Dr. Arun, thank you for all your valuable advice. I have a question about the healthy fat recommendations on daily basis when following low carb diet. I’m aware of protein requirement and of course following moderate carb diet but need little guidance on healthy fat intake in gms or percentage for daily allowance

    A very good discussion,
Firstly, every parent should understand that a skinny child doesn’t mean weak child and chubby child doesn’t equate to healthier kid. Stop giving into the peer pressure or pressure from relatives. Just give healthier food. Instead of giving bigger quantity of food, give better quality food. Let kids snack on nuts and dry fruits. Stop buying cookies, don’t keep them at home. I prepare ragi urundais or nuts urundai and keep it. It’s not difficult, may take 30 mins for 15 or 20 ragi balls. I do it once in 2 weeks. I keep the dry fruits and nuts handy and ask kids to have it when they are hungry. We do eat out once in a week but keep the junk minimal. I don’t say this is a good or bad food, help them choose healthier food. My 9 year old knows soda is not good and it can damage your health. He has never had so never craves. But he loves burgers and I do allow him to have two or three in a month. We don’t want to have kids with eating disorders. We want kids to learn what is good for health and what is a better option. All these are time and energy consuming for parents but that’s how parenting is I guess. Let’s try our best, do what you can! Cheers 🎉

Thanks for this wonderful video . We lives in US.
    1. My son doesn’t like to eat anything outside. Wherever I go , need to pack food from home for him. He likes fresh juices , which I need to get from a fruit shop or Whole Foods on trips. This includes birthday parties too.. Even I give him option to try food at the party, he doesn’t like it.
    2. After he started his school, he likes candies, but restricted one candy per day . He accepted it . Later , he saw me throwing candies on trash cans, he started throwing candies too. Not eating and shows me it’s not healthy ma.
    3. Nobody would believe , I introduced ice cream only when he was 3.5 yrs old, he eats it once in a while now, not addicted to it .
    4. As a parent’s, I don’t encourage to candies , bulk container ice creams at home .. it’s restricted in our home shopping list.
    5. My son loves my cooking . So if I make anything he eats , without any issues .
I thank god and my son .. they make me worry free about his health . I wish god everyday to give him good gut health and mental wealth through his life time .

Since you live in the US I would advise on investing in a Ninja creamy which is hands down the best invention I've come across. You can use fruits, whey protein, milk and greek yogurt in combination and whip up a a pint of ice cream or a milkshake which has low calories,no added sugar and still high in protein. That way you can still enjoy an ice cream or a desert guilt free literally everyday. Been doing that for a while now and my health has thanked me enough for it.
Also dont consume fruit juices since they are very high in sugar content even if it comes from fruits and also some of them have added sugars.

@@ruchirshrikhande5584 thank you .. but I make fresh juice at home , not the store bought juices .. my son eating habit was developed late after 2 year due to his delay in tooth development. So he was introduced with juices than fruits to fulfill his nutrition in the early stage

@@bhuvibhoons4111 Aint nothing nutritious about fruit juices except for the fact that they provide some vitamins and minerals depending on the fruit. But because you typically use 5-6 servings of fruit just to make 1 glass of fruit juice youre consuming a lot of sugar in one serving which you usually cant when you consume whole fruits since they have sufficient fiber to make you full in just 1 servings. Since you consume so much of fruit sugar in such a small time frame through juice your blood sugar also increases pretty fast as compared to the whole fruit and also increases your weight if you consume it everyday

More parents need to watch this! I also had dark patches on my neck.. I used to get teased for not bathing.. little did I or my parents know at the time that I was pre-diabetic.
Dr Pal, my niece hated vegetables when she was young. Until one day.. she came back from school in Belgium, and in one of the classes the kids made roasted vegetables.. and the class had that for lunch. She came home and told her mom to make the same thing. Overnight she fell in love with carrots and broccoli 😊 Peer pressure also has an impact on what the child will and will not like, and fortunately in Europe kids eat well.
On the other hand, we have parents globally who seem to project their likes and dislikes on the child. Therefore when school serves roast chicken and salad for lunch, we proudly say, no my child won’t eat that, I’ll send mutton biriyani 😁

    @HereIsYourSummary 2 місяці тому +4

Here is your quick 2-minute summary of the video😀 - A low-carb diet works complimentary to intermittent fasting.
    - It's about controlling insulin. Carbohydrates produce the most insulin, followed by protein and finally fat.
    - Frequent interval eating, frequent spikes. Instead, consolidate meals. Eating window is to be restricted. - - - - Fitter person has fewer insulin spikes.
    - Nutrition, mealtime and fitness level are key to containing insulin spikes
    - Insulin resistance leads to Obesity, Type 2 diabetes, high triglycerides, High uric acid, Fatty liver, and PCOS in females.
    - Black patches around neck and under the arm are first sign of Insulin resistance.
    - To absord high-carb food, pancreas secretes high insulin. Excess insulin converts all food to fat. Insulin-resistant people will convert some portion of carbs to fat instead fully converting to energy
    - Remidies to avoid high insulin secretion: complex carbs, adequate protein, healthy fats, and adequate fibre
    - Type-2 diabetes starts as early as 5 years in a kid
    - Don't force-feed the children. Employ innovative ways to include healthy food in children's diet
    - Let kids eat from our plate. Avoid distractions such as mobile and tablet screens
    - Feed when the kid is hungry, except malnourished kids. malnourished kid can have few meals as long as nutrition is on par.
    - A low-carb diet is less than 50 grams of carb per day. A moderate-carb diet is 100-150 grams of any form of grains
    - Better fat hierarchy: MUFA>PUFA>Saturated Fatty acids
    - Omega-6 fatty acids are pro-inflammatory.

Great explanation doc! I would like you to reconsider suggesting too much of nuts and soya. They have anti-nutrients like oxalate, phytate, etc and I got kidney stones because of those nuts. Initially, everyone blamed it on keto but then I switched to meat based keto and am staying completely fine for more than a year. Animal fat like mutton suet, fish and chicken fat are all easily available as cheap as cereals. So it is also possible to switch to meat based keto from high carb cereal diet without really increasing food budget.

Dr.pal also please address birth trauma and the complications caused by modern birthing methods which were meant to resolve complications but ended up causing newer unrecognised complications like the birth trauma to child and mother... Thats the root cause of all other problems... It will be great if you talk about it

this doctor arunkumar is right. i follow him now. i did keto diet and lost 60kg in 3 months. low carb healthy fat is the way. Dr.Pal , u should practice his advise. notice he did not say the word GUT once... thats not urgent important for our ppl... do more videos about LCHF for our ppl and get millions of ppl live changed. no joke.

    • @sbnandini5
      @sbnandini5 3 місяці тому +2

I don't think that's healthy to lose 60kg in 3 months ! Our entire family did keto in 2017 for half a year and lost between 10-20kg each person. It's not practical to make Keto it a lifestyle forever. Also we don't know the long term effect. Animal products cause sooo much harm to our body , environment and cruelty also.. Plant based is the sustainable future of the world.

Do you practice LCHF = low carb high FAT?
Or was it low carb high protein?

Insulin resistance is also associated with warts in skin. By when we consult a dermatologist regarding the same ,he will say has no impact on health only if you want to do it for cosmetic purposes for a clear skin ,go about it. A dermatologist won’t tell you the underlying cause that it is because of Insulin resistance these warts have developed.
Amazing points highlighted regarding the kids activities and eating habits… thanks you for the enlightening information 🙏🏻

That's quite a lot of information, sir. It's wonderful listening to the conversation between two doctors. Dr. Pal, my kids aren't fans of broccoli, but they absolutely love it when I make broccoli cheese with a pinch of garam masala and chili powder mildly fried in airfrier . Dr. Arun has a great tip to get it work for kids. We are all blessed to hear you both share your wisdom. Thanks to you both. Long May reign!!
