Mike Oldfield is the best musician of the twentieth century. Incredible genius and multi-instrumentalist. For me, the best guitarist ever. Great melodies, sonorous instruments combined with such beautiful Celtic sounds. I'm a musician myself and a big fan of Mike Oldfield.❤❤❤
the best guitarist ever, recognized by many greats (Eric Clapton, Keith Richards, Mark Knopfler, Carlos Santana, etc) is Paco de Lucía... but he already died
When I was a young girl I was completely in love with Mike Oldfield. (Platonic, of course). Now we're old, he's older than me, of course, but he's still really handsome. His music has been the company of my life and I will continue listen it until the end
It was heregest ridge for me. Born in 64 but discovered his music in 1980. I miss the 70s very much but his music takes me back to that decade evertime. Bliss . oh and not forgetting omadawn and incantation. Heaven on a turntable. Thanks mike.
You don't often see his name come up in the top twenty guitarists of all time etc ,etc , etc. But in my book Mike Oldfield is one of the greatest guitar players that ever picked a guitar up , top five easily. He's written some fabulous music 😎
I'm 24 years old and over the last two years I have warmed up to mike oldfield's music and most of his songs are so underrated and just sitting here in the house listening to to him absolutely an amazing glad to have come across this
Mike Oldfield has created innovative, sincere, complex, and eternally beautiful music. He will go down in history as a virtuoso multi-instrumentalist and a composer of highest caliber. This song is lighter in character. If you are familiar with Mike's personal life, you should know that he struggled with many psychological and personal issues (lots of us did too, but that's not the point). The man is now HAVING FUN. Guess what? He CAN. But above all, Mr. Oldfield knows what he's capable of. He's done it all - done it very well and much, much better than even the best out there. Cheers.
Didn't know about that... Well, no matter the cause, this is still much better than many pop songs. And yes, some fun is legitimate even for the Queen of England. :P
Such a Great song. Mike what superb writer/ composer and player. Great voice and energy by this young man a song that makes you feel good. Need more of these for sure
This song is a real tonic. Mike is known for his timeless classics but he knows how to produce classic pop! The young Luke Spiller is a perfect choice. Looks like they had a lot of fun making the video too. Rock On Mike.
Mike always preferred writing music like Tubular Bells, Hergest Ridge, Crises etc: complex, long, meditative pieces. However, he admitted once that he was somewhat "forced" to write short "pop-ish" songs to satisfy a greater public that he usually placed on the B-sides of his records. This is how classics like Moonlight Shadows, Man in the Rain, Shine, Shadow on the Wall, Crime of Passion - and also Sailing - were born.
This album proves that Mike still knows how to write pop music, this feature song is easy listening and you will find yourself singing in the chorus, reminds me of the 1980days of Moonlight Shadow, Crises, Shadow on the wall, Poison Arrows etc ❤
I thank my older brother for introducing me to Mike Oldfield's songs when I was in High School. I have been a huge fan since then. Aaminsan Oldfield is a brilliant musician and virtuoso guitar player. Thank you for bringing some much joy to us Rock Fans.
It is incredible that a multifaceted composer and guitar player (one of the best) from the 70s and 80s shows us that after concentrating on New Age music, then even makes non-pop rock that he compose it masterfully, and he also has such an ear that he knew how to choose this great young voice, perfectly fine as he did in the 80s with Moon Light Shadow and in the 90s with Man in the Rain. Olfield is one of the best musicians ever, and this last afirmation is not an exageration. Gos bless him!
Amazing collaboration! The amazing musical talent of Mike Oldfield and the brilliant voice and personality of Luke Spiller! It doesn't get any better!!
Oh my God, I ignored Mike's last albums for years and yesterday I did give this song a try and it blew me away immediately! Same with "Man on the Rocks". So incredibly good. Sorry, Mike.
I was out of wind, food and water for four days trying to sail from Cuba to Mexico... and while all the other boats were calling desperately on the radio trying to get a ship to tow them.. I was dancing on deck on this song haha. Now is more like a theme song for bad days. But one day I will have another boat and just go... sailing.
The quintessential, most accomplished musician in the world! This genius cannot, by definition, put a music foot wrong! Once hooked, you can NEVER escape his lure!
Ere estupendos. Buenas suertes.
Que gran verdad has publicado!.
Mike is an amazing genius that never ceases to surprise! this young singer has an amazing voice as well! I truly wish he would bring a nice, big production to my neck of the woods!
The camera work in this video is phenomenal - at 0:54, for example, the camera person moves within the comfort zone of the singer for added "intimacy" - and the editing in many places is very clever.
I knew mike oldfields music from.a young age even then when i didint understand i just knew this music was above extraordinary. There is not a week in my life where at some stage i havent listen to his music. Its not something youd get tired off . Thank you mr oldfield for exceptional material over the years
Hi. I’m just discovering this most brilliant album. It’s a masterpiece. There’s an edge but a lightness and of course some amazing chord structures in these songs. Dreaming in the Wind as well as this song are so wonderful and light. Moonshine is beautiful, with harming to Chris de Burgh’s brilliant “Leather On My Shoes.” Just wonderful. I wish Mike would write more vocal albums.
I was already thinking that Mike had already written his best, I mean Crisis and Discovery, but this song is just some kind of magic. Bravo and bravo again! Thanks Mike!!!
There is only one word appropriate for this new song "AWESOME". This will be a number one smash hit for certain. Rarely do I like songs after just one listening. Mike Oldfield, you are a freak.
This is the version that should have made it onto the album. Great song by Mike Oldfield and great vocals by Luke Spiller of The Struts! The very best.
This song never fails to put me in a good mood, even though there have been some dark clouds over me recently. I love the blueness of the Caribbean Sea.
I am an "old school" epic Oldfield fan where TB, Hergest Ridge , Ommadawn and Music Of The Spheres rule but I have to say this is very catchy and I have caught myself singing it more than once so it is defo growing on me.
I actually love this. What an amazing choice of singer too, Luke sounds amazing!! Glad to see most of the reviews have been positive. I've heard a few odd criticisms which left me a little apprehensive but having heard this and a few samples I really can't see why some are so negative. I'm about to head on over to itunes to pick this album up. Excellent, catchy and very uplifting.
I've heard this many times, but I guess I had to listen many more of other songs to come back and appreciate how craftly its produced, speaking from technical point of view, its sounds so wide and powerful.

Mike, ohne deine Musik wäre mein Universum armseling. Die Stimme von Luke ist der Hammer!

Who can dislike this song????!!!
nobody should
Its not so bad
+Marcus Salem Yes, with brain but.... with no heart.
+Marcus Salem I'm talking about this particular song, not any. It's that simple.
I can't help but love how happy Mike looks here

Yeah would love to have listened to him jamming on his boat!

Did u view his video up in Scotland? Awesome.
All you aspiring musicians listen to this genius and say to yourselves, "can i get near this man".

Didn't know about that... Well, no matter the cause, this is still much better than many pop songs. And yes, some fun is legitimate even for the Queen of England. :P
Yes it's true
oh, thank you for sharing this information.. I love this lighter side of him....
Such a Great song. Mike what superb writer/ composer and player. Great voice and energy by this young man a song that makes you feel good. Need more of these for sure

Luke Spiller's look remind me the young Freddy Mercury of 1973-1976
Agree they both make this song so good
Genius Mike Oldfield, combined with Luke Spiller = Mike Jagger and Freddie Mercury, two in one!! Incredible song, and fantastic vocals!!
This album proves that Mike still knows how to write pop music, this feature song is easy listening and you will find yourself singing in the chorus, reminds me of the 1980days of Moonlight Shadow, Crises, Shadow on the wall, Poison Arrows etc ❤
Dad rock at it’s best. Oldfield is still brilliant after all these years.
Is still finne after this Years.Woww it is !
Mike is awesome is too 1971s.
This guy can sing!!! Had to watch it again......oh, and thanks Mike😇
I thank my older brother for introducing me to Mike Oldfield's songs when I was in High School. I have been a huge fan since then. Aaminsan Oldfield is a brilliant musician and virtuoso guitar player. Thank you for bringing some much joy to us Rock Fans.
Stunning!!!!! Absolutely beautiful song with the genius himself playing guitar!!
Okay, this is a good start. If this is any indication, MAN ON THE ROCKS could be Mike's best album in thirty years.
Oh my God, I ignored Mike's last albums for years and yesterday I did give this song a try and it blew me away immediately! Same with "Man on the Rocks". So incredibly good. Sorry, Mike.
MIKE OLDFIELD YOU ARE THE BEST COMPOSER IN THE WORLD !!!!!!
2:25-2:41: anyone else get goosebumps by those superb vocals and that awesome Mike-y guitar?! 🤩
He's still fine in 1970s Fire !🫐
I get goosebumps from 00:00 to 03:37 !
Yep, I'm done with this concrete home free living and an aspiring life await!
Ooh, that guitar tone is so unique! You can close your eyes and still know it's Mike who's playing.
Can you ?
Nah, not anymore.
I was out of wind, food and water for four days trying to sail from Cuba to Mexico... and while all the other boats were calling desperately on the radio trying to get a ship to tow them..
I think Sir Rod Stewart missed this number
Nice upbeat song & refreshing to hear something that reminds me of how music used to be way back when
Great to see Mike back in full swing, and this singer is great, looks like a young Freddie Mercury!
:)
with a good measure of RHPS-era Tim Curry thrown into the mix...
Sounds like Freddy as well

Interesting, I missed this at the beginning of Mike's career, smile, good mood. It is great that He has really found happiness!
Mike Oldfield....brilliant artist....Luke Spiller...amazing vocals
Like father and child. Or a teacher with his student. But still, the teacher is the best... thanks Mike. Love you!
What a Great singer
Luke spiller he’s great
love the sound of Mike's guitar as always
Me too!!!! As always!!!
And the look of it here as well - a Telecaster with a Stratocaster neck. Must’ve noticed it this time from setting up & bonding with my new Tele.
But, he's only playing acoustic guitar
@@ElvarMasson but still;) and the guitar solo isn’t electric guitar or you have hearing problems?;)
Fantastic song and great that Mike has it again.
it brings back the times of Crises and Discovery.

A lovely, happy video of a really great song. Mike Oldfield's still got it and "Man on the Rocks" is a great album. I enjoyed listening to his demos.
Listened to Tubular Bells and Crises this weekend, fantastic and love the Struts
Mistrz melodii wpadającej w ucho. Pozytywna energia jak zawsze. Pełen relax!
Tak jest
Woww Language woww.
This song is really catchy. I hope it will become a radio hit.
Did it?
Mike is an amazing genius that never ceases to surprise! this young singer has an amazing voice as well! I truly wish he would bring a nice, big production to my neck of the woods!
The camera work in this video is phenomenal - at 0:54, for example, the camera person moves within the comfort zone of the singer for added "intimacy" - and the editing in many places is very clever.
He is my power in my live. His songs I love from my 17 years , just give me still nice feeling to be happy. Thank you Mike🗽
This song keeps getting better and it is very mike oldfield style

Great stuff, somewhat underrated.
Great tune, but what is so good about the video is seeing how happy Mike looks. The term genius is used to liberally nowadays but Mike truly is.
This is the version that should have made it onto the album. Great song by Mike Oldfield and great vocals by Luke Spiller of The Struts! The very best.
Pure amazing song by a musician I grew up with through my childhood and beyond. Luke and Mike rock! I love it!
You gotta appreciate Mike's versatility. He could play anything.
MIKE OLDFIELD GENIUS !!!!!! NUMBER ONE OF MUSIC !!!!!!
Jeff Lynne too
Marry Christmas ❤❤❤2024 😊😊
I love the song, and the video. But there isn't a sail in sight except for the one furled up on the boom of a small yacht driven by its motor.
This song never fails to put me in a good mood, even though there have been some dark clouds over me recently. I love the blueness of the Caribbean Sea.
LimeAid hope that the mood is passed away from you LimeAid 🥂✨👍🎶🙏
He has lived permanently in Bahamas since 2009. I can see why ;)
The mans nearing 70 but he's making music that sounds just like every other contemporary rock song on the charts today. Not bad.
I am an "old school" epic Oldfield fan where TB, Hergest Ridge , Ommadawn and Music Of The Spheres rule but I have to say this is very catchy and I have caught myself singing it more than once so it is defo growing on me.
ditto :) don't forget Amarok though. It's legendary...
I dont know why are more than 600 dislike here !! Mike Oldfield has created eternally beautiful music. Grgrgr A big Hug from Spain
Totally in love with Mike Oldfield, beautiful on the inside and out - his music reflects this. The man is a living legend
MIKE OLDFIELD IS A MIDAS OF MUSIC...EVERY SONG OF HIM IS GOLD
How is it possible that an old relic like me who knows every single chord and tune of Mike Oldfields music becomes completely absorbed by the singer?
Luke and the Struts are great too
@@edinjelec7872 I just discovered that, thanks anyway
😊❤
Luke is awesome ❤❤❤❤
Mike is a legend and Luke will be too. Awesome collaboration.

Mike is pure musician genius, love that song!!!
As good as ever! Keep on rocking, Mike!
Excellent, catchy and very uplifting.
fully agree with you, Aldebaran
Critics being paid to view their personal opinion ? Doesn't work for me
Are you new to the internet? NEVER listen to other people, always form your own opinion 😃
What an amazing album!! And that voice!!
I've heard this many times, but I guess I had to listen many more of other songs to come back and appreciate how craftly its produced, speaking from technical point of view, its sounds so wide and powerful.
Just fantastic. Classic Mike Oldfield quality.
Great song, great singer.! And Oldfield is a living legend, one of the best.!
Looking forward to seeing Mike live next year here in Copenhagen. ♥ Gonna be a blast!
I just cannot resist dancing every time when I hear this amazing song....BRAVO and THANK YOU SO MUCH..dear MIKE OLDFIELD ❤❤❤❤❤
I discovered THE BEAUTY of Mike Oldfield just recently - which is a shame really, but at least there's plenty of stuff to listen to....
Chariots and Shadows on the wall are the winners so far!!!
Yeah - hours and hours of stunning music of the 80ies and especially the 70ies with mainly pure instrumental "symphonies", that i personally love most
Brilient song and luke gave the best vocals i have herd in years. It makes me happy
All the best
Colin H
Oldfield, always the genius of the composition of eternal melodies.
Love, from northern Ireland UK, still playing, your song , Mike,,! 🤝
Mike, you musical genius. Fan of yours since your first record! Have listened to all your songs and I still do. I am amazed that after let's say 45 years, your music is still refressing like you have been making music all of your life. Keep up your inspiring work! and Thanks !!!!!
This man has made history! Thanks Mike!
Luke Spiller is a wonderfull thing too!!! what a nature force!
Awesome song. And this kids voice is awesome and very unique.
I agree, I haven't heard from him before, but now that I know his name I will recognize him everywhere... I love artists that have a recognizable voice.... This is in contrast with lots of artists nowadays that all sound the same...Lots of the time it's just about yelling out loud, but not having great quality of music.
This is a super voice...
He's actually in a band called The Struts. Very talented band in my opinion.
I love Luke Spiller's voice. It is instantly recognisable and unique. I hadn't heard him until he worked with Mike Oldfield.. I'm an Oldfield fan since his first Tubular Bells days. I have my late ex husband to thank for my diverse taste in music. Mike oldfield has done some extraordinary things over the years. His collaboration with Luke is an absolute joy..
Mike has been a stalwart for me. Every time I listen to him I am making a comeback to the good times.
I am obsessed with this Song. So beautiful
...MIKE ES EL UNICO QUE PUEDE COMPONER UNA CANCIÓN COMO ESTA...TE RETROTRAE A OTRA EPOCA EN LA QUE SE HACIA BUENA MUSICA...Y ÉL ES EL MEJOR...!
