    Cheap dessert: either leave the flour tortilla whole or cut into 8ths. Fry until crisp sprinkle with cinnamon sugar, drizzle with Hershey syrup and dollop of whipped cream. Fast and uses up the tortillas.

      My mom did that with extra pie crust dough. She rolled it out with a rolling pin and used a fork to poke holes in the dough to keep it from curling and bubbling up. Then, spread butter on the dough and sprinkled the entire dough with cinnamon and sugar mixture. Bake in oven on same temp as the pies. Remove from oven when golden brown on edges. Let cool. Break apart and enjoy!! 😊😊😊yummy 😋 😍

    A easy cheap casserole to make is - 1 lg onion chopped - 3 lg potatoes , sliced in rounds about 1/4 inch thick- 2 cans of cream of mushroom soup and add 1 & 3/4 cups of water to the soup and mix it up in a bowl - 2 - cups shredded cheddar cheese- in a 9 X 13 casserole dish put the onions on bottom - layer in the round sliced potatoes - pour over your mushroom soup mixture and cover in foil and bake at 375 for 1 hour- remove from oven remove foil sprinkle over the 2 cups of cheese - return to oven uncovered and bake 10 more minutes! This casserole I’ve been making gif at least 40 yrs it’s delicious and can be served alone or with a dude dish ! If you have the extra money you can fry up a pound of hamburger meat or some sausage or bacon snd add into the casserole on top of the potato layer before you pour on the mushroom soup mixture, follow the rest of the video as written! This recipe can be cut in 1/2 if you have a small family!! 🙏✝️🙋🏻

    I make some drop biscuit mix out of flour and seasonings and I let it sit for 15 minutes in a warm spot. Then I get a bowl of COLD water and a teaspoon. I dip the spoon in the water and then use the side of the spoon in the mix to dip and just get a little bit and drop it in the boiling chicken broth. Remember to dip your spoon in the cold water EVERY TIME after you dropped the mix in the pot. You can make as much mix as you want. I guessed it cost me $1 dollar to make the dumplings and another 3 dollars for the homemade chicken broth and a bag of mixed vegetables. So $5 buckes and I fed 13 people and a bunch had seconds too!!!!!😁😁

    For struggling people, I suggest learning how to make white sauce. To my white sauce I add some Knorr chicken bullion granules. Much cheaper than can soups as a casserole base. However for crock pots or freezers only use can soup. This is because homemade doesn't hold up beyond stove cooking. For the $1.20 spent on cans, I need flour/margarine/salt/pepper/chicken bullion granules. Google casserole white sauce. We make our chicken and dumplings Amish style. I make homemade egg noodles very fast and cheap. Cut them into big squares with pizza cutter. Cheaper than can biscuits. Flour, egg yolk, salt, water. 5 pounds flour still only $3.00. Goes very far!

    I tried your chicken and dumplings for dinner and I couldn't believe how good such a simple recipe would taste. I did add a little poultry seasoning for a little more flavor. Keep up the simple meal ideas, I'm compiling them for my 20 year old son for when he moves out at least I'll know he wont starve or waste his money by eating out all the time. 😅

    Hey momma, I have a idea to help on your tenderloin to make it tender and stretch it out. Make a thin cut straight down the length and start turning on your cuts until it's stretched out, sort 9f butterfly cutting if you will. Put a little oil on the entire piece, and whatever seasoning you like best that you have, then roll it back up cut side down in a crock pot and put in some water and brown gravy mix if you have some. If not, a little cornstarch or mix some flour in your water. 4 hours on high. I usually put some meat tenderizer in if I have any, if not, it's still moist and tender. Slice it up when tender. It will be spiral slices and so good

    I usually have sour cream in the fridge but I don't always have milk so if I make something that calls for milk, I just use sour cream with water added. If it's for something sweet I add a little bit of sugar.

    I have the chicken and rice crockpot meal in the crock pot I only set it for 6 hours since it’s 1:30 am. I added a few carrots cut small and only half an onion because it was what I had cut up. I had thin sliced chicken breast so I cut them up in little bite sized pieces. It’s just me so I like to have a meal for several days

    Every time I see you make that chicken soup and biscuits thing I literally yell at the screen “that’s not food!” But there were positive comments so I decided I needed to try it before I continued to judge it. And I made myself do it just like you did (because of course I thought I knew better). And it is indeed quite tasty, much better than I imagined- comfort food. I expect to be hungry in a short time but maybe I’ll be wrong about that too.

    These meals all look great! I will definitely be trying them. Although now, they will probably cost almost $10 a meal. (Maybe that's a slight exaggeration) But eggs at our Aldi were $3.79 this week and chicken was on a good sale for $2.99/lb. These are crazy times. Thankful for the great ideas! Blessings to you and your family!

    I often find when cooking that water will do fine instead of milk. I often make white sauce with water & will add a pinch of herbs or other seasoning for extra flavour.

    • @sarahstrong7174
      @sarahstrong7174 Рік тому

      @@joybickerstaff194 It depends on what I am making & what I feel like that day. I usually put some salt & black pepper in. For a sauce to go over a mixture of vegetables I might put in a pinch or two of mixed herbs & maybe a spoonful of miso. If I wanted cheese grated in I would add that too. Learn to make a basic roux & then experiment & adapt. Lemon rind & a squeeze of lemon juice can also be used in a sauce. You could make a tomato flavoured sauce using some concentrated tomato puree & throw torn basil leaves over the top. The fun is in trying different things. Thyme is a good flavour that can go with everything from chicken to nut roast.
