I'm building an 8 Megatower city to try and support building a Space Center great work from one city in Sandbox mode: 3 Low, 3 Mid, and 2 High income. Naturally for the mid towers I use the elite rather than the basic as it benefits property values. Some interesting stats: Low wealth apartment level provides 800 worker, 400 shoppers, and 200 students. For Mid it is 400, 200, 100. High is 200, 100, 50. Low shopping level supplies 1000 goods, and creates 400 low, 120 mid, and 20 high income jobs. Also requests 234 freight orders. For mid the numbers are, 500, 240, 200, 60, 234. High shopping: 250, 80, 120, 100, 360. So a good rule of thumb is 2.5 apartments for every shopping. Try and zone enough industry to eventually satisfy at least half of the anticipated freight orders.
Lol, googled "Mark SLC Punk" because I had no idea who you mean and I was pretty surprised that the guy you are talking about is Til Schweiger. Belief it or not, in Germany he is one of our most famous actors, seriously XD I fell of my chair while I was watching him in SLC ^^
Hmm, depends XD I mean you are right, of course you still need the services and so on, so these towers need a nearby city. But regarding workers, available jobs, and shops it is self- sufficient, that was my goal. And with some changes to the towers, like adding the powerplant level or the waste level, these towers do not depend on a neighboring city so much anymore. But my second goal was to maximize the population, thats the reason why I didn't add these service levels ;)
With the plot you were using you could have easily added services and it can be out of attention. There was a cliff and a flat area with rail connection on the opposite side, looks like a good place to have power, rail and other things.
And what I mean is start by teaching us to build one city and how to raise enough money, happiness ratings, and services in that one city to be able to sustain a second city made only of the mega towers in which no internal services are required but instead imported from the neighboring city. Thanks. :)
I know and I wanted, but for some reason the road tool gave me that "cant place on buildings" or so error when I tried to connect a road to the side entrance, not sure why.
I tried building a megatower in the Normal simulation, and you basically need a finance department in the region to be unlocked first to make your life easier.
hey auriga im curious if u let this runs several gameyears if itstil runs then since i encounterd some problems with the towers after some gameyears suddenly complayning about water etc and ggoing bankrupt because of it despite haveing enogh of alll services around
Ok So I have the game downloading (The SimsCity) and do mega towers come without the elites or do you have to get the expansion just to get both types .-. :3
hmm, I let the simulation run on cheata speed for about an hour and the only issue I had was that some apartment levels were abandon because people complained they had no jobs, despite that there were enough open jobs. But after a while they returnd.
If a city needs to rely on another for services like firefighting, waste disposal and water it is not independent. Do you think you could design a city that could function on its own without another city using only mega towers?
Would it be possible to teach us what kind of neighbor city is necessary to sustain the mega tower only city? I'm having serious problems trying to build a city right now and it seems pretty difficult to build a city without services or other buildings and it's very hard to get the neighbor city to even sustain itself let alone a mega tower only city. Help?
Nathan Ashmore Actually I is pretty simple, just build up a huge city. Try to keep rci in balance and provide all needed services. Don't forget to specialize your city, for some nice income. When everything runs fine just add some additional services and a lot of power, water, sewage etc. If you have problems to provide all these things in one city just build a second one.
I suggest making a bigger circle road and putting the megatowers farther apart from each other. Then add lower density roads branching out and putting city services there. That way there is less traffic on the main roads.
I was always disappointed that they didn't let the player "retrofit" or "rennovate" a level. For instance, if level 3 of an 8-level tower is an abandoned apartment, you have to either destroy most of the tower to replace it, or shut it down entirely. No alternative.... So many things that COULD have been cool about this game. Sigh what a blunder...
I find that once the apartment goes completely abandoned it resets and starts filling up again. It is bothersome. I have had apartments go abandoned due to "no work" when there were plenty of open jobs, only to fill up again and get abandoned due to "over work". I never encourage industrial with lower taxes as often as they run away and you are left needing workers. Better to be patient and postpone the seemingly inevitable worker shortage for as long as possible.
Mikesaniceguy Did you ever played SimCity??? Then you would know that Sandbox mode didn't change anything at the simulation as long as you don't want and I didn't wanted. I just used Sandbox to unlock all buildings and for some simoleons that's it. I wanted to test if it is possible to build just Megatowers in a City and if the simulation will keep them stable, that was my goal. For this it doesn't make any difference if you play in Sandbox or not. Without sandbox it works the same way, it would just take longer to unlock everything in the region, to save up the simoleons and to build up supporting cities, but the megatower city would work like in sandbox ;)And of course you need supporting cities because you need all city services and towers can not provide everything you need. So if this is a problem for you watch this video by SimNationTV ua-cam.com/video/_hgH76S3csQ/v-deo.html it's without supporting cities but with service buildings inside their "Megatower Only City" ;)
I got a city that sells computers i got hundreds of millions of cash so its easy to do this on another city plot in the region just by sending money there.
So hold on a second Auriga. Your video title is bullshit. "self sustaining" yeah, right... you REQUIRE another whole city.... -.- I was hoping you'd make something like... idk a city that is ACTUALLY self sustaining.. all on its own?... No? . .ok then.
Well, sorry if this video disapointed you, but the title just say Megatower only city and I pointed out in the video description that you of course need a neighboring city. My goal was to build a city just with Megatowers, no other buildings, and not a entirely self sustaining city. I know at the beginning of my video I said "self-sufficent" that was probably a mistaka, sorry for that, but actually that was regarding to jobs, commercials, parks etc. Because your Megatowers can provide all these things and in addition with a neighboring city you need no other buildings in your Megatower City, just Megatowers. Btw. If you want to see a self sustaining Megatower city, you should watch this cool episode from SimNationTV Other than in my city, he put all the important service buildings into his Megatower City, so his city is self sustaining but not Megatower only ;) ua-cam.com/video/_hgH76S3csQ/v-deo.html
Auriga City IN the description AFTER I clicked the video, so.. yeah either way the TITLE is "How to build a Megatower only city" This gives an impression that this video will show you how to make a city with megatowers only, not that you'd require a whole other city...
Well, even with a supporting city you still need the right balance of residential, office and merket levels for your towers, and I was curious if the city would work without any service buildings. Of course people will commute to other cities, but it is a difference if you have these buildings in your city or in a neighboring city. That's what this how to is about. But If you like to know how to build a stand alone megatower city, you could watch this ua-cam.com/video/_hgH76S3csQ/v-deo.html a guide by +SimNationTV. But of course his city only works because he added all the important service buildings to the city.
Auriga City Bullshit. You're on sandbox and you have supporting cities. Like kamma said, this "guide" is useless. It's just watching someone make a "visually" appealing city. That's it. Absolutly nothing more. People that get on sandbox and think they're playing the game are idiots.
Thanks for the video, very well done, and efficient use of space!

Did anyone else notice the deleted part of the road
I think he makes a tunnel under one megatower..
@@berug091Nah he's talking about sth else. Tunnel is planned.
lol his voice reminds me of Mark from SLC Punk.
"all of which i will gladly show you now!"
Lol, googled "Mark SLC Punk" because I had no idea who you mean and I was pretty surprised that the guy you are talking about is Til Schweiger. Belief it or not, in Germany he is one of our most famous actors, seriously XD I fell of my chair while I was watching him in SLC ^^
a mazda3 commercial came up and it was inspiring
It's not really self-sufficient, if it relies on a neighbouring city, is it? ;-)

He says at 0:58 that you need another city! So stop saying that it was only in the description

the megatowers got 3 entrance one in front and 1 each side left and ride plz conect them to the street system
I know and I wanted, but for some reason the road tool gave me that "cant place on buildings" or so error when I tried to connect a road to the side entrance, not sure why.
ah ok sorry so maybe a bug
This is really good bro
I tried building a megatower in the Normal simulation, and you basically need a finance department in the region to be unlocked first to make your life easier.
You can speed the construction up by clicking on the level while it is being built and click on "finish building", it will immediately finish it (:
Oh really, I never noticed that :)
You can only do that in sandbox mode...
Lucas Ezequiel "You can only do lame things in lame mode." Fixed
hey auriga im curious if u let this runs several gameyears if itstil runs then since i encounterd some problems with the towers after some gameyears suddenly complayning about water etc and ggoing bankrupt because of it despite haveing enogh of alll services around
Hey I am trying your set up' can't wait to see if it makes me better money
Ok So I have the game downloading (The SimsCity) and do mega towers come without the elites or do you have to get the expansion just to get both types .-. :3
Yoshiki Kishinuma For both megatower types you need the Cities of Tomorrow expansion.
Auriga City ok thank you :3
hmm, I let the simulation run on cheata speed for about an hour and the only issue I had was that some apartment levels were abandon because people complained they had no jobs, despite that there were enough open jobs. But after a while they returnd.
i have the same problem its probably a bug
probably they were looking for better jobs
Henry Abela lol
If a city needs to rely on another for services like firefighting, waste disposal and water it is not independent. Do you think you could design a city that could function on its own without another city using only mega towers?
I would have built solar crowns on on of the towers
Would it be possible to teach us what kind of neighbor city is necessary to sustain the mega tower only city? whats the formula for Elite megatowers??
Use sandbox mode. It gives you everything you need plus 1M in cash.
I have a question what the offices do i don't have the game but they are like industrial zones i mean they produce freight ?
I wonder if the only mega tower city will work with elite mega towers?
I suggest making a bigger circle road and putting the megatowers farther apart from each other. Then add lower density roads branching out and putting city services there. That way there is less traffic on the main roads.
Does not last long as they make money they become higher wealth residence ?
no,they stay the same wealth class their whole life, just like real life
I was always disappointed that they didn't let the player "retrofit" or "rennovate" a level. For instance, if level 3 of an 8-level tower is an abandoned apartment, you have to either destroy most of the tower to replace it, or shut it down entirely. No alternative....

Can you do this with elite too?
what is the radius of the road circle?
Well, I can't remember but I will try to figure out what it was ;)
90 degrees.
Add the safety level it is the fire police health in 1 level!
Why you don't use the elite towers?
because then there wouldnt be enough low wealth workers for the malls
My city has an income of -$86,000
Mikesaniceguy Did you ever played SimCity??? Then you would know that Sandbox mode didn't change anything at the simulation as long as you don't want and I didn't wanted. Except the part where YOU HAVE UNLIMITED MONEY .. which is the primary point of the game.
So, case closed.
+Mikesaniceguy You can have another city deliver huge amounts of cash to aid you in building a mega tower only city. Have you ever played SimCity?
Mikesaniceguy I did it without sandbox mode and it worked smoothly
I got a city that sells computers i got hundreds of millions of cash so its easy to do this on another city plot in the region just by sending money there.
Nice video buddyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
Music? Love that song
What region did u use?
+Owen Young The Canyon
What country do you live in?
I'm from Germany ;)
Oh thats why there is a little english errors... but its fine! :)

Tactical .Coockie lol, yeah, I think I know what you mean XD
What's the cheats codes ?
How he got over 14.000.000 money , in sand box is only 1.000.000 money
is it DLC ?
Alt+W
what that means
???
to press alt and w ?
lol
Yes every time you press it you are going to get 100K simelons
Any1 tried same with elite mega towers?
Would this work with an Elite Megatower?
Probably, but I think it's a lot harder to keep the workers happy.
Add some services, some low wealth megatowers to work for them.
IS this a mod?
nope its an add on called cities of tomorrow
Am I the only still playing SIMCITY in 2019???
No I'm still playing it, I love it
Nope, same for me. We can play all together if you like?

Micheal Aristotle So? He is the one who told me "Oh In the description Bleeeh" That is the only thing that really pissed me off bout it.
พูดไทยไม่ได้หรอหรือพูดไทยไม่เป็น

Pointless guide really?
