Just made this with lots of bacon!I also added onions, mushrooms, and garlic powder. Had this with steamed/pan fried fresh keilbasa. Delish! Thanks for sharing such a simple and tasty dish!
Margot Brown You are very welcome! My sister fried some cabbage with peppered bacon, but had onions. We plan on making our cabbage with colorful bell peppers and smoked sausages with patatoes. So there are many different things you can do with fried cabbage! I love watching different ones fix their own cabbage to be creative!
Cabbage is truly a great delight! We've made unstuffed cabbage rolls, caldo de res, southern fried cabbage with sausage, my sister's recipe with chicken, and a colcannon. My sister is going to make a cabbage and ham bone soup, and after her, I am going to make a cabbage stew with potatoes and the sausage! Great that you used bacon, and kept the grease from it! Your presentation is very wonderful! Just know that cabbage in a great favorite and a delight in our home!
Margot, I tried this recipe today. Excellent recipe. I also have to comment the greeting you gave at the end of the video to your watchers was pleasant
Yumm! I will be making another version of this tonight called Haluski and I too like the chile pepper flavor which will be in the Hatch chile sausage. Something about the sausage and cabbage effect?!
@Margot Do you like pierogies? I'd try those first. I make my own, but Mrs. T's brand frozen pierogies are excellent and available at most grocers. If not, by all means, go for the potatoes. 😊
R. McBride actually I've never tried, but am now very interested. Do you have a recipe you could share?! I'll also jeep an eye out at my grocery store- HEB!
@Margot They should have them at HEB. That's where my brother buys his. Just boil a pot of salted water and toss them in. When they float to the top, they are done. It only takes a minute or so, so don't over cook. Drain. I usually saute a minced onion in butter and pop the cooked pierogies into the skillet to quickly brown on both sides, but you can also just put the onion/butter mix over the top and serve. Salt and pepper to taste. Some people add chopped parsley and/or chopped crisp bacon as toppings. Mrs. T's has quite a number of filling flavors. Ours is Potato/Cheddar. Suggest you start there and, if you like them, experiment with the others. Warning: They also make great cold snacks (particularly for menfolk), so keep that in mind when deciding how many boxes you are going to fix. LOL! Enjoy! Let me know how you guys like them. 😊
After Browning my Bacon, Onions , Garlic, I transfer it to my slow Cooker & make the Rest of the meal in it, Comes out great also Thanks for sharing your Great Recipe etc.
Great Video! Just an FYI, that if you cut the bottom of the cabbage (the white, hard core part) off you can grow a whole new cabbage from that section, if you plant it in your greenhouse. I always cut the bottom, or core part out (as it wont be missed), when I make Golumpki/stuffed cabbage, or kielbasa and cabbage, and it will generally (almost every time) grow you a new head or two of cabbage. They sprout very easily.. At least it has for me :) They would always grow in my hen house or compost pile on their own, so I clewed in ;) Anywho, keep up the great work!!!
I know this would be delicious 😋 but I would have also added onions with the bacon to brown a little bit and then continued on with your recipe. I agree with you that the kielbasa tastes great when browned. So much more flavor! Thanks for reminding me of a dish I haven't made in awhile. Keep up the good work 👍
I make this but I add noodles to it as well, special Pennsylvania Dutch noodles. I don't use bacon and I like heat but I don't like the flavor of jalapeno so I add some gochugaru Korean hot pepper flakes.
Margot Brown oh we really loved it. I could have made it carb free but as it was It was kind of low carb. If you ever do want to use noodles the type of noodle I use is called a kluski noodle it's pretty close to a homemade noodle. Have a great night and an even better tomorrow :-)
Hello! I don't see why not, I would just make sure that what ever it is blended with (because I think curry comes with several herbs blended together) there wouldn't be anything in there that would seem out of place. Honestly some of my favorite spices to use for heat are red pepper flakes and cayenne pepper!
I sorry your video in my video manager under videos suggesting my video. a lot of the videos nextev this video are mine, so I thought I would come here to watch and you are an amazing cook!
Very nice straight forward video! A. How many servings does your recipe yield? B. Is this good as left overs or should it be eaten all same day? Thanks your the recipe!
falcon262 thank you for your comment! I would say this yields about 5-6 servings- especially if you use the entire head of cabbage and all 6 links of sausage. This definitely tastes best the day of cooking as everything is served hot and fresh. You could serve for leftovers, however I think it would taste best the day of!😊
can you leave the ingredients in the description? It makes it much easier. This looks really delicious! It reminds me of my mom's fried cabbage. what is the cook time on this?
Hi, yes I'm sorry about that! I will list of the ingredients in the description box. It is delicious...have you made it yet? When I cook the cabbage mixtures...I let it go for about 15-20 minutes on low, till it was tender. Also, don't cook too high b/c you don't want it to burn!
I Save My Bacon Grease, For when I am making my Fried Cabbage dish, Puts the Great flavor into it also, I know it's not the Healthy, But I only use the Grease for that Recipe only etc.
Just made this with lots of bacon!I also added onions, mushrooms, and garlic powder.

The way you fix your fried cabbage with your peppered bacon and your green spices is that simple and DELICIOUS!
Denise Cooper thank you I appreciate that! Have you had this meal before? There's a lot of variations but this is our favorite way. It is delicious!
Margot Brown

A favorite meal in our house. For a husband and two growing boys, I like to add pierogies or parsley potatoes to the menu. 😊

this is on my list for next week. will fresh minced garlic and/or an onion in the bacon be a good idea?
Absolutely! Garlic will give it some good extra flavor, onion and bacon always go perfect together!
that looks delicious, can i eat this with potatoes or rice? or what is your suggestion?
Good stuff!!
CAN I ADD CURRY OR DO YOU KNOW OF A BETTER HOT SPICE? THANK YOU.

All southern cooks have a jar of bacon grease in fridge or in freezer - very handy

You should put potatoes and andui sausages, little butter and Italian Season, so good
Good idea next time I will!
Isn´t kielbasa sausage?
i gonna fix this dish up
Great stuff-- production tip, talk to the camera like its one person only instead of "everyone/ all you guys etc" -- TV is a personal medium ;)
SHE CAN COOK FOR ME ANYTIME
👍🏽👍🏽
Deerishess!
Oh my God!... All I’m gonna say!...
She cooks and is pretty. Marry meeee
Nat Serrano why thank you!
Margot Brown nevermind I just saw you have a ring already. But if you ever get divorced give me a call
That’s it? That’s all that is? Ok...
Yes...simple recipes are some of the best.
kiełbasa in Polish means sausage. So Kiełbasa Sausage is a pleonasm and makes no sense.
Predator I need u here if u wants
eww. your grease to cabbage ratio means you're plating slime. yikes!
