    Thank you very much for this video. I recently had to drop the gas tank to fix a 3 foot crack in my rear frame on the driver side to AutoZone to have the code machine hooked up and this all happened after I put the tent back in so I unplug the battery in the code or the dash light stayed off. Thank you though something else I learned about my Toyota I appreciate your time.

    At close to 150,000. miles, I began having a few minor problems mechanically. I replaced both the charcoal canister and the purge valve. The purge valve was the culprit, but the Tacoma seemed to run like new after both were changed. If your truck ever seems to have any trouble starting, it probably is also time to change out that starter relay in the fuse box too. My truck has the manual transmission and it has never had any real problems.

    @1:09 is the lower hose the one that goes back to the intake manifold? Is that a good place to do a seafoam spray treatment (vs taking off the entire air filter box to get to the throttle body)?
    Or is it the side hose (right side of the photo) that goes back to the intake manifold?

    Great video subbed & upped ya. Got a 2010 Corolla 65K Miles and a PO441. Based on your video I replaced the purge valve and the gas cap with OEM Toyota parts. Cleared code and a week later it threw the 441 again. Now I smell fuel back by the fill cap area. I'm the only one that fills the gas. Today I will get under there and see what the hoses look like. Hope its not the canister that's a expensive oem part. Btw, where is the PCV valve please I can't seem to locate it on the valve cover. It must not look like the standard pcv valve. Thanks for your help let you know what I find.

      I got under the rear of my car today and its a horror show. In addition to the fuel pump and its output there's a large vapor hose that goes to the canister. There's also another small plastic tube coming off the gas tank I found that tube has a small chunk missing out of it. And it is weeping fuel.
      It is integral to the tank. Only hose that comes with the tank and you cannot buy it by itself. I am pretty screwed. Trying to come up with ways to fix it. It must have had a pin hole which set the P0441. Then got larger to the point I smelled gas at the rear drivers side tire. Its a strange hose with hard plastic disks. Looks like an armored hose.
      Wish i could post a picture.

    Thanks for making this video. I'm chasing a P0441 on a 2006 V6 4Runner. Has a strong smell of fuel vapors by the gas cap. Have replaced the gas cap and purge valve. Didn't fix it. Filled the truck with fuel with the engine running and fuel ran down the fuel filler neck lines. So I thought there was a hole in the filler neck and replaced it. That's when I learned there's a vent up there by the gas cap that appears to come directly from the leak detection pump on the charcoal box. Fuel was pulled through this line and then leaked back down the filler neck lines. Have also heard gurgling noises coming from the fuel cap area when the truck is on. Current gut feeling is the leak detection pump is stuck on or stuck open? Is it even possible for the leak detection pump to get stuck on? Any advice here would be very welcome. Thanks!

    Would this code cause it to go limp mode and shit you down?
    I also have the dreaded p261b which most say it’s the engine water pump. I figured that is the code that causes it to go limp and cause you to have to pull over and shut her down.

    • @HVAC_Mechanic
      @HVAC_Mechanic  2 місяці тому +1

      It is most likely the P261b code. The only component in the EVAP system that affects how the engine runs is if the purge valve is stuck open, which usually gives an engine running rich code.

      If the vehicle is older than 2010, the code can be cleared with a scan tool or by removing a battery cable. 2010 and newer, it will need to go through a drive cycle to clear the code.

    You don't know how to reset the fault??? That's weird you didn't mention that.

    I can’t trust anyone that says just replace it. Especially with a Dorman.
