I'm a first time knitter (previous crocheter) and because of your very clear pattern and video I was able to successfully complete a whole mitten as my first ever project! Thank you for filming and posting this :)

Thank you for your excellent lessons. I never thought to knit off the last row, I usually have to hunt for a tapestry needle. Your English is beautiful and the grammer is great. Better than some English speakers. You are a very patient teacher, with enough information for watchers to learn how to make their own Selbu mittens.

Thank you so much for your comment! So happy that the video is helpful. Agree 100% I'm actually from Elverum, where the King said his "no". My grandparents barely made it out of the town center when it was bombed the day after. I grew up listening to them telling stories about their dramatic escapes and everything that happened, so this part of Norwegian history and ww2 history is very much alive to me.

@@bergofnorway Thank you for this most interesting information! My grandmother came over from Norway for a visit when she was 17, unfortunately she was so ill on the ship she never went back. Her Mothers farm was taken over by the Germans and made into a landing strip. My Great Grandmother was allowed to live in her own house. My Mom said my Grandmother would cry when she got letters from her Mother with so much blacked out. My Grandmother was one tough little lady so for her to cry is heartbreaking. We are all very interested in the history in this house. My husband is Danish, came over when he was 9 years old. What a King! Thank you so much for sharing your history. The Norwegians really suffered during that war. Thanks again and keep up your wonderful work! Loved those mittens on the soldier in the movie! If you ever make that pattern please let me know, Mange Tak! Mindy

As an experienced crocheter, but a very new knitter who has only had one knit project under my belt to date, I can't say enough about how amazing it has been to watch you do this. I really struggled with DPNs for finishing off my beanie after moving off of circular needles. You made it less intimidating.

Thank you so much for this very helpful tutorial. I just couldn't figure out how to read and work all the lovely graphs for Selbu mittens, and now using this video I know I can make these mittens. I am going to use your pattern for my first pair, to build my confidence, then I will branch out to other designs. Do not worry about your English - I think because you spoke slowly and clearly I was able to grasp the technique better. Sometimes native English speakers talk so quickly that they are harder to follow and they use complicated terms that confuse. This compliment is coming from a native English speaker!

I just wanted to say thank you for teaching me to knit these mittens! Im in love with your patterns and you are the best knitting teacher out on youtube.
This was the first time i tried 2 colour knitting on 4 knitting needles and you showed everything clearly. The mittens came out beautifully! I made these mittens for my father and he loves them. I thank You with all my heart. I hope i dont disrespect norwegian culture when i knit these patterns tho. (btw your english was perfect!)

I am really happy to hear that the video enabled you to knit the mittens with good result😀 My intention when i made the video was to show not only norwegians, but anyone who wants to knit this style of mittens how it is done. Dont worry, I see it more as honouring Norwegian culture 😊
