being a metal fabricator im thinking if we had a custom loop we could slip our shoe into onto the pedal.....the wife just bought an exercise bike and the pedals have a loop over the pedals made out of rubber.....im thinking a metal loop as to not be so grabby when you insert or remove your foot from the pedal......and a weight to keep the pedal right side up
Oh yes. I'm making a video on it but this setup is the result of two sessions with a professional bike fitter and involves custom insoles, special pedals, and a bunch more. My feet are weird.
I figured you had, but thought it worth mentioning in the off chance you hadn’t. Getting the right cleat positioning can tough especially for different types of riding. And little adjustments can alleviate or cause pain/discomfort, especially in the ankles and knees. But once you have it dialed, I think the benefits are generally worth it.
i could feel the negativity.....lol.....but i looked at it as a growing experience for you and will make you stronger in knowing that is what you might run into while doing that race.....
100%. But yeah, the negativity death spiral is definitely a psychological weakness I have. In the past I've just stopped riding when the vibes get bad, but obviously that's not really possible for a race if I want to finish it. So it's something I've been working on. And in a way this ride was kind of a success - not that I was able to get rid of the negativity, but I was able to push through it and finish the ride as planned anyway. Now I need to work on more positive self-talk to turn the vibes around when this kind of thing happens!
@@CharlieWentOutside what brings on the negativity? is it boredom and you start losing focus which in turn makes you ride worse and that gets scary in itself?
May have to check this system out, my wife might like riding these trails. Trail 8 reminds me a bit of Middle Timber Haul in Millinocket.

Have you tried adjusting the position of your cleats? It’s harder to get the right leverage to unclip if the cleats are positioned too far back.

@@michaelcoco2688 yeah it's definitely a good suggestion - before the bike fit I had it all wrong

Just trying to do this is a BIG feat....
Thanks!
....and remember, all the other race participants are going through the same strain on the brain as you, that right there makes me a little stronger
