I've always had a soft spot for this era of Mercedes cars, which had more of an angular styling. They've aged really well.
Right. I have a soft spot for the W212 and the X166 especially
I agree. I hate that the new mercs no longer look like mercs :-(
spot on. the new ones look like melting chocolate with tarty, tasteless interiors. same with BMW, no class since the E39.
I agree this angular styling is so much better than the current styling.
I agree - one of the nicest cars I’ve owned. I’d love another.
If your garage was close to where I live I’d definitely buy a car from you!Seem super honest and actually fix cars before selling them. So many dodgy garages about nowadays
yes well said me to
I find it astonishing that people will buy a fairly new, expensive, quality car for say £20k, and then skimp on a £300 service. I just don't get it. I've had loads of older cars over the years and even when they are worth peanuts, I would never not get it serviced exactly on time. Why do people do it?
Hi. I suspect people borrow the maximum amount of money they can to buy the car. This leaves them with nothing to actually maintain it.
Definitely spend all their spare cash on PCP or hp so nothing left to spend on maintenance especially when they will just chop it in again on 12 months for something in fashion
If it’s your main method of transport, and where you’re spending a significant amount of time, why wouldn’t you keep it clean and maintained? Baffling.
They may have maintained it themselves, possibly rather than probably!
I do my own servicing, partly to save some money, that's how it started, but mainly because I have trust issues having seen some of the stunts many garages put, I also then know it's done properly with quality parts. Obviously can be a problem come sale time but I'm aiming to keep my current car for ever so not a problem.
Not ULEZ which kills the value of pretty much any mercedes before 2015
Would you buy a used car from this man.? Absolutely 100%.😊
Not surprised it sold quickly. Quality ,well sorted car at a reasonable price, what’s not to like 👍👍👍👍
Rapidly approaching the moneypit sunset. Granted this is the UK but still absolute garbage quality. I've got a 30 year old nissan bluebird, none of those issues, they just run and run.
Where's the quality in a car with engine and gearbox mounts expired already, brake lines rusted and kaput. A tractor engine, and a stinking aircon. Mercs are just glorified taxis thats all.
@@rambleon3698 blimey, that’s me told!
@@rambleon3698 Wrong. Engine and gearbox mounts lasted for 14 years (you should find out how long a motor mount lasts on other cars and you will see that 14 years is very good), brake lines and stinking aircon got to that state because the car lived in a wet area, it was probably parked near the sea and it's completely normal for a 14 years old car...
Im shocked at the disparity of labour costs between north and south - here in Gloucestershire youd be lucky to see change out of £600 for a wheel refurb, with many places charging closer to a grand.
My C220 CDi Estate (14 reg, black) has done 215000 miles and still drives like new, just passed another MOT no advisories. Very quiet, fast enough, 55MPG on a run.
Every video I watch gives me more faith that decent car dealers exist. You do everything to make sure a car is presented as good as it can be. Props to you for being a good human.
Matt...please buy and review legendary volvo 850 and 855 estate pleaseeee 🙏🏻
Would 100% pay to see this. Been eyeing them up myself.
What’s a 855 ??
@@bandiflip Estate version of the 850. 5 door.
Get the money in the bank, that is far more important than the final part of the video!
You could always tell it was going to look good when finished, the big question was just at what cost!
Good video, good sale.
true!
@HighPeakAutos do you shift many hyundai santa fee have recently bought one and so far am really impressed
Bought a 2014 one a year ago. Deliberately chose the older model c220 AMG sport estate because I preferred it. So far really pleased. Smooth and nicely planted on the road. Much prefer the interior and controls to newer cars (I hate cars with everything controlled by a tablet screen thing stuck on your dashboard). Engines a bit noisy when cold but on the move fine. Very comfy on a long journey and fuel efficient for quite a biggish lump.
I fully agrees about the interior on the newer Mercs to much like an Amstrad music centre
@@pauldavies6037yes the newer ones are chavy and glitzy, bit naff.
@@mattwright2964 I Agree
Love this generation of c class, design especially.
Love this era of C Class, especially the C63 touring 😍
i've have the 2012 estate 220cdi amg sports plus version owned since nearly new at 5k miles , and now 135k miles up. Apart from usual consumables, all i have every had to replace is the clock spring on steering wheel @ 90k miles and water pump @125k miles. g/box serviced every 40-50k miles and i've latterly increased engine oil change intervals to every 5k-8k miles and the engine still runs as sweet as a nut (55 -60mpg on a run) . As an fyi merc have a recall for the possible rust in the rear sub frame which they will replace FOC if rust found ..mine is ok so far. Bottom line for me is the utility value is worth far more than what i could get if i sold it , and im looking forward to running it for another 100k miles
I’ve had my 2009 c180 estate for 10 years ! And now on 227,000miles ! Still driving great , I’m now going to check my brake pipes !!
Original tranny or manual?
had the same model and also had the same brake pipe issue
I've just had mine replaced after them failing, a 2011 E250 CDi coupe.
Love your logical analytic approach to buying used cars and the great videos. Keep it up. Have learned a lot
Nice! This version of the C-class looks great.
Love it when you tell us about it matt and see you driving there
I'm sure the lads from Dents won't be happy with you telling everyone they have little rods Matt 😂
I just bought a 2012 R Class here in Canada - a true 7-seater station wagon (estate) with less than 60k miles on the clock powered by a 3.5-liter diesel and in as new condition for $15k (Canadian). I don't think this model was ever sold in Europe and it was never a massive success in North America where the market is either minivans (Honda Odyssey and Toyota) or SUVs.
The Merc sits somewhere in the middle. Like a minivan, it has seven seats, with the third row actually being comfortable and usable. Like an SUV it has 4WD and can actually be lifted on rough terrain. Its luggage capacity with seven seats in use is a little limited, but for our family of five plus a dog it is the perfect vehicle.
30 miles to the gallon on the highway, which is amazing for such a large and heavy car. Very happy with it.
This is why I like to buy a 6 year old car and run it for a few years. Most depreciation has gone but it’s still new enough that you don’t usually get too many faults
Hi Matt great video as usual, different car I know but I’ve recently bought an Lexus NX it’s 8 years old with 77k on the clock…..I booked it into Derby Lexus and asked for a full service and a gearbox service…. The very professional chap then asked if I watch “Matt from High Peak as more people are asking for a gear box service” 😂 I said I did and he agreed to throw in a free gearbox service! Result! Cheers Matt 😎👏🏻👏🏻👍
Haha no way. I’m proud of myself 😂
Stunning car. A great watch once again, I really look forward to these videos 😊
You’re always honest in your videos, whether the results are positive or negative results. Please keep them coming thank you
My dad used to have one of these from new in 2012, red. Always loved the look of them
Always love this era of C-Class. A lot of car for damn right silly money. Well done in selling it without photos. That must be a first for you!
Love that shape of C-Class estate, great looking car. That’s a really well spec’s one so not surprised it sold so quick!
Years back my Dad was considering buying a black Mercedes estate. I put him off when I told him it looks like a coffin carrier
Loved this video as always. All through it was waiting for the obligatory “but I’ve overspent!” Good to see you did make a profit though 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
What really annoys me is that plenty of C-Classes of this era were made as diesels and they're super good/reliable cars, but now basically useless if you live in a ULEZ/Clean Air Zone
Super good and reliable
lol.
You clearly are new to this
@@user-js8eg2fp3x Probably one of the most reliable cars of the time.
My wife had one as a company car back in the day, I don't remember it ever been reliable. Spent more time at the garage having endless warranty work done.
@@interceptor-ss8kbThat's the result of production workers at Mercedes going home on Friday afternoons.
@owensteele1645 in all fairness the b6 passat estate she had before it was a much better car. Never went wrong once and the build quality was far superior.
Hello Again, Matt yet another good buy/sell video, please just keep doing them. Regards, RichardA.
Had the same problem with my brake lines last year on my 2008 C220 CDI. Thankfully spotted and sorted before they burst... A really good thing to point out.
Great old bus for someone, much better than an suv as you say. With an engine sound like that you should be able to tax it as a commercial vehicle!
Was tempted by this when it appeared on the website but I was waiting for the pics to appear - and then off it went!! Good job though and definitely worth that as well, especially with everything that you'd done to it in the end.
Same! 😂
I would totally agree with the brake pipes as I had the same problem on my W204, and it hadn't shown on the MOT, but a Mercedes specialist told me. Also, the subframe is a known issue on the W204 for corrosion. Nice cars though
Came across one of your vids from 4 years ago on a Ford Fiesta eco-boost. Just wanted to say how much your whole presentation is now so professional compared to back then.👍
I have one of these in white, it's a 3 litre diesel and i have owned it for about 4 year's no problem's. Love the styling and has aged really well. There's not many around Marple so you may see it knocking about. Great reviews love the channel 👍
You are not the only weirdo who changes the gearbox oil, I do it on manuals too. It will add longevity and minimise chances of breakdown, nothing weird about it just mechanical logic and wisdom. 👍Andrew
Haha me too… made me chuckle I’ve had a few mb estates too… a good specialists really help out
Another great video Matt ... and yes, please get rid of all those weeds behind the parking bay
Beautiful car and worthy of the attention you have given it.
Looked a nice Merc. Thanks for the advice about the brake pipes. I'm glad you didn't loose your shirt on it. Good luck with the house move 😊
I love your enthusiasm.
Matt Great to see an honest used car salesman
I run a 2009 C220CDI AMG sport estate. It has the maple wood interior like this one. Wheels were refurbished too. Only difference mine has the optional sat nav that folds out of the dash. Great car and i too sold mine to the first viewer last week.
I can imagine it really looked the part! shame your colleagues don't have NVQ's in photography!!
An episode with the whole process would be great!
Good luck with the house buy!
After seeing your videos for over a year now,i finally subscribed. You've gained my heart with all those Mercedes you've done recently.
Glad you like them!
I always watch your videos and what you buy then I go onto a well known auction site and see what’s available.
Once again a very nice car back on the road for years to come because you do things correctly that’s why the man paid without photos but you got a bit of money but a lot of admiration people know you only sell the best , no stone unturned ❤
‘The car that just keeps on giving, problems’, love your statements Matt
2.15 straight from a Sprinter 😂. Pulls like a van.
Another great video hope you kept free vacuum token and nail clippers
Well done Matt, You managed to drive through my home town of Glossop when the traffic wasn’t at a standstill for once. 😉👍🏻
Great video. I have a few C Class Mercs, I have two at the moment,
Had my 2008 c200 for 10 YEARS!!!! Still drives great and very reliable. Mine is the older OM646 engine with duplex timing chain. 204k and should be good galactic miles. Great video Matt!
Coincidence, I'm actually thinking about buying this. Thank you!
Such good cars, bought the exact same thing a year ago, but a 2010 C250CGI with 44k miles, sweet!
Nice looking car matt my dad had a silver 320 cdi touring with the same wheels I loved that car
Agree with you on the low fuel thing. Nothing as off-putting when on a test drive.
Congrats Matt, great vid
Great job Matt. Lovely car
You should be thankful that the car sold so quickly and with not bad profit, well done!
Top Job again, Matt
It’s funny but I really enjoy watching affordable cars been done up and made ready for sale more than watching exotics getting a 10 grand carbon fibre boot spoiler fitted, I suppose that’s the working class peasant in me 😊. Matt I’m a Lexus guy and currently drive a Lexus is300h FSport but I am thinking of buying the Lexus es300h soon, any chance of doing a review on one if possible please and thankyou
That era I think had corrosion problems with brake lines, fuel lines & subframes. I had to get those sorted on my 2005 SLK. Apparently a known problem.
Great video I picked the same car for myself Matt from auction, C250 estate £1800 on a 2011 with 188k, same door card issue!, needed a drop link and a tyre, needs a timing chain as the tensioner is worn. so for less then 3k I've got a super quick safe tank that does 40mpg!
I am always amazed at the used car prices in the UK.
Even doubling your prices for our undervalued Aussie $ I still could not get that car in that condition in Oz. Thanks for the video Matt. Even refurbishing the wheels would be $1000!
Yes Australia doesn't even allow used Japanese imports. Horses for courses, UK has mostly manual and diesel, its rare to see petrols. They adopted the French approach as a result the air is heavily polluted. UK still doesn't have a good selection of Japanese imports or grey imports
@@TB1M1 yes it does, I’ve often watched an Aussie UA-cam channel reviewing jap imports
Obviously there to much money in Australia, and the northern part of the U.K. isn’t exactly well off, all the money is down south.
They aren’t really this cheap he gets his cars cheaper than most

My MX-5 in the background! :)
Hey Matt. Love your work 👍
Rusty breakdisks are not a problem. After one firm break the rust is gone.
10:03 Matt always finds a way to take a dig at qashqai or juke, even when the video has nothing to do with them lol
Excellent car! Had one and loved it.
I had a 2010 C220i CDi BlueEfficiency estate as a company car - absolutely faultless. Lovely thing, effortless 700+ miles/tank, smooth and quiet.
I was thinking 5k is too cheap for a well-sorted one of those. As it sold so fast at 6k, it makes you think whether it could have gone for more.
I think it helps the buyer probably watches these videos and knows how much work Matt puts into cars before selling them
He sure does. How many dealers will do a gearbox service and full engine service for instance. Not enough I would suspect.
Welcome baaack.
Matt, how much time did you put into this car? That must be the ultimate factor when working out whether £850ish is good money.
Other bonuses are that you kept a perfectly decent car on the road for the foreseeable future, which is a nice slap in the face to throw away culture and in built redundancy, and you possibly saved someone from experiencing sudden brake failure!
Nice one.
Great video HPA, very nice car, great work Matt, nice profit for your hard work, well done 👌👍😀
Thanks 👍
By coincidence I watched an old review of yours last night of an E-class estate, I think it was an '09 plate. I'd been contemplating either a C- or E- might be my next car. This looked pretty decent but I'd probably need the slightly bigger loadbay of the E-class to get a couple of bikes in the back.
Hi great job on the Mercedes, you always do a great job on your car's, from marty in Belfast northern Ireland God bless
“Hyacinth”… ha ha ha ha I am as American as they get and I love those comments thrown into your videos - that one I got. Love the American references as well, because they’re true. Your content is better with each drop. Thanks, time well spent watching your videos.
I managed to pick up a 2009 c250 CGI (1.8L turbo petrol) last year for £3750. It’s a fantastic car and because it’s Blue Efficiency It’s also pretty good on fuel. It’s very refined and comfortable and it’s turned out to be a great small family car.
Nice buy! I own a ‘08 s204. I love it and drive it for 6 years now. The rear subrame can be a problem on these cars. They will rust from the inside out and break. Mercedes replaced the rear subrame on my car under warranty when it was 11 or 12 years old! Als check the brake lines under the subrame, they will also rust..
I love those series of videos
Ok not a great return but once again you put your heart and soul into saving another classic car 💪
another greart video, really solid cars those, a profits a profit at the end of the day
Well done matt 👏 another nice car saved 👍
Good vid, I don’t know how you do it Matt, I just had my w203 coupe rear control arm fail and have been quoted 660 with a shock too. It literally just passed its mot last month and I thought that was the end of the list this year, I was wrong 😂 .
That looks like it has been well looked after & it is in good condition 👍
been loving the constant content matt!
Really like this one… not gonna hang around long I think. Just started reading comments, see it’s sold. Should really not comment half way through watching 😂
Aux cable input on the left in the glovebox, click cd, then select that on bottom left and change to aux.
Keep it up man 😊
Nice video, these Merc estates run and run.. I’ve had c class e class, and CLS estates (the last one I really loved) clocked up easily 500k miles between them minimal issues - good independent specialists are great… I’ve stayed away from main dealers
I've had one of these for 10 years, but with the V6 engine. A lot smoother than the 4-cyls and will still do 50mpg without trying too hard. Big enough carry a wardrobe, but not tank-like to drive at all. Rear tyres don't last long, wish mine had 17-inch rather than 18-inch wheels. I only got 10K from the current Continentals and I'm a sensible driver. Avoid solid red (Diablo red?) on Mercs of this era, there's a manufacturing fault that makes the lacquer peel off. Doesn't affect any other colours And I spent ages waiting for a red C350CDI to show up in Autotrader. Such is life.
Such a good looking generation of Mercedes, and they're such good value now as well
Hi Matt another car with your amazing workmanship done on it which will be on the road for a good few years now and another happy customer great video hope you are well best wishes ian
Fingers crossed!
@@HighPeakAutos definitely Matt best wishes.
love those cars would love to buy one abut would have to find the right engine size ,love your honesty on what you make
Well done Matt you put another good car back on the road saving it from the scrap yard someone has got a really good car hopfully stopping them buying an EV..
I bought a new Mercedes c250cdi sport auto in 2010, loved that car.
very nice M4; I really like that design
Uk and France, top buyers of extremely cheap consumables and spare parts in the auto industry!
Made me smile when you said 'Hearsy'. I once said to my Dad, who bought and sold cars privately when I was young, had the opportunity to buy a Merc estate in black and I said 'Dad, it will look like a hearse'. It was great to have a Dad who was into cars, and still is, which is a bonus👍🙂. And question... fake wood trim...has it aged well?..was it ever stylish?...Discuss😉
