Hey, becoming a fan in this week, and the only relatable channel for Street Triple RS. Love your work, standing alone against big professional groups. Could you please make a video on the touring capabilities of the Street Triple RS and accessories. Is the pillion seat usable for my partner in the future to tour? Triple RS seems expensive and no much touring accessories at all. Also, could you please provide a bit more details on why you didn't like the KTM 890 Duke R? How do you feel about 890 Duke R for touring? About me, am 5' 4", inseam about 29-30", most comfortable in looks and seating with the triple, looking for touring cum every day bike that i can do tracks (never been before). Don't want to outgrow the bike soon, so ended up arriving at 115bhp segment. Can only afford only 1 bike for all purposes. My contenders are MT09, Street Triple RS Matte Jet Black (Green), KTM 890 Duke R. Couldn't agree more on the "gentlemen looking for class and finish, wanting to track" phrases repeated in your videos. Agree on the height, and comfort.
Sad to say I've recently sold mine. 2018 765RS with the SC Project exhaust, such a joy to ride! Having multiple motorcycles wasn't practical for me personally, and when the market allows you the opportunity to sell a 4 year old motorcycle with 7k miles on it for only a $1k loss, you kind of have to take it.
I hear you bro... I'd do the same right now as I can get 12K for mine with 6K miles (that's what I paid for it!)... trouble is... All the other mid-size naked's don't compare and I don't want a hyper naked brute so I'm SOL and will keep it.. Was thinking MV Agusta Brutale but I don't want to be in the shop every other month lol... so its a keeper for now until something catches my attention.
@@PetroHead - I'm also lucky enough to have a 2020 Speed Twin, which is another "best of both worlds" bike but on the slightly more subdued side. I'm 52 and don't think I should be riding the way the street triple wants me to ride it, lol. The new Yammie xsr900 looks pretty comparable, and for $10k none the less. Ride safe!
I have the 1200RR in Crystal White. About 20 miles outside of Tucson. Got the SC Project slip on, tinted Powerbronze screen, added more carbon hugger and heel guards. Almost 700 miles. It's a stunner, would love to send pix. Just after I got the 1200RR I got a Thruxton RS Ton Up😉😄
Wrong about the service interval, anyone who does service on their STR would use TuneECU with an ODBD2 reader. You can reset the service light. Also the shutdown is talked about in the manual, something about braking, clutch and accelerating at the same time. I forget exactly. Happened to me once or twice.
I had that same stalling problem early on. Also happened to me twice and like you I could never replicate it. But since then I’ve never experienced the problem again. And I’ve put about 21,000km (13,000mi) on the bike since I bought it in Dec 2020. Hopefully it doesn’t show up again. Thanks for the video. I’m loving my Street Triple R!
Happened on my 2020 RS once at a stop light. Mentioned it at it's regular service and the technician told me that there was a service bulletin containing a software update that he did. Never happened since then. Fitted a LeoVince muffler on mine, did numerous track days, I basically ride it like I stole it, never skipped a beat. It has a little over 16k km right now and I've never been happier with a bike to be honest. Surprisingly, I had more issues with my Yamaha MT 09 with random check engine lights and rattling clutch assemblies. The Triumph on the other hand has been rock solid since day 1 of ownership.
@@hstefan Thanks for the info on the software update. But like @Petrohead, after experiencing the problem twice early on, I've never experienced it again. Will ask my service advisor when I bring it in for its periodic maintenance service. Thanks again! Very helpful.
@@CustomNDKO I changed the first set of tires at about 19,000km because they were beginning to square off. They had more kilometers to give but I decided to change them anyway. I’m surprised they lasted that long, perhaps more than Pirelli would claim as the average life of the Rosso III. I’m not sure how they lasted that long (I’m a fairly, not overly, aggressive rider and 99.9% has been regular road/street riding with only two amateur track days).
Just got a '22 - 765R so recommend some nice travel routes in San Diego. Looks like you started at the La Jolla Cove and ended up in Torrey Pines. Map out other routes for us please. Cheers.
I have the same bike, same color, same year. Bike is SO close to being perfect. I want cruise control (I commute daily) but that's about it. If u wanna stay mid sized naked I'd say the duke 890r, mt 09sp, or try the new z900 se... maybe try the speed? I'm eyeing a tuono myself haha
? For u. I currently have a 2018 Triumph Thruxton 1200R which I am selling because I’m older and the leaning is getting to my wrist. Looking at the 2022 Street triple RS. What exhaust did you put on yours and did you do a full header system? If not y?
You can spin the mirrors to tighten them. But I also have the same issue on my triumph with the service light… did my own oil change and it’s still on. Waiting for 10k km service to take it in and they can take care of the light as well. 2018 street triple btw :P
Hello Petro! Been watching for a little while now. Keep up the great content. Could you help me out and tell me where you got that sweet Triumph key chain?! I’ve looked everywhere and can’t find it. Cheers mate!
Hey bro.. that keychain came with the bike. I bought the bike new in 2020 and they gave me a backpack, organizer, manuals, pillion seat and keychain all together.. I guess I got lucky others didn't get all that.
Hey Petro, since the weather has really started to warmup my new to me 2020 RS seems to be running a little hotter, naturally. But, because there is no actual team readout, I’m left looking at the bars. Mine has been getting to one blank bar away from the red zone. Does this seem normal? I’ve been riding it 90+ weather.
Hey bro, I'm in mild weather San Diego. The warmest it gets is like 75 LOL. but let me ask you.. does the fan kick on? If so, thats a good sign. My friend lives in Houston, TX where its 100+ he also rides a Striple I'll let him chime in.
@@PetroHead haha, I’m from LA actually. Wish I was still back home. Now living in NC. Yes the fan is kicking in at stop lights. I also noticed that my coolant reservoir is at the low mark. I believe it’s the overflow tho? So maybe it’s not as low as I think? Im such a noob. I would have thought the dealer I bought it from 3 weeks ago would have sold me with coolant topped off….
Did you ever get an actual tune on the bike? I just got a 2020 RS last week and I’m having so much fun with it. I’m just at a loss for what to do regarding an exhaust system and ecu map. This only my second bike after a year on a 300 so I’m a little lost.
Bro bike is perfect. Get an LV exhaust and enjoy it and don't waste your money.. Watch the exhaust videos or just go the LV route cuz its cheapest and best sounding imo.. link for it is in the pinned comments.
Air Filter,Tune and Exhaust is all you need tbh performance wise, other than that everything else is cosmetic unless you want some sintered brake pads for more aggressive street/track riding
Stock ECU can’t be tuned cuz it’s EU5.. but you can use a PC but bike feels different.. here is what I suggest.. which is what I’ve done. 1. Weight loss (lithium battery, lose passenger pegs, get tail tidy) 2. Add slip on + air filter Enjoy it!
Hey, nice vid! Recently just bought the R version from 2020. I have a problem with it.. above 5k rpm it vibrates like hell.. in just 30 mins my hands and legs are numb.. have you heard anything of this? Or any tips to stop this? So annyoying...:( hope someone can suggest something!
Unfortunately, the R version vibrates just like you described it. Comparing yours to mine, only differences are brakes and rear suspension among 1 or 2 other things.. just not sure what could be causing it.
Fun to ride. But i miss the kick of an inline 4 in the high revs. The gearbox isn't exacly perfect. Sometimes i can't downshift, rolling towards a traffic light. I have to play with the clutch to shift in first gear waiting on the traffic light. It's a kind of yamaha gearbox after all.

Honestly.... hard to find another midsize naked to replace with and I need a naked.. can't ride aggressive sport bikes all the time.
I notice my kick stand was getting a bit stiff too. Just used WD40 and freed it up

I wouldn’t. I recommend Gabro.

If you arent taking it to the track religiously, youre likely better off with the Street
