It's been a while since anyone commented, but as this is the first ukulele lesson I've taken, I'd like to say I appreciated the demonstration of the chords. I'm 55, soon to retire and travel the world very slowly (circumnavigating the globe by sailboat), so I'll have time to practice. I'm learning the guitar, and after hearing the baritone uke on another channel (sorry), I just loved it's sound and am trying it as well. Thanks for the input, and I'll keep watching.
By the way, with these chords you can play "The Gambler", and while its really hard first thing, if you play it slowly you can hear the song using the chords in this lesson. I was really thrilled to be able to recognize a tune, even if it was badly played, after just a few practices with these chords. Give it a try if you're a Kenny Rogers fan. Hell. Give it a try if you're a Marilyn Manson fan. It's still cool :)
Kevin, I started on the uke in grade 3 and progressed to a 12 string by grade 12, then nothing for way too many years. I rented a baritone last week and here I am, in my 60's and starting over. I truly appreciate your teaching style and video's. I am now crucifying my fingertips to enjoy making music once again.
Hello, new to learning the ukulele, I enjoy them all, but I have fallen in love with the Baritone ukulele!!! Thank you so much for these very helpful lessons! I've had trouble learning the finger placement & chords, until now! I'm able to follow you without frustration! I appreciate you!!! 🙏😊 Subscribed & thumbs up!!! 👍
Thanks so much. I can't wait!
Thanks Kevin. I learnt a lot from you about playing GCEA tuning on my soprano. Am thinking of tipping my toe into the baritone world so this is super helpful. Many thanks and best wishes
Thank you. Good lesson❤🎵
Thank you. Finally a good tutorial from the beginning. I play piano but needed to know very basics of this instrument and the chords and fingering especially. You rock!
Thanks Kevin. Very clear and helpful.😊
Excellent video. Thanks.
Superb tutorial. BIG thanks. Respect.
I have no natural aptitude for music but you have gotten me to the point where I can perform a small amount of the amazing alchemy that is playing music. I am very grateful.
thank you very much Kevin; excited to have found your great teaching videos!! You don't complicate it with, "too much information" or go too slow, they are perfect!
been playing the concert uke for about 2.5 years, just got a baritone recenelty, looking fwd to learning it!
great video for an absolute beginner. Many thanks
Amazing presentation. Thank you for sharing
B is a challenge, but a good one. I’ve tried the alternative three finger version but I come back to using what is shown here. I find that it helps to really analyze your finger and hand position, and make full use of any anchor fingers as you transition from another chord.
The chords are basically like a regular ukulele’s chords with different names. 😊
basically transposed by a fifth - as this is tuned DGBE
the chords are just guitar chords on the E1, B2, G3 and D4 string (= a Guitar, where you have cut off the A5 and E6 string)
So if we use capo...how does it work..
@@MrSanoopmp with a capo you can turn a baritone back into a reg uke, I wanna day caped on the 5th fret, but maaaybe 7th?
Aloha, and mahalo nui...that was really useful to a guitar player starting to teach his great grandson Ukulele...I'm play Baritone, he's playing tenor...I'm looking forward to future lessons...again many mahalos - Wulf-Eric
Thank you very much
Love the tips on baritone, Kevin. Can you go over alternate chords in the future?
I played guitar for years so bari uke was easy, tenors pretty easy too, just different chords for the same fingerings. Great video for the newbs. 👍👍
Just switching over from a soprano so the chord shapes are the same just different names. Love your series, will be checking out subscribing. 😊👍
I’m tuning in
Thank you so much for this helpful video! One thing I found out: it is (for me at least) a lot easier to play the A chord placing my index finger between my ringfinger and pinky, i.e. the middle finger on the D-string, the index finger on the G-string and the ringfinger on the B-string. I used to play the A-chord like that when I played the guitar. Although it is a long time ago since I played the guitar, this is still in my fingers'memory. Of course this doesn't work with the B-chord, unfortunately. I need such a lot of practice... Your videos are helping me a lot!
Kindest regards from The Netherlands.
thanks a lot Kevin!! your chanel for the Bariton uke is great!!
I've some difficulties to lern "somewhere over the rainbow" because of the fast pattern.
It would be great if you could show it! I like your way to show us how to play very much!!
sorry for my English🙈
so it's a guitar without the first 2 strings
Pretty much
To be correct , it's the first four strings on the Guitar the two Bass strings ( 5 and 6 ) are missing.
Great video again dude. Good baritone tutorial videos are like rocking horse manure
Interesting analogy 😅
I've been playing guitar and ukulele soprano for well over 10 years now. I'm very surprised that baritone ukulele is closer to a guitar both in tuning and chords that to other ukuleles
Love all for une thanks
The only chord I am finding challenging for me is the B but I’m getting better, just not easy to switch to another chord fast
Ty! Can you give the next 10 and help us with some more complicated chord shapes like the sus, 5 and minor 6th ones. 😅they are torture! There must be an easier way to position our fingers?
Can you do a tutorial on OLD MAN by Neil Young, please. Thanks in advance. 😊
Great suggestion!
Chords are a 4th lower than a Soprano, Concert ir Tenor ukelele.
Kevin, if I buy a Kala uke from ukd for you, will they set it up for me before me before shipping it?
And don't forget the Dm chord. Plus, when playing A major, I've learned to play strings 3 and 4 with my index only (hyper extending the 1st knuckle backward of that finger) and the 2nd string with my 2nd finger. Why? Once you get it and clean, it's WAY faster than cramming 3 fingers onto the tight fretboard, plus leaving your 3rd and 4th fingers free. Just my take!
Is there an equivalent to the high G string of the soprano, concert and tenor ukuleles for the baritone?
Nope - the baritone already has a low string for the top D string. There are a variety of options for strings, but they mostly all have the same configuration. Thanks for watching! - Kevin | allforuke.com
I plan on getting a baritone anf man does it help that the chords are in the same shape as the tenors! If you know my profile picture you'll know why I want a Baritone.
omg i have to learn the uke all over again..going from a concert to a baritone!..eeek..lol..but thanks for all of your guidance!
Are all these 10 in the key of G and considered a progression?
As an intermediate player, I still find b7 relatively hard to transition in and out of.
It is a challenge, but if you keep practicing that chord and moving to other chords from there, you'll get the hang of it over time. Perseverance! All the best - Kevin | allforuke.com
do i really want to do this?...worth it? :)
What uke are you playing? The link doesn’t work.
this guy has a 100% chance of stealing your girl...

Hi Kevin, I'm an absolute beginner, so really appreciate the little window that zooms in to show what your fingers are actually doing. Thank you for your wonderful lesson!
