    Pro tip: When spraying over masking, spray with a light coat of clear or the base color (in this case white) to seal the edges and help prevent bleed through.

    Thank you for posting this video, I am going to attempt my first 1/24 scale plastic model build in many years. I use to build plastic models when I was a teenager, I am 61 now, I have shaky hands and bad eyesight but feel the need to do something with my five-year-old grandson and he has asked me if we could build a model car together. I cannot say no to him. This tutorial has shown me what products to purchase and some very useful steps to take and procedures to use. Wish me luck and God bless.

    Great work. Personaly I would not have gone black panel lines. I would have gone for a light silver grey and not thick. You want it to be a light hilight, shadow effect. Not full in your face. I would have used a fine line pen. Worked great on my railway bridge to highlight themortar in the bricks. But still a great tutorial. I have a Tamiya MX5 to do but want to get it spot on that it matches my own MX5. I have been told flocking powder for carpets too.

    Get a pen drill and slot the brakes rotars, use thin wire to make you own suspension, fishing line to use under the hood for plug wires and such. The little details set a kit off but I will say you are a master with spray cans haha not many people can paint like that with them. I just picked up an airbrush last week and ive been practicing with it before I use it on a kit.

    Hi, Thanks for this first and foremost. A couple of weeks a rush of blood to my stupid brain made me buy a Tamiya 1:12 model kit. I didn't know what I was getting in to and the shop didn't tell me how difficult this is and what skill you need for this.
    I have learnt some stuff from watching this video but you are very experienced. There is no substitute for that. The questions I have for now if you can help are as follows. Do you think I should just use spray paint cans (tamiya) and not air brush? The instructions don't tell me when to glue parts together so I am baffled as to how to keep the model from falling apart. Lastly should I use primer? Please help if you can.
    Also your videos are great because not only do you learn about scale models you also learn about general car painting principles. Thanks for imparting your knowledge. It's great benefit to us all.

    • @JHHobby
      @JHHobby  4 роки тому +2

      hi, yes for starter and 1st timer its really challenging, u will experience alot failure in the process but just dont give up if you like this hobby.
      The instruction manual lacks a lot of information so you will need the internet to help you =) dont worry because there is tons of tutorial and guides on the internet and youtube
      For your questions, if you are able to afford air brush and you plan to play with this hobby for a long time than yes..if not just start cheap and simple first =)
      Most of the parts are all require to be glue..if there is no glue require there will be a sign from the instruction manual
      Primer is not 100% necessary in my opinion, but you can use it if you want to..it serve a few purpose. if you have any questions just let me know =)

    Excellent finished model! Question... what's the purpose of clear coat? You're wet sanding and polishing. Wouldn't you get the same finish with bare paint?

    • @JHHobby
      @JHHobby  3 роки тому +1

      Hey man, bare paint has no protection and normally its semi gloss or flat finish..so to achieved the shinny and glossy paint, u must spray clear coat and this will protect and bring out the true colours of the paint😁

    • @brandonmcinnis5434
      @brandonmcinnis5434 2 роки тому

      If you're using a a single stage paint yes you can polish it to a semi gloss finish, but you're not going to get the wet glass polish using single stage. For the best finish use base coat and clear it like he does in the video. Also a good alternative to a paint booth since most people don't have one, is wetting down you shower(important to wet all the walls and floor to not get overspray) and turn on your exhaust fan. Just to add to the already excellent video.

      Glad to hear that! 😃😃 airbrush is abit hard to teach..different pump and different airbrush need different ways to spray😅 abit complicated...but my suggestions is try and spray on something else 1st until you're comfortable with it😁 try on small parts 1st..if everything goes smoothly then u can spray the main body😁

    Do you usually wash your parts with dish soap and warm water to remove any residue on them from the factory before painting? I noticed when painting with an air brush this helps the paint to adhere better.

    I just came across your videos yesterday and I love them. Subscribed right away. One question, I notice on this one that you place your decals at the end. Most builders place them before clear coat. Do you maintain your same process even on decal heavy builds? Do they adhere long term over the wax?

    • @JHHobby
      @JHHobby  3 роки тому +2

      Hey man, thanks alot! Normally i will place the decal 1st and do clearcoat..for this video im doing the simple and non risky steps..because every clearcoat is different and spraying experience is very important..most beginners will easily ruined the decals when spray clearcoat

    • @mitchcohen4264
      @mitchcohen4264 3 роки тому

      @@JHHobby thank you for the reply. Clear coats will protect decals during the wax process then... If being intentional and delicate? Wax by hand only or rotor will be ok also with decals?
