Rick , I am glad you made me aware of Shoestring. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. America seems less free without him. I am so glad he chose my Tennessee to make his home. I love travelling ,much as you and Linda, but I am always most comfortable in my Tennessee mountains. God rest Shoestring's soul.
That was so nice of you Rick and Linda to put up Shoestring..he seems like such a sweet soul and he’s looking pretty good now..looks like he put back on some weight. thanks for sharing the video..Safe travels to you both! Nita
That Shoestring is a very intelligent, humble soul. I was missing his videos. Some how I didn't get the bell checked right. Glad you guys picked him up. I am sure you could have kept him around awhile longer. Maybe take a trip with you guys.
I remember when you folks met at the HOBO convention....Man truly is a treasure...And he is lucky to have friends like yourselves to help him out when he is in the area....Travel safe, be well

Shoestring is one of the most humble people you'll ever meet. As Rick said, Shoestring is just like you see him in the video, there's no fakery. Be safe out there Jerry
I watched Shoestring’s video a few days ago, that was a hoot seeing you on it, glad you two got together and were able to spend some time together. Shoestring really is a wealth of knowledge. I don’t remember who I’ve been watching longer, you or him. His videos are kinda like yours, I just hit like 👍before I even watch because I know it’s going to be good and a don’t want to forget.
I came across this man awhile back and have followed him.He strikes me as a very good man and if I knew him on a personal level would count him as a valued friend.
As always, this was so interesting. I've only ridden a train twice in my life. Once was a dinner train and the conductor invited us up front and let my husband blow the whistle and bring the train into the station!! He couldn't wipe the grin off his face for a week. Thanks for bringing back good memories.
Great video and very nice to let Shoestring stay at your house. I would love to put him up for a night or two if he ever gets back to Florida. He is a good ole soul full of interesting stories to tell.
Mark is a Cool Human Being on this Earth here in the States. I originally seen the Video on Hobo Shoestring (Mark) Channel and Enjoyed the “Bull” Greeting. 😬👍
It warms me to see Shoestring and you talking. It reminds me of when my grandpa would tell me his tails of when he was a young hobo. I sure do miss him. Thanks again for the smiles.
That song brings back memories of when I was young and was placing coins on the track to get them smashed. Looking back, it dawns on me that they were silver coins!
Very true, shoestring has rode around the United States, Canada and Mexico over the last 25 year or so, I've been watching his videos for almost 5 years now, learned more about trains from shoestring.
Been waiting for this video, Shoestring was one of the first people I subscribed to on UA-cam. I didn’t know how to subscribe so I wrote everything down. Brings back memories of great times. I the last time I rode was about 1971. I always watch his videos. My, how times have changed. My brother in law retired from Norfolk Southern as an investigator and was familiar with him as were a number of management personnel. No one ever bothered him and he stayed out of everyone’s way. I really appreciate all your videos. I believe you have some of the best content on UA-cam. Thanks for sharing your adventures with us.
Thank you for watching, mt-1! Great Falls has grown and there is a lot of new construction going on but so far we're still maintaining that small farm and ranch community feeling.
This was nice to watch. Well articulated and true. A day in the life of great UA-cam content and a pleasure to see you all having a great time together. Cheers from Ontario..
GREAT Video! It was very informative and II also love trains. I go to the train yard as often as possible and watch them. I used to be able to go into the yard like you did there, but security in my town has tightened up and now the only way to get to them requires a high center 4x4 and I sold my 4x4 truck a couple of months ago.
I got to admit, I got one heck of an education on railroads, railyards and trains just by watching Shoestring's videos. It's amazing what you can deduce simply by knowing what to look for. Plus, who doesn't envy seeing the beauty of the American countryside simply by riding the rails! Shoestring has the kind of life and freedom we all wish we had!
Thanks Rick, good to see you both together again. My early life was all about trains too. A great uncle lost a leg (almost) to a train wheel. They put him in a rowboat brought across the river to the house and took it off the rest of the way in the living room, no Dr. .
Thank you! Hit the bell icon and you'll get notifications of when a new video comes out. We kick out a new video every Friday. Hope to see you on the next one.
I also watch CCRX6700 Hal in the boss on the Cumberland coal mine railroad Hal also teaches the rails and the switch’s and rails so I love watch your channel now because you like and share shoestring hobo mark , thanks buddy BigAl California praise Jesus Christ grace grace grace amen 🙏
A Very interesting adventurous soul Shoestring is. It's cool how you and Linda have made a friend in such a One of a Kind American Icon. Good going Rick. 👍
I love me some shoestring videos … I’ve learn alots from him … one his videos he was just down the tracks from my home .. here in SW Mississippi on the Illinois Central rails south of Bogue Chitto Ms
I love going to model train conventions and meet all the railroad engineers. We all talk about strobe the hobo jawtooth and all the young kids that ride the trains
True he'd never ride a train with out his gear even for a short ride. I have seen some of his videos where he doesn't have his bucket but he did have a back pack
Thank you for watching, Freddy. We actually got to meet Shoestring in Britt, Iowa at the Hobo Convention and interviewed him. We were fortunate enough to be camped right next to him in the "jungle."
Wonderful video!! . I am a new subscriber brought here by shoestring. You have some amazing content on your channel. Thanks for taking care of America’s favorite Hobo.

I retired after 23 yrs. as a conductor on the C.I.M. Railroad and never seen a hobo. Always wanted to talk to one.

Wouldn’t be surprised if Shoestring knows more than rail workers. The guy is living a fun, exciting life. Such an awesome channel.
I've learned more about railroading from Shoestring than from reading every issue of Rail Classics and Trains magazines.
The train companies should get Shoestring a box car and let him hitch on to wherever he wants to go. He never causes any damage. Message from the UK.
That Shoestring is a very intelligent, humble soul. I was missing his videos. Some how I didn't get the bell checked right. Glad you guys picked him up. I am sure you could have kept him around awhile longer. Maybe take a trip with you guys.
