"I've massively overspent" will be written on your gravestone
Not a gravestone… maybe his crypt? He’ll have massively overspent of course!
@@toco789 🤣 you win the High Peak channel for today!
I was just about to write the same 😂
Gold!! 😂
"I've Massively Overspent" should be in the title of most of his videos by now
The wheel size suits the car imo. Not everything needs to have its ride compromised for a look that will, like everything, go out of fashion.
With the potholes in our roads small wheels/thick tyres make a lot of sense.
Too right. Comfort over 'sport' for me every time. 👍
100 % agree this silly fashion for big expensive wheels and skinny tyres
100% Classic cars only look good (or have any value) if they are stock. Putting big wheels on a car like this would be retarded. I'm glad he didn't suggest it.
I hate those cars with Rubber bands for tyres.
Manual seats are a good thing. Anyone planning on keeping a vehicle for a substantial length of time, when the electronic seats break down they're hideously expensive to fix; even on non-luxury models. Giving drivers two options where the seats won't slide up & down uncontrollably. Either all the way forward, or all the way back. The manual ones practically never break. For a single owner/single driver car, they just make more sense.
Unless you share the car with your short wife then it drives you insane every time you get in (the car not the wife)
@@advantagemarine7305 Hahaha!!
Rare to find a low miler E46 touring, they still look modern today, great cars and still desirable today. BMW designs tend to never date (not being biased being a BMW fan)
I think the E46 era BMWs were their last classic, elegant designs. As soon as Chris Bangle got his talentless hands on the brand, BMW has produced nothing but tasteless and tortured designs, and most of those have aged very poorly indeed.
@@Ijusthopeitsquick I don’t have an issue with BMW designs of late or Bangles era, I think they just need time to grow but they would still look modern come decades later. I own the first generation 4 series which I think look great to this day, the 4 series after that takes some getting used to though.
@@snbala It's a matter of taste, of course, but I miss the simple sleek elegance of the E39 saloon and the E46 Coupé. Their proportions are perfect, and their headlights are where they are supposed to be: on the front of the car facing forwards. I don't understand the modern fad of smearing half the headlight back along the wing. Most modern cars do this, though.
@@Ijusthopeitsquick it is a matter of taste and opinion, everything else. As a BMW fan, I can appreciate all of them, even the current crop of models. The modern ones have a design language hence the sweeps and swipes.
My wife used to have a 2003 E46 320d SE, we bought it in 2007 on 137k miles, and I sold it in 2016 with 308k miles. What a car that was. Just kept on going, and never, ever let us down
My dad had a 320d saloon SE I believe as well back in 2012 bought it with 140k on it and a couple years later sold it for spares and repairs as it had a dpf and egr failure on 194k and it went to Germany the guys we sold it to were gonna take it there and repair it. Unfortunately he just had too many problems with the car so decided to sell it. My aunty had one exactly the same but blue(ours was silver) at the same time we did and hers was ultra reliable and lasted long after ours they had it up until around 2017.
@@Afraz_9n3 who did the servicing on yours? Ours still had a full BMW history until I sold it.
@@DavidEverson77 idk who did before us but we got it done by our usual mechanic who has always been good we've been using him for 13 years now (2 years then) and my Polo has been done by him for the past 10 years it's never had any problems. That e46 was shagged though 🤣🤣 it was a cheap car and for a reason I don't think the previous owners looked after it properly which is why we had so many problems
Ooh nice, I used to have one of these - my first ever decent car. For weeks after I got it I would look out of my bedroom window at it when I couldn’t sleep at night!😆 Who can blame me after several £500 transits and a mark 2 Escort!
Oops, commented based on the thumbnail before I put my glasses on - mine was a ‘94 5 Series! 🙄
@@Libertarian606 and it’s not even about cars, it’s a Gillette men’s razor 🪒 😂😂😂
(Jokes)
This is a lovely example, you’ve done it again Matt, overspent, although, you are vastly improving these cars, and most importantly, ensuring they are safe for their next owner, which is a huge credit to you ❤.
Any trader that fits Bosch wipers and replaces the rusty number plate screws for new ones with the correct caps is one to trust.
The spare wheel was probably there as it lives under the second false floor and will be a space saver.
Top job.
I will like this video without watching it fully because I LOVE the e46 touring!
Glad you enjoyed it!
That interior beings so many memories back 😭 my mum ferried us around in a 2003 black 330d saloon as children. It’s an EPIC ENGINE, we got it in 2006 with already 100k miles on which is nothing for those engines, it’s STILL on the road somewhere now with 213k on it!
Great engines
In the country I'm from there's a guy who has a BMW e46 330cd which is a monster. Over 450hp and over 1000Nm of torque. This car is faster than m3. And at the same time it looks like a stock e46
Ah yes, the good ol E46
Many years ago, a mate of mine ordered a 330d E46 touring from BMW Bridgegate. Even back in 2003, he added 12k worth of options. It had everything possible to option.
I have to say Matt you do seem to go to a lot of effort on bringing up the cars to a good standard and I really think that is very commendable. I have met a few traders in my time and I don't think any of them would do a fraction of the repair work that you get done on your cars. And most of them would probably just use the UA-cam channel for pretending they do this routinely on their vehicles just to create a good impression.
Love this channel. So good 👍
Keep up the good work
Nice!! Love the E46 touring!
Some of the known problems with this specific model of car are:
Missing car mats
Rust on wheel arches
Worn out wiper blades
Empty crisp packets in storage bins
Some have been smoked in
The steering wheel is worn on high mileage ones
And..
expansion tank leak/crack
Vanos leak
Rocket cover gasket leak
Oil pan gasket leak
Wheel alignment is very sensitive
Airbag code 01 fault
Coolant leaks (needs radiator water pump all upgrades/updated)
Fuse issues for folding mirrors (high spec cars)
Once you do all these which isn’t much in todays market it’ll last you forever and will always make you smile driving.
Hey Matt. Love your work 👍
This is the kind of car review video that enthusiasts should be watching! You learn about more than just specs and design.
I run a 56 plate E91 330D on 264k.
It is a very nice car for it's age. Yes, the calipers and brake pipes might have rusted away, but the rest is in such a great condition. With the paint job done - it looked very nice. I would have considered to buy this for 4-5k to be honest.
Brings back happy memories my old man has a gun metal e46 m3 back in 2003. Such a great platform
Great video HPA, nice work matt,it looks fantastic, well done 👍😀👌
Its always worth doing keep another one on the road keep up the good work 😊
Nice to see an E46 on the channel I love them!
Congratulations on your new ride!
Great car look forward to this one
Very, very good.👍 You kept your promise.😊
If you want a 2005 1.6 petrol honda civic with 43000 miles then let me know, previously owned by an old lady and taken care of very well. runs like brand new. mint condition Executive spec with heated seats, sunroof and working AC
Lovely. Likewise a huge fan of the E46. Thanks for keeping another on the road!!
Cheers for the videos Matt. Side note- Always appreciate it when you put decent tyres on a used car a lot of traders don’t give it a thought but I always look out for them. 👍
Recently bought the 6 series GT waiting for your review on one of those Matt !!
Another great job done matt 👏 saved a good car not alot of profit but the new owner has got a great car for the money and the proof is in the pudding high peak autos goes above and beyond what most garages dont do i would not hesitate to buy a car off you matt with you its get it right and provide a great service which after all the videos and your honest up front no frills and nothing hidden way of trading your cars you thoroughly deserve custom so well done matt and high peak autos 👍
Love the videos Matt, keep em coming :)
I had a 320 years ago in blue, lovely car, being the straight 6 it pulled very well.
Loved the vid, how on earth did you find one of these so cheap at low mileage!
I had a 320d in the same colour and spec as a company car back in 2004… loved it! This video takes me right back! 😊 great car for the guy that bought it..
What a coincidence.. I've watched alot of your videos past couple of months, and was driving on the highway here in Denmark on my way home. As I was driving my POS Mitsubishi Colt, I started to miss my old e46 Touring (have been for a while though) - And then I began to wonder if you ever made a video with an e46.. Now I got home, and would you look at that.. A new video from Highpeak Autos with a e46 Touring, uploaded 1 hour ago..
Thank you for the videos!
Thanks for watching! All the best
That’s mint. The split boot is amazing
Well saved! I love those bms
Fave 3-series generation hands down e46 🙌🏽
Great job 🌟
Love the channel mate. I've been learning from you what to look out for in a second hand car, esp when it comes to BMW. Hoping to pick up a 2015 4 series 😎👍
Had one of those from new (2001). What a great car.
ship that thing to the US and sell it for 20 grand
These years of the BMW 3-Series I agree with you Matt are one of my favorite-this looks so good after your "overspending" which I don't believe you did-just preserving a great series.
Loving the SL, so😎
That is lovely condition , you can tell by the centre badges on the wheels they look in great condition.
The car looked absolutely gorgeous after the mini valet. The E46 is such a handsome car. Looks like it has gone to a very good home as well. Hopefully there was an element of job satisfaction even if the profit margin was slim. Another good car given a new lease of life. Great stuff.
Hello Matt, nice looking car and it looks like you have already sold it.
Thanks for taking the time to upload another video. Ged.
My uncle has an X-reg 330d automatic one of these with huge wheels and dog cages fitted in the back. It's been "to the moon and back" as they say. At this rate he'll keep running it until he gives up driving. Like the regular E46 it still holds up today, styling wise.
Matt iam well pleased you saved that Beemer estate. Always loved the style and design of it. You saved it from the scrappers so we'll done and great video, that beeper estate is one of my favourite colours. Nice to see it kept on our road's and you still made small profit. What's not to like about the whole situation. (And a nice video that was enjoyable to see)
Welcome to the club 🤝🫡
I like booth cars you arrived and bought it’s great e46 rarely I can see on the roads with low mileage almost Oldtimer 😃
My favorite càrs in the past, thought the saloon drove better ,still look great today.Cheers Matt.
Love the estate BMW’s. It was a really nice motor, and cleaned up really well.
A quick clean and a buff and it will be fine
What a nice car. Absolute peak BMW design. Reminds my of my 156 wagon I have, still going strong. Keep the old cars on the road :-)
Love this car for a long camping trip to Germany
Great video Matt, at least it ended in profit, not much but profit.
I had a 2004 320d es saloon from new, quite a nice spec I recall. Nicely understated.
Great video Matt. Sad to see their is no such thing as a cheap BMW and that you did not make much profit but nice to see the car restored.
Good morning Matt. Another great video. People are getting great motors from you. Whats that saying "Buy with confidence"? I think that's got to be right with you.
Well worth saving loads of life left in that car. Glad you went with continental I have recently bought a car and it came with evergreen tyres they are truly scary in the rain.
Really enjoy these vids. We had our 2003 plate 320d Touring for 12 years and it was a great car. Reasonable performance, assured and predictable handling, and very comfortable, esp over long journeys. The only downside was rusty front and rear arches. We had the rear ones cosmetically repaired and new front wings fitted when the car was eight years old. (the arch liners wear away the galvanising on the inside of the arch and it rusts from the inside out). By the time we sold it in 2018 they were rusting through again! Otherwise, a great wee car
Thank you for taking the time to save another e46 Touring, as they are simply the best looking and most practical estate produced by BMW since 2005 and will surely be a future classic.
LOL your mechanic sees you coming. You will never convince me otherwise. BUT... OTOH, such videos are great YT fodder, AND they speak very well to how you prepare the cars you sell, which is probably worth the investment. Good video, thanks.
I own an e46 330i msport touring its manual has a sunroof and the Harmon kardon speakers and it still pulls like a train love it 👌
Nice car Matt. - I have always liked your videos as you cover everything you need to know in buying a car (Shame though this low mileage BMD cost so much on it's service)
Mike .
And to think I was just starting to get it out my system wanting another e46 now I'm right back there needing one. Cheers for that😂
Still such a good looking car. Matt just love how you turn these things around. Can you please do a vid on your decision making process when you get the mechanic news ... side view to camera mmm I know I shouldnt but...
I love how you start optimistic and you end up saying ''guys I over spent''.
Thank you for your content and for doing such a good job on old used cars, cheers
As soon as you said your catchphrase I knew the next sentence would include “corroded brake pipes” we’ve had a number of E46s in the family over the years and absolutely every one of them has needed the same thing (so too did the E34 incidentally). Still though, you’ve kept an absolute gem on the road, so massive well done for that! Can’t wait til the next one!
Great video as always. I’m a big fan of the 3 Series touring and this is a nice (low spec) model. Let us know once it’s sold. It should be good for many more years with zero depreciation.
Keep on saving these old cars matt. You could start a new trend.
Just discovered your channel. Fantastic content and a really honest portrayal of how you go about your business. Thanks for taking your time to upload these 😊
Thanks for watching!
I know you didnt make much matt but the new owner is getting a lovely reliable estate car, good on yer.
I really appreciate the honesty and how much it costs. Id buy a car from you mate.
Really enjoy your content. Small tip, i think your stabilisation on your go pro is on (or whatever your side window camera is), which is why you get that movement in the car as you drive. It's a slight sea sickness feeling - I am a BBC cameraman and had the same issue. Until I turned off stabilisation. Anyway, keep up the great content.
An honest car dealer it’s such a nice change, fantastic 2nd or Dog owner car..I had 330D touring back in Day as company Car, 120k miles with back in the day was a very quick estate...
Excellent video Matt, as always.🎉
This is another fine example of "knowing the quality of restoration, transparency of costs, I'd have bought it in a heartbeat" I'd, er ..actually be prepared to pay more given all the documented work.
Think of it as "diamond video premium". Thank You.g
One of the best things with a 3 series is the ability to have cold air to your face and warm air everywhere else. A bit geeky I know but it’s a very underrated feature! Great video Mat as always 👍🏻
Sounds like my old A35!
why would e neeed that? keep the takeaway warm on the back seat? lol
You know you're going to get a safe car from Matt and he is not going to rip you off.
Great video.
Man, did it look awesome after you've cleaned it! A car that's still nice to have if you can find one in decent shape, as this one.
I had an E46 320d and I loved it. I’ve had 3 series tourings ever since ( boring I know!) but I just love them. Current is a 330d X Drive which is an awesome car.
Brilliant Matt you didn't make much profit out of this car but you made a good job of restoring it.
Good all round family car
Kevin from Radcliffe
Well done Matt
Great video and content Matt. Compare this BMW with some of the newer hideous looking products from that company now with their overblown grills.
I love the E46. That SL should be in a video as well.
Lovely motor well worth saving 👌
I bought a 2002 E46 330ci auto last Christmas. 6 months and 8000 miles later it’s still absolutely fantastic 🤩 needed some mechanical work but mainly wear and tear. Bodywork isn’t the best especially the rear arches but my dad’s a spray painter so he’s been tasked with fully restoring it 😅
always liked the e46, loved my 05 330ci Clubsport, it had pretty much every optional extra and 163k miles on it when I bought it and it was immaculate, excellent build quality! even had it's torch 😉
I had to have the brake pipes done on my E46 saloon when I had one, simple parts but very labour intensive! Frequent issues with ABS wheel speed sensors and traction control turning on and off, faulty rear light clusters and electrics and of course the rusty arches but I loved it, my first "proper" car really
Another 1 saved and I'd happily buy it 👍
❤ great looking car, a practical classic in waiting, i thought you could have got a bit more for it, id have loved it to, idea for moving my family and pets around, family in the car, pets behind the rear seats, whilst you're making videos on BMW'S, how about one on the one series you've got, there must be a good story behind that one
Theyre really cute Cars!
Well done as always Matt, its like its just off the showroom floor! :D
Not related to cars but went to the game Vs North Macedonia last Monday and had dinner in the pub at 14:55 with the station conveniently placed next to it, food was banging!
Another nice car rescued Matt, small wheels = nicer ride, well done, economical someone saved from the EV minefield.
had my E46 320d touring for 4 years, loved it and hated it at the same time
100% agree with the comment about a family not wanting a Kashqai, I bought a SAAB 9-3 sportwagon V6 for family duties as I wanted something different.
Had one of the last 05 run out models as a company car. Brought my daughter home in it from hospital...she is now 18.
It does have a spare wheel, space saver I recall, under the bottom of that deep spare wheel well, hence why you see that big retaining nut in the middle.
The e91 touring I had afterwards wasn't built as well.
