Thanks for taking this 75 year old man with you!
Our pleasure! Thanks for coming along with us.
That angel statue is beautiful.
I just can't imagine, moving and stacking all that rock, without modern power equipment. Thanks for sharing.........
Thanks for watching!
Thank you Rick and Linda for another great show As we get older and hopefully wiser we know some of times God saves us See ya down the road ❤ 🎉
Yes He does.
Love seeing all the out of the way places y’all find.
Thanks for watching our videos!
Good to see you back. 😊
I was born in a small mining town, on the Colorado/Utah border. Wen't back there a couple of years ago and it was gone. Just concrete slabs where houses used to be.😥
A lot of the wood gets taken and re-used elsewhere and sometimes, like in Delamar, fire destroys everything. It sure is fun exploring though.
Excellent video, drone work and music choice. Thank both of you for taking us there and thinking of all the hard work and lives of the hard working miners.
Gorgeous high desert valley...could spend days exploring. Happy New Year ! Be safe out there.
Thank you for another adventure. Wishing you a blessed New Year!!!
Loved your video, thank you!
Thank you for watching!
I have seen documentaries on tv about this area many times and it is very beautiful but very desolate as well but I really enjoyed seeing the ghost town of Delmar and hearing about the other people up there and glad that you were there to help them
I wish you and Linda a very Happy New Year in 2024 and hope to see more great video travels of you around the countryside Thank You.🚐💝🚐
🇺🇲👋👋🇺🇲🎇🎆🎆🎇
Thank you, Roger. Wishing you a Happy New Year as well.
Pretty rough road! Y’all take care!
Sounded ominous at the beginning! hah.. Very nice story to hear from across the pond. It's like an alien world for us. Awesome. Hope you guys had a lovely christmas and have a great and super fun new year!
Thanks for watching! I hope you get a chance someday to come and experience America's west for yourself.
The round metal object could have been the top of a water tower. Great video. 🐾🙏🏻✌🏻🤙🏻 Happy NewYear to you and your family.
That's a fact and that would explain the odd shaped building next to it with the heavily buttressed wall. It could have been a water tower.
dont underestimate clark kent,,,,,,,,,no sir
❤🤍💙
Looks like a good place to search for gold.
The dreaded breakdown! Not if it will happen, but when. 🤪
Yep, I put my guardian angel into overtime, when I was a kid, lol.
It's a good thing your angel didn't freak out and give up on you!
Ruins like this are so full of emotion. I think of all the time and effort and lives that went into building this amazing place. So much work, so many stories; I wish we could see the past as an overlay!
That would be interesting. I always wonder about who they were and what life was like for them.
Well said!
Agree, the older generation's like these folks back in the day paved the way for upcoming generation's to live a better life. Much gratitude to them. P.s. My father was brought up in a small mining town called Elizabeth Town New Mexico. He was born in 1910. I'll close for now, again, thank you.
Another wonderful exploring video. Such history. I think about all lives working beyond exhaustion to build such a place of commerce for the owners. Hopefully the workers also benefitted from the obvious success of the time. Given the opportunity I could walk days exploring. Journies worth the effort. Thank you both. Praying all have a blessed new year ahead.❤
Well said! Thank you for watching, Sonya.
Rick, You mention a new drone in this video. Which one did you purchase? I'm considering the DJI Mini 3 Pro. We enjoy your channel. THANKS, Don
I got a DJI Mini 4 Pro because of its obstacle avoidance capabilities, having crashed too many times in the past.
@gonagain I decided against the 3 pro and purchased the 4 pro and love it. Will we see drone shots in your videos soon?
Regards,
Don
One thing for sure, building a foundation was easy with the, readily available rocks and such.
Yeah, no shortage there!
What a cool place. It would be nice to see pictures of what it looked like in its hay days!
I was thinking those guys that modeled their camping after the 1930's should have been on horses or better yet mules. 🙂 Those buildings were beautiful, most people don't realize the hard work and craftsmanship that goes in to constructing those. I had to reconstruct an old broken down landscaping wall when I was young and that was quite the puzzle.
Fun adventure. Thanks for sharing Rick and Linda🤠
Happy New Year to you both!
Wow! That's not exactly a place you want to be broke down. Haha footsteps behind me. Ghost! lol. Oh now that's interesting that they camp according to that time period. Bet that wasn't a cheap tow bill. Love the ruins. Wouldn't have to tell me twice to stay away from mines. They scare the crap outta me. Dang that structure is pretty nicely intact. That one isn't like the remains of an old iron furnace, is it? Isn't it neat to imagine what that old hotel would have been like back in its day? Love it. Hey if Linda said charcoal kiln for the top laying on the ground, maybe I wasn't too far off on the iron furnace idea. Love the old cemetery. Looks like there's been a little updating to some of it. Totally not surprised about someone taking stuff off the stones. People can be so .... well as you say.... disgusting. And some will steal anything they can put their dirty mitts on. What a great place to camp and explore. Fun!
In one of the old photos it showed a large area of logs, so I think they made charcoal there for smelting the ore. You might be right about a kiln.
Another great one Rick and Linda! The new drone footage is gorgeous, and the walkabout was great fun. You probably shouldn't keep any artifacts you find, but this would have probably been a great place to bust out the metal detector just to see what is there. One of my favorite places to use mine is on old wagon trails. Hope you had a great Christmas and Happy New Year from Alberta. If you ever do make your way up to Alberta we have lots of great Crown Land camping areas. More mountainous (like west Montana) totally different than the desert but also fun.
Thanks, Mike, we haven't been to Alberta in years. When our daughters were little, we camped on Vancouver Island BC in an old beat up trailer. Went all the way up to Port Hardy and had great fun.
The summer of 2022 we took vacation to delamar and oh boy it was an experience. We set out tent up in a building that had 4 walls left for a wind break.
The building that has the fire ring in it. So at about midnight, my wife, son and I were woken abruptly. All 6 corners of the tent were being lifted off the ground and slammed back down over and over. It was so violent that we woke up in the middle of the tent. Little to say we left at first light
Yeah, I would have moved out too!!!
You know, if someone had the last name of, “Hole,” I don’t think the middle initial was ever, “A,” just sayin’.
Lol!
Enjoyed this very much! I do enjoy them all but this was very interesting.
Thanks for watching!
Hi Rick and Linda. Mac and Kathy here again with a question. Hey what is the site or app that you guys use for finding BLM land and or public lands camping, please. I cant seen to find the right video you did with that info. Thanks for your help guys.
Hello! The app I use is available on the Playstore. Look for "US Public Lands", it's free. Linda
Excellent episode. I particularly liked the voice over and the choice of music.
I found this episode to be highly interesting 🎉 Have a fantastic 2024
Thanks, Eric!
Great video! My husband and I have been to Delamar several times, and camped by the cemetary also. It's a fascinating place! There is another unnamed cemetary in the desert not far from there with old wooden headstones. We have a framed photo on our wall of that building you called the hotel. We love exploring in Nevada!
We love Nevada because it never ceases to amaze us. You'd never guess that if you were just driving through!
Have you guys been to Bristol Wells, above Pioche on Hwy 93? Or Hamilton ghost town area?
@@gonagain
Great drone footage. Get a good idea of just how big this town was....great job! Be safe!
👍👍👍
These remote ghost towns are usually old mining sites. And I’ve always wondered how someone found these spots in the first place to start a mine? I guess just wander around and get lucky! ⚒️
I was told that it starts with panning gold in the valleys and then they start following it up to it's source.
Wow, poor Etta was only 23 years old.
Yes, life must have been really hard then.
Definitely some rough roads to navigate. We had a problem locally for years with people stealing stuff from gravesites. You’re right in saying it’s disgusting. Happy New Year’s to you guys
Thank you, Happy New Year to you too!
Beautiful views 👍. Great video 👍. That is horrible 😱 stealing the name plates 😡😡😡.
I like the southwest where it is dry and frequently hot though. We get all we need from the trucks the pipes in the powerlines.😅 someday in the future maybe I’ll get a chance to do Vanlife. Trailer looks pretty good though. There can be a lot more space there, but the gas mileage is probably less.
Cool beans, I've heard about it, read about it, never sawr a video. I wish it were an hour long. Thanks, I was half expecting Rick to look under at least one rock, (part2?), be safe you two.
Reminds me of the mining town of Fairbank, Az. They have made it a learning experience in Southern Az.
Wow! Interesting. Thank you. I appreciate it. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Amazing oh what a adventure thanks 😊 Happy Trails 😊
A stone cabin is the way to go. My dad explored old gold mines in the 60s and 70s and panned out a few nuggets from those old mines. Grave robbers will pay one day for doing this.
I am an explorer, and I am not sure it's good to take away all the risks and protect us from everything probably because I am a risk taker and love it, but I am also willing to take responsibility for my actions and I don't want the government to protect me.
Too many kids today just sit playing video games all day, and many of my friends are dead already from sitting around doing nothing but pushing buttons.
Thanks for the tour, Mike in Oregon.
Nevada is the largest gold producing state in the country, strangely, the federal government owns 80%of the land there, go figure !
That had to be at least a $1K towing bill unless the driver somehow felt merciful. Which is a good reason to always carry tools and lots of spare parts. And to be familiar with your machine by doing as much of your service work yourself. Probably one reason you see old vehicles left in the desert -- they couldn't fix it and couldn't afford a tow.
Thanks for sharing, absolutely awesome place.
Those people with a four wheeler their camp really was so cool and what a neat hobby. I haven’t heard of that before. And it is absolutely disgusting that someone were removed grave plaques. LOL about your heavy metal comments about the abandoned cars and a body shop that could fix them up lol.
Suspenseful vlog! Right at minute 6:59 the cacti on the right look like hikers... ghost town indeed
Your experience to me is very scary. Normally nothing to worry about but you never know
You think the hotel you were viewing was a boardinghouse for miners? Then what is the white object in the sky?
Wonderful effort by you two. Thanks for the guided tour. Happy trails and Happy New Year.
Our pleasure!
Beautiful in a way that only the emptiness can describe, been to old mining camps in Rockies but this is different as only stone remnants
Wow. pretty neat, thank you for sharing!!!
Outstanding work!! God Bless!
Famous last words..." who's idea was this anyway?"
Wow last year you guys got my interest up on Nv Now you poured it on thick
Perhaps that heavy round disc was the lid for a water storage tank
Motivated by your window installation to do my own build. Everything works perfectly, including the total insulation, electrical, and woodwork. 7x 14, tandem axle, and I transport my GSA. THANKS from a former recreational sailor too!
Sounds like a nice build! Thanks for watching our videos.
Remember there are guys out of Vegas in a club SNORR. They will come out and get you in the remote areas. All volunteer. A good club to have on Face book n case you need them. Southern Nevada Off Road Recovery.
Thanks for the tip!
the large metal thing could have been part of a boiler that made steam to run a stamp mill
Excellent video! Thoroughly enjoyed the little bit of history you shared. Love NV and exploring.
Really enjoyed the video. I'll put this on my bucket list. Thanks guys. Great job.
Thank you! You'll have a great time exploring there.
An Interesting video??? This episode was 'Super Interesting' & 'Cool'. I loved it. Great music n this old site is captivating. (I've been here once, now must return as the drone footage opened up the area n re-sparked my imagination.)(plus Gold on the ground everywhere) Yes, this episode had a different feel or flavor, from my point of view. I'm trying to find the right words. Linda, your voice is Perfect & Soothing. More Please. 👍
Don't encourage her, Vinny! I can't get the camera away from her as it is!
That road up to Delamar is AWFUL! I swear the rocks look like shark teeth sticking up. I drove just as slowly as you drove, and worried about someone coming the other direction. I was able to camp up at the townsite, and explore. Didn’t see any ghosts during the night, though.
Your video and descriptions were great! (Caught the Tom Horn reference!)
What a place! Next time we'll stay longer and explore more of the surrounding area, too.
So great having you point to spots in the landscape - and then sharing PHOTOS from when it was a city!
We wish we had more of the old photos to share.
Another EXCELLENT video! Thanks Rick and Linda!!!
Our pleasure!
In March of 2020, by myself, GPS took me straight instead of angling left to the cemetery down the main road about 3 miles. It then had me go East about a mile. Then up a rocky ass road twisting with no place to to turn around. But after about 1/2 hour, I finally came into town from the SW side. Then found out the right way to get out. I was getting a little spooked coming in from that trail. But the place is awesome, 3 wild horses seemed to follow me every where I hiked. I believe the building on the far east was the bank vault below the hotel. Never saw a soul. Great place to visit. Always enjoy your videos !
I know of the road that you mentioned and we thought about taking it back out, but it started out pretty rough and we turned back.
Fascinating! and, like earndog just noted, evocative for the lives lived and lost. These were some tough people. I often wonder how I'd fare if transported into the middle of it all, 140 years ago. About the only thing I might be able to do to equal the fortitude of the inhabitants then would be perhaps in markmanship. The rest of it? I'm not man enough. Holy smokes... much respect for these pioneers.
Interesting perspective. We've thought about that ourselves and I'm not sure that we would have fared well either, even in our younger days.
Hey Rick, I hear you can buy those ghost towns for cheap. Build a whole new town for you and Linda. Ricksville?😁
Wait, that could involve work!
Great adventure. Love ya both and 5he channel.
That was so awesome! I would love to fix up that two story house and the triangle building next to it and make it into a barn. I love to visit old grave yards. That was a shame someone destroyed so much😢 Do you have 10 ply tires? With those kinds of rocky roads it would be helpful for sure. You two were awesome to help those folks and got to meet and see their cool camp! Super fun!!! Thank you!!! Happy New Year!🎉
Wishing you a Happy New Year, Wanda! On roads like those in the video, we just go real slow and have Goodyear Wrangler Workhorse tires. We'll see if they last as long as the GW KO2's we had.
Remember when Motel 6 was $6 a night? Then Super 8 came along and was $8 a night. Now, you can't stay in a motel for less than around $100 or more a night., hehehe
I do remember!
Thanks for taking us to places we might otherwise never know about. By the way, I appreciate the quality of your videos. I'm sure you spend a lot of time editing, which makes your videos so engaging and interesting.
Thank you and you got that right! But it's a good thing that I truly enjoy the editing process.
Really liked this video! Finding and exploring old ruins is something I love. Happy New Year to both of yall.
Wishing you both a most Happy New Year!
I’ve been to the Kentucky Derby a few times and the ladies hats are amazing. In talking to some locals at a watering hole they said the women’s hats from long ago were quite heavy. I was wondering in the big round thing could have been the foundation of a long lost women’s KD hat.🤣😆
On a more serious note, what a great video full of historical information. I’m always amazed at the places you take your viewers and I’m really appreciative of the new drone footages. Keep up the great work and be safe. 🤙
Thank you, Rambling Gal!
Thank you for sharing this amazing place.
Coming to you from a small town here in Elko County, In the hills of Montello Nevada.
We've driven through there to avoid going through SLC's crazy traffic corridor. Loved the landscape there.
Are you headed to Quartzsite? Gonna have a meet up? Drive safe and Happy Trails....
WE're planning on going there at the end of February this year. It's always too cold in January and we go there to escape the cold!
well happy after christmas to the both of you, question , whats the wire around the propane tank cover? is that or the lines for the solar panels on the recharge? on the road did you drop air pressure down to half max. pressure for a smoother ride? first building , feed station for the mules and horses? those rocks from the former homes , would make a great fireplace face on the wall. mostof those type of rocks are in the 60;s was called PALOS VERDES ROCK we had the same in our home in san pedro,ca .
That wire is the cable from our Starlink antenna. I should have neatened it up! We don't usually air down the tires, but we carry a good pump if we should feel the need to. Good idea about the feed station, because that building didn't have any windows.
The substantial structure might have been where they stored the explosives. I say that because of how the foundation was sloped. inward and very thick. It looked like it could contain most of a blast from within.
Could be!
I heard a true and interesting take on life. In 100 years, no one will know who you were other than a name in a photo or something. A stranger will own your home that you labored to make so nice for your family. Your car will be in a junk yard or scrapped and made into something else. In 200 years, no one will know anything at all about you and your name or photos likely will not exist anymore. Most likely, all your photos were digitized and lost in a computer replacement or crash. In 500 years, your bones will be dug up and examined to show what people looked like back in the year they carbon date your bones to be from when you died.
Remember, when you die, all you take with you is the love and the memories...
That's all true.
Ecclesiastes 1
9 History merely repeats itself. It has all been done before. Nothing under the sun is truly new. 10 Sometimes people say, “Here is something new!” But actually it is old; nothing is ever truly new. 11 We don’t remember what happened in the past, and in future generations, no one will remember what we are doing now.
Interesting about this place and the history of it. Being so far up the mountain and desolate of a place one has to wonder who these people were actually. How in time nature takes over and windblown weathered this town is where only the stone structures of a few still stand. People buried there all but forgotten about them and their lives a very lonely place to be. Rick the story of the mine you and your friends went down that was interesting. History of the past is very interesting and yet our future will be the same. There will be ghost towns and the generations moving forward will do the same thing you, Linda, and many others are doing. So, 2024 is right around the corner and I know you all will have new adventures along with the history for the future. Everyone who was involved helping that man and his wife out of there kudos to you. Stay safe, warm/cool, and blessings. Happy NewYear.

Very cool ghost town. Saw another video about a ghost: Bodie, CA. Looked real interesting.
You go and check it out, Jeff and I'll watch!
@gonagain Don't wait for me, "From She To Me" did it. I have to check out what's happening outside. All of a sudden, there seems to be a bright orange light from somewhere coming in all the windows. Take care.
Anybody that would steal from a grave must have their own special karma.
Exactly.
I checked all the radio stations for around 20 miles. Maybe ghost towns 😅😅 there's nothing out there. Calinte. And Alamo. Lol. Really like your video s. I have been to a lot of the places that you have gone in Nevada. Some I haven't. Great video 👍👍👍👍
Right, not much out there but I was checking weather stations in the area.
Wow guys! I know we are having a mild winter here in the Tetons but I had no idea Southern Nevada was blooming in Jan! Thanks for sharing.
The Nevada series was filmed during Sep/Oct of 2023. We post 1 video a week so that makes them weeks behind real time.
I hope the tow driver gets paid by the hour.
When was Delamar founded.
Fascinating. Thanks so much for taking me to places that I will never go.
Thanks for coming along!
I enjoyed this video I watch you many times I live in Montana and realy enjoy your Ghost Towns of Montana
Thank you!
Best adventures on UA-cam! Be safe and keep enjoying your adventures.
We will! Thank you for watching.
My wife and I are in NM, and are biting at the bit to finish our little camp trailer and get out and about! Thanks for all the inspiration!
Good for you guys! You're going to like it.
Beautiful area. How close was the nearest town to this site back in the day? Thanks for sharing.
Caliente, NV is about 30 miles away and so is Crystal Springs, NV.
This was a really great video!! Thanks for sharing your travels with us.
Thanks for coming along with us, Brenda!
Interesting video! Thank you for sharing.
Our pleasure!
Super great video. One question water ? A lot of people. Where did it come from ?
Water was piped in from a well 12 miles away. Supplies came from Milford, UT which is 150 miles away by mule train.
That's a really interesting area
Kind of eerie, but interesting.
