Alec "should Ms Steele give me a haircut? "
The literal next scene, had a haircut
Question is, was it done with these scissors?
That"s his Sponsored haircut
Made me think of Lewis from meet the Robinsons
It reminds me of the kid from Stuart Little
this is clearly a spoiler XD
Alec in the US: LET'S MAKE A GUN SWORD!!!!!
Alec in England: Let's make some pruning shears....
_legal reasons_
Soo true
@@joshrepik ouch,I keep wondering why he isn't making the cool weaponry while in England, I forgot all about the laws over there
@@PaladinCaddy yeah man it’s surprising they let him make some of the swords they did, even
@@joshrepik Our laws are odd like that- hand-forged swords with a curved blade are fine, mass-produced ones though- not so much. Various types of blades are illegal no matter what though, like push-daggers and automatic/flick knives. Swords with a straight blade are fine- it just boggles the mind, as though the people making up the laws think minor differences in blade/handle shape make any real difference to how lethal something potentially is; a £5 kitchen knife is just as dangerous as a £1000 exotic dagger etc etc...
I was literally just down a UA-cam rabbit hole of bonsai pruning videos then this pops up haha
Capper
@@hugedickerinokripperino5299 how do you know
Yes Daniel san
Ditto
Smashy Rashy ya right he commented like 2 minutes after release
Seeing as his hair is cut in the ad I don’t think the scissors cut well
Or mrs steel is secretly a barber🤔
Bonsai shears aren't meant for hair.
@Adam just use an ad blocker
I was concluding the same, looking at the crap cutting job that he got XD XD I liked the chaos bush better, but luckily, dumm people are keeping corona around, so lockdown hairdos will remain a thing for a while and his beautiful bunch will get back to length soon enough... =))
@@josephwaldner7752 Can't adblock the contents of a video ;)
This video is a return to classic form, forging a useful tool and describing every step of the process instead of just showing it in a montage. Would love to see more content like this!
The shears I have from Japan have a bronze washer sandwiches between the body and the hammered over pin material. I think it helps tighten them and still be smooth
trimmers UNITE!!
At the very end of the episode, did you actually whisper ” I’ve got to fart” as you walked away from the camera? That was hilarious!!!
Bonsai scissors are one thing, but Banzai scissors... that's hardcore stuff.
Name checks out.
@@d3lsl0w he must have changed the title
@@domnindebretagne3244 Nope, just me being 'funny'...
Holy hell- a Belgian Malinois is probably the *least* likely thing I expected to see in this video! Congrats
congrats on the burden of the incessant toy craze. malinois owner checking in!
@@cavemanvi the curse of the maligator, we almost adopted one, but decided on hounds. Not much better drive wise as hindsight proves. but still beautiful animals.
Love Malinois. If I didn't have a GSP, I'd have a Belgian.
Mals are fantastic dogs, but they require a lot of time! I'd love to get another, but life right now just wouldn't work with most mals.
Haircut spoliers in the ad at the end there mate 😂
6:54
WHY DIDN'T I THINK OF THAT?!?? What a great alternative to welding a jig!!!😍😍😍
Perfectly good flat bar *exists*
Alex: “Nah, home brand is best”
Alec bro. Alec.
I love when you take on these projects on everyday tools. The time, effort, and thought that goes into making these items by hand really shows how far we've come compared to the stamped out mass produced items we have today. Really makes you appreciate the things we take for granted everyday.
Underappreciated comment that I wholeheartedly agree with! I worked at a farm as a kid and seeing how modern kids throw perfectly good food away at schools because "It tasted bad" makes me hurt inside when I know how much work goes into every potato, egg and carton of milk.
So am i one of the few that would really like to see Alec make a really high end quality chefs knife, but do so as a co-ab with a famous chef like Gordon Ramsay?
Alec teaches Gordon how to make a knife for the kitchen, and Gordon teaches Alec how to cook a world class dinner for Mrs. Steele....... Think this idea or similar can happen? Lmao
He did this with a chef cant remember the name now
Ahh nah I take it back that was a hammer tenderizer
@@Justwayne88 it was Alex French Guy Cooking lol :)
oooooohhhhhhhhhhh........yes
I'm not usually one to correct spelling mistakes in comment sections, usually it's just a mistype but in this case.. The word you're looking for it "collab" not co-ab. As in short for collaboration.
Always good to see a new project never tried before. Nice haircut. Apparently Mrs Steel had lots of fun!
Finally someone showed how to spark test!!!! I hear about it all the time but I finally know what the difference is, thank you favorite blacksmith!!!
Making something once, taking time to refine it to perfection, is "easy". Making something twice, exactly the same, is hard. Off to a good start with this one! Thanks for sharing!
loving the more technical and arty projects recently
UK bans... gotta love good ol freedom USA.
You should teach Chip to 'middle'. Our Albert does this and it is very useful in cases where you need the dog to behave in company.
Belgian malinois is a super high energy dog. Perfect for your high energy!
Wow did Alec actually make a almost fully complete project without having to fully restart twice it's a miracle, love the videos all jokes aside!!
It doesn't take very long to degrade into rusty Steele. As a retired rusty machinist, I know from experience.
Project ain’t over yet
Aww now the Steele fam has a Golden and a Mal!! Yogo has a sister! Also, great scissor working so far 😁👍
I also noticed the drawings/diagrams of Chip on the chalkboard at 6:40. Perhaps a little metal model in the making?😄
I love seeing the forge being used again and I'm very impressed with your artistic and delicate progression with your forge work compared to just a year it's like night and day yeah
I have a century-old family heirloom, of a pair of forged scissors like that. Makes me happy to see what might've gone into their construction.
Just happened to be watching Alec Steel and forged in fire at the same time. While they're both doing spark tests too good. Loving these mini projects!
Alec....loved everything in Montana but there is something different about you being back in the UK at the old shop that makes these videos so much more fun. Keep up the awesome work!
I enjoy these videos where it's a small but useful project. If I was a blacksmith I feel like the first thing I'd do once i had the skills would be making every tool and utensil I use and anything I could upgrade in my living space
The radical change in your haircut at 8:45 😂😂😂 Hilarious
I really loved how this video had more explaining again. felt really authentic and a lot like some older videos. keep it up!
For those of us who work with bonsai, it is very good to see how the tools we use are manufactured, there is a very used tool that suffers a lot of wear and tear, they are called kumade and concave emptying machine, I would like to see if it is possible to manufacture them with the quality that you print to your jobs
Bonsai & Blacksmithing
My 2 favorite hobbies cross paths!!
I love these 'back to basics' alec solo videos.
Love the maligators. Good choice of dog!
I wouldn’t have expected him to get a Maligator. I hope he knows what he has signed up for with that breed of dog.
He already has it trained, he runs, he cycles, he does his homework, this doggo is going to have the BEST life!
One of the things I'm really impressed by is Alec's ability to create the tool he needs. The creation of tools is an art I admire. o7.
You should look into making some glassblowing tools. They’re still all hand forged and bespoke made based on designs that are thousands of years old. I’d love to see you make a pair of glassblowing Jacks
I'm glad he is doing projects like this again. I think he's been growing so much so fast, which is great, but it's worn down some of his skill sets. Lovely to see him getting back to basics.
Alec any chance of a Q&A for the channel? keen to hear what the plans are for the future and also how the team in Montana is going - do your videographers over there still have work to do? all the best!
Those were some clean looking welds you did, nice. Also, the shears were a fun idea.
This is a fantastic and inspiring video- it really feels like it's back to your roots and its not only well presented- it's a great story!
Well done!
That stop motion effect when Alec is hammering out the steel is so fucking cool
OMG! Yogo is a gem (pun intended) but your new puppy is precious! Way to go!
Nothing brings me joy quite like seeing part 1 at the end of a video title :)
Beautiful little song at 6:37. That was very sweet. Haha
Looking good...now for the next pair...1000 layer Damascus..with a hamon line..
good scissors are so pleasing to use . ive got a beautiful pair which ive used for the past 15 years
This is a pretty cool project. I’m very interested to see how it turns out!
6:40 look at the blackboard, I think we might be getting another sculpture vid :0
Hi, I really learnt a lot watching your videos, your videos gave me inspiration to work on my crafts. Thanks for being an amazing creator and person
Alec drew a toucan head. Sharpened the beak and used the bloody thing to cut a bonsai tree. I though toucans only liked fruit loops. Great job Alec
Those look great. Time for hand sanding!
I love your new pooch! Good luck training her!
I saw the same guy that made those Bonsai Scissors, the time he takes to custom forge them is amazing.
I’d love to see you make some barber shears and I’m sure many other barbers would love to see it as well!
wow these scissors look amazing 💯
Ayy a good bit of forging!! Missed that Mr.Steele!!
It warms my heart when I discover people I like are animal people! Welcome Crazy!
Hey Alec just letting you know that you helped me through a hard time in life and I want to say thank you.
Can't wait to see how they turn out my friend. Very nice video. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friend. Forge On. God Bless
I’d love to see some nicely crafted engraved scissors from Mr. Steele, maybe some inlay couple scrolls go crazy with it
High comedy at the end. Great video as usual, thanks for all the work.
I’d love to see a video with hand hammer forge welding. Not sure it would appeal to many viewers but I think it would be cool to see
I hope this is a warm up project for you taking on making the shears that appear at about the 6min 30sec point in your visit to the British Museum video. Those are really cool, and I have wanted to see you try those since that video.
Beautifully forged scissors.🔥🔥🔥🔥
Good to see you working in metic units again 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
WHAT A BEAUTIFUL MALI !!!!
Nice! I always wanted to try making some as I have many bonsai trees
Not gonna lie when he was singing yo himself about having an idea it was actually good. I would love to hear what he sounds like when he's actually singing.
4:38 Looks likes he hesitating to swing the hammer because of the time lapse haha.
im huge into bonsai love this and would love to see a bonsai tree in the workshop
I recently got into bonsai. It's quite fun
I’m curious. What is going on at the US site? You must have spent a lot of money setting it up. It’s got to be producing something. I’m guessing merch for the store. It would be fun to see who’s in charge there and what they are doing. Just my opinion.
GUYS HE SAID IT'S FANTASTIC TO HAVE US THERE AGAIN!
On a more serious note, the editing in this one seems different from normal, showing B-roll while he's still explaining what he's going to do. I like it.
How funny, I've been planning to make a couple of new bonsai tools on the forge to help with my nursery work this summer
Omg those scissors are awesome
Excellent choice for protection!! if you're so inclined.
These actually look great
Love watching you work you have got a lot of talent 😁
You need to make a trip to Japan and visit the original maker and show him what you made. See what he says and suggests. That would be a world travel episode!
I am from Sasuke forge. I am happy to see people overseas have my former brand as model. The making process is really different than this video but its a pleasure to watch it 😉
@@ericchevallier5126 Anything you would like to share would be amazing. Always interested in how people do things differently.
@@Awrethien At first we use japanese pine charcoal (matsuzumi) and we weld the hard carbon steel to the soft steel by hand using borax powder. There is many other long step, but the most intersting part of Sasuke scissors is, blade are not flat but helical, so there is always just one cutting point. Its difficult to explain, the best is to come visit Sasuke in Sakai ! 😁
@@ericchevallier5126 Oh Id love to at some point but my wallet is laughing at me for even considering the idea lol. Long term goals though....
love seeing you back into your roll brother ....

Alec: rambling
Attention: 100% blackboard
I wasn't ready for that cut at the end
The one thing Skillshare DOESN'T have is blacksmithing last I checked
Yeah but youtube.. youtube for everything honestly
@@jackkuehneman9300 I don't disagree with you. Just saying it's weird that they have so much stuff and sponsor so many makers channels on UA-cam but have no blacksmithing content. I guess that's a hole I should start to fill this weekend
Wooow I've been putting scissors in your instagram for so long I never thought you'd actually make them
What a gorgeous Malinois 😍
Looking great already Alec! Well done. 👍😁
The more Malinois the better! That being said, please be clear with the audience about the work this breed requires. In the USA we already have people buying this breed and quickly abandoning them when they realize the dog is too much for them. Absolute beauty of a dog, can't wait to see more of her.
Also, she would look extra badass with a spiked Roman collar
Id love to see some of the other bonsai tools like a knob cutter that have rounded blades
Wait... you do BLACKSMITHING too! I thought you were a manufacturer ;) Nice to see you getting back to your roots!
Now I can’t wait to see the final look 💗
Alec actually listens to his viewers! I suggested he make scissors on his Instagram and not long after he actually makes them.
love it when you make tools!
You're living the good life Alec Steele 👍
Definitely not first. But im still here.
Love when you craft something out of the ordinary
I just spat my drink out laughing!! Nice cut! Thanks, I needed that laugh lol
It's funny that you made this video. I just watched a video a couple of days ago about the Japanese Blacksmith that makes those scissors. There a couple of videos about him. It's very fascinating.
Its getting weirder and weirder. Next episode is gonna be something like making an ornate gem inlayed steerng wheel.
Edit: Now that I say it, that actually sounds kinda cool.
Would haver to be for an earlier car though, pre airbags. That's just way too complicated. And I'm pretty sure you wouldn't want a metal casing blowing open in your face in a crash.
@@David_Johnson_ thats quitter talk.
There is a picture floating around of a steering wheel with the center decorated with little stones, just to bring the "positive energy". One of the comments underneath it was something about turning that airbag into a claymore.
@@janbernad4729 I saw that one too. Made me laugh hardily lol
Can't believe Alex left the u.s we need more people like him.
Nice to see you smithing again
Belgian malinois, beautiful dogs ❤️
The best race of dogs
@@boiloko1809 I just got a Vizsla, so maybe im a little bias, but incredible none the less
i just google it, i did not known about that race of dog, verry beautifull, but i still prefere the point ears.
@@boiloko1809 two different breeds for different purposes. Both are awesome
