The 296 is a car that actually needs to spool its turbos, and below 5k, nothing is there. And the busy chassis? What is that about? It is good in its AF version, but in the normal non-AF version, it does not work at all as it lacks feeling as a supercar. Well....I wonder what is going to make room for a 296 in Harry's garage?! I'm coming around to the looks. The overall shape is utterly gorgeous, but the front and rear end treatments looked at bit weird to me, but I think it is just because it's so new. Seeing it in some of the low sunlight in these shots really make it look heart achingly gorgeous.
Harry you are quite the diplomat as that spec is a true horror movie. That said, a properly specced one of these should be glorious. I've always preferred engines with cylinders in multiples of 3s.... even a 3 cylinder motorcycle engine has layers and harmonics that go well beyond the monotone wail of most I4s. So this "downgrade" is actually an upgrade IMO.
Yeah I never thought V8s were any more noble than sixes. to me they are equivalent in terms of cachet. Nobody complains about six cylinders in 911’s for example, because they do the job and sound good. It really doesn’t matter to me what size engine it is as long as it sounds good and produces enough power for its weight.
I watched the review of the McLaren Artura and you were so positive. This car, however, is infinitely better looking and sexier, and the sound is glorious! It does cost a lot more, but as you suggest don't tick some of the big money options which make the car less tolerant of the B roads anyway. If I had the $ I'd be at the Ferrari dealer when it opens in the morning.
Thanks for my Sunday fix Harry, what a machine! You were struggling to get the words out a few times...we could all feel the power. Total licence taker, best for fun on a track by the looks of it. Even with the nod to the racing history at the beginning of the video the colours don't work for me, there must have been a more subtle classier way 🙈. keep those videos coming Harry 👍
@@TheChannel1978 i wouldnt order the track option to begin with and wouldnt want to live with such bold colors on the interior and get bored with it if i had a choice but it still wasn’t ott in the interior in my opinion.
I would own this Ferrari just for the odd paint job. "Eww ,I hate that blue." "Yes, yes you do." Just a gorgeous roadrace car. Ferrari has a passion in everything they make. God forbid I ever get the money to buy one. I will be addicted.
10 k views in under 1 hour, you’re smashing it Harry 👍 . I was lucky enough to go to the launch of this car at my local dealership, when they unveiled it though it was yellow!! Gotta be all red all day long for me.
Hey Harry tell us more about that red f50 in your garage it would be interesting for the spectators to.learn a bit more about it i'm pretty sure about that.
I'd love one of these in absolute base model spec.... No carbon, no frills, just a bog standard 296 in a tasteful colour on standard wheels. I'd imagine it would be a brilliant car.
Theres a touch of Testarossa in the rear, which I love. Over 800Bhp is a lot through the back tyres. Once cars get really powerful I think 4WD is essential for the none racing drivers among us.
Glad to see you have the Honda S2000 Dashboard optionally with, almost, the correct amount of revs ;-)! And yes before anyone corrects me, i know the old S2000 dash itself was inspired by the F1 dashes of the late 90s so probably where Ferrari link it back to proper. Just poking fun
Thanks Harry, i am not convinced by the steering wheel or the electric steering feel. It all seems a little busy but i like it more the the SF 90. Cheers
Yup. Same here. F430 and 599 were the last great Ferraris for me. 458 had an awkward seating position, terribly overboosted steering (same with the F12), and was more of a lateral step (or even step backward) rather than a step forward. The numbers continue increasing, but I'm not sure of the driving experience has ever really improved.
Proportions and back end remind of 355 era and that’s no bad thing …paint can be changed so not an issue …great performance ….oh and I’m not the first to note F40 has grown into F50 …..😉
Love the 60's flavor with this car. The livery reminds me of Richard Petty's period racing schemes and works so well because the design itself has such a timeless, classic purity. The shape harkens to yester year without coming across as "retro" or contrived. And that cockpit! I usually hate shouty high contrast interiors but there's something about the detail work in this spec that has me totally smitten!
I have the F430, arguably one of the more boring Ferrari V-8 exhaust notes, but I think this new V-6 sounds better than most of the Ferrari V-8s and absolutely better than the F430.
What a glorious thing! I genuinely think it's the prettiest Ferrari since 355. Pure elegance, and in standard form, not an extra design line to be found. I think this car, low spec in a dark blue, or silver, with silver wheels will be the one to have for general use.
I love Harry's videos because of the profile scenes when he nails it, and the revs increase, and the background starts to go flashing by. This was good . The SF 90 was better, because he looked liked he was being shoot out of a cannon. The Countach is still my favorite.
I think it's one of the best looking and sounding Ferrari's ever. The livery is not very subtle, but I got used to it during the vid. A more subtle striping would be preferable, and of course red with red and red. But it's great they honour the Maranello Consessionaires. So in short; What a car.
It’s good to finally see this in the road. I went to the launch at my local dealer. Wouldn’t the car look better with small round rear lights? Like the original Dino? I have loved Ferrari since I was a child, but my favourite cars all have the round rear tail lights. If the Prancing horse badge wasn’t in this car I don’t think you would tell that it was a Ferrari. Just my humble opinion. The engine sounds pretty awesome though which is a nice surprise! I still prefer the F8 Tributo, F355, 308 GTB, 288 GTO etc for styling. The 296 looks a lot more coherent than the SF90. But everyone makes their own choices.. great video again from Harry!
Hi Harry another great video! Two quick questions 1) does the 296 feel different to the F8, if so how does it compare from a handling perspective, steering and does it feel as light as an F8? 2) I was curious if you could weigh this car, with the electric motor and all the new tech Ferrari claims I think around 1470kg dry weight - it would be nice to know what it actually weighs with fluids. Love this car especially in GTS trim. Thanks for doing what you do!
"reminds me of the Stratos".... That was lingering in my mind at the start of seeing this car, then you said it!. Bravo!. Great that you enjoyed this car profoundly, it seems.
You know I was just about to say these modern supercars are not very interesting and I wish Harry would do more stories of the old timers. Then I noticed your comment and got happy. I'm sure he'll do an episode of it.
It was the first of Harry’s vids that I almost didn’t watch past the first minute…until I switched over to Black & White! Nauseating color combo. Paint that Pony!
When I first saw the 296, I thought, “gee, such a nice car … how will Ferrari make that look ugly?” I needn’t have worried. 😢 I was going to buy a Corolla, but instead I think I’ll have just that stripe. 😂
Great video Harry love the car styling but the colours no thank you 😂 for some reason the back-end reminds me of a Chevrolet Camaro 😂 I must be mad 🙄🙄😂
Like so many have said previously the blue was a mistake. Just because is was done in the past doesn't mean it should ever be repeated and how can a stripe be woth more that TWO concourse- level complete paint jobs?! That said a yellow or silver panel in the front and rear could be an option to personalize an all red car. Lovely job from Maranello, hop this signifies the end of the busy/fussy design era.
Really fine photograpy and sound engineering on the road with a blend of autumn colors and the red and blue of the car. In the garage I thought that the red/baby blue combination was awful but on the road it was muito bonito at 200 kph. If they gave out awards for car reviews, that one is right up there. Well done.
Another fab video Harry. Think you're bang on with your Stratos visual comparison. Looking forward to seeing your Alfa back on the road and the big smile on your face when you get behind the wheel! 😊
Thanks Uncle Harry for this review of the 296 GTB. Stunning performance from a V6- sounds terrific. The color combo- think I'll have to take a pass on however- fugly imo. Price with the options is stunning as well. But your smile while driving it is one of pure joy. Adulterous bliss. This on Route Napoleon is just 2nd or 3rd gear blips howling away would be magical. I wonder if Ferrari will ever make an open air- panel roof off version in the future?
I'm sure that this car is nothing short of incredible for normal folks like me. The color spec I wish that I could ignore and I really wish that I could ignore the early 90's Chevy Camaro headlight and front design proportions. I really like the depth of the door exteriors and the seats look sweet. I'll have to go into their configurator and build something more to my liking to better appreciate the 296 GTB. As always, a great presentation by Harry.
That blue reminded me of the protective film they put on new cars when transporting them. I didn’t think the car could look any worse until you showed us the interior and they’d ruined that too, absolutely horrendous but as always I enjoyed the video
Ahhhh, I was passed by one of these in the same colour, probably the same car near RWB in the lanes to Swindon, good to see it in a bit more detail here as was blink and i missed it :-). Great video, catching up as missed a few.
"Modern Performance Cars - crazy things!" 😄 Even the faffing about with the steering wheel controls made me smile, fantastic review on an epic car, Jesus! I look forward to your videos and thank you 👏🏻
Aesthetically the blue on red paint scheme looks.. to put it politely, a bit of a fail. Fact: I will never be able to afford such a car. Nether the less, i love watching videos on super cars here on UA-cam, and love it on the rare occasions i get to see a super car in person out in the wild ^_^ When it comes to Ferrari, the models i have seen in person include the Testarossa, F40, Enzo, 288 GTO (it might have been a 308 GTB), 458 Italia, F355, 348, 400, GT4, Mondial, 360 ^_^ My favourite Ferrari of all time is the F50, which i have yet to spot one on the road. If i ever come into a lot of money, a Ferrari F50 will be added to the garage ^_^ I have invested in ADA Cardano which i like to believe just might end up becoming the largest bloackchain of them all.
Even with the nod to the racing history at the beginning of the video the colours don't work for me, there must have been a more subtle classier way 🙈. keep those videos coming Harry 👍
yeah i think less blue on the nose and normal wheels would have been a better balance...i like the interior in blue though
@@AlbertManiscalco Disagree on the blue interior, it's just as garish as the exterior colors. But to each their own.
@@TheChannel1978 i wouldnt order the track option to begin with and wouldnt want to live with such bold colors on the interior and get bored with it if i had a choice but it still wasn’t ott in the interior in my opinion.
Harry… ive been hanging for this review. It didnt disappoint. This is my fave channel by far.
I would own this Ferrari just for the odd paint job.
"Eww ,I hate that blue."
"Yes, yes you do."
Just a gorgeous roadrace car.
Ferrari has a passion in everything they make.
God forbid I ever get the money to buy one.
I will be addicted.
I have to say, after rewatching this review eight months later! I like the color configuration! I must be the only one in the comments😂
10 k views in under 1 hour, you’re smashing it Harry 👍 . I was lucky enough to go to the launch of this car at my local dealership, when they unveiled it though it was yellow!! Gotta be all red all day long for me.
I'll take the yellow it's Modena's racing colour
I love how you find such delight in this Fezza. So engaging to watch pure joy in your review 👍
Testarossa IS iconic. This NOT. FUGLY.
Harry Metcalfe is like the Sir David Attenborough of car journalism, I could watch/listen to him all day. Brillient
Getting more like Scalextric each year; Madness
Such a pleasure to listen to you Harry. I believe that you could make a Yugo review interesting!
LOVING the extras always enjoy you highlighting them, cheers for the video Harry.
One of your best reviews, enjoyed being a passenger with you.
Proportions and back end remind of 355 era and that’s no bad thing …paint can be changed so not an issue …great performance ….oh and I’m not the first to note F40 has grown into F50 …..😉
Wow, a fantastic video about a super car explained in a splendid manner by a perfect gentle car enthusiast. Marvellous, thank you Harry.
Yeah, those curves. Gina Lolabrigita, Sophia Loren etc. A stunningly beautiful Ferrari. Thanks Harry.
Harry your clips are a joy. Thanks
I love the look of this Ferrari way more than the sf90. It would be so cool if they made it with the Ferrari v8
Agreed. It's very tastefully retro. A bit similar to a stratos?
@@mateuszQRDL agreed, very much like a stratos meets the alpine
I have the F430, arguably one of the more boring Ferrari V-8 exhaust notes, but I think this new V-6 sounds better than most of the Ferrari V-8s and absolutely better than the F430.
What a glorious thing! I genuinely think it's the prettiest Ferrari since 355. Pure elegance, and in standard form, not an extra design line to be found. I think this car, low spec in a dark blue, or silver, with silver wheels will be the one to have for general use.
Harry, the 296 is ok but we really want to see the F50 please.
I love Harry's videos because of the profile scenes when he nails it, and the revs increase, and the background starts to go flashing by. This was good . The SF 90 was better, because he looked liked he was being shoot out of a cannon. The Countach is still my favorite.
You're a brave man Harry. I wouldn't be seen dead in a car with that colour scheme :-)
Why not? Better than all the dull greys/blacks or God-forbid white.
@@EvoraGT430 it’s absolutely unequivocally not at all
@@EvoraGT430 You won't be a fan of Harry's new Emira then ;-)
The most beautiful and homogeneous looking Ferrari in the lineup right now. Another great video, and the right verdict. Thanks Harry.
The styling is not to my liking, but I respect everything else about this car.
Harry thanks for yet another great video. But please make a video about the elephant in the room... that F50 in the back 🙏:)
Usually the rule for Ferrari's and dry weights is to add around 150kg.
"reminds me of the Stratos".... That was lingering in my mind at the start of seeing this car, then you said it!. Bravo!. Great that you enjoyed this car profoundly, it seems.
F50 in the back. Hope there is an episode on that
You know I was just about to say these modern supercars are not very interesting and I wish Harry would do more stories of the old timers. Then I noticed your comment and got happy. I'm sure he'll do an episode of it.
Thanks Harry,I've been waiting for a decent comparison between these two Ferrari's!
I quite like that. Plus, if you take it racing you can be damned sure no one else will pinch the colour scheme.
I was going to buy a Corolla, but instead I think I’ll have just that stripe. 😂
they also took Ferrari out of Stellantis more likely to avoid paying taxes on these overpriced cars
A fan i am of the channel, great insights, honest and unbiased opinions, keeps me watching...
Great video Harry
love the car styling but the colours no thank you 😂 for some reason the back-end reminds me of a Chevrolet Camaro 😂 I must be mad 🙄🙄😂
This and the MC20 are superb
The colours on that very expensive car remind me of the expression, ‘you can’t buy good taste’ 🤣
The cabin bubble and 'Stratos' glass actually gives me Enzo vibes too - wasn't sure initially but loved it now.
Those colours are gorgeous. Very original. Two fingers to a grey world
This is absorlutely one of the brillent car I have seen, if only - thank you for sharing this awesome review Harry
Great video and lovely car save the colors chosen....
@2:28 What the hell is a 'Pacific' engine?😂
Thank you Harry for the best presentation of the 296 GTB! The package provided by Ferrari is outstanding!
I love the colours! So much more interesting than 99% of other ferrari specs out there, and I genuinely think it looks nice :)
Really fine photograpy and sound engineering on the road with a blend of autumn colors and the red and blue of the car. In the garage I thought that the red/baby blue combination was awful but on the road it was muito bonito at 200 kph. If they gave out awards for car reviews, that one is right up there. Well done.
Looks to me like a mix between a GT40 and a Lancia Stratos
Another fab video Harry. Think you're bang on with your Stratos visual comparison. Looking forward to seeing your Alfa back on the road and the big smile on your face when you get behind the wheel! 😊
Spider man edition lol
Thanks Uncle Harry for this review of the 296 GTB. Stunning performance from a V6- sounds terrific.
The color combo- think I'll have to take a pass on however- fugly imo.
Price with the options is stunning as well. But your smile while driving it is one of pure joy. Adulterous bliss.
This on Route Napoleon is just 2nd or 3rd gear blips howling away would be magical.
I wonder if Ferrari will ever make an open air- panel roof off version in the future?
Good lord that blue livery and seats are hilariously bad, looks like a clowns car
It's actually embarrassing
As always....superb review, like reading an article in EVO but better!!
Brrr terrible colors scheme!!
As always, a great presentation by Harry.
excellent vid. seems to be the only one that actually details the interior. the rest just faf about showing off on tracks.
"Modern Performance Cars - crazy things!" 😄
Even the faffing about with the steering wheel controls made me smile, fantastic review on an epic car, Jesus!
I look forward to your videos and thank you 👏🏻
Thanks for the review Harry!
Aesthetically the blue on red paint scheme looks.. to put it politely, a bit of a fail.
Fact: I will never be able to afford such a car. Nether the less, i love watching videos on super cars here on UA-cam, and love it on the rare occasions i get to see a super car in person out in the wild ^_^
When it comes to Ferrari, the models i have seen in person include the Testarossa, F40, Enzo, 288 GTO (it might have been a 308 GTB), 458 Italia, F355, 348, 400, GT4, Mondial, 360 ^_^
My favourite Ferrari of all time is the F50, which i have yet to spot one on the road. If i ever come into a lot of money, a Ferrari F50 will be added to the garage ^_^
I have invested in ADA Cardano which i like to believe just might end up becoming the largest bloackchain of them all. If that happen's, a Ferrari for me will become reality ^_^
