I always thought Rowan kit was going to be a she-cat!
Also if Brightheart dies, there’s gonna be a problem!

Prologue: Nothing too exciting, though at least we have confirmation that Mistystar and Reedwhisker are in StarClan, after the last arc you can never be too sure what supernatural thing the authors will pull next; still hoping this arc focus on more "mundane" threats, like the first half of AVOS. Also, I still feel bad about Reedwhisker dying; dude was the ONLY deputy of his leader throughout her reign, I can't think of any other cat like that of the top of my head. I think for that alone he deserved to be a leader :/
Chapter 1: When had ever the entire Clan was so invested in their members' relationships like in this chapter? I was always under the impression that cats generally minded their own business and didn't talk about other cats' love and family issues. Sure there were a few exceptions here and there, like Cloudtail and Brightheart basically shipping Brambleclaw and Squirrelflight throughout The New Prophecy, but here it feels like the entire Clan is invested. Heck, last book even Tigerstar was about to talk with her xD
Also name Rowan seems to bring bad luck, just saying.
Poor Fringewhisker, continuing to prove herself :/
Chapter 2: I get Nightheart wanting to prove himself, but disobeying senior warriors' order was not the right way to do it; even if he'd get the squirrel without getting hurt he would get scolded for risking climbing the tree. I'm surprised to see that seemingly nobody respects his decision to take a different name (apparently only Bramblestar does, because otherwise he wouldn't have agreed to it; which means there will be more of him and Squirrelflight arguing, thanks Nightheart -_-), I seem to recall that in the River there were a few cats supporting him; including his sister.
Wait, so is Fernstripe still not in ThunderClan? I mean, I get that Nightheart has his own thing to deal with, but I think they would at least show her coming to ThunderClan and being with Shellfur. Especially since there is an obvious joke to be made, about the first two cats using the new law being Graystripe's grandson and Crowfeather's apprentice! There's a joke in there that's right up Cloudtail's alley!
Also, I found out about this excerpt on the day it came out, but it was 1 am for me, so I didn't read it. Next day at work I mentioned that to coworkers, saying that "True, its only 3 chapters so that would be only like an hour of reading and hour of less sleep doesn't make that much difference, but I would be too excited to fall asleep. Plus I'm sure one of the cats I like dies and I will be depressed too." And what do I get in this chapter? Brightheart being sick! I literally said "oh f*** you" out loud when I got to that part!
Speaking off, the sicknesses in both Clans and both turning to SkyClan for herbs... so this will be the way they "tie in" SkyClan into this book? Both Clans will be getting their herbs from them? Kinda... weird. I half expected we would get a new POV character from one of the SkyClan cats, maybe Rootspring even. I'm curious where this leads too... also Jayfeather and Alderheart mention the territory they gave to SkyClan; I thought they got back those after SkyClan moved!
Honestly, the whole territory thing with SkyClan and everything connected to it never made much sense to me. After Shattered Sky, I thought they would simply move beyong ThunderClan territory, where they had hunted after the flood in Bramblestar's Storm (which they ultimately end up doing, but if they had done that from the beginning a LOT of drama could have been avoided!), but then in Tigerheart's Shadow we learned that instead they moved into ShadowClan territory (honestly, if it wasn't for his POV, I would have thought he was conspiring to make Rowanstar lose more and more of his Clanmates' respect, literally all he does after Shattered Sky diminishes his leadership, even if he hadn't done it on purpose -_- but this isn't the time and place...). Then when the other Clans move borders, WindClan gives a part of their moor to ThunderClan; why didn't they give them that damned woodland Firestar conceded (like an idiot)?! It's perfect for ThunderClan, and the border would be fairly easy to spot! And apparently ShadowClan couldn't hunt on the marshes RiverClan gave them, even though they literally lived on a marsh once, I get that a LOT of those cats had died since moving to the Lake but Tawnypelt is still around!
    Got off topic...
Chapter 3: Hm, not really all that much to comment on. I'm starting to get strange vibes off Splashtail, he seems oddly invested in Frostpaw :/ Have to agree with Frostpaw, Curlfeather and Willowshine's death were different. Also was surprising that Mothwing brought up Willowshine, I had thought she was going to talk about Hawkfrost; she had been devastated by his death. But I suppose after seeing him fighting for Dark Forest her feelings for her brother had greatly diminished. Good thing by the end of the chapter Frostpaw seems to recover a bit; not surprised that it took so long, seeing how her mother was basically Attack on Titan-ed last book. And speaking off, let us all hope she doesn't end up like THAT character xD
Well this excerpt had made me definetly curious about what's going to happen, so I guess it did its job xD

This book probably won't be as good as River, but it'll have its moments. However its most likely going to be filler until Shadow, where the main conflict will break out, iam personally predicting the return of Mapleshade. Hopefully the Erin's trim the heard a bit, and start focusing more on the younger cast of characters, they definitely have some interesting ones that have some really good potential, but they need to get rid of the older characters, it appears brightheart is facing her last stand, gonna be a lot of sad fans when she goes.

Warrior Cats isn't exactly known for it's consistency. Need some conflict? Change a character's attitude and make them antagonistic. You don't even need to come up with a reason why. It's not like these characters have personalities or anything.

They changed Rowankit! The original book said he was a gray she-cat not a ginger tom! I have been betrayed.
Just kidding, I don’t actually mind, it’s just confusing why they did that?

I mean, Rowanstar used to be described as a she-cat in The New Prophecy's Allegiances, so I guess he's keeping the tradition alive? xD Or could be a funny easter egg thrown in by the writers... or, you know, a mistake on their part, but that would NEVER happen, right? :p
