Great video John! I've been cooking for years, but you Brits never cease to amaze me. Onion pie isn't a thing in the States. I'm heading to the kitchen to make it now. Thanks!
Jeff Ward when I see dishes from USA and the vegetables I’m always shocked 🤣 and what the heck is pancakes with bacon and maple syrup!!!?!?!? Sweet Jesus ! You dudes have some very very strange taste preferences 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽🤣👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽
Im from the states and do not care for pancakes as the texture is wrong for me. I prefer waffles as there are more crispy bits in the texture. The waffle or pancake will be a tiny bit sweet..you add salted butter to melt over the top and then maple syrup which is very good..our american bacon is salt and smokey cured and when it edges into the maple syrup it is really nice..makes for a nice mixture of sweet and salty and a very filling breakfast..you also might want to look into chicken and waffles...you can see this on youtube anywhere
what does that even mean? what is weird about pancakes and bacon and maple syrup? mixing of sweet and savory? very common and frankly simple cooking technique across the world, pairing sweet and salty/savory. Do me a favor and go fuck yourself, Gabriel.
Great recipe, I made it but put it in a pasty with simple short crust pastry, and mashed in some boiled sweet potato to the filling. Beautiful - almost as good as your chicken pie recipe that I make every week !
Wowzers, yep my mouth was watering whilst watching this chef! Defo making this bad boy! Chin up, love you!!

Well it does look lovely and comfy but no meat, and the only "expensive" stuff in it is the chease, 3-4 Pounds max! Still it's a great recipe. Gonna give it a try this week.
in the states the cheese alone would cost at least ten dollars..we can get any exotic cheese you want here in Dallas and sometimes can pay over one hundred dollars for a quarter pound of it...we do have exotic cheese shops here ..its not just american cheese product
Great recipe John! But I would only pay around £3,5 to £4 but if it came with a nice crisp lager I would love to pay £6. Increase the peace, best wishes from Denmark
We like veggie produce as well as meat. Well handsome looking pie, was thinking £3.50 4 quid maybe that's being tight for a quality made pie. Do you think this will work for pasties too. I've not seen an onion cut that way before. Thankyou John.
That pie 🥧 looks soooo good. It’s good to give meat a break sometimes lol During the summer, will you be cooking on the street? I miss those days but for winter season the new kitchen is awesome 👍 Continue the amazing job you doing.
This is absolutely my kind of veggie meal! One question: What exactly do you folks on the other side of the pond mean when you say “moorish“? It seems to be something between comforting and decadent, but every time i think that I understand it, someone uses it to mean something that doesn't jibe with my interpretation. Also, what, if anything, does it have to do with Othello & Co.?
Mr quilter, suffering? Cold coming,?tense nervous headache.? Awwww. Power through it fella 😉 get well soon if so, but great pie chef . Making jam role poly tonight, why you ask?, why the hell not its cold I need pudding
i love your cooking i watch it all the time i was wonder could you make me this dish please the food in toronto is amazing. could you come to mississauga Ontario
That looks absolutely mind-blowing mate, great job! I'd pay maybe 4 quid for it though, 6 would be if it had something else on the plate (not sure what it could be though!) Cheers!
Are pies that cheap in the UK? That pie is massive. 1/4 slice of that should go for 6-8 in a restaurant easy even if it is veggie. Street tax taking it's toll.
Man i cant understand pricing in UK , and I think it’s a bit too much for me...coming from Romania!!! Even you thought it’s to much 💪🏽😅👌🏽 nevertheless I always enjoy your vids mate !!! Keep up the good work!!! Ya the best uncle busker!!!💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
I know you were trying to make an easy one, but if you had put the filling in a full pie dough, it would had looked cleaner and probably increased the perceived price. But for a slice that big, I would say £6.00 as well.
I agree, when I make this I'm going to use a full pie dough, but I am a sucker for pastry in general so I'll always opt for the more pastry option. :-)
I'd pay about...$7 for that. (4.95 British Pound) I'd do the 6£ if it had some accessories. I'm thinking just a good chunk of toasted bread going with it could raise the price.
I'd actually be happy to pay the 6 pounds myself. If YOU were selling it to me, haha. And with that I suddenly realize I had forgotten to subscribe so yay here I am :D !
Hey john.... What happened to you I don't see you happy cooking? I love to see you excited with food.... Come on.... My wife and me see your videos everyday before going to bed and feel good....
Anything else I can use instead of white wine vinegar?
6 років тому
red wine vinegar Any kind of vinegar as long as it has the same acidity. Normal vinegars are usually 20%, sometimes 10. AWV has around 5-7%. What's your problem with wine vinegar?
you could also deglaze the pan with a couple tablespoons of water and maybe add 1-2 squeezes of lemonjuice after most of the liquid has reduced/evaporated.
My problem is that I'm too lazy to go out shopping and I have all the other ingredients, just not white vine vinegar.. I'll use the water and 1-2 squeezhes of lemonjuice one.
The foods are amazing! Your energy, hosting and cooking skills brilliant! But only bad comment about your videos: don't use your lapel microphone while you make interview with people. Use your "external on camera mic." Otherwise can't understand what they saying and sound comes so creepy.
Are these people really in London? Pieminister on Leather lane charge £5 a pie, and they're nowhere near as beautiful as this pie. A big slice like that is worth at least £5.50 in London.
Yeah, me 2. I so much love onions and leeks plus combined with the bechamel and then strong cheese it's some of my favorites tasting stuff. (I would have gone with extra-strong cheese =)
It looks delicious, but I hate it when people call a plate of filling topped with pastry a pie. IMHO a pie should be filling completely enclosed in the pastry...
Braaidude Definition of pie. 1 : a meat dish baked with biscuit or pastry crust - compare potpie. 2 : a dessert consisting of a filling (as of fruit or custard) in a pastry shell or topped with pastry or both.
im sure it's super tasty, but I guess you overpriced it, when you consider price of ingredients. I myself thaught you'd say it's worth 2 or 3. 6 seems a loooooot :O Cool recipie though ;) Cheers!

Best street chef on youtube. Keep grinding all love to you
Never heard of a Cheese & Onion pie! Lovely recipe, you never fail to inspire me! Thanks, chef!
Great recipe, I made it but put it in a pasty with simple short crust pastry, and mashed in some boiled sweet potato to the filling.
Beautiful - almost as good as your chicken pie recipe that I make every week !
Now that's a vegetarian dish everyone would love. No meat needed there. Top job chef

You killed it mate!
Looks delicious! I've got a few potatoes and some savoy cabbage left from the weekend. Do you think they should join the party? 😀
We like veggie produce as well as meat. Well handsome looking pie, was thinking £3.50 4 quid maybe that's being tight for a quality made pie. Do you think this will work for pasties too. I've not seen an onion cut that way before. Thankyou John.

1:33 That is a beautiful knife
Wow,looks amazing, I'd pay no bother 😉
Great recipe, but 6 pounds is indeed over the top. Serve it on the side of a nice braised ham hock and you will have a winner on cold winter days.
@@what-es9jh go suck you nan
At least $6.00 American dollars looks so yummy!
I just need to buy some puff pastry and I'm ready to make it tomorrow. Definitely not gonna make the pastry from scratch lol
Are pies that cheap in the UK? That pie is massive. 1/4 slice of that should go for 6-8 in a restaurant easy even if it is veggie. Street tax taking it's toll.

This was on my birthday :)
beautiful miyabi knife
What would you serve with it buster??? As a side dish??
Greens!
Chips and a lager.
I would've said £4.50 - definitely making this though boss.
Not a scratch on a Sodexo cheese sandwich from the cookhouse horrorbag selection.
I want a slice!!!!!
the bechamel sauce, is that the same thing as Alfredo? Sorry, American viewer here.
Can u make some indian street food?
why dont u show up on my subscription.. my favorite cooking channel :(
I would pay £8 for a slice because it looks mouth watering
Is this what legends eat?
Is it "moreish" or "Moorish"?
Food Busker laying out the puff pastry like he lays out his lady on the Food Busker Bed....Booom!
bit much.... a bit much
Have you ever had any of the MREs?
I thought 5 £ and 50 pence. I was very close. Great pie. Cheers!
Hi,I come from china.Can i ask u one question?
I said straight away £3.50 sorry it looks awesome 👏
The poor guy that had to wash the leeks did not look very happy. I hope you give him some pie later on(and yes I have paused the video to write this).
i love me my union!
2:18 that's one sad looking thyme you got there
I know you were trying to make an easy one, but if you had put the filling in a full pie dough, it would had looked cleaner and probably increased the perceived price. But for a slice that big, I would say £6.00 as well.

i gve 15 and i was surprised they only gve 2-4 ... 😕
I'd pay about...$7 for that. (4.95 British Pound)
I'd do the 6£ if it had some accessories. I'm thinking just a good chunk of toasted bread going with it could raise the price.
Boom! Where my other veggies at?
I'll give them another couple of hours. If they don't turn up I'll eat the pie for myself. ;D I'll share on Twitter when I do!
Chicken parm episode?
Looks good John, but I would’ve gone for £3.50 myself lol
Chin up food busker. Id do 6pound easy
that onion is fkn huge! ... don't get nothing like that here in Oceania
I'd actually be happy to pay the 6 pounds myself. If YOU were selling it to me, haha. And with that I suddenly realize I had forgotten to subscribe so yay here I am :D !

you could also deglaze the pan with a couple tablespoons of water and maybe add 1-2 squeezes of lemonjuice after most of the liquid has reduced/evaporated.
Fruit vinegar or white wine would be nice, maybe even some balsamic vinegar. You could also add some fish to the dish and go for soy sauce.
White wine...
My problem is that I'm too lazy to go out shopping and I have all the other ingredients, just not white vine vinegar.. I'll use the water and 1-2 squeezhes of lemonjuice one.

Questions: 1) Why no puff pastry at the bottom?, 2) Instead of bechamel sauce maybe heavy cream?, 3) Mushrooms could be an extra incredient?
Great dish but 6 pounds was a bit too high indeed. But I'd do a fiver definitely!
I would of happily paid a fiver for that it looked the bollocks. £6 for a veggie pie as you say was a bit much.
3.50
Are these people really in London? Pieminister on Leather lane charge £5 a pie, and they're nowhere near as beautiful as this pie. A big slice like that is worth at least £5.50 in London.
4 quid seem right
6 quid for onions and cheese? Focken hell! A fiver AT MOST
Wow you can tell her wasn't feeling it that day.
3.50/4 at max 6 is a bit overpriced
wtf does moorish mean tho?
fantastic, thanks for answering :)
I’d go 4,-4.50
I'd pay $10 EASY.
Yeah, me 2.
I so much love onions and leeks plus combined with the bechamel and then strong cheese it's some of my favorites tasting stuff.
(I would have gone with extra-strong cheese =)
It took me a while to understand the so moorish part.
how about putting the crust on the bottom? it seems like it would be a better presentation without the filling spilling all over the plate
Hahahaha,“I will have some other victims....
boom #8
Six Pounds for the whole pie sounds more like it.
I agree, pastry should be all around, pie should be hand held food. Lol
Like a balti pie at the football
im sure it's super tasty, but I guess you overpriced it, when you consider price of ingredients. I myself thaught you'd say it's worth 2 or 3. 6 seems a loooooot :O Cool recipie though ;) Cheers!
She didn't care for it lol
