- Sometimes a campsite is fantastic and sometimes you just have to move to another! Lions and tigers and bears? Any one will keep you awake at night. How about a moose (very dangerous) AND a bear? Yeah, move along to safer ground so you can sleep peacefully. This is the start of our trip south and the scenery is incredible and the experiences, both good and bad, are just part of the adventure.

I'm glad we met. I really am.
You have a gentle nature about you and your heart is really big.
You left a big empty spot here when you departed, but I know I'll see you down the road. I'm happy to have you as my friend.
Goodness what an arm you have Linda for throwing that tomahawk...cool beans.. beautiful place yawl have chosen to camp..Love it..
Having fun along the way always the first priority.
Yes, it is for sure.
Hwy 191 is an awesome drive.
It's a favorite hwy of ours too and we're still learning about places to camp along the way. Thanks Shirley!
Love to watch Linda scamper up and down those rocks like a mountain goat. She's totally fearless. I never tire watching your videos. Hope to see you in Quartzsite this January.
Yeah Mike and we're hoping we can be there!
Beautiful country! Thanks for sharing.
Some beautiful scenery.
Thank you for sharing with us.
Nice hatchet throw. Great video guys. Always enjoy them. Stay safe and stay healthy.
Beautiful country, thanks for sharing it.
Thanks for watching Mike.
Cool, thanks for the heads up about that place.
What a place to camp...beutiful
Thx
WOW! Great find on the Stein! And watch out for rattle snakes in those boulders. They like to lay on them to get/keep warm. (Experience talking here. lol)
I was out hiking in the snow with my wife and we saw a bull moose with a couple of moose cows in mating season and my wife mentioned that a moose mating call sound kind of like an old Ahooga horn so I made that noise real loud and the bull moos, about 1/2 mile away started charging toward us. It was surprisingly fast! We ran the opposite way and my brother was driving down a near by road. We jumped int he back of his pick up and my brother took off. We barely made it in the truck when the moose entered the roadway. I advice NO-ONE to ever make that sound no matter how far away the moose is. We only had to run about 100 feet and were very thankful my brother happened by as we would not have been able to outrun it! hahaha (yeah, we laugh now... lol)
By the way, my CB Handle was Buckhorn. Nice coincidence. (FYI for those that do not know, before cell phones the only way to communicate was with radios and most used CB (Citizen Band) radios. They had a range of about 2 miles and line of site only, but it worked for us in Montana because we were mostly in one big valley along Montana Highway 278.)
NICE AX THROW!
I ran across your youtube channel this morning and am about 2-hrs into the youtube rabbit hole. Thanks for sharing your experiences and lessons with the rest of us. We're newbies, and watching your videos is like learning from a close relative. We sure appreciate it! Stay safe!
Thank you for subscribing K! We're really glad you find our channel of value and we'll continue our best to put out quality content.
Welcome to my world Krista:) I enjoy these videos too.
Beautiful out there! So peaceful away from the crowds of people.
Beautiful thank you
Wow beautiful place. I just LOVED this video...thanks for sharing your travel experiences ❤
Thanks for watching Teresa!
Great video. Love your adventurous spirit. That river looked like a good place to swim when it warms up.
Wow Linda... You sure have some axe throwing skills!!! 👍👍
She's good with slingshot too.
thanks for taking us along.. i always wanted to visit Montana someday
Thanks for watching, Toastybeer!
Yikes! I'd make sure I kept that tomahawk locked up when Linda is around.
Mosquitoes. Your shark cage/mosquitoes comment reminded me of years ago when a girlfriend and I took a trip to Padre Island. We bought some really large shrimp fresh from a vendor by the ocean and as an afterthought a can of Off. It was beautiful. We cooked shrimp as the sun set on the ocean and intended to sleep on the sand. Then the mosquitoes launched their assault. We tried sleeping in the car, however, it was stifling when we rolled up the windows. Good thing I bought the Off. Well, sorta. A brand new can and it wouldn't spray no matter what I did which included trying to clear the nozzle. In desperation, I drilled it with my 1911 Colt Commander and we slathered on the resulting flow. Stunk terribly. But the mosquitoes stayed away. Exactly 1 foot above our faces all night long. Try to sleep with that racket going on.
I loved your story! Linda and I had to laugh, but you did what you had to do in dire circumstances. Some of the best adventures are the ones we suffered through.
LOL. I was right there with you!! Mosquitos are Texas state birds! (I can only speak of South Padre Island) however-SW Florida has the relentless no-see-ums!! Screen stops Tx birds but not Fl no-see-ums. 🤷💞
Hello..great video again..glad your both fine..peace be with you🤗
Thanks Joe!
seeing her climb around that bolder reminds me of the guy that was hiking alone and a bolder moved and pinned his arm after a few days he had to cut it off to get out. ugh
That was a bad situation for that poor guy. I can't imagine going through that.
Always enjoy your adventures. Keep them coming! I pray for the day I can pull up and head west.
I pray that you get to do just that. I hope you can at least get out on the weekends to prepare.
Lucky you having Linda to protect you that ax toss was impressive
Thanks for the trip through bearcreek! Haven't been there a long time and been even longer since I've been to meteetsee too!
What a nice little spot. I liked Linda's sasquatch walk 2:44. haha
Your lucky to have found such an adventurous lady there. Boy she can really throw that tomahawk✌️
I have to agree! That throw was great and right on target!!👍
I’m looking forward to when you go to your property. That looks like a great time.
Looks like so much fun. Don
Interesting area
Tacklife T8 looks great
You got a like from me. Nice place you two. I think I would move if bears were in my camp. I think there's Gold in their hills👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
The rock you brock open is what my Dad would tell me when I was small that it's name was a leveright🤗
I've heard of leverites! Now I know what they can look like. Thanks!
Leaveright lol leaveright there
Yep!
That my friend is an interesting story thankyou, cheer's from Australia..
Stay safe, guys!! Many blessings to you.
Thank you Shari!
Beautiful video. Great job.
Thanks David.
My stepdad and I were in some of that area a couple weeks ago. Rode our motorcycles from Sheridan, Wyo over to the Bighorn Canyon, then up to Red Lodge (I can highly recommend the Snag Bar for a burger and brew!), over the Beartooth and Chief Joseph Highways to Cody, then down to Thermopolis and back over to Buffalo through the Ten Sleep Canyon. Beautiful country...and the prosciutto and gruyere croissant from the Meteetse chocolatier was to die for!
Nice ride!!! We love Wyoming and spend a lot of time there. Have you ever been to the Mountain Man Museum in Pinedale? It's worth a visit for sure if you're into what that life was like.
@@gonagain Haven't been over to Pinedale's museum, but it is on the list. I have been to the Museum of the Fur Trade in Chadron, Nebraska, and it is exceptional! I'm into Cowboy Action Shooting and muzzleloaders, so this stuff is right in my wheelhouse...
Great video. Every time I watch your channel makes me want to pack up and return west! Maybe soon...
I hope so Jeff.
Wow, this video is awesome. 👍 👍 👍 Be creative and look fun I like your video 😍😍😍
Great trip so far. Perfect camping spots.
Sometimes the camps look more perfect than they are. One of the last ones looked ideal, but the gnats and flies were so bad that you couldn't sit outside at all and this was in the sagebrush desert of Nevada. But mostly we do alright.
Gonagain - I sometimes forget about insects - there are practically none of them where I live in Colorado
So cool to see a moose! What a beautiful area.
Before Cell phones, my CB handle was Buckhorn. :) We used CBs any time we traveled around Montana
Boy, those were the days!
I just found your channel and must say I like your style and your outlook on life. I have subscribed and will be following you and your beautiful wife on your adventures. Thanks for sharing
Welcome aboard James!
great times
Thanks for watching Howard!
I'm really liking your videos! 👍😉🇨🇦
Thank you, marian!
Awesome scenery; beautiful cliff colors. 🦅
Glad you enjoyed it Linda!
See any sasquatch remote places like this
No, but I keep them in mind.
Great video!
Thanks for the visit!
Love you videos.
Thank you!
G'day guys. Beautiful & interesting country you're touring.
I had to have a bit of a laugh when you were talking about altitudes of your various camps - 8,000, 9000ft etc. Well you can't do that in Australia, lmao! You can fly all over Australia at 8,000ft amsl, and not hit anything (CFIT), might come close, 😂😂.
My answer to the question, "What steps would you take if you saw a moose in the wild?"
Answer: "Large ones in the opposite direction!" 😂😂
Thanks guys, beautiful country.
That's right about moose because they are dangerous for sure. In Alaska even the huge brown bears stay away from them. This one was a really good looking animal and the first time I ever saw one that was black in color.
Linda’s Bigfoot improvising was impressive 😁
I know right? LOL!
I thought the same! Linda did the "patty" walk.
love your channel!
Thank you Stephanie!
Bugs say fresh meat. Imagine being a horse back in the western days. WOW thanks that was cool.
Thanks for another great video. I am curious if you take special precautions, other than avoidance, for camping in bear country things like food storage etc. I'd also be interested in hearing about any preparation you have done to your vehicle and trailer to do the type of camping you enjoy.
Thank you.
Good questions. Coming from Montana we are bear aware at all times and we do take the usual precautions of not leaving food and cooking utensils out at night. We used to tent camp during our early travels but switched to the hard side trailer partly because of bears (We've had a bear come and paw at the trailer once). But usually we camp where we like and don't worry about it too much, although we are always armed in bear country. I've been charged once and it makes you feel very very small.
Tried your cowboy coffee this morning and it was great, four minutes makes a big difference.
Awesome!
Thanks!
Those covered and insulated wagons belonged to some original van lifers.
Those are still used outside of Bonanza Utah . And they will have a horse tied up to them.
Between the slingshot and now her throwing the tomahawk, remind me not to make Linda mad! 😃
Lol! Yep.
Love your vids
Thank you, Henry!
Loved this video!! You guys are living the life. 🙌🏽🙌🏽 I’m counting down til my time comes. My son graduates college in 2022 & that’s when I plan to purchase a rig & hit the road. I’d like to take a year off and just explore. I hope to catch up to you guys one day & have a fire side chat. 😊 I noticed Linda was the only one “packin.” Where was your side piece? Linda is an awesome lady🤙🏽 She looks like an angel 😇 but I wouldn’t want to make her angry 😂
I'll bet you are excited about getting the show on the road and it will be good to hear about your progress and your preparations. There's a hundred ways to travel so be sure to tell us how you decide to go. I'm always packin too and it's good that you can't tell, but it's in a cross-draw position.
Actually you may have had to grease numerous times a day, depending on how far you went. Thus the old saying ," We come about 3 axle greasings today".
I never heard that and thank you for sharing it!
Excellent again. I love it that Linda has the handgun. What does she carry?
Most of the time it's a Kahr P9 and sometimes a Ruger SP101.
Hi, great videos, but do you have one that addresses the windows, I didn't see it, thanks
Not yet, but soon. It's already been videoed and will be out shortly. Thanks Rich.
"Bears and moose...oh, my!" I could almost smell the scent of the forest when the wind was blowing during video.
Great views. Thermacell mosquito repellent device works. Apx $20.oo walmart
Thanks for the tip! My daughter like those too.
Way back the miners used canary’s as gas detection they carried it in a small cage and if it died there was gas. They still used carbide lamps in the 50s and 60s in the small mines they called punch mines here in West Virginia the mine my Dad and uncles ran they used carbide lamps in the early 60s
Thanks Dan for sharing that.
My father used a carbide lamp underground while mining coal in Virginia in the 1950’s.
Shepherd's wagon: The first RV.
They were actually very practical and livable. Thanks for watching Garret!
My husband wants to know where he can get a hat like yours.
Hello Angie. Go to any of our videos and look down in the description, I provided a link to the hats I wear. If you have a problem let me know ok?
Kathy wants to know why they didn't put zerk fittings on those wagon wheels ? And wants to know if the bears will play Frisbee with you ? I said I didn't know about the zerks , but definitely yes on the bears . Now she's saying I'm full of moose scat ! Have fun , y'all . Gotta go before she puts me in time out again .
Your good friend Vinny in good old Fla.
I'm guessing you spend a lot of time in "time out"! One of my grand daughters puts herself in time out. If you ask her why she says "I'm going to do something bad..." Have you thought about a similar approach? It could save time in the long run.
Beautiful spot! You mentioned wind which reminded me of a question to which I've never gotten a satisfactory answer despite lot's of googling. Would you please do a video about towing in the wind? I have a 6x12 cargo trailer, single axle. As loads go, probably 1000 lbs or so in addition to the weight of the trailer. I've read lot's of articles, including one that said don't stop moving or the wind can push you over. I suspect that might a grain of truth but not always be the best thing to do. Also, I've been concerned about camping in a place like Quartzsite where the wind can gust to 50 and there's nothing to break it up. Is it feasible to anchor the trailer somehow?
Hi Richard. We did one video about towing in the wind (ua-cam.com/video/G4Wm2q8LfJE/v-deo.html) but one that elaborates on the effect of weight and angle to the wind might be a good idea. After witnessing a pickup truck get flipped over by by the boat and trailer it was towing getting flipped by wind, there is no way I would continue to drive in high winds. Get off the road and park facing into the wind and you'll be safe. The same thing goes for camping, like in Quartzsite. Face your trailer or RV into the wind when you set up camp. You'll need to check the weather report to find out what the prevailing winds are going to be first. That's something we always do no matter where we are, sometimes just to keep the trailer door from getting blown out of our hands when we open it!
@@gonagain Thanks! I consider myself a newbie at towing. I camped in my cargo trailer in Quartzsite last January for a week at QuartzFest (ham radio event). The year before I was a tent camper and we had 30 mph winds for 4 days with gusts to 50. I used up all my #36 bank line adding guy lines to my tent, my neighbors canopy, and the special event radio station canopy. Love the pebble trick! I really needed it that day. I also love the taut line hitch! No gimmicks or hardware to fail. I' love any info you put out on safe towing. There's lot's of information out there but trusted sources not so much. You guys put in so many miles you've had to have lot's of experience with wind. I keep it at 55 on the highway but I routinely see people towing at 70.
Do your travel destinations revolve around the ability to carry?
Yes, they do.
My father used a carbide lamp during the 1950’s as he loaded coal by hand.
I'm also the son and grandson of coal miners! What a hard life they had.
Mosquitos? Are you still using the 5 sided screen tent? Love your videos...
We are still using the Clam shelter but usually don't put it up for an overnight stop. I'm going to do another video on it soon pointing out the pluses and minuses (it's a keeper).
If you had to do it over again would you have gone with a larger cargo trailer for your build?
No, we wouldn't have, but it's funny you ask because Linda mentioned that we should do a video that explains our choice.
I like to follow people's adventures on a map, and can't locate that place. I don't know how it's spelled. Is it Mateetsee? Sounds like it, but I know that's wrong. Closed captions calls it TT. I hope you wouldn't mind including the name of these places you visit in your description or something. Many thanks!
OOps! Found it, sorry.
I understand what you're saying because whenever I watch a video, the first thing I want to know is where it was taken. I'll try harder. Thanks for watching Judith.
Do have a trailer dealer to recommend ?
Not a dealer, but the Stealth brand trailer that I own is very well made. They're manufactured and sold in different parts of the country. Mine was made in Bonner, MT.
👁👁 shoestring sent me
Skeeters! Do you use D.E.E.T. and/or permithrin? You said the cave was "tagged"...? What's that mean?
It usually means that a vandal with a spray can has been there.
We normally use D.E.E.T. and the stronger the better, but this last trip we had good luck with what the military is using, which is picaridin. Ours is made by Sawyer and is in a lotion form. It doesn't have a smell and it works. I was still using the deet, but Linda was having such good results with the picaridan that I tried it and liked it. By "tagged" I was referring to the graffiti. What a shameful act that is.
Looks like Linda’s squatting to pee as you creep up on her with the camera…🙀
Absolutely beautiful countryside throughout our western states of which I enjoyed living amongst for 20 years. Sure do miss the varied colorful rock formations as I’ve been back east now 21 years. 🚌
She had bent down to pick up her tomahawk when she saw the deer.
Ever encounter rattle snakes?
Very seldom, but we are always on the lookout so as not to be surprised. We did a video on how we avoid them that you might find interesting: ua-cam.com/video/tpWWM6aIW84/v-deo.html
I just gotta ask... moose in utaha?
The moose was in Wyoming.
I'm surprised the movie wasn't called Grease Your Wagon
Hadn't thought of that and it was hard to figure out a title for this one. That would have worked!
You should have explained the difference between black bear and grizzly bear poop. Yes, there is a joke in there somewhere.
Even cheater banana cream pie is easy to make and good. Graham crackers crust, bananas, vanilla pudding and cool whip. Isn't just so nice to do what ever you want to do with just you and your favorite person in the world? !!!!
That's by far my favorite!
Bullseye! I like throwing axe.
Was it Veyo Utah??
Hahahaaa
Horrible pies!
I'll have to remember that because I'm a sucker for pie. Steer clear of Veyo pie!
Cool to see a woman packing heat...The great equalizer
Jo-Ann and I have stopped at the Smith Mine on our motorcycle to take pictures. Been to Meeteetse, WY and Lander, WY too.
Rick , did you know they make Travel Trailers that are like sheep wagons? Here is a link www.peakmtncamps.com/
When you think about it , the Buckboard was probably the first Pickup Truck.
We've been to South Pass City, WY and Atlantic City, WY. It's like stepping back in time , very cool!
Great video guys. Jo-Ann and I really enjoyed it.
JT
Thanks JT. The most impressive wagon that we've ever seen is at Fort Bridger in SW Wyoming. It's a freight wagon that is incredibly massive and was used to haul freight along the Spanish Trail. The wheels are about my height and the steel rims, or tires, are about 8 inches wide. Good thing the railroad came along!
@@gonagain
I saw that wagon Rick , Jo and I have been to Fort Bridger.. I liked the antique bear trap they have too.
Awesome! Love seeing women pack'n.
And she knows how to use it. She also has a wall covered with plaques for rifle competitions.
Yowsa
Check out engelscoachshop on youtube. nice video, nice throw Linda.
That's a cool channel.
@@gonagain he is talented . Linda's ax throw is pretty awesome,
Climbing rocks like that, you might find Mr snake hiding. Please be careful!!!
Absolutely! Came across a non-poisonous one just moments before I shot the clip up on the rock face.
You better be careful your wife throws a good axe 😬
Continental Oil Company = CONOCO aka (today) CONOCOPHILLIPS
Thanks Tyler.
