I love how we are finally getting a protagonist with an interesting design! Also, I hope she isn’t a nervous Med cat like frostpaw or Shadowsight, we need something new
I know we just got Squirrelstar, but I think it'd be cool for Moonpaw to be destined to be a leader. I haven't read all of the new books, but I'm really excited for Changing Skies and I think I'm going to get back into it as the books release. And I just want to say I really love your videos! You always manage to find unique information.
Most characters lately have lacked ambition. I want a protagonist who will do anything to accomplish their goals! It could be in an evil way, giving us our first villain protagonist (I was hoping Nightheart would be that, but oh well) or just willing to fight for deputy status. Moonpaw could definitely be that! Maybe she starts off following what everyone else wants, then decides she wants to become leader. After that, she stops at nothing to get it! That ambition could also cause a major problem she will have to overcome.
I hope her name is something like Moonface or Moondark, my family had a Chimera tortie but with two amber eyes so it’s cool to see such a pretty cat as the protagonist
I'm guessing Moonpath or similar personally! (Also btw, not all cats with split color faces are chimeras! In fact very few are. Unless your cat was a breeding cat genetically tested, it's unlikely she was a chimera. Just a very pretty and unique cat!)
@@GrimmDelightsDice OOO I love Moonpath too! But Rey Rey (as in do rey mi lol! My mom is a musician) was definitely a chimera, she had the same markings as Moonpaw, the split ginger tabby and black face

It's really neat, the split color face isn't actually an indication of chimericism (this was perpetuated by a famous split-colored cat being circulated online ~10 years ago who was both split color and chimera. But the split color is actually a result of the way the red and black genes work. Red and black genes in cats both sit on the same place on X chromosome (thus why male tortoiseshells are particularly rare). When both are present, the color that you see is actually defined by which color's gene is turned "off" (allowing the other to be visible). The process by which the genes turn off in different places in a cat is called mosaicism. Mosaicism is very frequently divided on a lateral line (vertical, splitting the left from right side) due to development of the cat in utero. It's thought that this is because the color genes start the process of turning off when lateral facial development is partially complete and still sending signals that start the genes "unzipping" from one another. This results in a phenotype with a split facial pattern. It actually seems to be a very minorly heritable trait as well, implying that the genetic process may be slightly mutated to result in split-faced cats. So split faces aren't a sign of chimerism, but they are a result of mosaicism. 99.9% of the time, comprehensive tests are needed to identify a chimera. There *are* two ways you can reasonably *suspect* a chimera cat without genetic testing, though. 1.) A cat with one green and one brown or golden eye MAY be a chimera. Extremely rare non-chimera mutations may cause this, but typically odd-eyed cats have one aqua/seafoam to deep blue eye, because the odd-eye results from a (sometimes not visible) lack of pigment/white spot of skin. 2. A fertile male cat with a majority blue/grey/black color that also has significant orange/red/cream spotting. The phoenix gene may appear like this for a little while but it darkens the cat to all red over time. A red cat with significant lentigo (black spotting akin to a birthmark) can also sometimes look like this. Otherwise, this cat is likely a genetic chimera. Cat genetics are extremely cool, it sounds like you had a very unique mosaic/tortie :>

If she does become leader, she’ll be called Moonstar and that sounds like a Mary Sue name in my opinion
