Thank you for sharing your priorities & finishing up tasks list & progress. I'm doing some mending & working on relaxing. Yesterday and the day before I did a huge amount of yardwork. I've been watching either vintage stuff, or things filmed in other countries because I am trying to support the SAG-AFTRA strike. Last I heard, the actors are still striking.
That was quickly done or so it looked from this side of the screen. I hope you won't have to fight with long covid too much longer. I'm not familiar with all of long covid's symptoms but hope that long has a reasonable definition!! I'm listening to Inheritor book 3 of C. J. Cherryh's Foreigner Series. I had forgotten how great this series was and author was! Not watching anything but UA-cam. My old favourite sewing shows are now on UA-cam so I get to watch the Sewing Connection with Shirley Adams and Sewing with Nancy. Both shows helped me to up my skills in sewing way back in the late 1980's. The shows on PBS and the provincial stations were great for learning. I really think these two shows still have value in teaching sewing. It's fun to rewatch these shows and remember how impressed I was that their machines allowed them to never play thread chicken! Not to mention the very amazing pressing tools and the vacuum that pulled the steam through the ironing board! Their equipment was a thing of dreams for me back then! Hope you have a great time on your trip! Enjoy yourself!
I, too, am in need of several sashes. Though, to be honest, I haven't left the house in three months because I still have a broken foot. And to top things off, now I have a vicious cold. I don't have the physical strength to do both. Working on Nonowrimo --- badly. I don't care. I'm doing it. Trying to clean up the sewing room after the Halloween rush. I managed to have and lose three things in a row: finally found the bags to put my PDF patterns in, found a missed pattern piece and lost the bag I had JUST FILLED with that pattern; found my daughter's new blouse that needed the button it came with put on --lost the blasted button; found my son's jacket that needs a zipper head replaced -- can't find the 150 zipper pulls I bought a couple of months ago. At this point, I'll just be happy to find the rest of the floor in the sewing room.
I am making myself a kind of caftan for lounging around. But mostly I am into my Xmas knitting of socks and slippers. I asked people if they were bored with that but everyone wanted hand-knitted socks and slippers. Again. They do wear out. Which means that they wear them. Have fun in your travels.
Excellent job getting the littles done. All together, they make for a lot of work, but the finishing touches are what bring the outfit from great to fabulous!
I came back from vacation to get an exhaustion fever and then immediately after that a stomach bug that doesn't want to go away. Figuring out how to do my job remotely and with only one screen has been a trip. 😅 I have a sewing project cut out (a modern skirt), but I haven't felt like sewing in a long time. Living room is a pile of boxes that need to be unpacked or set aside until I get more furniture. But I'm steadily working on embroidering a pocket; maybe I'll finish the embroidery within this year. 😂
Some time, try doing a rolled hem all the way around the pieces and then stitching them together. All your fabric edges are covered and you can stitch one rolled hem to another.
Im watching Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., I'm reading Grantville Gazette vol. 103 and I'm working on my UFO pile, all while recovering from a foot injury. Hope you had a great trip and didnt find it too exhausting.
I haven't been sewing for a while because work has currently taken over my available energy every day, bit hoping to get back to it soon. In the meantime watching your channel always makes me happy 😊
I’m once again listening to A Discovery of Witches, watching Loki, and loving the True Crime and Cocktails pod for light entertainment (if true crime is ever ‘light’) as the two hosts are a hoot!
Thanks for sharing. I enjoy seeing your creative processes. Trying to keep my envy in check because I miss traveling. I'm reading "More than a pretty face" for the fourth time. It's a Pride and Prejudice variation. In this Jane decides that she no longer wants Bingley after his rude departure. Instead she meets an Earl with a spine who is in love with her intelligence. The rest is Elizabeth and Darcy. I tend towards cheesey regency era stuff because of the slow progress I'm making in recovery. I'm going to finally start sewing the black gauchos. I can now sit up for 20-30 minutes before hurting and I can walk around my small apartment. I walk around with my walker outside. After the 5 minute walk outside, I have to lay down for 2-4 hours. Slowly but surely getting my life back😊.
You will be the most grand Lady at the ball!!!💚💚💚 i am reading Charles Spurgeon. Watching UA-cam videos like yours. Knitting items for charity like Operation Christmas Child. I enjoy the teaching you put in your videos. I like learning. 💚💚💚
I forgot about long COVID issues! I very much admire that such a prodigious task schedule is being completed. Most of my sewing is surgical, as in removing items from over-bedazzled, heavily-laced thrift finds that have good bones beneath the chaos. I am also updating these items by adding or replacing fasteners from ETSY and Amazon. Most of my reading had been news notifications. However with current upheaval globally, I am back to entertainment news. Which also isn't 100% good either, as of this post SAG/AFTRA is still on strike. Ok then off to the cute cat TikTok videos!
Noelle time! You were able to get so much done and managed to find time to make a video while feeling bad. Thank you so much! I hope you feel better in time for your trip. xoxo's Sandie
I’ve gone down a dr. Who wormhole now that they’re all on BBC iplayer ahead of the Christmas show. I’m reading a book called the Body in Pain which is a great book on the philosophy and psychology of the topic. It’s deep. It good.
Sooo looking forward to seeing the finished dress! Long Covid...ugh! It took me a full 10 months to get totally clear. My voice box was damaged & not back. I also caught a weird bug after then RSV. Not the easies couple 3 years! I only go to the store(s) so not positive where I caught these bugs & being extra careful did not spare me. I have an autoimmune disease so might as well have a target on me. lol Keep taking rest breaks & pound those fluids Nichole.
I’m so grateful for your willingness to share ALL your experiences! I’m currently working on ballet tutus for a production of the Nutcracker. I’m listening to the Discworld series by Terry prachett really good stuff. ❤❤❤
Love Terry Pratchett, I was in the Nutcracker when I was younger, even though my mother sewed I didn't think about making costumes... for me they just sort of happened. It's a ton of work to wrangle the children in a ballet. I was a ton of work to wrangle. Tutus are fun. I'm babbling but I'm imagining that you are tired.
From someone with fibro (which has a lot of fatigue in it), remember to schedule rest time or your body'll do it for you. I'm still learning this and pay for it when I forget. Lovely to spend a bit of time with you before I wander off the internet for a bit to iron 6 yards of fabric before I make a dress. I hope you have fun and though the fabrics don't feel nice, they look nice...which is okay if they're not going to be against your skin. I hope you have fun on your trip and have fun wearing the things you're making. They look like they'll be very cozy and easy to wear. Recently, I've been listening to a lot of Dakota Cassidy because they're in the Audible Plus catalog and I like quirky PNR/paranormal cozies. Danielle Garrett is also nice for the same genre and exploration reasons.
Amidst the time crunch, I find it amazing that you still make time to explain things like the chiton for us. Have a fabulous time away. I'm watching this while playing yarn chicken trying to finish a length of crocheted lace to embellish a lampshade. I've been reading Muriel Matters, an excellent biography about an Aussie woman who was a significant suffragist (Yes, I'm an Aussie). And watching Frasier series from the beginning.
I'm doing my Monday morning routine of breakfast while catching up on YT videos, so happy to see you put out a new video! I was between books and remembered you recommended the Dresden files, and now I'm on book 2. I haven't felt up to sewing myself, so I'm procraftinating by luceting cord and making dorset buttons. And trying to clean up our craft room. 😅
Adding extra width in the front of your chiton...genius!! 🤯 Mine are always equal and they always kind of lack that drape. And cut me off at the neck 🤣
I've got long covid too. It sucks, sorry you have it too. Just finished my first fully lined, pleated, pintucked daily wear dress. Need a simple circle skirted daily wear dress in fun fish fabric next, to have a project with no new techniques!
Your sash box look like a treat. 👀💕 I’m finishing up my first Victorian 1885 skirts and onto the bodice. However, I may break up the task with making a men’s 1885 shirt. Safe travels! ✈️
I love the effect of those moons on this garment! I just rewatched Wheel of Time recently, too. Then binged the Fall of the House of Usher. So gruesome. But classic literature gruesome? Worth the watch for those who can handle gore. I'm working my way through Christmas presents (knit and cross stitch) and getting ready to try and make way too many Christmas ornaments, while still hoping I can cram in making some 80s tops this weekend.
I too have been rewatching the Wheel of Time series. I'm currently working on a T-shirt banner and am struggling halfway through. My mind really just doesn't want to do the thing and get it wrong. I hope you enjoy your time at the ball!
I’m weaving some Christmas gifts, trying to finish knitting an afghan, getting ready to start knitting some socks and hemming some towels I wove a while ago. So not much TV or reading this time around. I hope you enjoy your trip in spite of long covid.
Well done in getting all your tasks done. It's so satisfying. I'm making 2 crochet baby blankets for twin great-grandchildren due in January and a crochet boxer dog for a friend. I'm struggling with his muzzle as the pattern is incorrect, but I have now decided how to do it to make it work, yippee. Have a great trip x
I just finished Murder in D Minor by Alexia Gordon. It’s so good- a funny cozy murder mystery. Highly recommend. My current sewing project is a doctor who shirtwaist dress. Thanks for the company as I work on different things ❤
Currently working on a Poison Ivy cosplay, but a Christmas version. So, pinup style dress, with a lined wool cloak, trimmed in white “fur”. I’m also making an evergreen crown with clear glass beads (hoping it reads like icicles).
I’m trying to plot out quilting….I’ve a bunch of tees that I don’t wear. So thought I would practice first using some old cloth napkins. I would not have to cut them.
Two mins in -- so, fabricmart is off my list of potentials... good to know. Right now the only place I get fabric is my local Fabricland (Canada) bc I don't trust any of the online shops! Full video -- ooooh, all the items turned out beautifully! And it looks like you had fun on your trip, from your posts on IG :D You seem to be feeling more yourself -- I hope that's the case. :)
Excellent montages! Maybe it's just me but I could watch someone cutting fabric for hours, especially at high speed! 🤷 Currently watching Loki and Welcome to Wrexham Season 2, and watching a lot of Flosstube videos while I recover from Covid. It messes you up, for sure!
I'm in a big overhaul of my tiny craft room and I've been listening to the cricket world cup while I'm do that. I've also just had the last session on my tattoo sleeve, so that's an FO I can tick off!
Not only have I been watching _Wheel of Time,_ but I've literally uploaded three show-based song parodies in the last few weeks. Previously I had just done book-related song parodies, so this is a new thing for me, it's been fun. I'm also watching _Loki,_ but I'm only on the second episode. It's kind of confusing, I have to say. I will be going to the movies to see _The Marvels_ next week, looking forward to that.
Sprained my ankle a couple weeks ago so I haven't really done much sewing. I've finished watching "Gen V", I'm watching Loki as it comes out, I'm also watching a show called "Upload" which is pretty entertaining. Just purchased Fourth Wing and Iron Flame so will be working on reading those shortly.
Listening to "The Last Necromancer " series by C.J. Archer. The series is set in 1890's ish a good laugh and the dress descriptions make me want to sew all the things; unfortunately for my sewing desire I am currently in the middle of crocheting 3 baby blankets and knitting matching sweaters with 2 bonnets & 1 toque.
I'm getting ready to work on a hoodie for my husband now that I've had a break from Halloween sewing (I did finish in time!). Just finished the second book in the Unorthodox Chronicles by James Butcher (Jim's son) and really enjoyed it. I'm watching the Gilded Age.
Don't you live in the LA area? I only say that because you went to the garment district and bought some beautiful fabric, which encouraged me to go to LA and get some. I live in the San Joaquin valley about 5 hours from LA. I wouldn't order fabric online if I lived there because I like to feel what I am buying and I like you have had terrible ezperiences with online fabric purchases. Please don't think I am knocking you by any means regarding your fabric purchase. You have been a great inspiration for me and my sewing journey. Thank YOU!!
Working on designing a dress that is for maternity and nursing but can still convert to a normal piece of clothing afterward. Been watching Helluva Boss. Has some amazing talent involved in the project (including Alex Brighton of Beetlejuice fame). About to sit down to the new season of Good Omens but have to find time bc I am also packing for a move (finally not going to be staying with family anymore after ending up homeless during the pandemic, so yay!) caring for my newborn and trying to deal with my partner who has had a manic break amid all the stress and taken off to find treatment. So busy enough that G.O.s might have to wait a few. Still, it is good to know there are good distractions waiting for me during downtime.
Have a lovely trip! Currently watching Farscape (i thought id watched it first time around but can't remember any of the storyline! ) and reading the Rebus series of books by Ian Rankin. Love a whodunnit!
long covid here too. it's exhausting. I hope yours eases soon. I'm listening to Aurelius Whitlock's Murder Museum, which is a bunch of fun and generally cheers me up. my main project is the lost souls scarf (crochet), but I'm also working my yearly puzzle christmas card. and I always have a whole load of projects happening. plus I learned to spin with a drop spindle earlier this week, which is just a bunch of fun.
I took a small hiatus from yt, so I didn’t hear you have long COVID. :( that sucks! I’m amazed at all you seem to be getting done despite it weighing you down!
I'm rereading the Hundred Thousand Kingdoms right now, but I'm really looking forward to the new Freya Marske book that's coming out tomorrow and the new Murderbot book that's coming out next week!
I've been sorting through boxes bags and overpacked luggage... finding some clothes to donate and many unfinished projects. I'm currently working on a lightweight brown gown with a high waist (the slightly too narrow bodice with sleeves and fabric scraps were in todays luggage sort) using up scraps to widen the bodice and make the skirt.
Ooh, I have long Covid, too, and it SUCKS! Fortunately, it's not as bad as some people have it. I've been in a sewing slump. I have Thanksgiving week off, and we're not going anywhere, so hopefully, I'll get back on track. Hang in there! I'm looking forward to your adventures back east!
Just got through making my Halloween/ Ren. Fair costume a few weeks ago. Made a skirt, peasant blouse and sort of stays. Had no pattern and not accurate at all but I drafted it on my body and super proud of my first attempt. Just got through with Wheel of Time. Started watching The Golden Age.
I'm so sorry you have long covid - that SUCKS. One of my author friends has it and it has really messed with her writing. :( I hope that the symptoms you have get better, I love your videos and you deserve good things! As far as me, I released two books in October! One contemporary and one paranormal, which is great since my own writing career has been, well, sub optimal lately. Hopefully it will get better, too. :) Take care, enjoy your trip!
Working on: basics of sewing because I'm tired of living vicariously through costumers. Reading/listening to: A witch's guide to fake dating a demon by Sarah Hawley. Super funny so far Overall good
I bought fabric from Stone Mountain and Daughter to make a hip-length chiton for next Summer. But I barely know how to sew so I’m holding off starting it until I get more practice in. I also can’t find/decide on anything to connect the sleeve slits. Ugh. I just saw A Murder in Venice. Although I really enjoyed it, and think Kenneth Brannaugh makes a pretty darn good Poirot, I was just a tad disappointed with the portrayal of his friend Ariadne’s character. Don’t want to spoil it, and it was acted very well, but, yeah, I don’t want to think of her that way. Other than that, I highly recommend the movie. ❤
Really appreciate the sash process. How wide do you make them? Watching Shameless. My audio drama scripts are going well. Hoping to pitch it soon. Hopefully SAG will be finished striking any day now. Hand sewing an 18th century bodice/jacket. To the end.
OMG I feel you with awful super cheap polyester.... I'm working on a dress for my company's client holiday party and my fashion fabric (brocade skulls from mood) is pretty expense from what I usually limit myself to, so I went super cheap on lining... never having planned on a lining before in my life, I just have to say, I didn't know.... it was a snaggy fraying nightmare that I ended up having to french seam. and honestly I don't even know if I'll need it or if I want it against my skin or if it will make me over heat. But yeah I learned my lesson... I should have spent the extra 2 or 3 dollars for something nicer 🙄
Remember that you can always just dye cotton muslin and use that for your lining and it will make you way happier than any poly you ever use! You want something breathable next to your skin! 💖
I'm currently mending and making myself a tee-shirt turban for my xlong hair. Just finished Nettle and Bone by T Kingfisher. I have recommended her books for my bookclub it's the twist of the unanticipated that delights me. I'm not doing well physically or mentally currently. I'm trying to focus on this to will pass.
I'm sorry to hear that you have long covid. That must really suck. I am sick right now, too. I haven't done a covid test yet. I hope it's just a cold. I will find out shortly. I am working on a waistcoat for my dad and I have been watching news on the situation in Gaza pretty much non-stop. I've also been watching videos on the history of Israel and Palestine because I was given a very one-sided picture of what's going on there back in my school days and, now, we have access to other perspectives. It's upsetting, but I'd rather know the whole story than believe something comforting but untrue. The waistcoat is requiring that I learn new things, too, because it's more tailored. I still can't figure out a reliable method for doing mitered corners, even though I've followed several tutorials. The corners look ok now, but it was a mess getting there.
Long Covid sucks. Almost 3 years later and I still have issues. They have gotten better but my breathing isn’t the way it used to be and still get exhausted for no reason and just sleep for days.
Do you know of a decent source for poly taffeta? I need to make some 1780s clothes for a larp in SF in February and I definitely do not have a silk budget for it XD
I’ve previously done a Britannia costume (which I need to tear apart now to use for mock ups) and each time I’ve worn one of my regency shifts underneath. Is it accurate? No. Will anybody be looking underneath and see at a pinch? Nope. So I call it good lol. Also, I’ve got Long Covid, so if you want an international pal to talk to, please let me know. I’m on Twitter and Insta
I am new and just started sewing my first piece, which is a chemise. Is there some sort of resource that will help me know which undergarments and clothing can be worn for multiple time periods? It is all so overwhelming. I want to dress in all the historic periods, but that isnt exactly realistic, and I need to maximize the pieces I make. Any help would be really appreciated
Unfortunately, I don’t think there’s really a cheat sheet for that, no. It’s usually just research on the time periods you like and looking at the shapes and seeing if you have something that can create that sillouette
@Costuming_Drama OK, thank you for letting me know. I am a fairly new subscriber (a few months) and I have been marathon watching your videos. Your videos where you buy fabric, corset supplies, and accessories is so helpful! I just watched your bookshelf re-do/book list and I agree with you about the books for beginners. I bought a couple of the books suggested for beginners and they were WAY over my head. I've sewn for decades but just started sewing garments, which is a whole different beast. I appreciate all the information in your videos. I'm disabled so you keep me company when I can't sleep or am in bed most or all of the day. I know videos are a lot of work, and I greatly appreciate what you are doing, especially for those of us in larger bodies.
Leaving a comment because I want to support you in the vast ocean that is the Algorithm, but I am not actively working on anything at the moment. I want to, but besides working and doing what I can for housework, my brain is going "bleh" and not cooperating 😒
Why do I do this to myself has officially become the trademark quote for the channel!

I need to start the new season of Loki. I've been watching Great British Bake Off and started a new writing journal.
So happy tour back. Stay nice to your self

I'm working on the Black Snail 1890s vest.
The copper petticoat looks awesome! 💜

I enjoy a bits and bobs vid. As a chronic unfinisher it’s so satisfying 😂
Nice to know someone can go to a ball and create a lovely outfit to wear to said ball.
I'm listening to Escape This Podcast, my favorite podcast right now! Each episode is an audio escape room, and I find it so engaging and entertaining.
I'm loving the photoshoots you're putting on Instagram! ❤
I haven't been sewing for a while because work has currently taken over my available energy every day, bit hoping to get back to it soon. In the meantime watching your channel always makes me happy 😊
That copper fabric is STUNNING!!
Hope you loved Missouri!

ANOTHER amazing video. Loved it. Always so informative and honest. 👍🏼😃
I’m so sorry that you have long Covid. I’ve had it for a couple of years and it sucks.
ugggh i hope you get better soon! I am now on year two and I would really like this to go away now. I imagine you are feeling the same!

Enjoy your trip!
I’m considering redecorating my sewing room and making it … different. Very different!
i too love copper/bronze color fabric and would love to make a outfit of nice coppery goodness
I’m moving on to my next house coat/wrapper. I’ll post them on insta when I get done.
I’ve gone down a dr. Who wormhole now that they’re all on BBC iplayer ahead of the Christmas show. I’m reading a book called the Body in Pain which is a great book on the philosophy and psychology of the topic. It’s deep. It good.

I’m currently working on ballet tutus for a production of the Nutcracker. I’m listening to the Discworld series by Terry prachett really good stuff.

I'm working on a four tiered petticoat. Nice to know someone else is wrangling tulle today. Love Terry Pratchet! Happy sewing 🤗
Love Terry Pratchett, I was in the Nutcracker when I was younger, even though my mother sewed I didn't think about making costumes... for me they just sort of happened.

I've got long covid too. It sucks, sorry you have it too. Just finished my first fully lined, pleated, pintucked daily wear dress. Need a simple circle skirted daily wear dress in fun fish fabric next, to have a project with no new techniques!
I hope your long covid gets better soon!!
Listening to this as I work on my costume design for the play that opens Thursday!!!
Wow that sounds fabulous!
And I went on a side quest to buy myself a poke bonnet hat pattern for Christmas in inspiration of your recent videos. Thanks Noelle! 🤣
That is awesome!
@@Costuming_Drama I'm excited to make it. I discovered I really enjoy making historical hats 🤣
I am currently working on my children's costumes for the theater production of "A Charlie Brown Christmas" that they are in.
Making a chemise inspired dino dress. Reading The Liar’s Knot by MA Carrick
Watching Revenge season 4
Thank YOU!!
nope! I live in the bay area!
Hope the trip goes well! I just finished watching Bodies, on Netflix - very good! Time travel Sci-fi, I think you might enjoy it!
Just cut the pieces of a Lap Quilt for an elderly neighbor - watching the first 5 seasons of Outlander
long covid here too. it's exhausting.
I hope your long covid gets better soon!!
In jewelry making, metal components such as those crescents are called "findings" but you could also call them connectors.
FINDINGS! Thank you!
@@Costuming_Drama you're very welcome. Every craft has its weird lingo 💜
I hope you are feeling better!!
I have 10 days to make pumpkin breeches for a costuming course I'm taking. Is that enough time? We'll see.
Oh yay drafting your own!!
Super funny so far
Overall good
I bought fabric from Stone Mountain and Daughter to make a hip-length chiton for next Summer.
To the end.
i think they were like 5" wide!
Sorry you have Long Covid!
I hope you are doing better now
@Costuming_Drama I'm still here, that's pretty good
I'm sorry to hear that you have long covid.
They have gotten better but my breathing isn’t the way it used to be and still get exhausted for no reason and just sleep for days.
oh man, i hope you keep getting better. Yeah, the exhaustion part of this is the worst... I really wish there was some sort of treatment...
🧵✨
Do you know of a decent source for poly taffeta? I need to make some 1780s clothes for a larp in SF in February and I definitely do not have a silk budget for it XD
i'm a bad person to ask because i would go to the fabric district and touch it before i buy it!
To the ens. Xxx
Leaving a comment because I want to support you in the vast ocean that is the Algorithm, but I am not actively working on anything at the moment. I want to, but besides working and doing what I can for housework, my brain is going "bleh" and not cooperating 😒
I finished a UFO my son's quilt next up Christmas presents, I'm not watching anything really.
