      @@somewherebetweenpsychotica9224 Because sometimes parents are not of a "boomer" as their teenage kids think they are. It's a common thing for teenagers to have risque pictures of themselves and very easy for young guys to pass them around. My daughters are terrified to do so because they know that I will KNOW, within a day of them posting them. Just like it took me a few days to figure out what handle my then 13 year old had to flirt with guys on Instagram.

    Tom didn't know that Mary was lying, so her lie shouldn't influence his sentence or guilt. In his mind, he had lied to this 18 year old girl and she moved on despite feeling conflicted. He felt so entitled to her affection that he murdered a young man. He is a terrible person, can't believe that they charged him with manslaughter when it was clearly a premeditated attack and his goal was to kill Brian.

    • @blazaybla22
      @blazaybla22 2 роки тому +49

      100% agree that Mary had no culpability in the murder but I’ll just note that I had the same reaction to the manslaughter charge until I heard he got a 20 year sentence for it. If it was like a nickel or dime I would’ve been heated

    • @TubularBelles

      Yeah. Premeditated murder. How did they come up with manslaughter? Or even second degree murder?

    • @smithamy1982
      @smithamy1982 2 роки тому +22

      the reason they charged him with 2nd degree murder, it was considered an act of passion, he was manipulated into believing a lie that left him in a delirious state of mind that led to a crime of passion (even though it was still premeditated 1st degree murder, which we know), the prosecutor didn't believe they could get a conviction for 1st degree murder, given the drama and cat fishing that occurred, so they opted to charge it to 2nd degree murder. however, his lawyer then stepped in and said, so my client will plead guilty to a lesser charge of manslaughter but will still be sentenced to the maximum amount of time, saving the town and you from gone to trial, setting the case or we will see you in court. clearly the da lacked a spine and agreed. he's still serving a lengthy sentence but ultimately its not Justice. considering many murderers get off serving less than 10yrs, at least he's behind bars. although, a more fitting sentence would be life with the real woman who manipulated both of them out of boredom

My best friend was murdered in the spring because the attacker thought that my best friend called him a name, which he didn't, and got stabbed once in the heart. He never had been in a fight in his entire life. The guy got a plea deal for manslaughter.....

I live in a senior building where people don't realize that they are not thinking as well as they used to and maybe are developing some sort of senility. They forget the good things and ways that I've helped them and recently got angry at the drop of a hat. I was holding them accountable for their unsensible bad behavior but I realize they may not be able to help themselves. Sometimes it's best to let things go. Things could escalate into something as ugly as we have seen in this video. They were all otherwise normal people until they weren't !! "This is my first time as a law enforcement officer, in my career, that I felt ashamed by the acts of another officer."
      I paraphrased SLIGHTLY by taking out a couple words that were redundant, but I did not change the substance of what he said.
      And context doesn't matter. Any officer that says they've never been ashamed of another officer's actions is either dishonest...or horrible. I mean, that case took place in 2015. History is littered with bad officers. There have been a LOT of police officers who've acted badly. For that to be the FIRST he's ever been ashamed of...in 2015...well that doesn't say much for him.

    I actually met one of Charles' kids back in 2017. My ex at the time was friends with the kids and they went to the same highschool. I lived about 20mins from fox lake and I remember watching all of the searches and the funeral profession on the news. When I met one of his kids they still believed that he was innocent and all the media was lying. They also mentioned how their mom was probably going to jail as well. It was honestly awful to see how this devastated the kids. I don't think anyone expected it. I feel awful for them and I can't imagine having everyone you know convinced your dad was an awful person. After seeing this video I'm more sure that all the media and what my parents said was true. I honestly didn't want to believe it.
