I bought this cab a few months ago knowing nothing about it, other than it sounded friggin amazing in the shop with my Ibanez TSA15H head and strat. The combo I have now cost me $500 (the head was used and the cab new) and sounds really great. I recommend this cab highly. That v30 handles heavy american tone, SRV, chimey with my tele, anything.
I have the valve king version of this. Love it so far. Great features, great price. I'm not noticing tube harshness that some complained of. Perhaps the earlier models were shipped with different tubes. Mine has JJ's. I got the optional pedal. The boost function is great for both channels. Virtually eliminates the need for a drive pedal. Can't recommend enough at this point. If you're looking for 20w of tube tone with a real clean channel, these are hard to beat.
I purchased this head hoping I could use the mic simulated DI as most of the stages I play on need to be silent. As an existing Classic 30 owner I already knew it would sound great in an of itselt-and it does- however my testing of the DI yielded unusable tone. I use a lot of Peavey gear because I genuinely like it so I wish this feature would have worked. I used 6 different guitars playing between the crunch and clean channels going out of the MSDI into a Mackie Onyx 1640 (with no eq other then the channels HPF) out to a Peavey PA consisting of stereo SP5G speakers. Just couldn't make it work. Some tones were less worse than others but I wouldn't want to use it live. Again using the amp with the matching 112-C sounds fantastic and the amp is worth every penny that way but if you need a direct to PA solution unfortunately you'll need to look elsewhere IMO. The fact is making a good msdi is hard because I have a Marshall JMP-1 and a 9004 preamp and their DI out isn't very good either. I did find an excellent way to still use the amp on stage silently. Because the amp has it's own dummy load, defeating the speaker let me come out of the fx send to a Mooer Radar speaker cab and power amp sim then 1/4" to the mixer. This produced from usable to great tone in the PA.
I have a Classic 30 and a Class 20. The C20s are known to "break up too early" I use the guitar volume and amp volume to get cleans. I wonder if Peavey "fixed" that common complaint? Sounds like they did. Not addressed in the few reviews that are out there.
The Classic is Fender 'n' Marshall in a box so ya it's different from the 6505. They only had the gain just past 12:oclock on the Classic so it might get pretty heavy too.
+w1third I wouldn't say it SOUNDS BETTER,.. The Classic is Not a Metal/Hard Rock head,Nor,is the 6505MH a Blues,Jazz,Country,or 60's-early 70's Rock Toned amp. Both are meant for Different Genres, although,BOTH can come CLOSE to the Other's tones with some tweaking. BOTH Sound AWESOME to Me : ) . Everyone has their own Tastes in TONE,so,this isn't any disrespect to you,or the Classic, Just my opinion,I had a MINT 90's 50 watt Classic Tweed Combo and 2x12 Extension Cab,I LOVED that Amp,could KICK Myself for selling it,It could handle about ANYTHING I THREW at It,I needed the $,otherwise it would STILL be here.
+thehoppo Like they say,Great Minds think alike :P ...LOL! I had a Classic 50 Combo, and a MATCHING TWEED 2x12 Ext cab,..I could KICK MYSELF IN My REAR END for ever Selling it ! I re-tubed it,and it would either have a BEAUTIFUL WARM Clean Tone,OR,a 70's-80's Hard Rock Tone. Man,the Classic with the RIGHT TUBES,a Little Tweaking,MAYBE a Tube Screamer in Front,is ALL you'd ever need for EVERYTHING You could think of besides DEATH METAL,Or DJENT Style Chugging. I'm VERY TEMPTED to get the Classic MH : ). Peavey Still is One of THE BEST AMPS IMO . OH YEAH,HAPPY TURKEY DAY TH !
I own a Classic 100 Head, Classic 30 Head (modified), Classic 30 Combo (modified). I've been looking for an old classic 20 to turn into a head and now I bumped into this. I'm probably going to wait a year before purchasing just to see if there's any technical issues that come along. The input jack looks like it's plastic. That has me a bit concerned. No longer made in the USA, that has me a bit concerned. It's very possible I'll be purchasing one of these in a year from now.
Sounds like a nice little amp but come on Peavey, all amps should come with the footswitch ;-) Getting like Orange, you spend $2200 and then have to spend $40 for a dang footswitch. LOL
well, if we're talking about orange, one could even point out that it's pretty ridiculous that they take the effort to make *two* channel amps only for 1000€ and up
Really cool video! I have a question can just the Mini Head guitar amplifier be used? And can it be used with Headphones? Does it have a headphone jack?
Hi +Angel Martinez. It does indeed have a headphones output. You can get all of the details on this amp here: www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Class20MiniH
What's the difference between this and the Peavey Valveking? That is also a 20w/5w/1w minihead and seems to have all the same functionality as far as buttons, inputs, etc. I realize one is tweed and one is black, but there must be something else that's different otherwise they would just call it the Valveking Tweed or something.
+Atacama Humanoid The circuit in the amp is pretty different. They don't really sound alike at all, the Classic sounds like a fender tweedy sort of thing (bassman-y) while the VK actually pretty unique, but sounds closest to an early Mesa/Boogie imo. The valveking is intended to be more versatile (I own a 50watt VK2, and it is pretty good for that), while the Classic is intended to champion the tweedy tone. Just because amps have the same features doesn't mean they are at all alike. The Mesa Mk. 5 25 has a lot of these features, but is an entirely different amp. The circuit itself is what's really important.
You just kind of wish that someone in the third world could wire together a hand wired version (or something similar) of this that was one channel and with a high and low switch on wattage. I had one of these heads. It was a good head. The complication for a head that I got getting half price (paid $300 from a local store pretending that their last two new ones were used so they could just finally get rid of them) leads me to be a little concerned about longevity long term. I've already got two hobby amps that were overcomplicated - tube with lots of gingerbread. I call them hobby amps because they seem to be a separate hobby to keep working properly.
It does get a nice breakup - probably what you'd call medium gain when pegged. It's a good combination of preamp and poweramp grind. The cool thing is that you can then use the wattage switch in back to bring the overall level down.
Self explanatory, but what he means is it's a digital (algorithmic) reverb that is voiced to behave like that of the usual spring reverb tanks that you find in this series of amps. (assuming you don't know) check out Dick Dale's tracks and THAT is the epitome of spring reverb. My guess for the chip in place of the real thing is to ether cut costs or possibly due to the amps size, spring reverb tanks would up the size of the amp pretty quickly.
Very helpful demo, and great amp, ...but guys, the fake "infomercial" style demos are so old hat, you gotta act normal, natural and keep it unscripted or it's really unconvincing, seems false unconvincing. It's a great sounding amp though, that alone sells it pretty well.
1:57 man I really like the chime
Other dude: Cool thanks
Idk why but this video gives me so much 2nd hand embarrassment lol.
🤣🤣🤣
It’s like when someone says “I love you.........”
Reply: “Awwww...nice”
he is sales manager from peavey it says in the beginning thats why

rcoveyduc I've got the valve king head as well man. great cleans and the 1 watt mode let's u crank the drive channel at low volumes
these are alot of fun to play! simple and straight forward to work. just stinks that they are expensive.
so this would be good for a gig?
Very nice head! Great job to the both of you. Well done.
I purchased this head hoping I could use the mic simulated DI as most of the stages I play on need to be silent. I found the same with the 6505mh
played at a life gig and was amazed. prefer it to my bigger engl and fender amps ...

Jaime Gonzalez I hope so!
Not sure if that head is the same as the little classic 20 combo?
Sounds great. Love the features.
***** That sounds really sweet that little amp. Nice and small to lug to a gig too. :-)
Cute! Whats different from the ValveKing tho? the VK has USB too.. In fact it looks like a VK... in tweed :-)
I'll be seeing this guy at Gearfest this year. He will be one of the guests👍
***** Seems to sound a bit better than the Valve King & the 6505..More natural & less fizzy..Not crazy about the Tweed though...
WFKTHETHIRD Time to get out a can of flat black spray paint!
Sounds better than the mini 6505, May not be extreme, but has nice gain

I like this one better in the gain department than the Mini 6505
Any plans to let us hear the Mic Simulated Direct Out?
I own a Classic 100 Head, Classic 30 Head (modified), Classic 30 Combo (modified). I've been looking for an old classic 20 to turn into a head and now I bumped into this. wow this sound way better than my rage 158
the footswitch isn't included? lol

It DOES come with a footswitch! But it's PLASTIC! Not too impressed with that!
It like under five bills? Not big money but reasonable I’d say!
how does it go against the fender blues Jr?
Really cool video! I have a question can just the Mini Head guitar amplifier be used? And can it be used with Headphones? Does it have a headphone jack?
Hi +Angel Martinez. It does indeed have a headphones output. You can get all of the details on this amp here: www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Class20MiniH
+SweetwaterSound Hi do I need teo your a cabinet or can I use just the head?
+Angel Martinez You can just use the head,as LONG as you make sure the "SPEAKER DEFEAT " Button is Depressed ( ON )
What happens if the speaker defeat button isn't on?
Boom Boom the amp transformer could die.

I think one is voiced for blues and the other rock
@@mascotquellson9906 valve king is supposed to sound like shit,it does
what speaker was the mic used on the v30 or g12
I received a foot switch with my UK model.
Love my Classic 20 MH, except when running a 4 cable set up with my Line 6 HD 500HD. I lose all tonal adjustments on the amp :(
That's to be expected!
The footswitch is included..
Did he say footswitch not included?
Yes, he did.
Can you get this in blonde tolex?
Can you us the MSDI plugged into a pa desk ,and still have your cab enabled ?.
no
A Classic 30 was my bread 'n' butter guitar amp till I figured out how to do guitar, bass and steel all out of one amp.
stubhead What you end up with for that? Quilter?
what cab do you use in this video?
sounds great !
thanks
Lol
Need to hear the USB and XLR outputs.
That's a lot of amp for $500.
6:44 good point
What speakers are in those?

Wangs amps are Asian hand wired, somewhat budget friendly.
It's kinda lame that you can only access the boost with a footswitch that is not included.
what does channel one sound like on 10? Does it break up nicely?
It does get a nice breakup - probably what you'd call medium gain when pegged. It's a good combination of preamp and poweramp grind. The cool thing is that you can then use the wattage switch in back to bring the overall level down.
love it :)
Spring chip???

Peavey! Your not helping! Every time I figure out which Classic I'm buying, you offer a new choice I may get this and use a closed back 1x10 cab
At 4:57 does this also mean that the output comes from the tubes??? If it does not, then it is worthless
The XLR and USB outputs are tapped between the poweramp and speaker, so yes.
Beauty small amp.'
About 20 years late here..
Where is this made?
+fyrcrack1 China,BUT,It's BUILT LIKE A TANK,Never had a Problem Yet after 5 months !
Very helpful demo, and great amp, ...but guys, the fake "infomercial" style demos are so old hat, you gotta act normal, natural and keep it unscripted or it's really unconvincing, seems false unconvincing.
It's a great sounding amp though, that alone sells it pretty well.
The fake salesman pitch is kind of an outdated video style here on UA-cam I think.
it was made five years ago. but I was thinking the same thing :)
What about now?
This is such a rigid exchange its uncomfortable
Footswitch not included with this made in china amp. Oh and lead free solder sucks.
