      Love the video ! It’s my 2nd day of the 7 days fasting now 😝 feeling weak… will going to have add the non salt and baking soda into my water … could you please let me know the ratio again.. was it one liter of water 1/2 tea spoon of the non salt & 1 tea spoon (not table spoon) of the soda ?

    I am at 68 hours of a 7 day. Day one was pretty easy because I fast for 36 hours twice a month. But the last 24 hours have been rough. Watching your video really was inspiring! I am fasting to deal with my obsessive eating which I feel is separating me from God. I also have hella insulin resistance. Good news today was my glucose was at 77 and my ketones at 3.6. Both better than I have ever had!

    Also, my biggest tip for fasting would be to keep yourself busy so then you won't think about food. I've seen people run to the snack pantry as soon as they get bored. Other than that, good tips.

    • @PeteOnPurpose
      @PeteOnPurpose  2 роки тому +5

      "Hunger" definitely is usually boredom, that's probably the biggest lesson I learned from this fast was that I am actually never hungry as even after seven days i wasn't truly hungry which is an incredible thought. A lot of hunger is just habit e.g we usually eat lunch at 11 so our body is like hey we normally eat now. After two days you honestly don't even really experience hunger however the body starts to get tired easily. Have you ever experimented with fasting? Probably impossible with endurance sports though I follow Erik the Electrik and he races fasted and eats a huge meal afterwards.

    • @giuseppeferrara952
      @giuseppeferrara952 2 роки тому

      @@PeteOnPurpose I also follow Erik the Electric. In fact, he's one of my biggest inspirations (though, I'm obviously not at his level). I also do my long training session fasted first thing in the morning and then eat big meals later. So yes, I have experimented many times with fasting. I typically fast the entire morning after a cheat day because I'm not that hungry after consuming all that food the day before. In fact, last Sunday, I didn't eat like until 3PM because I completed a 20k calorie challenge the day before; thus, for the vast majority of that day, I was not even remotely hungry. Though, I never went an entire day without eating anything.

    • @PeteOnPurpose
      @PeteOnPurpose  2 роки тому

      @@giuseppeferrara952 Yes Erik is the man and is so impressive how much he seems to give everything he does, eating, training, triathlons complete machine. 20,000 calorie challenge you're an animal the thought of eating anything over 10,000 calories gives me nightmares. 😂

    • @giuseppeferrara952
      @giuseppeferrara952 2 роки тому

      @@PeteOnPurpose I'll admit that the 20k almost killed me haha. Unfortunately, I can't eat 20k in one sitting like Erik can; he's literally an eating machine. I definitely dont recommend doing what I did last saturday, not even myself. I just wanted to do it one time to test myself.

    • @PeteOnPurpose
      @PeteOnPurpose  2 роки тому

      @@giuseppeferrara952 yes he is a eating machine that’s for sure. I get you with wanting to test yourself as that’s what I was like with the 10k, trying to eat when your at capacity is such a strange feeling that I reckon most people don’t experience as you literally have ti force yourself to that stage but fun to try everything 😅

I’m definitely one of those who fears the muscle loss situation, though it was nice to see how little muscle you lost. Also, much respect for your desire to dive into spiritual fitness. The mind is so key (If that even needed to be stated 🤣) but it is often neglected in the fitness process…

    • @PeteOnPurpose
      @PeteOnPurpose  2 роки тому +5

      Cheers mate, definitely was a challenge that I learned a lot from. Yes fitness is funny as so much is focused on the physical appearance but as I get older I am more concerned with mobility and feeling good on the inside, whilst also looking good obviously. 😂

    • @ststst981
      @ststst981 2 роки тому +4

      That's the great thing about fasting. It puts you in a state of ketosis wherein the body prioritizes fat burn over muscle. Youll still always lose a tiny bit (hence why body builders dont do it) but its still very effective for targeting fat over muscle

    • @PeteOnPurpose
      @PeteOnPurpose  2 роки тому +4

      No real muscle loss, if your worried i'd hit the weights but at around 85% since you won't have as much energy. When you hit the weights it tells the body that it needs to preserve it's muscle and it's strength and it will rip harder from the body fat stores. Any "muscle shrinkeage" in the short term is due to glycogen and it comes back when you get carbs in you.

    It should be stressed, overstressed even to take enough days to refeed. You shutdown much of your digestive functions, the last thing you want is to shock your system that you have severe complications and not see the next day. The consensus seems to eat or drink bone broth to get your body ready for food, everyones body varies but a 7 day fast is a 2-4 day refeed depending on the person. If you frequently do long fast then obviously your body will be more adapted to eating sooner than later. As for the working out comprehend going in you will not build any muscle youre simply negating atrophy. Once you start to eat again intermittent fasting 16/8, OMAD or OMEOD and hard workouts will easily build the muscle you want. Good look to all, enjoy your new you.

      Hey, bud, I am not an expert but I would assume anything that is easily digestible is probably best. However, I have seen people break 7-day fasts with burgers and chips so I don't know how serious it really is? I would say just listen to your body at the end of the fast I just couldn't wait to have a smoothie. How are you getting on you must be reaching ketosis by now?

    • @LauraB.335
      @LauraB.335 2 роки тому

      You could try scrambled eggs to break the fast, then an hour or two later, you can eat more of a meal, such as steak. If high insulin is a problem for you, the last thing you want to break a fast with is fruit/juice/smoothie. You’ve just lowered your insulin through fasting, you’re super sensitive, and you eat/drink something that’s known for spiking insulin… not a good idea.

But you know if you eat nothing then there will be no waste you'll gonna dump in toilet accept pee. And that's the reason why I kinda get scared for fasting more than 3 days. But my goal is around 2 weeks or so. Is there will be any problems that you'll not gonna poop for more than 2 weeks? I mean is there any bad consequences for not pooping for 2 weeks or so and is there any chance if I break my fasting after 2 weeks and face the constipation again in day 15th?

    NUMBERS HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING ME EVERYWHERE. I was looking for a detox because I've been eating too much fast food. I just stumbled upon this video. 555 has been popping up everywhere lately. Including multiple purchase totals being 5.55. Like ☠️ life is trying to tell to me to get my shit together. I never drink enough water and it probably will fix so many of my issues 😂 I'm going to do this because of those 5s man.

      @PeteOnPurpose I'm glad I made you laugh. 😂 I still haven't eaten and I've had a good amount of water about 32oz. Going to start with intermittent fasting today so I don't overdo it right away. It will get me a chance to eat healthy for a week, then I'm going to do the water fast. I'm excited. 😊 thank you for sharing your experience.

    I'm going on a 18day water fast... First time doing a fast for more than 12hrs but I'm feeling good... Abit tired but I'm all good
    Can you recommend the sodium and whatsoever?

      Wow, 18 days that's incredible, I just used a brand called 'No Salt' for my potassium and baking powder for my sodium. How far along are you now and how are you getting on?

      @@PeteOnPurpose on my 6th day of fast, started on 31/1/2022
      Just got my first dose of vaccine, add a pill and drink water thats it
      Tbh, I have gained somewhat energy, not that I can run here and there but I feel so light and active.
      I was wondering, how many days did it took you to eat solid food ? Since I have a wedding on 19th, I'm planning to cut it short to 14/15 days and take at least 2/3days to regain my eating habits so that I can consume solid food

      @@Anonymous-lh7hg Day 6 wow you're killing it, my man! I ate pretty much normal the next day to be honest. My diet is plant-based whole foods so I think they are fairly easily digestible foods anyway. Not sure about a 14/15 day fast though I reckon you probably want to give yourself at least three days before a wedding if you plan on going wild eg boozing and eating junk food.

      Yes mate of course you can't be doing long fasts all the time especially if you are looking to build muscle which I am. I only periodically do long fasts when I get a feeling that its 'time' if that makes sense? 😊
