      Fun combo to save your tank but only suitable if you cannot break the concentration of whoever's cast heat metal and basically you have your Rogue remove the plate armor and then re-equipped them with a nonmetal armor if available. To my understanding there is no rule against that a rogue if sufficiently skilled enough can straight up remove your armor while just talking so I imagine using it as a bonus action or even just a main action to save one of the members would be suitable and then re-equipping them well armor is easier to get back into with health so

      Life Cleric / Druid is also great - 1 level in life cleric gets you 2+spell level to healing spells. with 16 wis, that's a level 1 Healing Word which heals for d4+6 as a bonus action. At level 2 pick up druid and you've got 10 goodberries per level 1 spell slot, each healing a flat 4 hp. that's 40 hp per day, for a single level 1 spell slot!

    I was playing a druid in a campaign and the party got on an airship. We got attacked by an army of flying monsters (the DM intended for it to be an overwhelming force and we were supposed to use our actions to activate a teleportation device to escape). I cast control winds to create a downdraft that knocks flying creatures prone and wiped out more than half the army in a single turn. Druids are overpowered.

      its worthless, with a level 3 spell slot you could cast healing spirit instead, which restores 2d6 per turn, no action required except for the 1 bonus action to cast it and doesn't need to be near you, yes aura of vitality lasts up to a minute so it can heal up to 20d6 compared to the 10d6 of healing spirit (assuming an 18 to wisdom by level 5), but you need to hold concentration for a full minute to do this and since it is centered on you you either need to be in the thick of battle with an aura range of 30 feet (30 feet is equal to or less than the move speed of virtually every thing, and if it becomes clear that you are healing your allies up from unconscious every bad guy is attacking you and you are getting squished and dropping concentration) while heal spirit has a range of 60 feet and you can move it 30 feet as a bonus action, or only use it on yourself, in which case it is still not worth it because it burns your concentration, instead of slamming down spike growth or windwall or one of those damage based concentration spells like moonbeam, heat metal, flaming sphere or conjure animals and you are burning 1 action and 10 bonus actions for this healing, with spells like heat metal and flaming sphere druid does not want to be burning concentration and bonus action on healing. Also healing spirit is capped to the number of times it can heal, there is no per turn limit, with 4 allies plus yourself it is basically 1 bonus action to give 2d6 health to every party member over the course of 1 round, you only need to hold 1 round of concentration, using something like shield (from multiclassing or a feat) or absorb elements coupled with war caster can get that easily and then with every ally back up you can go back to battlefield control. Aura of vitality may have a post combat use in healing after a fight but even then, I think I would rather burn a couple of level 1 spell slots on goodberry to heal allies rather than one of my precious level 3 spell slots. Also healing spirit scales, with a level 4 spell slot and 20 wisdom it is now 18d6 with 1 bonus action over the course of 2 rounds.

      I am/was (DM incapacitated, long story) running a Firbolg Moon Druid with 1 point in Monk for the defense buff. Soooo worth it to have my wildshape AC be the same or higher than my normal AC. Plus I took Alert early (for the +1 Wis bump) so my Perception is just nuts. Sadly, my DM HATES IT when I summon my 8 wolves to harry the enemy, lol. Hates it with a fiery passion. But hey, until he bans it entirely, it's a great distraction and flanking tool. Had never considered the flying owls though. This video is hopefully going to be a huge help. One thing though: Can you do one for Ranger? (If you haven't already, I haven't checked) My older brother is convinced that Cleric, Wizard, Fighter, and Rogue are the only classes in the game ever worth playing, and refuses to see just how powerful each and every class can really be. Great video that I needed! I'm currently playing a Lvl 8 Circle of Shepherd Druid and it's amazing! The bear spirit totem for temp hp and advantage on STR or Unicorn for nice heals. And between the often overlooked Plant Growth to slow down the baddies, you're certainly a battlefield god. If your DM lets you pick the conjures, it's even more broken... I put most everything into getting the highest initiative so I can set up the battlefield and then retreat to a safe distance, exactly as you describe. And forget it... the utility is beyond amazing. The high Perception score really helps, too.

      Or you can go Star Druid and in Chalice form, any spell slot used to heal also heals you or another creature with in 30 ft for 1d8 + Wis (2d8 at 10th). PLUS you can activate any form as a bonus action (at 10th level, at beginning of turn so bonus action still free), so if you are tanking in Dragon and someone goes down, bonus shift to Chalice and heal 2 creatures.
      You'd really have a hard time making a cleric that can compete with that!

    There are like a hundred fun ways to play druid, especially with a few dips. Rogue+druid gives you crazy whirlwind animal and elemental speed, perceptions to make any rogue cry. Warlock+druid gets you telepathy and extra slots and darkness vision, plus a ton of cantrips or awesome fae familiars.
    Druids have been my favorite class since 1st edition. 5th is different, but still about as much fun as you can have. You can pick your role in almost any fight, be the solution to most non-combat problems.

    I prefer a dip in monk instead of Barbarian in I am not playing a moon druid. It is Dex/wisdom for unarmored AC and an additional 10 movement as well as the Ki skills with a two level dip…. Sometimes I will do a three level dip for a sub class that works well with the druid sub class.

    • @asheronwindspear552
      @asheronwindspear552 Рік тому +1

      Plus unarmoured Defence is a class feature, and unlike polymorph wildshape doesn't remove class features and only affects your physical abilities. So a high WIS druid gets a higher AC while in wildshaped.

    • @syvajarvi2289
      @syvajarvi2289 Рік тому +1

      @@asheronwindspear552 Exactly, now that being said…. Feats can be created to mimic unarmored defense. I have made a few that mimic the Monk and Barb skills, including any resistances but I limit them to a minimum of lvl 4. I made one based on Int for a PC who was playing a blade singer who took a dip in fighter. While his HP was not high, he was a tank when it came to his AC. I built feat trees around my home brew feats, some feats are practical while others are for flavor or skills that fit the character’s background.
      A lvl 1 feat I created called Ravings of a mad man’s next step is unarmored defense based on the monk skill. Next in the tree is taking tavern brawler, after that there are a few options that a player can take that makes them a monk/non-monk without changing class. It works for my table because feats have to be learned and choices justified.

    • @syvajarvi2289
      @syvajarvi2289 Рік тому

      At my table and the table I play at we use feats at the start in session zero to flesh out the character, usually two at the start sometimes three. Skilled is a freebie, then a “class” based, and then a “background” feat that is skills and/or language based but I have had players skip the free skilled feat to take the background feat and save the freebie for later as the character develops with the party. There was a fighter battle master in the party with the blade singer that wanted to learn the blade song (magic initiate feat) so the freebie feat was used for that at level 6 without the fighter taking a level in wizard, as payment the blade singer learned the martial adept feat and could choose two of the techniques the battle master had as payment. It makes for interesting roll play and team building.
      The most common examples of low level feats in session zero I like to talk about are Sticky fingers and Ravings.
      Sticky fingers gives Thieves cant, a skill proficiency, and a tool proficiency, ravings is half proficiency in performance, deception, and intimidation.

    Wild shape with perception can also have some pretty fun shenanigans with keen senses, if you pick up skill expert to always have expertise, observant for the additional plus 5 and then wild shape into a giant vulture then at levels 17+ you can have a passive perception of 37 for sight and smell without any magic items boosting it, that means that (again not accounting for magic items) if your rogue with 20 dex and expertise in stealth rolls a nat 20 on stealth they still can't hide from you unless they get a boost from spells like guidance
