    Kevin, u decided to upload videos earlier. I didn't expect your video, tbh, but I got notification about it. Tysm. Another great video. I enjoyed it. U made me smile.
    I had been taking your series. I remember when I mess up with my fingers and strings. I agree with you that It's super important to practice slow, watch picky hand. Love u sm. Have a nice day. Again tysm for everything. We appreciate u.

    Goodness gracious the baritone is absolutely beautiful with fingerpicking. Been playing a concert uke for a couple years now but just got a baritone today and I'm in love lol I mean I love the normal uke too but this thing is gorgeous. Thanks so much for these videos!

    Thanks for making the video series on fingerpicking. I had a question and it'd be great if you can help a newbie like me - How do I know which notes/strings to fingerpick in a given chord? As in how do you choose them? Any rules as such?

    • @MC-zr7hl
      @MC-zr7hl Рік тому

      Have you found any rules in the year since you posted this? I've been playing for a little while now and I've seen all different kinds of patterns, each with their own feel to them, but they all sound good and I haven't seen any strict rules to it. If you've found any I'd be curious to learn them though.

    Starting with an alternating Travis picking pattern? This is a great pattern that I will work on. Not sure where you are going next, but I'l work on this. There are more Travis Patterns for sure.

      Just in case you aren't aware, if you open the UA-cam settings, that little gear looking icon, you can slow the speed of the video down as well. Sometimes it helps not having to keep pausing and unpausing, just rather having the video play at half speed.

    Your lessons are really helpful and I appreciate that you offer multiple series for the Baritone Uke. I love the baritone's sound. I am fine fretting when I have an opposing thumb and one or more fingers holding down strings for most simple chords. Where I run into trouble is a G6 chord when the opposing thumb has no fingers in opposition. Any suggestions about how to keep a solid grip on the neck so I can easily fret chords when I am done with the G6.

    • @MC-zr7hl
      @MC-zr7hl Рік тому

      I'm certainly no expert but I've had that same problem. The best thing I've found is just having a good grip with your strumming/picking hand. Or more so the forearm of your strumming hand. Also rather than keeping your pinky anchored I've found it easier for me to keep the meaty part of your thumb anchored above the strings near the bridge, and then using the thumb on the D string, pointer on g string, middle on the b and ring for the e. Might take some getting used to but it helps me keep everything in place much easier. If you've found another way that works for you I'd love to hear it.

    I learned this pattern before playing outside/inside strings instead of inside/outside as you do here. Is there a reason to pluck the inside strings first? It does sound slightly different but it confuses my finger memory that wants to go to the "D" string at chord changes.

  • @joemac4557

    Thanks Kevin. New to picking. My middle finger seems to just slide over E sometime and not pluck. Do you think Gorilla Snot on the finger would be a good solution ? I have a touch of arthritis on that hand.

    Tried finger picking but find lack of volume, and the E string is very quiet, not sure if me or my Ukulele. I am using the Leho Mahogany baritone ukulele But when I use a pick it sounds great. Do have a Kala Solid Acacia Baritone ukulele on order but will be a couple of weeks to come in. Thanks for your video

    Hi. In trying to follow along, my D string sounds much different than yours. I've tried to re-tune it many times, but it still doesn't sound like yours. I just bought this a couple days ago. And can't understand why it sounds so different. Tanks for reading this.

      I bought a brand new Mahalo, second hand. I put a new string on it. That didn't help. The Lord showed me the compensated saddle was on backwards. I changed and it sounds beautiful now. Thanks anyway
