One of my favourite songs ever! Maggie's voice fits so well, so angelical, it's one of those songs that makes you feel incredibly nostalgic which is such a beautiful and yet melancholic feeling
Mike Oldfield has had the kind of career most can only dream of. He only ever created what he wanted to and then moved on- and along the way created some truly momentous pieces of music- such as this one.
This defines the 80s.. The vibe, the attitude, the fashion, the beauty, it's all definitely 80s, and listening to this is like transporting my mind back four decades. Life was so perfect, surrounded by magic and love, friends and family. Most are gone now, but this music plugs me into their souls in memories, reliving them, like we are all back together for a glorious few minutes ❤️
This is so very true. There was so much love back then, I’m not talking about romantic love, more of love and respect between all people. It’s been lost.
Mike Oldfield is hugely talented but this is definitely one of my favourite of his song, and Maggie Reilly complements it perfectly. Happy memories listening to it when I was at school

There's something truly magical about old music like this......sadly,as a thirteen year old I was never alive to enjoy those times, but when I hear my friends talking about one direction and flicking miley Cyrus I think, wow am I lucky to know about this music!
you realise that 30 years ago people thought this particular track of Mike Oldfield was way to commercial and to heavily marketed. now I'm not comparing Oldfield to one direction or anything but truth be said, there's some really good music out there besides what you hear on the radio. your being 13, so not yet alive when this music was made is a strange statement, I wasn't alive when Carl Orff wrote carmina burana for instance but I'm glad I live in this day and age when music is just a mouseclick away, think about that :)
its probable that music companies purposefully flood the market with shit to increase the value of their back catalogues so they can increase the value of company property and therefore the company coverage of the mundane lives of celebrities are sold for more than music, music id mostly a gateway for the famouse for fame to promote them to sell shit controversy = free advertising piss off a bunch of prudes and the song will be on the news its an ass, its a tit GET OVER IT go to a porn site or get a hooker and just get it over with you're making them stronger try the newgrounds audio portal or bandcamp or soundcloud or some shit non-commercial songs have to compete on their content instead of their hype the low quality oldies are forgotten because nobody bothers to look for them unless there was something noteworthy about them. over 9000 comments all reading "i hate my generation" "OLD-SHIT records inc" stock up 17% "be sure to ship the "Justin's Greatest sHITS" before we sell our back catalogue of musicians that lay cold in the dust and we dont have to pay we will get more money because of the sales increase from disenfranchised teens who think there UNIQUE for listening to oldies every song EVER has an i hate my generation comment youre not so fucking special youre just surrounded by morons MUSICAL Dunning-Kruger effect

Mike's guitar absolutely sings during the guitar solo. So much emotion. He is the master.
It's a great solo, though very reminiscent of Mark Knopfler.
This song is the musical bond to my dad. I discover Oldfield with the cd elements. This... is a masterpiece. Thanks, dad
40 years from this day and counting ... ! This is one of my favorite songs that the wizzard Mike Oldfield created along with the magical Maggie Reilly.
This song is just... legendary. No others word possible.
Still a classic in 2024. There just ain't songs like these around anymore. Well deserved views of over a 100 million 🎉😊
¿Sólo 104M de vistas?

I just woke up today with lyrics of chorus and Maggie’s voice, luckily after typing the first line of lyrics this song appeared on my search list. Love it! Cheers to all listening in 2023 and beyond!
I can't stop listening to her angelic voice. God bless her and her family. Proud to be a fellow Welsh lady. Classy lady so elegant and stunningly talented.
Not Welsh but Scottish from glasgow
@@stewartjackson5483 Yup, I was about to say that.
Not Welsh from my home town Glasgow great singer
Magical ! Timeless, beautiful and still perfect. Now that's what I call music compared to "music/songs" of recent years.
One of the most beautiful songs ever recorded.
Great memories...when i was young my favourite song on the radio while my mother was cooking/baking
Lovely comment. X Me too.
Sweet. That's lovely 😍 my mum makes the best french toast, she learnt to cook when she was 4 years old. Now she won't talk to me because I feel like she doesn't and never had loved me at all. True story.
Anyway, hope you don't think of what used to be,just enjoy each day and get out of the house 🏠
Those magnificent guitar solos at 2:09 and again at 2:39 gives me goosebumps every time. Mike Oldfield, you're a genius.
Right. I guess it's time to listen to Tubular Bells once more :)
It is just stunning. I keep listening to the guitar solo...it's a beautiful sound. Don't forget to give the guitar player some credit as well! 🎸😃
The guitar player was Mike Oldfield. Brilliant
sometimes i ONLY play the solo parts . amazing work
Exactly …
Always gravitate back to this for a listen. Timeless classic. Mike Oldfields guitar playing is legendary and what a voice Maggie Reilly has.
I was teenager in the 80s. A very great time. Mike Oldfield is one of the best. The voice: Maggi Reilly is only can sing this song. Absolutly: Masterpiece.
I'm jealous now.
Same here. Really good times.
Gostaria de ver a letra dessa musica
@@-sturmfalke- Don't be.
Live the time you have now, love the times you are in now.
One of my favourite songs ever! Maggie's voice fits so well, so angelical, it's one of those songs that makes you feel incredibly nostalgic which is such a beautiful and yet melancholic feeling
2:09 these guitar solos are just so good, i have always liked them.
This jewel should have millions of likes.
HOW COULD WE FALL SO MUCH MUSICALLY WORLDWIDE???????
Because before the internet blow up, we were listening on cassettes, not on youtube.
Musicalmente solo ?. 😢😢😢😢
Not many pop songs are perfect. But this is definitely one that is!
Это произведение у меня ассоциируется с английскими балладами, ветер дует из глубины веков
Русские идут.☝️😎
❤ divine
Mike Oldfield has had the kind of career most can only dream of. He only ever created what he wanted to and then moved on- and along the way created some truly momentous pieces of music- such as this one.
This song moves me to tears every time I listen to it. It's been on my playlist for 24 years now.
its so beautiful song😊
I was on Ibiza in 85. I know your feeling
I’m 24 years old, It’s been in my playlist for a mere 3 years
мне 46 и в моем плейлисте она уже 34 года
UA-cam isnt even 20 years old, how is your playlist that old?
Maggie has a wonderful voice. Mike Oldfield is fantastic.
Krásné myšlenky. Vážím si vašeho komentáře a děkuji za něj. ❤
This is so very true. There was so much love back then, I’m not talking about romantic love, more of love and respect between all people. It’s been lost.
Sad but true what have happend to our society 😢
Better times back then
What a voice she had it is out of this World. ❤❤❤
Absolutely one of the best Classics of Mike Oldfield and Maggie Reilly.
So ein wundervoller Song. 🌹
Don't forget, To France!
Mike Oldfield is hugely talented but this is definitely one of my favourite of his song, and Maggie Reilly complements it perfectly. Happy memories listening to it when I was at school
Brilliant piece of music. Bass guitar, percussion, Spanish guitar and the synthesizer in the background, all fit so well with Al Stewart’s perfect pronunciation and natural voice.
40 years old and still superb - wish I could turn the clock back from this horrible world
Stay strong, people are fighting back ✌🏼
Me too brings tears to my eyes
hang in there buddy
@@kristywilliams7840 that’s why this world sucks now
I agree. The world is a miserable place. I was fortunate to grow up in the 80s and listen to hits like this.
The voice of Maggie Reilly is golden and made this beautiful song to a diamond of pop and rock music.
If you like her check out Cado Belle
Or Annie Haslam from Renaissance.
OR .... Maddie Pryor from Steeleye Span .... OR ....Judy Tzuke with Morcheeba lol all incredible voices
哦也錯喔我我猜錯唷錯錯在喔哦喔才在車全球最易
it doesn't matter in which mood i am (happy, angry, sad...), this song gets me everytime and for 3:42 minutes problems of the world are out of my mind, greetings to everybody who work at this masterpiece
😢
我也是
She has the voice of an angel.
I really believe Mike is one very underrated guitar player. His sound and feeling is simply outstanding. Speed and technical prowess is not everything for an accomplished musician.
He is not underrated bro. He is legend
This song sums up my childhood. So awesome
How did those six gunshot wounds heal?
Nah, kidding, this was my gateway from childrens music as well.
The shots all hit his toes, obviously.
=D
Migel, sloth emperor Spoiler: He didn't. That's why he's on "the other side" and she sees him "in heaven". That's the point of the song. He has died obv ;)
cher
was one the musics that my mom always was saying... stop listening this i cannot listen the tune, love it, but stop a little bit
I can't get the melody and lyrics out of my head - bloody fantastic song.👍👍👍
Absolute classic now and forever. And she is adorable.
this song is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This was one of those songs that were stuck in my head from early childhood that I couldn't really remember. Today I was lucky enough to hear it on the radio and I quickly noted some of the lyrics and was able to find it on google. So glad to have found this song!
welcome back to heaven
I HAD THE EXACT SAME EXPERIENCE!! So haunting it stayed with me for all these years despite not hearing it for years ❤️
Que bom que você encontrou parabéns.
Exactly the same just happened to me lol
Same here but I hummed at Google mic and got this.
I love the way Maggies voice takes on a different tone at 1:49.
I love it too.
When this was released in 1983 I thought it was one of the best sounds I’d ever heard…it was a big hit on pub wall-jukeboxes. The Bull in Rothwell Leeds was a great place on a Saturday night, the whole pub would sing along!!
Maggie Reilly's voice is as clear as a bell - marvellous!
yes. sounds clear, like a bell
beautiful. calming
Marvellous piece of music all round,I think.
@@rjjcms1 It is beyond marvelous, brilliant and more is what i think about this song. Loved it since it came out a lifetime ago, and will likely love it till i die.
il existe aussi une version chantée par la chanteuse belge -flamande Dana WINNER , elle est tout simplement sublime avec la voix claire comme le cristal de la grande artiste
@@101boertjie I have got to agree with you m8. I love this track. Great singing by Maggie. I'm a mega big Human League fan myself. And like 1man in my ♥️. Which is beautifully sung by Susan Sulley ♥️. I love this track 2.
Few songs reach the realm of perfection. Moonlight Shadow is one of them.
One of the best guitar solos ever. Took me many years to even realize that guitar solos exist, but here I am.
Absolutely, Greetings from Germany 🙏💖
The best part about this guitar solo is that we get two of them.
Still fall in love with this song
Maggie Reilly looks and sounds like an angel. What a voice!
timeless song
Her voice is so heavenly, sweet and gentle 💗
Such a unique and beautiful song.
There's something truly magical about old music like this......sadly,as a thirteen year old I was never alive to enjoy those times, but when I hear my friends talking about one direction and flicking miley Cyrus I think, wow am I lucky to know about this music!
you realise that 30 years ago people thought this particular track of Mike Oldfield was way to commercial and to heavily marketed. now I'm not comparing Oldfield to one direction or anything but truth be said, there's some really good music out there besides what you hear on the radio.
your being 13, so not yet alive when this music was made is a strange statement, I wasn't alive when Carl Orff wrote carmina burana for instance but I'm glad I live in this day and age when music is just a mouseclick away, think about that :)
its probable that music companies purposefully flood the market with shit to increase the value of their back catalogues so they can increase the value of company property and therefore the company
coverage of the mundane lives of celebrities are sold for more than music, music id mostly a gateway for the famouse for fame to promote them to sell shit
controversy = free advertising
piss off a bunch of prudes and the song will be on the news
its an ass, its a tit GET OVER IT
go to a porn site or get a hooker and just get it over with you're making them stronger
try the newgrounds audio portal or bandcamp or soundcloud or some shit
non-commercial songs have to compete on their content instead of their hype
the low quality oldies are forgotten because nobody bothers to look for them unless there was something noteworthy about them.
over 9000 comments all reading "i hate my generation"
"OLD-SHIT records inc" stock up 17%
"be sure to ship the "Justin's Greatest sHITS" before we sell our back catalogue of musicians that lay cold in the dust and we dont have to pay we will get more money because of the sales increase from disenfranchised teens who think there UNIQUE for listening to oldies
every song EVER has an i hate my generation comment youre not so fucking special youre just surrounded by morons MUSICAL Dunning-Kruger effect
12 years old, my first holiday crush, this song on the radio all the time on our way home..still gives me an ache in my heart every time I hear it.
When i was a child my mother used to sing this song. I miss those days
Better days back then fullstop.
mine too ... and it was played at her funeral
There is no such music today.
Wonderful song, I never get tired of it! Also seeing Mike Oldfield in his early years is amazing, what a genius he was!
Not was, still is. Needs more recognition.
His early years started in 1973 😂
Masterpiece!!!!!
I think I've heard it all my life but couldn't put a name to it. I know it always evoked emotion within me. Then one day I somehow got hold of several music videos and this was one of them.
Beautiful song and video, especially with the owl which is a truly magnificent creature.
I’m 13 my dad used to listen to this with my mom when I was about six in summer or so this gives me such good memories of when my parents were still together
:((((
san. Nah don’t be sorry for me it was a long time ago and I’m over it ahah
You could listen to this song while learning about basic punctuation. ^^
Evil666D no need to be that agressive with them
B A N G T A N I S D Y N A M I T E my grandchildren suffered like you darling. As the other grandparent said. “ who pays. The kids pay”. Our religion forbids divorce , and I can see why. God can make all things right if you pray to him. And say a “ Hail Mary “.
cant believe this song is one year older than me, still loving this. guitar solo is awesome
Maggie Reilly - the angel's Voice.
Maggie we thank you! Mike has his own place of respect. But you, Maggie, you're unforgettable, not only for Moolight Shadow.
Oh my god what a melody! Plus Maggies voice is amazing and she absolutely nails this! 👏👏👏👏
Nice comment! Thank you. She deserves so much respect! I believe, life didn't treat her that well. Hopefully, i am wrong.
risumotus really hope your wrong and did have a good life cause looks a nice lass and anyone with that voice deserves success.
