Buy a small end table or a box type night stand from the thrift store to put food in. Even a thrift store bookcase can hold food. Under the sofa.... If you think about it, you can find a space. In a pinch, when people think they don't have any space to store food; remember, we're storing for winter months or maybe even unexpected emergencies, think outside the box. You can store canned food under your bed or in your closet. Look around the house and see inconspicuous places, out of sight from visitors. Buy a storage bin from Lowe's or Home Depot that has a tight lid on it ($8.00 - $10.00, depending on where you live). I know of someone that has storage bins like this that has stored a lot of food in such a confined amount of space. She has pasta's, canned goods, sugar, flour, powdered milk, ramen, cup of noodles, canned meats, seasonings, rice, beans, mac and cheese, peanut butter, jam, canned soups..... oh my goodness, I can't remember what all she has in there. I just know she has a lot of food in one bin, and these bins are stackable!!! Make sure you store food that has the longest expiration dates in your emergency bins, and use the ones that are going to expire sooner. Keep rotating the food to where you're using the quickest expired foods first; but also keep in mind that expired dates on canned goods can still be used safely, even for years after the expiration date. (Google it if you're afraid to consume it after its expiration date.) Sorry for such a long post, but I just want to help as many people that I can. Thank you for posting your videos and helping people prepare for winter months! Oh! And also, if you have people with fruit trees in your area, you can always ask for some of their fruit or barter with something you might have that they don't, or vise versa.

    * When the package of 2 or 4 cans of Chicken have one damaged can, my suggestion is to speak to the manager and ask for a discount on the remaining undented cans. Especially where so many packages were dented.
I would have spiken with a manager since so many packages had 1 dented can and asked for a discount then discarded the damaged can. I have done this @ Walmart and been successful.

Every can had to be like a standing soldier face forward etc….lol…My mom did the cooking but daddy did the stocking. I remember on Friday’s they went to the neighborhood A&P in Chicago, and came home with regular groceries and also cases of canned goods. He replaced them as needed. My daughters are 42 and 47 and they occasionally are asked by friends if I still stock up like I did back then the answer is no back then my now ex of 23 years worked at a recycling plant and I could get all the coupons I wanted. A neighbor my sister-in-law and I would go the next town over and order cases of laundry soap and other cleaning supplies cereals other food items and go back the next week( I never cleared off shelves this way ) the manager knew we were doubling coupons and only paying tax on most items. honestly I never got the prepping aspect, I remember that with older people that were documented, lot of their food would go to waste/expire/loss of money, due to them buying too much and forgetting, having to rebuy; lot of their money would go to prepping.. I can understand to buy a certain amount , not to make sooo many trips, like myself I keep it to a month trip minimum at least, anything small like fresh snacks, whenever.
Depending how long people prep far and moderation, what not.

@koilamaoh4238 I agree with you that some will be lost especially as we get older. I compare it to buying insurance for your car. It is a waste of money until you need it and then you are thankful that you had it. We had a period of nine months back in 2013 that we actually lived off of the food that we had prepped. We were thankful to be able to do that and not have to ask anyone for assistance.

@@SouthernCountryLiving but considering the "covid" era... oh yeaaaa.. Prepping does help and makes sense when I think about it.. What a chore that short era was. Looking at possibilities of pandemics occurring. Better to be safe than sorry. There was also the "swine" flu era we missed , which wasnt taken as seriously, during obama I think; I really do not like being sick and interacting with a lot of people during shopping.

Actually I would have asked about a discount. Maybe they would have opened the pkg and discard the bottom can.

We've been making a grocery store on our basement since 2021 have a little of everything great ideal because things are going to really get bad. Blessings 🙌 ❤🙏

    Great haul.
I find the preformed patties to be tough when I cook them up. Also, if you have the ability to dehydrate, you can cook the long-grain rice, dehydrate into homemade minute rice. the dehydrating kills any potential bugs that might be in the rice.
I also recommend either freezing any grain based products for 24-48 hours before putting into long-term storage.
Be safe, Be prepared, Be blessed.

I was so happy to see this video. These encourage me more than you know. I want to do this for my wife and I. Our pantry is small so will look for a spot for extras. Thanks for all you both do. Such a sweet couple and we adore y’all. Chris & Amanda

Wonderful! Thanks very much Chris. Before I made the pantry that we have now, we used boxes and stacked them about five feet high on a empty wall in one of our bedrooms. That was about 20 years ago and I could move the boxes a lot easier than I could now. Keeping the food rotated so that you are always using the oldest food first is important and the more that you store the harder it is to rotate. I enjoy reading your comments and I'm glad that y'all enjoy our videos.
      Have a Blessed weekend,
      Calvin and Marie

I just started my winter preps yesterday. People criticize Walmart, but it's the most affordable in my area by 25-30% easily. I love the Great Value brand products ,most about 85% are actually name brands. ❤Keep calm and prep on brothers and sisters.

That is awesome! We feel the same way about Walmart. It is also more convenient for us than any other stores.

What a great video!!! Thank you so much. You actually got a lot for $211. Very odd that they didn’t have an electric cart so early. They need to buy more!

I shop via Wal-Mart haul. One of my coworkers got me started on that. Came in handy when I was going through my chemo and radiation treatments. Since I still work it saves time.
