  • @JuanManuelTastzian
    @JuanManuelTastzian Місяць тому

    Man, this was amazing.
    I liked the green one a lot. But more the craftsmanship than the "car design", let's say. That magnet bumper also a great touch. And the paint effect is astonishing.
    Have you ever tried to do a body kit from epoxy putty? I did do some widebody fenders for a 65 Mustang Fastback that I later painted, etc. but they didn't come out too good.
    Not sure if not possible with it, or I just didn't let them cure enough. But I was expecting more of a seamless result like yours, and it just looks a bit off. I don't really care since the end result was going to be a key for my bike, and I love it as such, but a bit disappointed on it.
    Either way, great work, amazing result and super inspiring. Keep it up, bud!

    • @themodelcarproject
      @themodelcarproject  Місяць тому

      Thank you very much my man! Yes indeed, before the 2K Resin I did all of my widebodys with "Epo Putty" which is basically a 2K Epoxy Clay. Works great and was the material that has been widely used inside the Custom Hot Wheels Community, probably still is. Did you mix it properly? And in what kind of manner did it look off? Does it have an expiry date?

    • @JuanManuelTastzian
      @JuanManuelTastzian Місяць тому

      @@themodelcarproject I have no more experience than this work I did, so I can't say I mixed properly or not. I guess I did, because I use equal parts and mixed until it was uniform, but maybe I did something wrong?
      It was not expired because I had just bought it (although they could have sold it to me while expired, but I don't think so).
      When I say "look off", I mean it looks a bit grainy instead of smooth, kind of with a couple of strands at places, and even if it was hard I was never fully confident to sand fully, so it kind of still looks like "putty molded with my hand but a bit smoother".

    • @themodelcarproject
      @themodelcarproject  Місяць тому

      @@JuanManuelTastzian Okay, so didn't you sand it at all or just here and there where needed? And if yes, what kind of sandpaper did you use? (If the grit is unknown, was it quite rough or more on the smoother side, just from the feel of your fingers?)
      Regarding concerns about curing: When I mix my Resin or Epo Putty, theres always some material left unused. Just keep it, let it react and then you can make a hardness test with your nails or a screwdriver, just to get familiar with the material. If you've already thrown it away, you could mix a (normal, not too small) amount again, just to check how hard it gets. Because some materials are by default a bit softer than others. For example: If I dont put any baby powder inside the 2k Resin, it is very soft compared to the baby powder 2k mix.
      Hope this helps in some regard!

    • @themodelcarproject
      @themodelcarproject  Місяць тому +1

      2k is the way to go. 1ks have a very long drying time and usually dont get near as hard as a 2k material. The Difference between them is that 2k materials are always A and B parts which needs to be mixed. 1k is just 1 material, the other "reaction" component is air, to put it in another way. Bit of complex topic because you need a special printer for this and they are far from cheap. Best I could recommend is just to get some waterslide decals from ebay or Aliex. They are quite cheap, high quality, most of them dont need cut outs and its overall a hustle free solution. But still thank you for your suggestion, I will keep this in mind.
