm not sure it would still be able to run on my PC. It's worth a try.
now you wanna be 19 again...
now youre 24! time flies so fast
OMG too much memory, I remember that I started playing RCT3 at 8 years old in 2004! This music reminds me of the thousands of parks I made until the planet coaster release.
I played RCT3 when I was 8. And I'm 19 now.. So many memories on this ost..
Literally shed a tear just now. This was such a purely good time in life.
Omg the nostalgia is soooo real I rember flying in the air to look at my chaos of roller coasters and waterslides and this song started playing...
I've been listening to this for years. I've listened to it so many times there's roller coaster tracks flying out of my speakers by now.
